Jewels Underne

Jewels looked up to Sally and cringed a little.
"Oh.. oh yes.. yes.. fine, p.. positivelyshiny." She was a terrible liar as she sat sullenly stirring her soup.
After a few minutes of silence she sighed, took the napkins and started to mop up the mess.

"D.. do you think she'sbetterthanme?" She shook her head, Sally's expression, or lack thereof made her impossible to read. "Demona I mean. I... what makes her so special?" She huffed, crossing her arms and going back to her childish sulking.

Dashner sighed as he walked into the Creepiteria, rubbing his forehead. Exams gave him headaches, he discovered during the final exams last school year. He yawned a little and made his way through the lunch line, sitting at an empty table. He liked talking to others, but maybe just maybe...

Then he saw Felix Faun. He hadn't seen Felix in awhile, but he shrugged and waved.
"Felix! Bro! Wanna sit with me?"

Sally tilted her head, her tendrils subconsciously grabbing more napkins from the near tables to help out. Jewels seem to have a serious inferiority complex when it came to this Demona. Though Sally didn't truly understand any of it, she didn't want to say the wrong thing and make her friend feel worse.

A lot of the discarded magazines she had collected over the years came flooding back to her mind. Though most of the stories didn't make any sense--most likely from missing pages--she knew this had to be a case when cheering her up meant saying what she wanted to hear. Right?

"Better than you?" she started "I do not see how she could be. After all, she wasn't elected Tombcoming Queen and she isn't super shiny." Good job, Sally, she told herself, that sounded like you know what you're talking about!

"So...what are you two up to tonight?"

Hellene's talons clicked rapidly over over the screen of her iCoffin, completely engrossed in her hexting. Now that her mother had upgraded the family plan to include unlimited hexting, Hellene was finding it remarkably easy to keep in touch with her sister Ocypete.

"Hm? Nothing special. Most of my sisters are stressed over mid-terms so it'll be pretty quiet although I'm sure it will be high in tension. Melly changed her major again and is now crying about how hard it is to be a Grimglish Major so I think she'll change it again and I'm just going to have to put on headphones in the meantime."

She plucked a delicately rolled piece of red snapper booshi from her lunch. It tried to bite her chopsticks so she smacked it against the tray a few times.

"My last mid-term is photography and I've already finished the project, juxtaposing monsters in street fashion in high fashion vein-ues and it took forever to talk the ladies at the Chain'el, Were-sace and Cryptian Dior to let me photograph in the stores so I better get a good grade on it, although I'm still not quite sure what I'm going to say about it I figured that I can just get up in front of everyone and start talking and something will come to me, it usually does."

Now tamed, she ate the snapper roll contentedly. This was a gift from Deuce, whose cooking mid-term involved making an awful lot of these. Hellene, Cleo and Lagoona split the lot of them. Weirdly, a lot of students weren't into the idea of fresh booshi.

Felix gulped as he saw Dashner; he smelled like a field of daises and he wasn't too confident about it. He looked to his left then right, not sure what to do.

He waved back, thinking that was all he could do. Dashner waved him over to his table, Oh man...he wants me to come over there?! Smelling like I rolled through a pile of dandelions?! No way!

He gulped and shrugged, giving a grin, Well, he won't judge me right? After all, we are friends.

He walked over and sat down, letting Dashner have his distance, "Hey, man, what's going on?"

Willow somehow managed to make her way to the Creeperteria, though the whole trip had proven difficult. Someone had run into her and sent her glasses flying off her face in the halls, shattering the lenses. She wasn't sure how she'd study or take the rest of her exams now...

With what was left of the broken spectacles hooked onto her vest, she'd gotten her tray and was already heading to a nearby unoccupied table. She just hoped she wouldn't accidentally run into anyone on the way.

"Hey, man, what's going on?"

"Hey bro," Dashner smiled and gave Felix a brofist. "What's up?"

Jewels looked up, adjusted her glasses and a little and let a small smile creep across her face.

