Though possible in anime, sliceing a bullet in half is not very practical in reality. 3nodding

Hoshioni Arcanas Hoshioni but you guys otta read the book of 5 rings written by historys greatest swordsmanThat is also a debatable point. Who says that one man is the best swordsman of all time, when in his era, the other sword wielding greats have already passed on? well how many people do you know beat metal swords with winning ones, and dident lose in over 60 duels. to me that makes him the best. you otta read his book though like I said Hoshi, winning duels doesn't mean anything. You have to pit this guy against all the other greats to see how he matched up. It's impossible to say that one man is the best at anything. In anything, there's always someone better. And if you honestly believe that one man is the best, then you truly are naive Hoshi.

It's silly when people fight for trivial things such as "honor" or "dignity". There are other ways to determine those. When you fight for survival, anything goes. ...Every battle a test of what you have learned."

I've never really been a fan of guns, but M9's and .45's would be my choice in sidearm.

Arcanas Hoshioni Arcanas But Hoshi, you see, the Katana was made for slashing, where a rapier could be used to slash or thrust, with equal power. a swordsman skilled in use of a rapier, would in most cases kill a samurai while he was in mid swing. well, i take it your not a katana fanatic???? katanas can stab and parry a thrust just fine....in the end its all up to the user and which samuria style were talking about as there are over 200 Hoshi, I appreciate all swords and their uses. Also, my senior year in high school, my senior project was to learn the various types of sword play, and sword forging techniques. So, in my experience, along with the rapier's long blade base, lighter weight, and faster swing speed with minimal effort, Rapier > Katana. not really fair to lumpsum samuria swords its like saying all samuria were gay or somthing. ill still use the katana type but doesnt mean i would not wanna know both. cause to me and what ive read rapiers are mostly one on one duelng swords, and almost usless in war. but katanas are both, dueling and armored war swords. and the fact that samuria choose not to use shields always interested me

and you wonder why Japan was at war...
at least with the English and French, they settled things quick and easy. One death.
And most people stopped using shields after the medieval ages. Unless you're talking about the Scottish, but they had badass shields, with a 3inch spike right in the middle. Combo that with the dirk, and they ******** s**t up. They also used a claymore for a midrange weapon, but when it came to upclose encounters, dirk/targe was the way to go.

(but i like swords mostly for fitness more so then actual use anywhoo. I use a baton *and its legal where im at to have for defence* only cause i cannot afford a gun)

I still prefer the staff. Range plus the ability to non-fataly debilitate your opponent. I'd rather knock someone out than kill them. If given the option that is. I imagine that a samurai would come after you later from a bruised cence of honor if you just knocked them out though. sweatdrop
