As Ayame left the room, Luo turned to Matsuya once he began to speak. At the mention of her showing promise the man nodded once slightly muttering, "Very rarely does a medical shinobi fail in Kirigakure. We are in such a demand for them, the training and exam process to actually become certified in that field are both so strict it ends up weeding out most of those who'd fail before they even tried. She's a bright one however, that much I can tell. She may be a bit aloof, but it isn't something I'd worry myself about."

At his mention of themselves, the ends of Luo's mouth curled upwards slightly. They were all stubborn in different ways, Luo and Zane particularly the more stubborn of the bunch as far as their graduating class was concerned. The hard headed nature of them both was in polar opposite ways however, and seemed to be the cause of much if not all of their verbal and physical bouts. Luo was never one to fail at something, it was just simply a feat he could not allow himself. Whatever task was given to him, even by himself, he completely with efficiency and thoroughly. This did not mean however, that it was always easy. The man spent a lot of time ensuring failure was out of reach completely. At times when some missions seemed to be best left unfinished or even abandoned, Luo went through great lengths to see them through. It could be said that most mission reports shared by the rest of his squad often times detailed a plan of execution that risked the lives of the squad as a whole without seemingly forethought. However, one had to realize just who it was who created the plan, as well as the trust he had in his teammates as well as they did in him.

Matsuya smiled and took a bite of his apple. Immediately, his sense of taste was taken over by the sweet rush of flavor from the apple. He swallowed and sighed contently. He then spoke in reply to Luo, "True enough, true enough. The medical shinobi are an integral part of our Kirigakure. When you combine the power of so many swordsman and other powerful ninja it only seems natural that people will be injured." Matsuya took another bite and chewed happily. Once he'd allowed himself to enjoy the apple and swallowed, he spoke again. "Which kind of relates to something I was talking to Tares about before you returned. I was wondering if there was any chance for me to be able to train in The Infinite One Sword Style. But with my current situation, being dead and all, I can't go around studying and training such a visible style without drawing some attention. So that leads to another question. If there is land available, would you allow me to purchase some property to build myself a home? Don't misunderstand, my room in the inn is cozy enough, but I need space to roam and train. It would also allow me to design myself some sort of base for my little business."

Lost in the taste of another bit of apple, Matsuya's mind went back to his old home in the Nara compound. It wasn't just his personal home, he missed the entire compound and the people within it. So many people with so many intellectual ideas. But the whole time, Matsuya had always known that Kirigakure was his true home.

As Matsuya asked about The Infinite One and then followed it up with a request for housing in order to train, Luo's mind was already running through a few things. Granted he knew Matsuya was sooner or later going to need a place to stay, however just as well Matsuya knew very well how many private training rooms the Kiri Training Facility had, including the expansive top floor room which belonged to Luo himself. If Luo was to assume that he would be training Matsuya if he so chose to learn the style, he gathered he'd just use his training facility or even just do it at his home. What he pondered about more however, was the business Matsuya mentioned. He never knew him to be the business type, and when he slipped it into the conversation it seemed almost as if he wanted the comment to go somewhat unnoticed, although it made Luo wonder if Matsuya already took Luo's scrutinizing mind into consideration.

"I'd have to dig up the scrolls but I see no reason why you can't. I do have to ask why you want to learn it though. All the time you spent in Konohagakure, and yet you didn't even bother to make a copy of the style for yourself or learn it. However, now it seems you have an interest in it. I'm not worried, just...curious. Another thing though, what sort of business will you be running out of your home? Depending on the scale I might not be able to allow you to operate out of your home."