"y.. you mean that?" That was true, she WAS tombcoming queen! Even if her father had flatly informed her that no, that did not mean she could wear a tiara or crown to school. Bah, he just didn't understand. What was the point in being royalty if you didn't get to flaunt some sparkly headwear!?

"She isn't shiny no, she's all.. all... Matte! Yes! Boring dull matte! " She made a face. "ew"

Perry's day was not going well. So far he was pretty certain he'd flunked Clawculus, he managed to snap a string on his bass in boosic, Lin had come a little too close to his chop class project and he'd had to spend a great deal of time trying to will it to work again, and he wasn't convinced his knowledge of ancient Mesopotamian sagas was quite up to the standard expected. He'd mostly made up an entire essay about Gilgamesh, basing a great deal, he suspected, on a boovie he once saw.
Oh dear.

He searched for a mostly empty table, not particularly wanting the inevitable How you think you did? questions he could already hear around him.

Already wallowing in self pity and melodrama, he wasn't paying too much attention when a ghoul very nearly ploughed straight into him. He ducked out the way just in time, managing by some miracle not to spill his tray's entire contents down the back of a seated werecat.

"Woah!"

Well that pulled him out of his thoughts. Nothing like the threat of hot soup all down your front to distract you from your other problems.

"Watch it you.. " He began, but his eyes settled on the broken glasses hooked to her vest and any annoyance immediately melted away into knowing sympathy.
Nothing worse than broken specs and no spare pair.
That had happened to him once, a misjudged joke at Manny's expense and a broken nose later, he still hadn't learned his lesson about NOT taunting to minotaur though.

His tone softened a little.

"You ok? "

Willow hadn't intended to run into anyone, having hoped she could manage getting through the crowd without issue. Of course that'd end terribly, it was just her luck! Seems she's had some decently bad luck all day, considering how it was likely she did terrifyingly bad on her exams. Even if she was new, she wished she'd done better!

Her attention was dragged back from that whole issue, nearing having run into one of the students. Barely managed to keep her tray in her hands, if they hadn't already been shaking.

"I-I'm really sorry!" she said as soon as she'd realized what had happened. Oh, just great...Barely been here a week or so and she already may have made an enemy!

"H-huh...? O-oh, I'm fine." Wait...her vision may be terrible, but that voice sounded familiar..."Um...A-Aren't you Perry..?"

Sally nodded, patting her shoulder "Yeah! She could never be as shiny as you!" she said. It really seemed to work! It made her feel better. Sally felt better too, seeing Jewels at least a little happier.

"That'd be me.. "

But he found he had totally blanked on HER name. Curses. What was it? Something planty... Daisy? no... no... bigger... greener. Fern? Ash? Oak? Willow? yes.. .that was it! wasn't it? Now he was starting to doubt himself again.

"Hey, you really look like you need a hand w... ghoul... yeah, let's go over uh.. here!"

He guided her over toward the empty table.

"What happened to your glasses?"

Wow she was blind, poor ghoul. He wondered if Headmistress Bloodgood would let someone off exams if they couldn't read the stupid paper. hmmm.

Jewels giggled, clearly enjoying the complements.

"well true.. although thereisthatdiamondghoul...ooooshe'ssoshiny... " she started to babble and it stopped being comprehensible. something about sparkles and rhinestones.

The ghoul followed not far behind, or rather was guided to the table. Best not run into anyone again, or else she might not be so lucky. That'd make for a worse day...

Willow smiled a bit, "S-Someone bumped into me and knocked my glasses off. They're pretty old, s-so they broke as soon as they hit the floor." Right now, she just hoped that she didn't end up running into anyone in the chaotic place like the halls after this..

"yeesh, that really sucks. "

He sat, adjusting his own glasses as he spoke.

"But I suppose you gotta look on the bright side, least we only have half the day left to survive through."

He chuckled and prodded at his soup suspiciously, anything to distract himself from several more hours of exams and presentations.
