*sigh* Flutes get such crappy lyres...or "Flutist's Friend"s.
Most people put it around the upper pard of their lower arm, not the wrist, though.

Eawoivu I play in what I consider to be a decent sized flute section. I believe this year we'll have 12 or 13 flutes. My band two years ago was about 8 flutes, after getting tinier.. Ehh, my first year we had 10-12. This year there were only 6 of us... sweatdrop We're decreasing. cry

Okay, all...I'm calling on you for help, and I'd really appreciate it if I got some feedback. Just promise not to laugh, okay? =/
Alright. School starts again for me on Thursday, and I'm happy to be in band again for the first time since seventh grade, which is almost two years (I left in September of my seventh grade year). Sadly, I hadn't practiced very much in that time, and whatever talent and skill I once had seems to have decroded from a shining becon into next-to-nothing. I have trouble with a high B--the fifth note I learned--and can hardly reach a high D or E (though, unusually, I'm fine with C). This is certainly a problem, and my notes are way too airy, and lacking of much tone.
Help!
I used to be so good! There's no doubt that that talent went to waste, the moment I quit, the biggest mistake of my life. What I'm asking for help is, I'm spazzing out about the notes I can no longer play, which are definitely going to be in a lot of pieces for the high school band. Is there any way that I can make myself be able to reach them, soon, with quality (i.e., breathing exercises)? I lose my breath very easily (I think I have asthma), which could account for part of the problem. I've been practicing a lot over the summer, but simply don't seem to be able to play very well, anymore. Any suggestions? I'm just about begging you, here...I don't want to go from best of my year to the girl who can't play so quickly. =/

Guess what? The only two piccolos my band had graduated, so, since I'm in grade twelve, I got piccolo! Oh my God, I'm actually going to enjoy band this year! I love piccolo possibly more than I love my precious Gemeinhardt flute... nah... but almost! xp

If you don't know what a preview is, it's where all the bands in the county show off their shows for the year. I think we are pretty good. Our show is 'Earth, Wind & Fire' and we play 'In The Stone', 'After The Love Is Gone', and 'Getaway/September'. All right, I already feel a little better. Well, empty room, wish me luck!
