For a sixteen-year-old, she was very confident, so much so, she placed the palm of her hand to the uzi and moved it to the side, away from her head. "Fine fine," she said with a sigh "be a spoil-sport. I wouldnt have caused trouble if I`d have got out anyway, I think I`d do more damage confined than out there. Its usually how I am...I dont do well in lockdown, CID department of the police in london found that out when they tried to keep me in a cell."

Edith was bored out of her mind just sitting there and holding onto Tokeru so she decided, out of boredom and since the hall was silent but for two voices, that she'd eavesdrop. Once she'd eavesdropped she decided that she'd might as well join in on the conversation as opposed to just sitting there like she was some dead person. Well, the truth was, she was half dead, well, undead was probably as close as one could actually come to dead without actually being technically dead. However, that was a trivial thought and she didn't really think about it too often. She didn't like reminding herself that she was a vampire since she was reminded enough as it was. She was reminded by the fact that she constantly needed blood and the fact that she couldn't walk around in the afternoon or morning like a normal person unless there was an eclipse. Life or death, whatever it was considered, as a vampire, sucked. The only perks were that she was physically and mentally stronger.
She decided to trot on over to Kiriyama and this new girl whom she'd come to hear was Jaken. Kiriyama wasn't exactly on the tip of the scales for social skills, in fact, there had been many times she'd wanted to murder him and she was sure there would be many more times to come. "Kiriyama-kun," she used the degrading surname to get it to him that he was acting childish, "you shouldn't be going around scaring haven's new recruits. I mean, hell, we've had enough casualties and whatnot, you don't need to make her another one." Yeah, Edith had little or no authority over Kiriyama, he wasn't a Shadowstalker, but in a sense, she could maybe say they were buds? Nah, not really, he didn't respect her and she didn't respect him, but that wouldn't stop her from trying. She wasn't going to be intimidated by him, yeah, she was only six months a vampire, but she wasn't scared of vampires as a human so there was little difference to her now.
"There is too," Edith decided to inform Jaken quite politely, somewhat superficially, but not really, "an arcade where you can hang about. I haven't really been there myself but I know that there's one around, at least, I know we have a whole s**t load of computers. I can take you there if you want, I'm sure you're not interested to see Kiriyama and Skiaska having goes at eachother every twenty minutes. I think I'd purge myself and I've done my good share of naughty things. And as for the boyfriend thing, try having a fiance that falls asleep on you. By the way, this guy in my arms, he is my fiance and his name's Tokeru. He went kind of haywire a while back and that's where the casualties came from. He's volatile because things happened to him so I'm probably going to have to do some work with him but don't worry, I won't let him hurt you."
She smiled, forgetting she had fangs, revealing them, though whether or not Jaken would be afraid was entirely up to her. Edith didn't give off any bad vibes, she was actually a very fun and nice person, however, the past six months had been really rough for her. She'd been proposed to and she'd ended up turning it down since she'd loved Tokeru. The man, Reno, that'd proposed to her had then gone off cursing her name and went into a trigger happy faze, which had forced her brother to kill him in front of her very eyes. Yeah, it still tormented and haunted her to this day, but she had never told her brother that she had seen him kill Reno so brutally and mercilessly. Tokeru, not too long afterwards, then went missing for six months and he'd returned not too long ago and had gone berserk on the people within haven. Now she was here talking to this new girl, attempting to be as friendly as she could muster.

Smiling at the seemingly friendly lady who had offered to show her around, she replied, her tone sincere and serene, even though fangs were being shown and had just had a gun right at her head "Well, if it prevents my boredom sky-rocketing, and my head getting blown to bits, I`m up for it," holding out a dainty, feminine hand, she introduced herself "my name is Jaken Valentine." Her deep blue eyes watched anxiously, occasionally flickering to Kiriyama, awaiting to see if the lady was as friendly as she seemed. With her travels across England and then to New York, she learnt never to take anyone for 'face value' as she would call it.
Normally, back in England where hunting organisations were few and far between, she would have slaughtered any vampire in sight, bloodily and brutally, but here, any vampire which allied themselves to the same or similar cause was alright by her. Infact, she would go as far to call a few her friends. She had one vampiric friend in Manchester, her birthplace in England, and he used to tell her when and where vampiric raids would happen, as he secretly detested what they were up to.
The vampiric covens, Jaken had heard, were alot different in England than New York, as in England, they were more out in the open, and people who seemed always nearly in the public eye, went unnoticed as vampires. The country was so corrupt with vampirism, that even some of the country`s leading politicians were vampires.

