in our band, there are about 5 trumpets. 1 is really good. 3 are pretty good. 1 is kind good, bordering between kinda good and kinda not good. (me smile )
and im the only 2nd trumpet and the only female trumpet player so far.

I have my new silver Bach Omega. And I lurves it.
I was the only female trumpet my sophmore year out of five, too.
This year, I'm the only senior out of four and the other three are freshies. I'm scared to go off and leave them. Especially since my director now has to make next year's show a low brass show. crying Not enough Trumpets and I don't think we're getting in but TWO freshmen. I worry about next year. But I shouldn't. But I do.
Does anyone else feel this way?! domokun

wow... I envy all of you and your crazy-sized bands.
When I was in highschool the most trumpets we had was 5. 2 of us were good (me and my friend Kris usually played 1st) 2 of us were kinda bad but not terrible 1 was brand new to band and music
and because of how bad our music program was, gr. 8s in Junior band were thrown right into the gr. 9-12 band... Ouch. I was stuck on 1st trumpet in gr. 9 and I never left that spot. rolleyes

wow my highschool band compared to those bands is tiny. We have like 9 trumpets in total right now and I think about 4 of them are leaving this year. Then we have to wait for about half of 1st semester to get some more trumpet players again because then they will be ready to join band. Me and my buddy get to move up to first trumpet next year though so we are pumped but it means we have to practice like crazy over the summer because this year we were third but all the 2nd and 1st trumpets are leaving. He started giving us 2nd trumpet though to prepare us and over the summer we have to practice crazily. Should be fun eh?

Ok, so I just got a pretty new shiny silver trumpet and the mouthpiece is a 7E? i guess It doesn't look much different than the 7C i have for my cornet but It feels a lot different, and its harder or me to hit the higher notes I usually have no problem hitting
is it just because they're each for a different instrument, or can someone explain the difference so i don't look like an idiot when I go to my band teacher to use a different mouthpiece

aww...I just graduated high school, I picked up the trumpet a year ago, I've gotten pretty good with it, so I might join a community jazz band, anyone recommend a specific brand of trumpet? I'll end up buying a yamaha, or something, with a I think the size mouth piece "c7"?? I think thats what it was, I probably forgot, but I can play the b scale two octaves higher...

Hey I was just wondering if I could get some help from some fellow trumpet players wink . How do you tongue sixteenth note triplets? My band director just gave me this new song to try and work on for a solo and it has about 5 sections with sixteenth note triplets and I was so confused when I saw it. So can you help me out please?

Use one of these patterns: Tu Ku Tu Tu Tu Ku Ku Tu Ku Or whatever makes you comfortable! Blow strong air through, I have always found the the more air support I give myself, the harder it is to get a messy triple tongue. If you have repeated triplet patterns, you could even use a double tonguing pattern with accents on the first beat of the triplet. So, Tu Ku Tu Ku Tu Ku Tu Ku Tu Ku Tu Ku
What piece is it?
