Kaz had been watched Desdemona before Jae approached him, gazing at her outfit with disapproving golden eyes as she moved about the deck and attracted countless pairs of lustful pirate eyes. But his attention duly turned away, he gave Jae a smile. "Fantastic. Another one of your hidden skills revealed." A brief glance to the captain who had been walking down with her, eyeing the maps in her hand for a moment. "What have you been doing so early?"

Lycear smiled lightly at her words...they were well to hear that his son was managing, not that he didn't think he couldn't. Kaznec had always rose to challenges presented....that's why he was Commander of the Guard, not because he was Lycear's son. And a smile as well at the mention of Jaebelltiah...like Eilynne said, she was good for Kaz in that respect. "Good to know they are both well, I would be loathe to lose either of them. Watch for Riders, Lady Eilynne...there's been more than enougn sightings near and far to make all us of dragon blood uncomfortable."
Now, Sevilin was wary of this creature and he stood, looking down at him, though he only had the creature in hight by maybe a foot maybe a foot and a half. "How do you know so much?" Oh yes he was rather upity now, narrowing his eyes and widening his stance a bit as if in preparation for a fight response to the one before him as he continued to show just how much he knew. "You think spouting such things gains you favor with me for whatever it is you are trying to get from me? I find it an aggressive move on your part."
"Hardly hidden, you just don't get to see it much. Koto doesn't let me cook and the only time I ever really get to is when I'm at your place, which are times that are few and far between." Shrugging modestly as she always had, "But I'm glad you enjoy it." Giving a smile and a nod. "Strategizing. That's what I do among other things remember? Just doing some clever routing really. I've been kind of working since last night. But at least I see you went out and had your fun. You smell like open air."
Headbutt knocked him over, and he was right back up and ramming his sister with the ram like horns they both shared. That's just what happened. "We have to bring him something or he'll be really angry when he finds us gone. And I did hear something!"
SHe blinked to Thobias. And duly clapped her hands together and bat her eyes at him after that kiss, playing girly for the moment. "Oh I love it when you do that, it just sounds so rustic and dashing." Giving a rather girlish giggle before clearing her throat and attempting to regain herself. "Yes well...that dragoness, what's-her-face...she's traipsing around again and distracting...makes my temper teeter if you knwo what I mean."

He nodded to her logic, again feeling rather relieved that she was one of the few that wouldn't hesitate to correct him in spite of his status. "Koto doesn't know what he is missing." Tilting his head slightly though as he remembered something. "The meatloaf was a bit too salty though, in my opinion. It's a pity you were called away, in the middle of a meal too... Was there something very important the Captain needed your expertise on?" A slight frown but then gazing at her in amusement. "Open air?"

"They have my personal protection as does many of those on that ship, even if tehy do not know it. I owe them all a great debt for being willing and able to come out and assist me in something that determines far more than whether or not my plants will grow come spring." Her eyes took on an almost glowing light and she frowned. "Riders...how very unfortunate. I will be on the lookout for them. Perhaps extra measures will be required." Thus morphing back into her raven form. Do call if anything else happens, dragonlord. I'll check in another time.
"You told me. Your mind, heart, and soul, tell me many things, brave elf." He gave a grin at his words and shook his head. "You know more than you think. The Laerethe are no stranger to you yet you do not know of all our ways. A luck guess, I should think." Rahsaveer held up his hands in a gesture of peace and then beckoned to the ground, taking a seat himself. "I mean you no harm, elf. In fact, I require your assistance if what I wish to see through can be done. It must be willing though you've already completed the first step of it. That cannot be undone."
She stumbled back for a moment before knocking him again, interlocking their horns as they battled in their childish way. "He's always pissy no matter what. That's all he knows how to be!" She listened again and then paused, falling back when her brother knocked into her. "Wait! I heard it too..."
"Ah, the ruby sparkles like fire inside you. Indeed, Desdemona and I shall have yet another chat." He gave her a dashing grin to go along with her praise, well aware of her joy at his more eloquent moments. "She'll try to seduce me," he warned though he wasn't particularly worried. "But here I thought I'd get to be the brave hero and save the dashing maiden. Then again, on your ship My Lady, the womenfolk save themselves. I shall take care of it." Bending into a low bow, he blew her a kiss and headed below deck. "Desdemona?"