Matsuya chewed a bit of apple as he thought how to answer Luo. The way he saw it, Luo had the right to know. Matsuya was basing his operation out of Kirigakure after all. He had no plans of involving the village, but he owed it to Luo to at least tell him. "I have plans to run an information brokering business under the moniker of the Shadow Broker. So, I'll be gathering and selling information to people. We both know how the right information can make or break a situation. But you have my word that I will never give anyone information about Kirigakure. My first responsibility is to my home and her people. If, by chance, I am hired to provide information on Kiri I'll consult you and give my client false information." Matsuya paused and thought again. This was the first that he'd told anyone of his intentions. But Luo was one of the only people he truly trusted in this world, so Matsuya saw no reason he shouldn't know. "And as to why I'd like to learn The Infinite One Sword Style, I gave up the Konoha Taijutsu style when I left the village. In my mind, I shouldn't be using a style exclusive to the village I left behind for my selfish reasons. So that leaves me without a physical fighting style outside of Shadow Kira and her powers. And on top of that, the world thinks I'm dead. So when I make a comeback eventually, I'd like to have some new tricks up my sleeve. Wouldn't want people saying that the Black Hand has lost his touch." Matsuya chuckled a bit as he finished speaking and took another bite of his apple. Truth be told, he rather missed fighting with Kage Kira. She'd been with him since the beginning of his term as Hokage. She'd helped him defeat the Kyuubi. He smirked a bit as the memories of the black blade at his hip swarmed back.

"I see. Well Matsuya, I trust your judgement. I can't deny having an information broker within the village wouldn't be a huge plus. If I ever need to I'll drop by for information myself, and of course I'll pay your normal rates." Walking over to one of the book shelves as his friend explained his reasons for wishing to learn the infinite one style, he ran his index finger over a few books before pulling out the one he needed; the village property listings and deeds. Walking over to his desk, he sat down and opened the book to the front, looking through the index while listening to Matsuya until he finished speaking. "I suppose that is fine with me then. At some point I'd like to talk to you about that very same taijutsu style, but that's a conversation for another day. For now...." motioning for Matsuya to come to the desk, Luo turned the book for Matsuya to look at as he continued to speak.

"If you are going to be doing what you've told me, then there are two ways you can go about this: Hide in plain sight, or use the mist and the mountains as your safeguard. If you plan on the former, I can put you here in the market district. A duplex shop just opened up that used to sell shinobi scrolls. If you wouldn't mind taking over the business and selling scrolls for the village on the first floor, your true business can be conducted in your private quarters on the second floor. If you wish to remain more private, there's a good amount of farmland in the steeper regions of the mountains that surround our village. While you'd be well out of any normal villager's reach, I can't help but think of your safety in an area so remote. I know you are beyond capable of protecting yourself, however there's no telling how many may show up at once to simply take information rather than buy it, or worse your life. If you are in the market district, there are eyes everywhere. Anyone would be hard pressed to get away with anything. That, and I'd be lying if I didn't mention I need a reliable scroll merchant."

Matsuya stood and walked to the desk. He stayed silent as Luo explained the two potential properties. Just like Luo's, Matsuya's mind was running through the tactical advantages and disadvantages of each property. He nodded silently as Luo explained that the village was in need of a scroll salesman and that Matsuya could simply run his information brokering out of the upper floor. He looked up at Luo and smiled wide. "Well, I can't say no to making more money on the side. And the tactical advantage of being within the village is too much too ignore." Matsuya took another bite of the apple and smiled softly as he chewed. He swallowed and then chuckled. "Well, I'll take the shop then. Just two questions: how much do I owe the village for the property and when can I get to work?" Matsuya smiled as he finished his sentence and took another bite of the apple.

Pointing at a line under the information for the property, Luo sighed. "Twelve thousand flat. However, I know you were smart enough to take what you had in Konoha before you left. I've never known you to be one for the bank." The price was reasonable for the central location and size of the home. One had to remember the upstairs for all intent and purpose was a fully furnished one-bedroom home. In fact, the space left a good amount of room to breathe for one person. Luo thought on when Matsuya could get to work for a very minuscule amount of time, remarking quickly to his friend, "Immediately. I'll have to fill you in on what the business entails. We haven't privatized scroll shops in Kiri. This means the job is directly overseen by myself. So, expect to see me from time to time to check up on things."

There was one more thing about the job Luo needed to mention, something that was more than likely unique to Kirigakure. It was something Luo himself implemented seeing as how he was in charge of the department which housed and retained all records of technique scrolls, both for Kirigakure as well as his clan. They were two smaller roles the astute man picked up himself for the sheer thrill of it. Kirigakure's government facilities were somewhat understaffed as Luo had eradicated it of malice and ill intent years prior. He enjoyed reading about jutsu in all forms, marveling at a certain few he could only hope to attain. Just as well, he knew how much trouble it was for the village in the past to keep up with scrolls. Often times, some went missing or were blatantly stolen. Luo himself could attest to detaining or even killing dissenters who intended to steal the secrets of Kiri. He was protective over his village, and her people. He made sure his scrutinizing eye could watch over technique scrolls for the village.

