Earendil chuckled. "Yes, you could say that. Leyenda and Kelirahc ... Aurin and Rhea ... Lady Alena and Sir Elros ..."

How much more amazing could things be? With the exception of Serenity and Beren, that had to be the very most amazing thing Earendil had ever seen or ever heard of.

Lin chuckled, she had been thinking of other things, but those were also amazing stories in their own right.

"Sometimes it's hard to imagine how chance just brings them together," Lin murmured.

But chance worked with them too really.

"If indeed it is chance at all," Earendil replied softly, looking thoughtful. "It hardly seems possible that this could all happen by chance."

He looked down at her and smiled. "I don't know. Perhaps it is by chance. It truly is amazing, whatever it is."

Unless there was someone... something out there directing their movements Lin couldn't imagine it being anything but chance, though fate was a more scary term to use.

"It is..." Lin murmured, "As well as to be a part of. I mean, it's also one thing to hear something amazing happened but to be there when it does."

"That is very true," Earendil agreed. "And to have traveled as much as you and I ... you more so than I ... and have nothing bad happen ... we live charmed lives indeed."

He grinned at her. "Not that I'm complaining."

Indeed, they had been very lucky, and for that she was very grateful. She hadn't thought about it before how badly things could have turned out.

"Of course not," she smiled, "It's amazing how far we've come from when we first met."

Earendil chuckled softly, remembering.

"You were as clingy to your father as Miyuki is to us," he grinned. "But at least she's learned now that it's all right to let us out of her sight. That we won't disappear, or abandon her."

He looked thoughtful. "Let's just hope she doesn't become quite as independent as you were," he teased her. "She'll just vanish one day and we won't know where she's gone to."

Lin had almost forgotten that, there had been a time where she followed her father everywhere. She blushed at that and pouted up at Earendil.

"I wasn't that bad...."

Earendil chuckled and put one finger to Lin's pouting lips. "Are you sure about that?" he smiled at her. "You were quite stubborn about staying until your father returned, and then when he did you were attached to his leg almost as if you really were attached to him."

"I was stubborn about a lot of things," Lin blushed a bit.

Even though what Earendil said was true, even Lin had done the running tackle hug when she was little (though all she could reach was a leg).

"Well, I'm not arguing," Earendil grinned at Lin. "After all, I'm sure it was only your stubbornness that allowed you to keep coming to the palace for lessons on your own for all those years. And where would we be if that hadn't been the case?"

He chuckled softly. "But we can definitely say that Miyuki is your daughter. Adopted she may be, but she is very much like you."

That made her giggle inside, to be told something like that made her feel good. It was also just down right amusing.

"She is..."

She thought about her younger years, and that caused her to giggle because she realized something.

"You know... I wouldn't have taken those lessons in High Elven if it weren't for your father."

Earendil blinked, sincerely surprised by that statement. "My father?" he repeated. "How so? He didn't tell you to, did he? Or challenge you?"

Though that didn't make sense either; he hadn't known English, how could he have challenged Lin at all?

"Do you know how annoying it is to a child when she cannot understand what a person is saying?" Lin inquired rhetorically, "Don't forget your father couldn't speak Common Tongue back then, and he really had no interest in learning it."

Well as if it wasn't obvious by the fact he was a full grown man and couldn't (or wouldn't) even butcher the language in a try.

"Also, this was back when your father was," she tried to find a nice word for it, "less than nice. He knew Gaians like myself didn't know High Elven and I think he took advantage of that, or at least as a child I felt he was purposely talking over my head. It wasn't fair, and he had no interest in learning Common Tongue this I knew, so if he couldn't be bothered to learn Common Tongue, I would bother to learn High Elven, because I didn't want him talking over my head anymore."

"Less than nice," Earendil smiled. "Tactful. And you qualify him as nice now?"

There was a sadness to his smile when he thought about his father. He loved his father, but he could not quite bring himself to respect him the way he knew he ought. His father simply did not inspire it. Especially where Lin was concerned.
