Tilting her head slightly to the side, studying the Seer for a second, Micoi then turned her head towards the newly arrived dragon beside her. Smiling at the taller woman, she noticed how... odd, compared to everyone else in the room, she looked. Well, perhaps not odd but loose, calm and... free. Why could she too be allowed to look like that? "Nice to meet you," she greeted her.

"A pleasure to meet you, too, even though there hasn't been much meeting, yet, as it were..." laughing, Kushina bowed her head to Micoi, caught the poor maid still standing beside the royal couple on Micoi's side, and tipped the delicate decanter she was holding, so the liquid started to pour down in the glass.

"And I'm sure the Queen would love something to drink," Kushina paused to lean forward a bit to sniff at the drink, "especially something as nice as this." When the glass was almost full, Kushina helped tip the decanter up again before turning back to Micoi.

"I heard they found you in Arinas. Dusis, and in particular Draqueen with it's... very special vultures, must be such a difference to wild, but beautiful, Arinas," leaning forward a bit, her eyes sparkling with the easily fund excitement and engagement for the topic, Kushina also, rather distractedly bowed her head quickly to the Seer, and managing to get out a passable greeting. Had she not been as interested in this topic and frankly, cared more about manners, she would have been more polite and given the Seer a more proper greeting.

First expression of the Blue Dragon Officer: ... a very... big woman. Make no mistake, not by size, although she was taller than Micoi, but by how much space she took up, and not all in a bad way. She seemed like a very well-balanced mix of childishness and seriousness, taking up space but at the same time knowing how to play her cards and when to take a step backwards.
Smiling at the maid, she said "thank you" before turnign her attention back onto the other dragon.
"Found and found, I've been at the same place for little more than century, really," she confessed with a slightly tilted head, feeling more like it was them that had come stumbling through the wilderness and she and Kanak had found them. It was a wonder, she felt, that they hadn't been attacked by any of the more dangerous youkai while they made their way north... But perhaps that was why they had been able to avoid the demons of Arinas, because they were traveling towards the one place where any trepassers would, with certainty, be killed off.
Glancing down into her glass, Micoi raised it and smelled at it. It smelled ok, quite nice even. She wasn't unfamiliar with alcohol, she had grown up with a youkai after all(which really was to generalize). However, she took them lightly and with caution, especially after she had gotten to try some funny brew made of Arinian pears... that had really hit the roof and it was a long way up to their roof (they did live in a temple-like palace). She almost felt like asking what it was made of.

Kushina tilted her own, now filled, glass towards the light, then winked at Micoi.

"Being found, hiding, and just staying in one place out of sight for where the people looking for you are quite often the same thing. Facinating, huh?" laughing softly, Kushina took a sip from the liquid staining her glass a deep wine and noticed the slight irritation in Micoi's voice. It wasn't obvious, but the dress and this high-to-do little party probably wasn't helping Micoi adjust very well.
If it'd been me, I would have waited to introduce her formally... But, I suppose we're all eager to have a Dragon Queen, as it were. Course, using trial by fire is always a good way to show mettle... if probably not a well-adjusted ruler. The dress probably isn't helping. She couldn't help noting that, but the Dragon Queen always seemed to be placed in such pretty, poofy things... at least on formal functions. She could probably get away with something closing in on "practical" in everyday life.

"I more see it as you people finally got the blindfold off. None of us were trying to hide, after all." By 'us', Micoi mean her and Kanak since she hadn't been trying to hide and she knew that he hadn't tried to hide her either. Alright, so some would insist on that living out in the wilderness in the north of Arinas was as close to hiding as you got but he had lived there before she came along so...

"Oooh, ow. I think somebody is a little upset at this situation. But then," Kushina paused and raised an eyebrow, seemingly not afraid at all at stating out loud the possible issues Micoi might have with being taken away from the life she had known.

"Who wouldn't be? I'm not going to say something as cliché such as "give it time, get to know him", but you're prbably going to have to do just that. Sometimes, something as fantastical as Dragon Eyes doesn't really seem worth the trouble, um?" Shrugging, Kushina took a another sip and grinning brightly.

"But then, what do I know?" Leaning back in the chair, Kushina seemed for a moment to want to lay her boots on the table. But, now, that would be much too rude for this occasion, besides the not-so-delicate words she'd just spoken.

"I hope I didn't offend," the apology was sincere, but there was no regret in her voice or expression.

Jett simply raised an eyebrow and looked at his Blue Officer. He seemed more amused than offended.

On her other side, Madiir smirked. Kushina was certainly different.

"I'm not offended, and I would lie if I said that my Dragon Eyes haven't been of great use to me. There have been some moments where I wouldn't have gotten far without them. For an instance, when Kanak found the hidden inner sanctuary in the youkai Lord's castle. We wouldn't have gotten it open if I hadn't used my Eyes. There are other occasions too," Micoi told the officer without explaining, she wasn't going to tell about the incident with Tenjou. "But I do not regret having them, no." She may not lie but she could certainly refrain from telling certain things.