"Heh," Edith commented, somewhat chuckling at Kiriyama's antics, "if he blasts your brains out, I can assure you that I'll kick his a**, ******** daywalker or not. Don't worry, you're not special at all, he likes to treat all guests like that and get them to hate him so that they are at the point where they want to murder him. Hell, if Skiaska wasn't his wife, he'd probably be dead by now, by Krii's hands. Oh, and don't worry if you don't know the whole names thing, I know that for all you know, I'm some crackpot looney talking about my imaginary friends, but I'm not. You'll meet people soon enough, I can guarantee you that." It was all too true, her words. All too soon Jaken would be meeting the people that resided within haven, the good and the bad, the annoying and the friendly. However annoying or bad someone seemed, the people under haven's roof were one big family that protected eachother with their lives. That was the one thing she loved about this place, people were strangers, but in a sense, you could feel a connection to everyone here that was almost tangible.
Edith didn't mind shaking hands, for some beings, it was a way of detecting what the other being happened to be. Some just liked to keep the whole illusion that they were human and some just stuck with their human customs. She didn't mind either way. Edith held out her hand, it was not at all feminine or dainty, it was actually quite the opposite, it was roughed up, calloused and it was rather large for a woman's hand. The only section of her hand that defined her in a feminine manner was the fact that she had some bright orange nail polish on elongated fingernails. "My name's Meredith Jackson, everyone here calls me Eden mostly, some Edith and I've had my crazy human friend call me EEdie so ... Whatever you wanna call me, I really don't give a rat's a**." Edith had no accent, maybe a bit of your typical American drawl, but it hardly counted as an accent.
Shadowstalkers tended to be the exact same as the England hunting organizations, most of them attacked vampires that weren't among their ranks upon site, provided they weren't haven vampires either. Shadowstalkers were known for their ruthlessness, yet Edith wasn't really brutallic unless she was extremely pissed or she was sent over the edge into her berseker mode. The worst case scenario that there happened to be was her vampiric side setting itself loose and killing everything and everyone in it's path to obtain fresh sustainance. "So," Edith decided to make conversation with the newcomer as opposed to letting silence fill the halls once again, "you don't sound like you're from around here. You from England? Or perhaps Germany? I can't tell you sound like you have a mixed accent and I'm no ******** good at guessing accents. I can't really tell ******** Scottish accents from Irish ones then they get all offended when I ask them if they're a nationality and it ends up being the wrong one."

Jaken couldn’t help but giggle, it was soft and sounded like she was trying to hold it back. With a slight nod, she said “Yeah, you’re right. North West of England was where I was born, Manchester to be precise, you may have heard of it if you’re into soccer. Anyway, the slight German accent is because my parents were German, I learnt it at the same time I was learning English. Don’t worry about offending me, I’m not one to lose my temper over things people say, if I don’t like something I’ll calmly tell you, but I’m no hot head. Anyway, I understand about the whole Irish, Scottish thing. I have family in Ireland so I know what you’re talking about. They speak so fast it’s like they can say everything I’ve just said in one second, and the original language, Gaelic, is so difficult to learn. My great aunt tried to teach me but I could never pick it up.”
The young girl was smiling brightly, she already felt like she was fitting in sort of. And she started to sense what Edith was talking about, there was a great air of security, trust, like that of a family. The sense was overwhelming to her, as her parents were killed and her brother ran away, so she practically grew up with no family. Due to the way her father had brought her up, she had few friends too, but the ones she did have, she kept close, very close, so much so she could trust them to take a slash at her head with a blade and miss. Her opinions of Edith were few, but positive for the moment as she thought that she seemed very welcoming, friendly and slightly humours, her first impressions were very positive that Jaken wished to know more about her.
“Where are you from Edith? If you don’t mind me asking, you sound like you have an accent but I can’t tell where from.” The silver haired girl inquired, listening to Edith’s voice, trying to pick out where she could possibly come from in her mind. In her 10 years practically alone, she had travelled all over England, Ireland, Germany and also Romania where the vampire covens were huge and nearly half the population were vampires, finally reaching the US so she wasn’t quite used to anyone’s accent at the moment. Everyone around seemed to be from all over the place.