"Koto misses a lot, but I suppose it's worth the lack of me showcasing to have a proper bed to sleep in at night. And right, too salty...I'll have to watch that next time." Plopping her hands on her hips and flicking her tail lightly before a sigh, "I can always make another meal, or more pointedly you can make one. Have to practice. And it was just the maps...routing around obstacles and the like. Working between both ships can be a long process." Thusly turning that particular look of hers on him that said she was amused, but endearingly so. "Yes open air." Poking him in the nose then with a slender finger, "You would smell it too if you would open your nose to it. It smells like...well..." She blinked, at a loss for words a moment, bringing her hadn back together to tap that same finger against her lips. "...I suppose it's hard to describe...it just smells clean and crisp and free."
Great so he was being told that he was betraying himself, more or less. Well damn it. "You are merely a story where I came from." Stories that turned to be real, he was glad when Andal was closed. Watching at the other set back and Sevilin himself merely leaned against the wall and sunk down to be sitting again...he felt drained in this place and it wasn't pleasant. He was still blaming the sun.
Literally head to head for the moment as they argued, his hooves scraping and slipping against worn wood, finding little purchase on the surface unlike his sister's feet. "You said a bad word!" Before a yelp and falling forward on top of her as she felt back, the dominio effecting taking over. "See! I told you!"
A dismissive wave of her hand. "Pish posh, seduce you? Come now, I think I'm far more exciting that she is...tail and all included. Though if you can't but help to succumb...I suppose I could bathe you in rum afterward." After all, they weren't in a relationship and she had no more say over he could sleep with more than he did over her. "Don't take forever and a day Mister Robins."

Oh she was stalking those little voices. her breath even had a smokey look to it. she was not happy. and if one of those children even so much as had the same color eyes as hunter in that women's body she was going to kill both of them. yes, keep talking. you didn't hear a thing...
Mister Richard's was watching Savvy with keen supervisory instinct. and he showed her how to do the knots, what commands meant what, and how to work the lines and rigging. then...well then he left her alone. the best way to learn was to do it.
Malik noted the human and once he was done, decided to comment.
"your footwork is novice at best, and while your sword skill is most likely on par to a human of your youth, your footwork will get you killed."
before turnign his attention back to his daughter and her crew work.
messages went from birdnest to crew to bosun, to master-at-arms, to first mate, to captain in a matter of moments. Captain Fang. looked up from his records. his long fingernails, carefully shaped over the years into claw like form, and his sharp eyes from a weathered face that had but one ponytail of hair on his bald head. he gave a hand gesture, and that was that.
before long, shyrae was under assault. long ranged rifles and deck cannons opened fire on her. Captain Fang felt there was no place for a woman on the sand sea, and any woman on it was a curse and as such needed to be eliminated.

Caden paused for a moment before he looked up to wards Malik with a raised eyebrow, notes from the peanut gallery how nice to hear them. "Thanks," Was all he said to the drow before the man walked away, over ten years of training and what he did was suppose to be considered as properly executed and yet he was still called a novice? Not everyone has the life span of a thousand years to learn how to be perfect with their foot work. "Everyone is a critic..." He muttered to himself before he gathered his things and headed to wards the Galley, he needed a drink.

"Yes, I'll make it next time and you can taste it." He nodded, understanding how stressful a strategist's job could be sometimes. You had to have the right mindset and the ability to rationalize things out and anticipating potential dangers. Analysis of her job duly stopped as he was poked and rather stunned for a brief moment. "I..." How was he supposed to open his nose? "You're either talking in riddles or metaphors, Jae. But I think it would be nice to smell 'free'..." Though his head suddenly jerked up and turned in the direction of cannon fire sounds, all senses on alert again. "Did you hear that?"

Shyrae shattered the only weapon that came close enough to actually hurt her with a blast of magic and then she disappeared. Deciding to mess with the captain a bit and test her own abilities, she popped up on the other side of the ship, lingering in the air a moment before disappearing again and reappearing on yet another side of the ship. There was no pattern, rhyme or reason as to why or where she ended up. It was merely to see what she could do versus what the captain could do.
"There are many stories out there about us. Many have forgotten what we have done and can do. We feel no need to remind. The less that know the safer we are." He pulled up his knees and turned a glance to Sevilin. "I can help accustom you to this place's climate and schedule if you are willing to do something in return. It is not long, tiresome or painful and it will help this voyage your daughter is on in the end."
Thobias merely shrugged. He had no intentions of letting Desdemona seduce him but he felt it fair to warn Gem ahead of time. No, he wasn't tied to her in that way of a relationship but still, it was nice to know who your bed partner slept with in case you contracted something. He, personally, refused to sleep with Gem if she was with Hunter until she had bathed and given it a day or so. That just wasn't pleasant in the least. Catching sight of the dragon as he hit the cargo deck, he wrapped an arm around her waist and more or less swung her into a dance. "Desdemona, my darling. What are you up to this early?"
She slapped her hand over her mouth then looked both ways. 'I didn't mean to..." But they fell into a pile of each other and she pushed him so he'd move off of her. "Well, what is it?" Pushing herself to crawl on her four clawed feet, she skittered across the wooden planks. "I don't hear it no more though."