"There are simple shinobi signature cards which are signed and dated by Kirigakure's shinobi, each one will go into their individual file. As for foreign shinobi, I'm afraid the process is far harsher. In addition to their signature, a blood sample must be produced and kept alongside the signature. In blood there is chakra, and in chakra there is proof. I can't tell you how many times I've read about someone masquerading as another, tarnishing their reputation and prompting a feud. By providing a blood sample each visit with a signature, we can determine if the shinobi is a fraud or not." Luo leaned back in a comfortable position on his seating pillow. He couldn't quite predict how Matsuya would react to this, however it did in fact give the information broker a signature written both in chakra and ink. Essentially, he had more information on foreign shinobi who happened to buy scrolls than any other in the village. Well, save for Luo of course.

It didn't take long for Gage to get back into the 'Shinobi Groove'. He felt good being back on his feet after being bed ridden for so long.

He hoped from building to building until he finally reached the Mizukage's Tower, mostly guessing where the next building was since he could still hardly see through the mist. Gage jumped from the last building near the Tower and hit the ground in a role. Maintaining pace he ran into the tower and passed the Attendant who screamed at him as he passed.

His mind was full of wonder as he made it to the Office. Forgetting to knock he was inside. "I've come as you requested." He said as he took to one knee. As he tilted his head down he noticed Matsuya. 'You...' He thought to himself as he spoke up again. "I didn't mean to intrude, sir..." Gage then kept his eyes on the floor waiting to see what would happen.

((Sorry it's crappy. A bit o' writers block after thinking out the first one. It's been a rather long time since I've posted back to back.))

As Luo's door flew open, the ends of his mouth began to curl downwards. It took a moment however, for him to realize who it was. He had in fact sent for Gage before talking to Matsuya, not expecting to be in such a conversation. As the boy knelt Luo knew one thing for sure, his short encounter with The Frozen Phoenix of the Mist gave him insight into how the Kirigakure frame of mind was for a shinobi. The thought passed as Luo stood however, coming around his desk and walking towards the door, stopping a few feet from the kneeling boy. "At ease Gage," Luo said with a passing wave. Place both hands behind his back, he began to speak on the subject at hand. "This morning I received good news on your behalf. I was able to track down information on you as an Iwa-nin. I wasn't able to locate you actual file, however I was able to retrieve a shinobi information card with your name and village."

Luo didn't mention why one existed, where it came from, or how he got it. It was all information the boy really didn't need to know. The gist of it, was that the boy had an admirer who jotted his information down on a visit to Iwa. It wasn't uncommon for some genin to do things like that, especially if they were planning something. Hell, he knew jounin who used information cards as flash cards to memorize the info and face of every shinobi they've needed to. As for where it came from, it was a hunter-nin who had acquired it at Luo's request of proof of the boy's genin status in Iwa. It took a while to get to, the hunter had explained that there was a black market for Iwa information after its destruction. It was another case of someone turning tragedy into a cash cow. Luo himself didn't like the thought, figuring at some point a disgruntled bunch of Iwa-nin would track the information broker down and kill him.

"So, your refugee status has been approved as lifted. As of today you are a shinobi of Kirigakure should you choose to enlist. I know you are indeed willing to enlist, however a signature downstairs will be necessary before you leave. She'll have the documents ready for you to sign. And so, this brings me to your tutelage. You'll be given a temporary sensei until a formal squad is formed. You are to report to them everyday at whatever location they designate at 9am sharp. Don't worry about finding your sensei, they'll find you." What Luo had said may have seemed like an oddity to the young boy, but it was a practice in Kirigakure that was quite common. Most jounin liked to scope out their students, watching them from afar deciding whether it was worth the time. Often times, this led to teachers swapping genin or chuunin, usually working out for the best as far as the student was concerned. There was no doubt however, his sensei had been watching him since he woke up.