Tokeru snored quietly, and started talking. "tansy cakes, sweet tansy cakes. Bas a agad. Watashi no America-jin desu."
Pure gibberish, but for the last part, where he said "I'm american" in japanese, meant as the answer for Edith.

Jaken knew what he meant, so she smiled and said "Arigato." The silver haired girl only knew a little of Japanese, but she used it when she could. "Ogenki desu ka?" she asked. [[Sorry for my poor spelling, I cant really spell in japanese unless I`m doing the calligraphy sweatdrop ]]

(( Sorry for the whole delay!! ))
Edith rarely held anything back, she was a fairly outgoing person that wasn't afraid to let someone know what was on her mind. Meredith Jackson had also never once in her life been associated with subtlety, even as a little girl, she'd always be disruptive and her mother would have to constantly check up on her to make sure that she wasn't killing herself. Her brother also tended to be near quite often as he was quite overprotective of his little sister despite her being tough as nails. Because of her high-maintenance behaviour, her family had always felt somewhat obliged to make sure she wasn't getting herself killed. She had complained bitterly that her freedom was so limited and yet she'd loved the attention because it had given her a chance to bond with her family. She loved her father, her mother and her siblings to bits. Will and her had always been the closest, though, since he'd always been the most protective and the one that'd put up with her the most. She loved her brother and missed such moments with him so profoundly that the ache for them was quite tangible.
"I've heard of it," Edith stated, coming out of her childhood memories, the ones she loved so dearly and cherished, "but I've never been any good at geography so I only have a vague idea of where it is. Nah, I'm no soccer fan, I can't stand being subjected to watch other people in action, I'm either in it, or someone's strapping me down to a chair and making me watch it as torture. The first time my dad ever decided to take me to a ball game was a big mistake, I went berserk and tried to jump over the bleachers and people to get into the stadium. It just didn't work out and he never took me again." She smiled at another one of her fond memories despite her father being somewhat peeved with her. After it'd been all over, he'd laughed at her and had taken her out for icecream, making a joke out of the whole thing by saying he'd always remember to take her out for icecream instead of to a ball game. He'd always been a big fan of it, but Edith, she'd never been able to stand watching and not partaking.
"Phew," Edith said, not really with relief, since had this girl not been able to handle her guessing wrong, they probably would have been quick enemies of sorts, "I'm glad you're not one of those snobs that get all offended if their culture is guessed incorrectly. I hate those sorts of people, they never seem to be able to take a joke about anything, either. Have you ever noticed that? I'm a hot head, but I don't blow up at stupid things like that. I love arguments and whatnot, but I don't create them on purpose. Well, at least I don't create them on purpose." Yeah, Edith tended to babble a lot since she liked getting her opinion out for others to hear in order for them to knew where she stood. When people knew where others stood, it made it easier to talk to them since they didn't have to fear constantly offending her for whatever reason. Yeah, there were things that offended her, but she'd kindly tell someone before getting angry.
Yeah, Edith loved this place for the very reason that it made her feel more at home than anywhere had in a long time. Her old home she'd had as a child was absolutley wonderful, but she couldn't go back to it now and she was glad that she had this place to come to if she needed it. Edith believed strongly in first impressions and so long as people weren't complete assholes, she'd usually tolerate them. Hell, she even tolerated complete assholes since Kiriyama had been a complete a*****e to her but she'd forgiven him and had started over. Yeah, she strongly believed in first impressions, but she believed just as strongly in second chances. It'd been the reason why she'd been hurt a lot in her lifetime, though it was pretty hard to tell at times. Edith had always preferred to suffer alone and not burden someone else with her issues that she had. Rarely did she cry in front of people, though lately her emotions seemed to be running a little amok so she was somewhat wary if she started feeling sad around people.
"Me?" she asked rhetorically, immediately prepping her response to such a thing. "Heh, it probably only sounds like an accent to you becuase you just got here from Manchester, was it? As for little wee me, I lived in a smaller town or city once upon a time. However, I don't really think too much about it now since I chose to leave in order to find my brother that'd gone missing. It turns out that he happens to be the head hancho of all you hunters and that he'd never really died. I knew he hadn't and stubborness runs in the family so I scouted him out. However, the rest of our family leads normal lives in the small town so I really don't keep contact with them anymore, nor do I really think too much about where I used to live. But yeah, I love my mom, my dad and my siblings to bits and it kills me that I just disappeared on them, but I know it's better this way, for them and for me."
"And what the ******** did he say to you? Then again, what the ******** did you say back? I don't speak Chinese or Vietnamese or whatever kinda language it is that you're speaking. I know English and pig Latin, that about sums up my knowledge of other languages." Of course, she really didn't count pig Latin as another language, but she decided to include it anyway to make herself feel better and to give herself something to smile at. "So," she decided to ask the girl that she was quickly finding herself to like, "what brought you all the way here from Manchester anyway? I mean, it kind of seems like a long way to come, it's over ocean or seas or whatever, after all." Yeah, she was curious, but she was also looking to learn more about her and be polite by showing an interest in her. It was also a good way to make conversation so she didn't think it'd be a problem for the girl to answer. Then again, her reasons may be private and Edith would respect her for that should they be.

