Sabrina chuckled a bit as Felicia stood up, approaching the shell that contained the withdrawn Camerae. She pawed at it a bit more, eventually knocking the shell over onto its side. Wearing a rather indifferent expression, the Pokemon walked over to Mike, sniffing at his clothes; she pawed at him a bit as well. There was something intriguing about this boy, but she couldn't quite deduce what it was. It felt as though he was different, unusual.

Nina laid down, closing her eyes, a plethora of thoughts running through her mind. The one thing that was most prevalent was the desire of nabbing a Smeargle. What an absolutely wonderful Pokemon that will be to have on my team, she thought. The ability to learn any attack whatsoever-- ah! I'll raise that thing to be the most beastly Pokemon that anyone has ever seen. I'll show them. I'll show them all that I'm a force to be reckoned with.

A smile crept onto her face.

Mike looked in with similar apathy as the Espeon walked forward, her face inches from his. She sniffed his clothes (well, shorts, his shirt had burned off, remember?) and tapped him with her paw. Felicia looked up into the boy's eyes and leaned closer for another sniff. The boy puffed a small bit of smoke in the fox's face. "That what you were wonderin' about, dude?" he said with a chuckle as the Pokemon wiped her nose.

Camerae remained in his shell, ocassionally poking out to inspect if the Espeon was still there before popping back in.

Kasiya wasn't wrong when she assumed that Keegan wasn't paying attention, as he was currently staring out at the ground down below him. Nothing got one's attention better having a narrow elbow driven into their ribcage, and Keegan jumped a little before turning to glare at the blonde. "No, it's okay, I wasn't using that kidney anyway," he grumbled, very much wishing Kasiya would have just left him alone.

He glanced quickly around at the others, knowing now that he would have to say something, at the very least, and though he had an idea in mind, he gave an annoyed sigh. "Keegan Summers," he said, his tone somewhat irritated, yet he managed a bit of a smirk. "I'm from Lavaridge, and my first Pokemon was a Vulpix, now a fully-grown Ninetales. I'm on a badge quest too, and Mike and I were best friends growing up." Then, he leaned back in his seat, still wearing a wolfish grin as he waited for a reaction from the girls.
=====
It seemed that whatever the ghost Pokemon had been up to was finished now, as both returned to their trainers as they left the park completely. Miharu and Lily turned towards the purple-shirted girl, and she smiled and nodded as she recognized her. "Yes, I'm Miharu," she said, smiling politely. "It's nice to meet you in person, Sam," she added, looking over at the other girl, apparently named Kya. "I don't think those Pokemon will be a problem any longer," she said, looking down at Lily as the Ivysaur's grip on her arm loosened a bit. The Seed Pokemon was watching the two new girls carefully, though after a moment or so she decided they were friendly. She retracted her vines and started circling around them, sniffing intently. Miharu smiled apologetically at Sam and Kya, not sure what to do now that the ghosts were gone. "So, where were you two headed?" she asked, not really in any hurry to go anywhere. Sparkle was resting comfortably in her PokeBall and Lily seemed to be in good health. "I heard you say something Pokemon, are you trainers too?"

River and Jett shared a comfortable silence for the majority of Route 104. Finally, an end was in sight.

River let out a small whimper at the sight of the first tall trees of Petalburg Woods. Jett paused, patting her on the head.

"It'll be okay," Jett said in a quiet tone. He got on his knees and faced his partner. "We have to be strong from now on, River. We have each other, and that's all we need." As of now, River and his parents were probably the only people Jett would show this much emotion to.

The Ralts in question nodded once, and the two shared a brief hug. Jett stood and turned towards the forest's edge. Confidence surged through him, and River fed off it and grew confident herself. The two donned a twin set of stolid expressions.

They were ready.

Eventually, the Hoothoot stopped rolling across the ground and came to rest. It was over. The enemy had been defeated in a single blow. With a smirk, Cindy trotted over to the unconscious owl who’d just been utterly destroyed by her awesome tackle attack.

”Uhhhh. Cindy?”

She proceeded to point at the ‘fallen’ Hoothoot. ”Quil, quil quil quil! Cyndaquil!” Cindy almost fell over snickering to herself, bringing her paws in front of her face. At that moment, Scarlet decided two things. One, Cindy would never be watching Friday again. Two, he wasn’t gonna warn her that her little friend wasn’t gonna go down with a couple of leers and a single tackle.