Matsuya smiled a bit as he saw Gage enter the room so abruptly. In truth, the boy reminded Matsuya of himself before he'd taken on the title of Hokage. "Well hello, Gage. Good to see you up and about." He returned to his seat and sat watching Luo and Gage. His mind was, as always, running a mile a minute. Luo had given him something quite interesting to consider. Blood and a signature could do a great variety of things to certain people. It could forge or break alliance. Though, the blood could always be used track and kill the owner. That was something Matsuya would have to devise a security system for. From the description of the shop he'd been given, Matsuya was already running through ways to conceal his files and notes in the second floor bedroom. He could easily transfer it all to scrolls and merely say they were leftovers from the shop below. Though that ran the risk of them being mixed up with the other scrolls. But he could mark the scrolls with a seal of some sort and keep them in a safe, claiming that they were forbidden techniques only available to high-value costumers.

Matsuya smiled to himself and leaned back in the chair. He took a small bite from what remained of the apple in his hand. He casually tossed the remaining core into the rubbish bin that sat near Tare's table of coffee supplies. Matsuya let the last of the apple rush through his senses and sighed contently. He snapped back to reality a second later and started rummaging through the knapsack he'd left near the chair when he'd arrived. All this commotion and underhanded planning had made him forget to put his robe back on. He stood and slipped his left arm through the sleeve and tucked the right sleeve through his belt behind his back. He also tied a sash tightly around his waist and tucked Kage Kira into it. Matsuya untied the bandages around his neck and threw them into the rubbish bin as well. He sat again and looked at the remaining contents of the knapsack. He carried no official Kirigakure headband, rather keeping a robe with it sowed into it for formal occasions. Though, at the bottom of the knapsack sat a white length of cloth with the Kirigakure forehead protector sewed on to it. The cloth itself was embroidered with the design of waves and mist rising over them. He'd forgotten all about it. He pushed the assorted loose paper and snack wrappers out of the way and picked it up. "If only for you, I'll put this on again," he thought. Matsuya's face had went emotionless, something almost unheard of.

Matsuya solemnly tied the white headband around his left bicep. He pulled the knot tight and slowly took his hand off of it. That was the final step, he was back in Kirigakure for good. In his mind, wearing Her headband was a promise to stay and protect their home. Matsuya reached into the knapsack and retrieved what he'd been initially been look for: his money. Luo had been correct, Matsuya wasn't one for banks. He didn't see the idea of someone keeping your money to be responsible. If a man couldn't protect what was his, there was no need for him to have it. Matsuya slowly counted 12,000 gold and put in small stacks on Luo's desk, in denominations of 1000.

Gage was greeted by the Mizukage's usual 'at ease' tone of voice. He stood as he was told and slid his hands behind his back. However informal this meeting was going to be, he was going to keep his composure. If there was anything he learned from the month he spent in the hospital unconscious, it was that he needed to shut out the past at all cost in order to move on in life.

Luo wasted no time at getting to the point of the summon. Gage knew his file wouldn't be located. He was barely a shadow inside Iwagakure. His file was more then likely blank due to how dull his life and experience was there. Then when he mentioned a Info-Card, Gage's whole body shook. His mind began to race, going faster and faster as time wore on. 'How many people have seen it... It needs to be destroyed..' He thought to himself as Luo began to mention needing a signature for Gage to become an official ninja of the Mist. In between sentences from the Mizukage, Gage's mind was still wondering about how he could destroy that info card, maybe he could use some more subtle means to get rid of his true identity. It was then that Luo mentioned a teacher who would begin training Gage until an official" squad was formed. He nodded his understanding as Matsuya spoke up to greet Gage.

"Thank you... Sir..." Gage said quietly as he looked back and forth between the pair of men in front of him. 'Look's like I'm going to have to try the subtle way.' He thought to himself as he spoke up. "Mizukage, sir. I need to ask you to have that info-card destroyed and all who've seen it sworn into secrecy. I cannot go in to details..." As he finished he looked over to Matsuya who was now sitting counting his money. He was the only man who knew why Gage concealed his identity. It was obvious that Gage's hair color and physical features had changed a lot since he was in Iwagakure. If anyone knew who he really was before the Mist, it would only bring Gage back into a realm of emotional turmoil that he couldn't control. 'Matsuya... help me out here...' He thought to himself as he waited for an answer. "Once this is done, I will willingly sign the document and complete any assigned task given to me." He spoke up after a few moments of silence.

