[.short.attention.span.] I was wondering, how many flute do ya'll have in your marching band... We ahve 28 , methinks... Includeing 5 Piccolos.... Most of the people in our main band also participate in marching band, so it's the same number for us. Around 30, all piccolos.

Most of the people in our main band also participate in marching band, so it's the same number for us. Around 30, all piccolos. That's how I think it should be. You can't hear flutes unless it's solo-like and even then it's hard to hear if it's in the lower or middle octave(sp). I've played flute for 6 years. 1st chair throughout middle school but 6th now (basically 4th) because the woman who does the testing doesn't like me. UreshiiNyoko, that's what our clarinet section does except our DM doesn't check on ppl, miss lutz does. One practice we couldn't go to our normal spot because the low brass took over so we hid in another corner and she couldn't find us. we sat and talked the whole time. Good luck with DM

Well, in the freshman band alone (That's the band I'm in), there's around 20 flutes. I shudder to think about how many flutes there are in the Charger and Symphonic band, although the symphonic band shouldn't have too many...

I'm saving up for a piccolo, it seems like some of the flutists may know some good brands and so I'll ask here. What are good piccolo brands?

We have a total of 15 flutes and 1 piccolo in marching band. For concert we add in a few flag flutes and I switch from piccolo to flute. Our whole band is approx. 150 people. We saw a band that had like approx. 20 piccolos and they were in tune. 15 flutes and 1 piccolo can't stay in tune. stare

LegolasGreenleaf That's how I think it should be. You can't hear flutes unless it's solo-like and even then it's hard to hear if it's in the lower or middle octave(sp). Exactly. I can never hear the flutes that play in the other band. Sometimes I can, but just barely.