This wasn't hard, she hated work, but this wasn't hard, probably because she was elven. She learned once or twice and it became memorised and thus stuck in her head and she could repeat it over and over, watching the mental image in her head to help her do such things. Rope was easy to measure in accordance to the length of her forearm equalling out, keeping track by sounds around her. Yeah she could do this. So there stupid Hawk. A pause in motions, ears twitching and look up at a dull pop sort of sound, frowning for a moment as she tried to decipher it.
"I've no desire to adapt here. I'm not intending on staying long enough to adapt." After all he had a pregnant wife to get back to who was probably quite pissed over napkin rings right about now. "But, I am more interested in helping my daughter...sometimes children need help even if they don't ask for it. What is it you want to do?" Though a particular sound drew his attention somewhat.
"Yes you did!" Thusly lightly popped her on the head between her horns, as was normal fashion. "You know better! You'll get us in trouble!" By who? He didn't know, but he assumed anyone. Flailing a moment as he was pushed off and he worked at righting himself back to his hooves, clip clop again sounding with his steps. "Maybe it's hiding?"
Bell gave a smile at his reaction to being poked, she liked to catch him off guard, it was just fun. She knew that was going to go over his head, but she said it none the less. "You're always sniffing for danger and duty, gotta turn your nose from such things, as well as eyes and ears to understand what I mean. No worries, you'll catch the smell one day and then you won't be puzzled anymore." Her sharp ears as well then making her turn the direction he had jerked his own look to. "Yes I did...and that's never good."
Gem looked up from giving a what for to one of her crew at the familiar sound of cannon fire. Had she been a weaker woman, she may have paled...that was not a pleasant sound in this area of the sands. Could mean the Serpent. Pulling out her spyglass, she gave a look through it, scanning the seas. "Damn it all....all hands on deck!" No no no, did not want to within sight range at all of that thing.

The Captain of the Serpent came on deck, and watched. no one was doing anything without his say so. there was no pattern, but years on teh sea made notice of simple things. like for example, magically transporting one self from point to point did cause a slight visual disturbance in teh area one was going to. it wasn't anything someone could see unless you had spent hours, days, years, just staring into space for the sole purpose of learning how a fly disturbed the air. either that or you were in a slightly drug induced trance.
Again, subtle hand signals. no words spoken. the next time Shyrae popped into life..she was going to be shot. now where, that might not be fatal. but blood was blood and it would tell.
Hunter jerked his head up at the sound. too far away for it to be aimed at them, but close enough to know that someone was heading in thier direction.
"all hands! battlestations! I want every inch of my sails filled with wind, and I want a head count right now, mister Ricards! I want to know if any one on this ship is missing that might have attracted attention."
The ship turned into a bees nest of activity, and hunter was giving orders relayed through Richards.
Malik had himself crawled up the rigging and took a look out with longer reaching elven sight. hmm. that must be the Serpent. good lord that was a monster of a ship. before whistling for Savvy's bird, neverminding it laying on his arm.
"Daughter...take a look at this!"
Desdemona got swept up, and pressed right against him letting her tails caress his leg before giving him one of those viper about to strike looks.
"Oh sweet first mate robins...you don't know if your cpatain has any little ones on board, do you?"

There was one flaw in Captain Fang's little plan and that was the flaw Shyrae was counting on more than anything. This plane had never truly had nightmares, she knew that by the reaction the horses had gained when they'd boarded the ship and each time they popped in and out of sight over there. Knowing that little fact, she knew that most people didn't realize that nightmares didn't use magic to use their accelerated speed. It was a natural ability and untraceable through magical threads. She wasn't counting on the Captain being able to see where she was going to pop up but somehow he managed to.
She felt the shot before she heard it. It sliced through her skin and exited behind her, managing to catch Spyrit's flank in the process. Fiery pain laced up her chest and seh hissed even as heat of a different kind filled her. The kind of heat that occurred when translocation was used. Her necklace was glowing with the various runes on it and when it cooled she and her horse fell and hit the boards of the lower deck of the Chimera. "Ow...Daddy..." She knew the safety rune that had activated and knew it would dump her either in the last safe place she was at or nearest one who would keep her safe. Her father was around and as the initiator of the runes, it chose him.
"I am aware of that as well, elf. Your home is in another place. But being able to stand the sun without it burning out your eyes would be a welcome respite, no?" He was about to answer when the roar of cannonfire and then the subsequent elf falling out of midair startled him. Rahsaveer jumped when the girl and her horse came tumbling down, rolling behind some barrells to avoid being kicked by the frantic horse before she merely disappeared. Gesturing to the girl, he frowned, "She's hurt."
She growled when he bopped her but made no move to hit him back. "Why would it do that?" Shaking her head, she lifted her head and listened then frowned again. "I don't like this at all..." She glanced around the area and then wandered back to the jewels. "Whatever it is, I think it's gone. Come on. We need to get more sparklies."
Thobias' eyebrow raised and he shook his head. "There are no children that I know of on this ship and Gem isn't into hostages or snatching children so I would say in fact that no, she does not." That answered his question easily enough. "Did you hear something?" Dipping her back and lightly letting his fingers cascade over her skin.