OKay, it was now clearly time for Micoi to stop talking. Jett was already uncomfortable with her candor, but mentioning the Dragon Eyes, and her ability to use them beyond the occasional wish seemed downright risky. Hoping she would take a subtle cue, Jett gave her foot a distinct nudge with his own.
"So, Kushina, while I am sure I will recieve a formal report at a later date, do tell me a little about what you have seen lately." He kept his expression nonchalant, once again giving cues to keep the conversation light and easy.

Snorting lightly, Kushina put down her flute. The slight smile playing on her lips told that, at the least, Kushina enjoyed Micoi's willingness to say what she thought, and say it plainly.

"Well, don't let use become abuse. There's never been much knowledge about Dragon Eyes, how far they can go, such... We simply don't know when "too far" comes into play," Kushina seemed to be extremely unconerned with continuing the earlier line of conversation, though she was, admittedly, slightly uneasy at the thought of something like Dragon Eyes being used to flightily. Not because of what constitues a wish or not, but because of the possibility of the wearer simply forgetting that Dragon Eyes were extremely powerful, and could, feasibly, do massive amounts of damage if that was forgotten.

Kushina shrugged then and tilted her head, the darker tone as if blown away when she answered Jett's question.

"Oh, nothing much, really? The country is as beautiful as always, some officials here and there are complaining over tax, though, but when do they not? Hmm... The youkai activity have seemed to get more... active, as of late. Either as if someone's more actively ordering troops around, but it just doesn't seem to be only that," Kushina paused to tug gently on her loose ponytail, a frown on her face.

"And while that probably is it, it also seems as if the ones I fought were rather... jumpy? As if expecting something large to happen?" Shrugging, Kushina leaned back and drummed her fingers on the edge of the table.

((Oh… my… god… This is playing right in, I might not even have to provoke on my own. This is just lovely. Thank you, Karill and Chibi. Hahaha! XD))

Micoi felt the Dragon Lord's "hint", make no mistake. Instead of continuing her conversation with the Blue Officer, she glanced at the man beside her, almost seeking an explanation or reason for the nudge. She was surprised, to say the least, that he began talking to Kushina… about a completely different subject even! Was this really how it was here? That people preferred that you, instead of telling the truth, only told part of it, kept quiet or downright lied? Was this the way of the people of Dusis and the place she would have to call home for the rest of her life? Was this...

Beneath a silent surface, the young Queen-to-be's irritation that had been born earlier and only festered was giving way to anger, a frustration that had begun to simmer but was gaining more heat as the minutes passed by. Was this how she would have to act? Kanak may be a demon but he had never told her if he preferred her to lie or tell the truth to people. Moreover, these people, dragons just like herself, who were proclaiming to be better than the youkai wanted her to pretend, to put on the same kind of mask over her real feelings just as they did?

Kushina was suddenly, and quite rudely, interrupted by a chair being forced backwards over the marble floor, making a scraping noise to show its discontent. Micoi had stood up, not abruptly enough to make her chair fall over though. The dragon was staring angrily down at the tabletop that was covered with the beautiful plates and other silver. Suddenly her eyes snapped up to glare at the Dragon Lord. Her golden eyes remained on him for a second before her head snapped up to stare at all the occupants at the table she was it, but you got the feeling her angry eyes were direct to everyone, even those she could not see.

"No," she said in a loud and firm voice, her anger evident in her words. Her attention snapped back onto Jett, orbs of molten gold flashing with small lightnings. "I will not be quiet. I will not take up these fake masks that you're all wearing. I will not keep my tongue when you feel like it. I haven't done that through all my life and I will not start now. As of yet I have seen nothing but fake and superfluousness! I've always told the truth, whether it be for better or worse. But you don't seem to care for the truth!" Micoi was now backing around the chair and away from the table, putting distance between herself and everyone else.

"It seems like it wasn't Arinas that needed a clensing, but Dusis! So here's what I think about all this: screw you!"

((Now when I think about it, she's like a girl in her late teens (think 17-19) that has grown up on the countryside and then suddenly is shipped off to the high court and bethroded to the king. ^^; Poor girl.))
PostPosted: Wed Jan 03, 2007 4:38 pm

The entire room was silent. Dead silent. All eyes turned to the irate Queen-to-be and simply stared. Jett could feel a sympathetic flush of embarrasment creep over his cheeks. Or was that in rage? He had tried to be subtle, make no mistake. But how could she not understand her weighty position, and how she could not live for just herself? A sleeping rage welled up, and with a set jaw, Jett stood and took Micoi firmly by the arm. "Please sit down, my Queen." And, in a softer, but icy tone, audible only to her, "You are humiliating yourself, and I strongly suggest you hold your tongue for a while. No I am not suggesting you lie, but I do suggest you be subtle." As Jett turned to look at her, his eyes gleamed dark red.

"I will not!" Micoi yelled in reply and did the unthinkable... she slapped him, hard, and at the same time pulling her arm free. The hall seemed to grow deadly silent and still as the grave, the sound of flesh hitting flash harshly echoed through the air, followed by the Queen-to-be's angry steps as she backed further away from the Dragon Lord.