Instead, he drove his palm into his face and muttered to himself. “Suit yourself…”

At that moment, Cindy felt Hoothoot’s head smash into her chest. She stumbled backward, growling, before shaking her fist at the now-standing flying type. ”QUIL. CYNDAQUIL QUIL QUIL!”

Hoothoot looked outraged. He leaned forward on his favorite leg, frantically flapping his wings and well, hooting.

Scarlet shook his head and sighed. “Oh boy. This battle should totally be over already. And now they’re all…”

Blaine listened politely as the children introduced themselves. Sasha seemed like a very active girl for someone so young. Juggling all those hobbies and professions at once was fairly impressive. The shy one, Mitsu, seemed very confused and distracted, but was nice enough. The Gym Leader smirked when Kasiya mentioned that she was only two badges away from getting all the Kanto badges. "That would make me your next opponent, then?" he said. "I look forward to our battle." To be honest, she looked like a very sweet girl, but he couldn't help but wonder how someone like her was so far into her challenge. Surely the daughter of Lt. Surge would be a bit more...abrasive? The world works in mysterious ways, it would seem.

Blaine couldn't help but smile at Keegan's introduction. Sure, he could use some manners, but he couldn't hate someone who had a Ninetales. "With Lavaridge being so small, it's no wonder the two of you knew each other."

"Wait." Sasha said, her brow furrowed. "Best friends? Meilleurs amis? I just assumed that you knew each oz'her. You never told me you were best friends!" The girl huffed in frustration. "You know, sometimes your introverted mannerisms are cute, but it would have been nice to know z'his sooner when I spent days looking for him." Sasha pouted and frowned. "Maybe z'hen I wouldn't have had to have that creep Mazarin feel me up like z'hat." She shuddered, her expression growing more angered as she thought about him.

Claire looked up as two men began lugging a large thing out of the building. Following shortly behind them, was another man in an orange suit. The air was very tense, almost as if it had become solid the instant he came out. There was no other explanation, this man must be the boss, Giovanni.

"You three!" Macabre shouted, "Get our gear off that copter. We're traveling via a different means to Mohogany." He had apparently come out after Giovanni, but was totally unnoticed by the crew. The other two Grunts stopped saluting and quickly scrambled to grab their memory device and other various files, drives, and data off of the plane. Luckily, another truck had pulled up and was ready for them to load the stuff onto. Claire quickly joined the group and after a minute or two everything was ready to go.

Meanwhile, the chopper with Giovanni took to the skies. "Oh... I never got the chance to give him that Pokemon." Claire muttered to herself as she felt the compressed ball in her pocket. Well, might as well take care of it for now. The crew jumped on board the truck and were soon chugging along, apparently to another warehouse to drop off the machinery and then to secretly move off to the other base. Claire looked out the window, and her head once again began to have a dull ache.

"Weeeell, Kilik!" chortled a high pitched voice, "Imagine seeing you here!" It was none other than Rebecca. "I thought I saw you on the boat!"

Kilik groaned and turned away from the door. "Go away," he said simply.

"Hate me all you want, you can't get away from me!" she shoved a badge in his face, a badge that Kilik didn't recognize. "This is the Coal Badge! I just beat Roark and now I'm on my way to Eterna to battle for my second badge! How many Sinnoh badges do YOU have Kilik?"

"I don't have any," he said sternly, looking at her, "because I figured I'd get some training in before going to get my badges here. Besides, it's not hard to get a badge when you've got high level Pokemon like yours." He frowned. Why was it that everywhere he went, Rebecca was? She seemed to be everywhere!

"Puuuh-lease," she waved her hand at him then ran her fingers through her long, dark hair befor fiddling it into a ponytail. "I caught a bunch of new Pokemon while I was here. I even traded some away for Pokemon I'd never seen before. Check this kitty out!" She tossed a ball into the air and out popped a purple feline with a long, curly tail. At the end was a white puff ball. "It's called Glameow, but I call her Prissy."

"Pft," he laughed, looking at it. "Mrs. Piddles is more like it!" He pointed down to the cat, who was releiving herself on the Pokemon Center floor. "She must've been cooped up for so long that you hadn't let her in the litter box. Or outside, where, coincidentally, you belong."

"WHAAA!" she screamed, pulling out a ton of baby wipes from her bag and throwing them on the floor. "Nothing happened! Shut up Kilik!" Rebecca picked up her cat and pet her. "Say, why don't you and I battle? For old times sake and a spec of sport?"

