I avoided mine. Too expensive. Besides, I felt no compulsion whatsoever to spend an evening around a bunch of people the majority of whom I didn't care for and listen to music that sucks. Bad enough I had to deal with school during the week. The weekends were all mine.

Prom? Who needs that? When you can have the Summer Ball... ninja At my school, unless you're dating someone, you generally go on your own.
Also, it's held for the top two years.

The great thing about college is how over that everyone is. Anyone who still clings to their high school days (like wearing a letter jacket) are the ones who wind up looking and feeling pretty silly.
Hang in there, because once you're done with High School, socializing becomes a totally different animal.

Good lord, prom pictures? Nah, i'll save you all from a purple haired goth Cat. wink But Matereater Lad is right, A lot of people that picked on me tried to be my friend out of High school.. which i didn't understand because they've been mean to me sense elementry school (wow, i've been here way too long.) But all the clicks usually disappear when you leave high school. Most of the people that were friends hate the people they used to know or hardly talk to them..
My Prom sucked when i was there. only stayed an hour.. and the boyfriend at the time... well he tried to take another girl to his prom.. guess it's because they all hated me.. Women usually do.. rolleyes in those cases.

I may only be in a camunaty(sp?) college, but it is a hell of a lot better them my piss poor high school. why: 1) people go there to learn, rather then go because some one said they have to. 2) Classes are smaller like i think there are like 15-20 other in my class, rather then 30+ like my old school. 3) and best of all no bulling (BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP) over every thing for every one.

Meh, Prom was ok, and I did wear a black dress. (I also wore awesome heels, and ended up taller than my date.. sweatdrop ) Unfortunately, basically all of the music was either bad hip-hop or freaking tejano. What the hell, man? XP Hanging out with my friends after the event was much more fun. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

College > High School in the social department, by far.
Although my college is a little clicky. Well, not clicky but divided I'd say: those who are super into on campus activities and those, like me, who couldn't really care less.
And everyone be talkin' about prom pictures but I ain't seein' any. domokun

Bad enough I had to deal with school during the week. The weekends were all mine. That pretty much summed up why I didn't go to my prom. I didn't feel like paying all that money to go to a dance with no date. My buddies and I played gory video games instead.
