If it works it works. A character can have a personality that is distasteful. it helps to establish that the character, is, in fact, distasteful.
I LOVE THAT SHOW>....but yeah. it is.

I love the beginning of some of the episodes with the mechanical teddy bear and the girl in a world without life.

No. More like something where she kisses a person and gets a card with an ability. The card lasts for so long but as long as she has it, she can use their power as well.