"I just put my Pokemon away to be healed..." he groaned, "But I still have Cable, so I gueeess I could wipe the floor with all of your Pokemon." He looked over the counter at Nurse Joy. She nodded. Though his Pokemon were still being healed up, most specifically his Chimchar, he was free to go outside and begin his battle with Rebecca. "You can use all six of your new Pokemon if you want to. I can beat you with just Cable." He shrugged. Something about battling her always made him extremely cocky - probably because he'd yet to lose to her and he hadn't planned on it any time soon.

"Fine! Then Prissy, you're up first!" The Glameow ran out in front of her trainer, pawing at the grass. She hissed at Kilik as he tossed the ball into the air. When Cable appeared, she took a step back, still hissing.Cable stretched a bit and looked around, tossing his Electrilizer up and down in his hand. When he realized a battle was happening, he tossed it over to Kilik and got into position.

"Go! Brick Break!"

"Whoa, whoa whooooa," Mazarin said, shaking his hands. "It ain't like that homes! She came on to me!" he pointed at the girl. Then he shook his head. No, Maz, no. "Junko was in safe hands the whole time, brah. I met her in the Park and we just went to go get smoothies." As the two twins were talking to each other, Mazarin felt a sudden pain in his chest. He couldn't breathe. He clutched his heart and winced, shaking his hand at the other two in case they were going to ask if he was okay. He was totally fine.

Yet he couldn't help but feel that someone...someone out there was talking about him. Someone that caused him a lot of pain. The feeling coursing through his body was like a taser. It must be Sasha! She's yearning for me! Orrr...she's just talking about me. I dunno. Stupid girl. He cleared his throat. "Excuse me," he said simply.

Riza didn't know what else to do other than to keep holding Crenu in her arms, though it wasn't long before he began to calm down. When he pulled back she could see that there was indeed something wrong. Something was bothering him, eating at him, and for a fleeting moment she thought he would finally tell her, finally let her in, but then he let go of her and turned his back on her, and though he couldn't see it, she rolled her eyes and shook her head at his flimsy explanation. He'd started walking again, but she remained in place, her hands balled into tight fists at her sides. "You're lying," she said finally, her voice firm, and she noticed that her hands and shoulders were shaking slightly. "And I'm not moving from this spot until you tell me what's really going on with you." There were other things she wanted to say but she held them back for now.

Miles flicked his twin tails in annoyance, but smirked over at Genki anyway. Sure, the Monferno was stronger now, but just wait! Someday he would be just as strong as Genki! With a grunt, the Buizel raced forward, light streaming from behind him as he neared the monkey.

Katie smiled as she watched her two Pokemon. Sure, Miles was fast and intelligent, but Genki was far more experienced, and had been with her for over two years now. She knew him better than any of her other Pokemon, so she wasn't at all surprised to see Genki just standing there. He crouched low, looking as though he were going to jump up and over again, but this time he feinted to the left, grinning broadly as he watched the Buizel pivot, already preparing to launch his Sonic Boom, just like last time.

It wasn't happening this time, however as the Sonic Boom hit nothing but air since Genki had reacted differently this time, and before Miles could register what had just happened the Monferno had sped forward and landed a solid Mach Punch to the Buizel's stomach. The weasel fell to the ground, breathing heavily, though when he got back up to his feet Katie raised her hand. "Okay guys, that's enough," she said, and the two Pokemon glanced at each other one more time before making their way over to their trainer. Katie knelt down as the Pokemon neared her, and Genki didn't hesitate to hug her waist. The Buizel hung back a bit before inching forward, and Katie petted his head. "You guys were both great, take a rest now, okay?" They nodded and plopped down on the ground as Katie nodded towards Kord and Seraphim. "You two are up next!"

"Ah, yes, Sinnoh est tout à fait merveilleux," Fantina answered as she and Ryka continued on their way. She'd studied the route she would have to take from Vermilion to Cerulean once she'd landed, and she was certain it wouldn't take very long. Once they got to Saffron it was as simple as hailing a taxi across town. "Mais oui," she went on, "my life iz very, very busy. Toujours occupé. However, I do adore it so! I love being ze gym leader, and I love being a coordonnateur! My life iz elegant and wonderful!" she giggled and twirled once more before checking the time on her phone. "Ooh, we must pick up our pacing, I do not want to be late!" She clapped her hands and started walking faster, and she motioned for Ryka to do the same.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thumpthumpthump. Mitsu winced slightly as her head continued to pound. Water, she needed water. The purple haired girl fished around in her bag before withdrawing a bottle of water and downing half of it quickly. Her headache seemed to subside just an inch, but it was enough to let the trainer relax. The last thing she wanted was a to have some sort of attack in Blaine's helicopter. It wouldn't leave a very good impression, especially if she was to battle him one day. Though she hardly thought about coming to Kanto to take the badge challenge there.