Jackson, where have I heard that before? Jackson, something with a place, a garden, garden of Eden? Eden? Why is that so familiar? Eden, Edith. EDITH.
With a start he woke up, and began to growl in the back of his throat. "Dove is missing, Dove has been hidden from me. Everyone, hiding, will die."
He stood up, barely registering his love holding him, and breaking her grip. Seeing a human his mind registered as a vampiress in front of him, his anger grew tenfold. His love was a vampire, and she would have been normal if it weren't for them. "Death to the undead, Living will be free."
Grabbing his scythe, which had somehow returned out of nowhere to his hand, he rushed towards Jaken with his usual blinding speed, time enough to raise a weapon in block, or dodge out of the way, but not enough time to draw a weapon, no matter how fast their reflexes are, no matter how prepared they were, no one could help but feel fear when staring into the blood red eyes of the man known as Tokeru. The man once leader of the Shadow Stalkers, the man once feared by vampires and demons, the man once known as Angel.
As Tokeru approached, anger could be seen on his face and in his muscles, but not in his eyes. Nothing could be seen in those infernal globes, nothing at all, not anger, not fear, not sadness, no emotion whatsoever, a prospect more frightening than any vampire or demon or lycan, more frightening than Armageddon, for with any of those options, life is a possibility, but anyone who looks in those eyes, sees that there is no chance at life, there is only death, and that certainty is more chilling than anything in the world.
His scythe slashed sideways, ready to cut Jaken in half, but some part of him held back, some part ready to stop, if only a signal was given. But what signal?