"I don't care if you think I'm humiliating myself! I'm no doll that you can move around as you please! I'm no parrot that will dutifully echo every word you say! You're demanding I give up all I've had until now when it is you who should be giving! You didn't grow up with a splatter circus as the freshest memory of your parents!!" It was like an avalanche had been started, and there was no stopping it now.

"And you!" Micoi whirled to point a slender finger at the Seer. "From how your aura comes off you seem powerful enough to have sensed me earlier and if you didn't some of the previous fortunetellers of yours should have been able to see where I was! My parents waited five year before they decided to return to Dusis! It was a wonder that no one sensed me during that time! And after that I've lived for nearly a century! You only have yourself to blame for not coming and getting me earlier!"

Micoi was once again eyeing the room as a whole, talking more to the 'Dragon Tribe' in general than the Seer or the Lord. All the things she hadn't noticed until now; the anger, frustration, sadness and confusion of having suddenly been snatched from the world she knew and grew up in and thrown into a complete bewildering place, came crashing down on her. And she was taking it all out on everyone present, because none of them seemed to understand. Her soul was crying out for someone to save her from this hell. Kanak!

Jett's expression turned emotionless, but the room almost seemed to grow...darker.

Madiir, about to speak up in anger about the insult, suddenly fell silent. His expression registered a sudden fear, but of what?

"The Queen is in hysterics. I would like some servants to escort her to her chambers. The feast will proceed without her presence." It was not a request, it was an order. Micoi was suddenly swarmed by a group of female servants, guiding her out of the room and back to her chambers. "Please also have Neith accompany the Queen in her quarters."

"What!?" Micoi cried enraged at the Dragon Lord's words and before she knew it she was suddenly being moved, with light force towards the doors she had entered through. "No!" She yelled determined and, with little to NO regard for the poor girls ordered to do their duty, she dug her heels into the floor (a great feat in itself seeing as it was made of marble). Whirled around, roughly pushing, more like shoving, some of the closest girls away and to the floor, Micoi forced her way passed the poor servants so that she was free of them and had a clear view of the dark dragon again.

In the back of her mind, she had sensed... something when the atmosphere seemed to grow heavier, but in her anger she had completely ignored it, for better or worse. How dared he do this? Just push her around as if she was some inanimate object he could do as he pleased with! ... Inanimate object... Her teeth clenched hard as she glared at her future husband. All of this... it really...

"You can't just push me around like you have the right! My parents may have moved to Arinas but I was born there so you're not even my king! I don't need to listen to you if I don't want to!"

Behind the enraged dragon, pale violet swirls suddenly whirled to life, creating a small, motionless tornado. The poor maids, who had all by now gotten to their feet, suddenly stared with frightened eyes at what the whirlwind revealed.

Looking at the girl who he had raised with sadness in his eyes, Kanak raised a hand towards her. It hurt him to see her like this, he knew that she wasn't far from tears. "Micoi..." he called softly to her.

"No!" the dragon yelled sharply, shaking her head vehemently. She could not have recognized the voice itself in her emotional state. Her eyes still on the Dragon Lord, the future of Dusis, almost literary, ignored everything else. "Just admit it! You don't need me!" Her eyes were now filling with tears. "None of you really do! You could just as well have an animated marionette with your precious Dragon Eyes! I hate this!" She shut her eyes hard, making the crystal drops flow down her cheeks. "I wish--!"

"No!" Kanak screamed, suddenly terrified, and swiftly moved forward, pulling the Dragon Queen to him, holding her back firmly against his chest. He couldn't allow her to...

Micoi's golden eyes shot open in surprise and shock at hearing the sound. She knew that voice... When she was suddenly pulled back and into a familiar embrace everything seemed to crack and break as her tears suddenly came cascading down her face. Kanak! she cried in her mind and, with some difficulty, turned in his arms, burying her face in his chest. This she knew, this she loved and this she clung to. Kanak would always hold part of her heart, whatever happened...

Holding her closer, wanting with all his heart to heal her pain and sadness, to kiss her tears away like so many other times, the youkai slowly opened s**t eyes. Without raising his head he glanced up and glared accusingly at all the assembled in the ballroom. He should have known this would happen... He couldn't curse himself enough for letting her go so easily without doing more for her.

As the dark haired demon glared at the dragons, the same swirls that had made him appear inside the castle flared up around him and the dragon he held on to. A second later they were gone. How in the name of all the Elemental Spirits had a pure-blooded youkai been able to enter the Dragon Castle?! It should have been impossible for him to slip in undetected!

((Sum secret info! ;P XD;
For Chibi: Mer said that Liozu-Empress probably also felt Jett's youkai surfacing.
For Kamikits: Kanak just teleported the both of them to Micoi's room. =D And since I want Aiketh to meet him (he'll tell her some important stuff), please have her run there. XD;; You could say that, because she's the Black Dragon Officer and Head of Security, she sensed where they teleported to.
=D That's all people! CRY at the touching relationship Micoi and Kanak have! .... XD;; Kidding.))