"Ehhh, best friends?" Mitsu asked, somewhat quietly. She wouldn't have thought that they were best friends, even if they did grow up in the same city. Was Keegan more friendly when he was little? Or maybe Mike's personality was just too infectious, even when he was a little kid. Whatever it was, Mitsu found it a little hard to believe, but she found no reason to disregard his statement either. "You guys were best friends?" she asked again, still disbelieving it a bit.

Crenu stopped on the spot once he heard her tone of voice. This was unusual. Riza hadn't been like this before, she wasn't easily brushed aside but when it came to something like this she would let it go. Damn it, Riza was to stubborn for her own good sometimes. He did not turn around though, just listened to her words. He could tell she was upset, he could feel it almost. "That is highly unreasonable. You'll have to move eventually." He said calmly, waiting for a moment to see if she did anything. "I told you already, it's nothing to worry about. What troubles me troubles me and me alone. It's not your burden to carry." She didn't need to know about his demons, he didn't need for her to be swallowed up by his darkness. It would just one more person infected with his weakness, another tally for his body count. It was best for her to be left out of his affairs as much as possible, it was the best way to keep her from inheriting his curse. "We might miss the next contest if we don't hurry." Crenu finally decided to turn back around and walked towards her, offering Riza his now fully bandaged right hand. Kind couple like gestures had kept her content up until now, hopefully it would work now. "Come on, let's go. I'm fine now." He said firmly, looking at her with the blankest face he could muster. If he could hide everything and give her nothing, she might just believe him. "Let it go. Please."

Cable slammed his fist into the feline, watching her slide across the grass as easily as sliding across ice, smirking to himself. So much for that! Kilik pumped his fist and laughed. "You should know not to challenge me, Rebecca!"

"Why are you always so mean to girls!?" she whined, recalling her Glameow. The one-hit wonder certainly knocked her for a loop. She didn't quite expect that Electabuzz to be so strong. After all, the last time she saw it, it was still a wimpy little Elekid. Tapping her foot, she tossed out her next Pokemon. It was small, and looked somewhat like a bell. "Say hello to Ding-Dong!" She giggled.

Why are all of her nicknames absolutely awful? he thought, pulling out his PokeDex to scan the strange creature.

"Chingling, the Bell Pokemon. The pre-evolved form of Chimecho, it makes high frequency cries that people cannot hear. When it starts, it will cry for a very long time. It moves around by hopping, making the orb inside of it's mouth bounce and cause a soothing ringing to anyone who hears it."

Kilik put the Dex away and pondered. "Chimecho is a Psychic-type, despite being found on Mt. Pyre. I could risk it being a Psychic-type as well, and just slap it with Brick Break." He tapped his forehead, "Nooo, that'd be dumb. It wouldn't be very effective. Man, I hate Psychic-types!" he stomped his foot, "Okay, Cable just beat the nonsense out of it with a Thunderpunch!" Kilik didn't really need to address anything further. The Electabuzz was fairly certain that Thunderpunch would up and annihalate anything that Rebecca would throw their way. Cracking his knuckles, which caused small booms of thunder in both trainers ears, and ran at the bell, slamming his fist into the dirt.

"Great dodge, Ding-Dong!" Rebecca giggled. Chingling floated down gently, a soft ringing echoing around them. "Now hit him with your Confusion!" Opening his mouth, a wave of purple circles came after Cable. Rebecca was grinning the whole time.

Cable didn't have very much time to even attempt a dodge and took the Confusion full force. It didn't hurt too bad, but suddenly, everything around him started to spin. Small birds were flying in front of his face. He shook his head, but couldn't shake off the confused feeling that was coming over him. "Cable!" Kilik barked, "Try your Thunderpunch again!"

What did he say? Cable thought, 'Punch yourself in the face'? The Electabuzz hit himself in his confusion, holding his head while groaning. If he couldn't shake this feeling off soon, he wasn't going to win and Kilik was going to be pretty upset. He had to hold on!