Tokeru waking up with a start somewhat startled Edith herself as she'd kind of forgotten about cuddling him in her arms as if he were a child. Upon hearing the growl come from him, she was prepared for another one of his random attacks, God, poor Jaken had just arrived and Tokeru was going to attack her. She didn't know why, but she could just sense that he was going to, a sense of foreboding allowed her to predict this little event in her own mind. However, he only seemed aggrivated because he'd woken up without seeing her, which must have lead him to assume that she wasn't there and that someone was keeping her from him. It saddened her that her Angel was so broken, he was alive, but barely clinging to it. He was weak and yet he was fighting a battle, a battle that was far too equal, a battle that could last forever. She had forever now, she'd been granted it and she'd wait forever for her Angel to come back to her, to wake up unbroken. "I'm here my Angel, your dove is here."
When Tokeru broke her grip and turned to look at her, she was hopeful that maybe he'd possibly calm at the sight of her. Instead, he seemed to grow angry upon seeing her and yet, when she'd heard his words, she knew that he was not going to attack her. She could feel her love's anger, it was anger felt for her, anger on her behalf. However, that did not justify him attacking Jaken, a kid she'd actually been coming to like. ********, now she was probably going to be labelled a psycho and Jaken would never want to talk to her again. Oh well, she'd tried and there was no way she was going to abandon Tokeru and give up hope on him. "Anger breeds and accomplishes nothing but destruction if we act upon it, Tokeru. Don't be the Beast, you aren't the Beast, you're the Angel but you must let go of your anger before you can exact your Angel form, my love." Yes, she felt like she was speaking ******** riddles now and it'd be nonsense to Jaken, but hopefully it would soothe Tokeru.
Upon seeing Tokeru grab his scythe out of the void of nothingness, hell, it'd just appeared, no void at all, she'd instantly gone into reaction mode. She chased after Tokeru with as much speed as he'd mustered, she wasn't allowing another hunter to be killed, it'd kill Tokeru once he'd realized he was having a fit of anger once again. She'd heard him before, speaking in his riddles which she'd decoded, he had called himself a beast and monster, neither of which he was. However, he did need to control his anger and his impulses lest he kill more innocent that happened to be merely assisting him. No matter what other people thought of Tokeru, no matter what he thought of himself, he would always be her Angel, even if she never got to hear him joke again or hear him laugh again. She missed the Tokeru that wasn't constantly on edge, the one that could make jokes with her, the one that'd been an arrogant a*****e that everyone hated but her. She'd give anything to help Tokeru but she didn't know how she was supposed to help him, she didn't know what was wrong with him.
Edith had seen her lover's eyes that were filled with nothing but emptiness and the coldness of death. They were sterile of everything but coldness and the hopelessness people felt before they died. However, she would never give into those eyes for they weren't the eyes of her Tokeru, they were the eyes of the beast he had to keep leashed. She was positive that she'd met this beast before, back a while ago when Tokeru had been with her. He'd spoken to her in a voice not his and his eyes had been the same as they were now. Tokeru hadn't remembered it but he had been concerned about it and now that she recollected such a time, she wondered if this was the same thing that'd spoken to her. Perhaps it was slowly taking her Angel over, corrupting him. She just hoped that he could fight it and win so that she had some of her Angel left. She'd fight with him, somehow, she'd fight with him and help him to win his battle that was positive he was going through once the memory came to her.
"Fight it, Angel," she pleaded to Tokeru, grabbing him around the waist and pulling him backwards toward her to prevent the scythe from nearing Jaken, "you need to fight him. It's Nergal, isn't it? Tokeru, fight him, I'm here with you, I'm not leaving you. Don't hurt Jaken, she's nice and she just got here. She's a hunter, the vampires you see here are good vampires, along with the lycans you see, love."

Jaken was grateful of Edith’s presence as she was sure if she hadn’t been there, she would have had to have used force to defend herself, which she really wished she wouldn’t have to do on her first day in New York. Her eyes were wide, yet a strange softness remained about the deep blue hazes of them. “Is this normal for him?” she asked slightly timidly, watching for signs of further hostility, her seemingly fragile body tensed, prepared for a fast defence.
Back in her, anything but cosy, hometown of Manchester, not many hunters made it past 20 as the vampires there were incredibly fast, meaning Jaken had to keep on her toes at all times. In a melee fight, she could, and has done in the past, easily beat a vampire, although she tended to find the lycans more troublesome if she rubbed their fur the wrong way. In a sword fight on the other hand, or anything with a blade, she was as deadly as cyanide, with a tendency to strike deadly blows with each attack. Her marksmanship made her lethal with a crossbow, bow and arrow and also various types of guns, but to sum it up, she was powerful for a mortal.
With a flick of her long, silvery hair, she simply smiled at her would-be attacker, even though she was still a little fearful. “I mean no harm to you. I pose no threat to you or anyone other than those I seek and place in Death’s caring arms.” Her voice was cool, composed, and show no traces of her real fear which was concealed behind the mask of a smile.