A certain burning sensation on the back of his hand drew his attention away and a second later the cause was revealed as Shyrae and Spyrit came crashing down literally out of thin air between the elf and the Laerethe. He was at her side in a moment, pulling her up and probing at the spot where blood was coming from, nevermind if it was getting everywhere. "Shyrae, what happened?" Calm as ever in his questioning, panicking never did anyone any good. Turning a breif look up to Rashaveer, then back to his daughter.
"Because maybe it wants to play? We were playing hide and seek, remember?" Ducking behind his sister as if hiding behind her for the moment, the sound of metal on wood as he nervously shuffled his hooves somewhat. But it seemed she was more interested in jewels. "But we don't have any pockets to keep them in."

Caden was in the Galley, slowly drinking on a large cup of water when he heard a loud thud below him, sounded like something struck the floor and hard. "What the hell was that?" He asked himself and got up to go look for the source of that noise. It took him a little while but slowly Caden made his way below, dressed of course since he didn't want to be topless much longer, and looked around until he found what he was searching for. Though he didn't expect to see Shyrae in the ship since he knew she was out on her horse, and she was bleeding at the same time as well. Though most humans reacted in a negative way to the sight of blood Caden was calm since during his job he has seen his far share of wounds, form light to fatal. "Shyrae!" He didn't shout in panic but shock, she was hurt but how the hell did she get injured and how did she get here? He wandered to her a little but stopped as he now saw her father. He was calm and in control which was a good thing. "Is there anything I can do sir?" He asked for where he stood, he did not want to get in the man's way since he could probably help his daughter more than Caden can.

Mister Richards was quick in his duties, and came about only as Shyrae was landing. that got a frown..but he wasn't going to give the Captain more ammunition..or at least not that much ammunition.
So back up on deck with him.
"the dark elf is the one that attracted attention. my guess is she was out giving her horse a run and came across the Serpent. nothing that I noted said she was hurt...she probably only just came within range. seeing as she was below deck in a rather startled fashion, I'd guess she used some kind of magic to transport here."
Hunter frowned. At least she hadn't been provoking them.
"Alright. any medical treatment she needs we need to get taken care of immediately. I want to head directly to the chasm as fast as the wind can take us. Send the message to the Claw, have Bell get herself prepared as quickly as we can. no time for a trial run. the Serpent isn't fast, but she doesn't have to be. we get in range of her guns and our speed will be for naught."
glancing at Savvy.
"Handle the right ropes, elf-woman. I want you paired with Michael and Jeremia. Drake, James and Samuel, take left rigs and make sure these sails are full as possible. If you need any assistance on either side I want you switching to four and two setups as needed. Richards, make sure the guns are loaded and prepared just in case, then set everyone to making us as fast as possible. I want the only thing that can keep the Gale Claw ahead of us is her wings."
Desdemona let herself dip back, gracing the deck with her fingers before crooking her leg up on his hp and pulling herself back up a breath from him.
"you hear them? children's voices. and they're after 'shinies'."
still in a softer seductive tone. maybe he could get her to help find these two. and if he didn't know about them, then they weren't his kids. some secret the captain was hiding, perhaps.
The crew of the Serpent, didn't cheer or provoke any response after her injury. onyl one man in a rowboat went to gather blood from the sand, and brought it back to the captain.
Fang looked at the container, and diped his finger in to taste the bloody sand.
"Elf and horse blood. adn it's real enough. general heading that she was coming from, we'll take that with a more westernly approach. if she's ship bound, they'll either head back the way the came, or toward the chasm that recently opened, hoping to get into the salt beds. we'll meet them there."
Fangs voice was hoarse, gravelly...before he retired back to his cabin. his orders carried out by shout and whipcrack. his cabin was unlike the other captains. there was no bed, only a pile of pillowed against the back wall laterns lit the interior, and only a low desk to one side. racks of hanging plants and such on one wall, and a row of skulls below them. each had a label.
Fang sat on his pillows crosslegged, and took a massive pipe and set it before him. the long tube that held the end of the pipe he placed on the corner of his mouth, while putting powered substance and water in it. then he lit it, and let himself find another world, a sight beyond the sight of other men.