Completely ignoring the silver haired boy and his babbling, Jomei walked over to where his sister was standing. "I was doing something important. OK?" he replied to her, snatching his Fire Pokemon back from her. When the boy that had been with her began to clutch his chest in pain he raised an eyebrow at his twin. "Um, is he alright?" he leaned in and whispered to her. Jomei decided that the kid seemed kind of doofy and probably didn't pose much of a threat. Junko wouldn't go for a guy like that anyway, he told himself. She's probably just hanging around him to get something out of him and to make me mad I'm sure. He sighed. All girls seem to do crap like that.

"I dunno... He's kinda weird." Junko whispered back to her brother while wiping a strand of hair from her eye with her hand. When Mazarin seemed done with his episode she turned to him and asked if he was going to make it.

Immediately following the boat's departure, Blythe entertained the thought of being outside. She quickly moved all of her belongings up to the open deck, where surprisingly few people sat. The girl chose to recline across two chairs and absentmindedly stare at the sky for the time being. "I'm on a boat...I'm on a boat..." she hummed to the sound of the waves.

Quite the opposite, her little Snorunt cowered underneath one of the chairs. She had seen the water around the boat, and it was far too close! What if Mimi fell overboard? What if a wave came up and swallowed Mimi? What if the boat hit an iceberg and got a hole and the boat started to sink and all the life boats were taken and Mimi and Blythe had no way to get off the boat except to swim to civilization which was miles away and would take days to swim to because they were in the middle of the ocean?! Mimi can't even swim! Mimi paced back and forth, back and forth, until realizing that it was hot out. No, far too hot for an iceberg. A wave of relief overcame her, and she sunk down next to Blythe's foot - relieved, but still quite a bit shaken.

Ryka nodded, taking in all that Fantina was saying. "Busy, yes.. I'd imagine. Do you get a lot of challengers? You must learn so much from all of the different people you face.." Elegant and wonderful were right. Ryka wondered how she even kept all of it straight - being both a Gym Leader and coordinator, that's a lot of time involved in both, she'd imagine. As soon as she looked back towards Fantina, thought, the Gym Leader had run off ahead. Ryka sped up her pace to catch up with the Gym Leader. The pair was heading into the outskirts of Saffron City now. "What..time do you have to be there by?"

Riza said nothing as Crenu made his way back to her, and though he did his best to look as though nothing was wrong, Riza definitely knew better. People didn't just break down like that, and not because they were hungry or too warm. She looked down at his bandaged hand, silently wondering what he'd done to himself now, but she chose not to bring it up just yet. Her grey eyes were cold and piercing as she continued to study Crenu's blank expression. "Fine," she said curtly, flipping a lock of ebony hair over her shoulder before she started to walk ahead of him, refusing to take his hand, mostly out of spite. It was her turn to try and hide her pained expression, and she held one hand up over her heart as though it would quell the sudden ache shooting through it. As much as she hated to admit it, Crenu's continued refusal to let her in on his problems had really hurt her. 'I thought we were finally getting somewhere,' she thought, her gaze fixed on the path ahead of her. 'But I guess not...'

Kord gave a little cheer and rushed out onto the field, sparks flaring from his prongs. He pounded his fists together, very eager to start his round of training. The Roselia, on the other hand, didn't seem to be nearly as enthusiastic about it but she obeyed regardless, slowly and quietly making her way out to face the little electric-type. It seemed odd to her, facing off against Kord now, as only a few days ago she'd saved him from a nasty fall when he had still been an unborn egg, and now here he was, full of energy and getting stronger and stronger all the time. The flowery Pokemon gave her roses a shake and smiled over at the little Elekid. Despite her peaceful nature, she would happily help Katie train this little guy to reach his full potential.

Katie couldn't help but giggle as she watched her two Pokemon, their personalities so very different from one another. She decided to start off easy, as she really didn't want the static electricity constantly dancing across the Elekid's body to paralyze Seraphim, at least not this early in their training match. "Seraph, start off with Poison Sting," she said. "Kord, you'd better try to dodge it," she added, more as a warning than anything else. The Roselia raised her roses and pointed them at the Elekid, still wearing her content smile as a barrage of poisoned needles were sent flying at the small black and yellow target.

Kord's prongs perked up a bit as he heard the command, as he suddenly remembered that if those barbs hit him, he could get poisoned! That was the last thing he wanted and he quickly darted off to the right, smirking at the ground he'd just been standing on as it was pelted by dozens of purple barbs. It seemed Seraphim, while quiet and unassuming by nature, fully intended to take her trainer's words to heart, and within moments a second volley was heading the Elekid's way. Kord let out a yelp and jumped back, staring at the ground as it too became littered with dangerous little needles.