Tokeru stopped in midswing, and did not move, just continued to look at Jaken. His red eyes burning holes into her mind. He stared at her, seeing her fear hidden behind her smile. "Courage from smiles do not save lives, fear keeps you strong, danger is hard."
He dropped his scythe, and turned around. His eyes softened at this sight of his dove, and he hugged her. "Dove is safe, gladness is warming."
He let go and looked her in the eyes, his red eyes no longer empty, but full of warmth and happiness, and kissed her.

"Well," Edith said in response to Jaken's question, "it certainly didn't used to be normal for him. However, lately, as in the past day or so, he's been randomly lunging at people and trying to kill them. The blood bath Kiriyama was talking about ... Tokeru was the cause. Something's happened to him so his mind isn't working clearly, he's fighting against something and it's causing him to act differently. I just hope he can eventually fight it and come back. God, you probably would have hated him because he was a jack a**, but I'd give anything to have him make some snippy comment again."
"Courage," Edith decided to state to Tokeru firmly though he did have a point, "comes in many forms. Courage can save lives, even in the form of a smile, don't underestimate it, Angel." Courage was what had gotten her through her entire life, along with laughter. The laughter had only worked because she'd been brave enough to laugh at herself and the situation and make a joke out of it. People these days seemed to lack courage and she wouldn't stand having Tokeru ridicule Jaken for having the courage to smile despite what could have befallen her. She was a good person from what Edith had seen and something told her that she was going to be a protective b***h of her. Maybe it was due to her having lost her child once upon a time, but yeah, that was something she really didn't care to dwell upon. She had her niece that she could look after and spend time with, she would be alright. Her niece was healthy from what she knew and she was definitely going to be strong as her mother and father were both nearly invincible as far as she was concerned.
Relief swept through her when Tokeru released his scythe and allowed it to clatter to the ground, so long as it was there, it wasn't harming anyone. So long as it wasn't harming anyone then she could be at slight ease knowing that he wasn't using it to decapitate or maul anyone. When he randomly embraced her, she was a little taken aback at his sudden chance of heart, but she also found that it warmed her own, or what she had for a heart. "Angel has returned to his Dove, the Dove is relieved." She was glad that he was able to see her this time and that he wasn't just peering past her somehow when she was actually right in front of him. It'd really upset her when he'd not known who she was and that he'd just seen her as some sort of obstacle or whatever she'd been to him. It'd been painful to see him in such pain and to see him so frightened for her. However, it'd warmed her that he was searching for her despite her being right in front of him and being so blinded with his need to find her that he'd not been able to find her when she'd been in front of him. She hoped to never relive that moment, ever.
Upon seeing the warmth and happiness in his eyes, she felt and saw a part of her old Tokeru that she absolutely craved right now. She loved him, she'd known it for a long while now, she'd known it almost instantly, despite her impulsiveness. She missed her old Tokeru very much so but she'd never abandon him now despite how different he was, they'd been through too much for her to do that to him. She kissed him back, clearly unabashed that Jaken was watching, making it seem as she had no regard for her, but she did. She loved Tokeru and she needed this moment with him right now, Jaken could leave if she wished, she didn't have to stay.

Tokeru didn't want to move, he was happy for the first time in who knows how long. But he knew the moment couldn't last forever.
Reluctantly, he broke the kiss. "Need talk to higher up. Damage was given, and excuse made must be."
He kissed her lightly on the lips again, and toke her hand in his. He bent to pick up his scythe, and then walked off to Will's office.