It was then he realized that the Mizukage hadn't mentioned how Gage looked, which either meant his face wasn't on the card or that Matsuya had already covered for him. Either way, it was the only thing that Gage knew to do and it was for the best... He would always love his Iwagakure brethren, but right now he couldn't think about them. He was about to begin his new life in the Mist.

Not even after fifteen seconds did Luo and surely Matsuya immediately notice the boy's body quiver. Without hesitation however, Luo continued until he was finished. It seemed the mention of his information card scared the hell out of him. When the boy requested something rather large, and even attempted to use his signature as a bargaining chip, Luo sighed heavily by exhaling through his nostrils. It was a habit the young man had for quite some time, even at times doing it without actually being annoyed. This however, was one of his normal cases of slight annoyance. He wasn't annoyed at the request itself, in fact he found it amusing the boy even attempted what he did. He was annoyed, because it seemed to him the boy just didn't learn anything in the past month. He still had no comprehension of how the shinobi system worked, or how to interpret the information given to him. It would be something his teacher would have to fix, although he doubted the woman was incapable. Internalizing information is half of being a shinobi after all, respect was another.

His gaze fell directly into the irises of Gage now, almost as if he was looking through him rather than out him. Luo didn't necessarily like to repeat himself, another reason he was annoyed. Actually, the man detested repeating himself above most things he had to do on a daily basis. The man as a jounin never had to repeat himself, not once. Everything and everyone was easy to deal with, at least as far as comrades were concerned. With this new position however, came dealing with the public on a whole new level. Not offering protection services where he didn't need to bother talking to the client, but something far more stressful. Now he had to deal with village issues on the whole and how to fix them. The wealthy tried to pander to his sensibilities as the head of the wealthiest clan in Kiri, while the poor and destitute pined for his heart, his sense of common man. It was fact, that the young man was brilliant, able to handle these things seemingly without a sweat, a by all means fair kage who has closed the gap between lower and higher income villagers by 30% since he came into office. However, he hated the repetition of the job and how much he had to tell people the same thing. It irked him to know that in this world there were stupid people like that which existed, unable to follow one direction, or even realize that he would never be swayed. He hated stupidity in this world, in his village. The ignorant do stupid things without knowing what they've done, the stupid repeated idiotic behavior that had already been established as such. He held no tolerance for stupidity, always using the shinobi system as an example. Through the shinobi system, stupidity is weeded out. One who makes a stupid mistake never makes it twice, the result was always either death or a harsh lesson learned. So it baffled him that any old villager who signed up to become a shinobi could be stripped of stupidity, yet the masses continue to allow it to exist. It was a social phenomena Luo thought about more and more as he worked in that office.

"You don't have the authorization to make such requests. In fact, you have no authorization currently. Until you sign those papers you are still a refugee of Iwa, not a citizen or shinobi for that matter, of Kirigakure. And as a refugee of Iwagakure, under Kiri law any and all information about you is mine and mine alone to hold until citizenship is attained. Then that information may be released to you. And under shinobi law of Kirigakure, all of a shinobi's information, past present and future, are to be documented in a shinobi file. This information is privy to the council of Kirigakure as well as the Mizukage himself. I hope you see where I'm going with this." Luo paused for a moment to let Gage think on it for a minute, hoping he'd catch on to the catch 22 situation he was in. It was now that Luo repeated himself so that Gage understood the circumstances of the information and who had seen it as of yet. "I sent one hunter-nin to find your information, and it was returned directly to me as I requested. I don't like to repeat myself so tell exactly what I am getting at. Outside of the people listed, the card has not been seen by anyone else."

Luo didn't mention anything about the picture, figuring if Gage couldn't figure it out then it was his loss and a lesson. It was only Luo and the hunter-nin he sent that saw the card other than the information broker himself. If Gage knew how information brokers worked, he'd know that they don't just show information until it's either been paid for, or stolen. Of course, the card Luo had was stolen, along with every subsequent copy of Gage's card that was attempted. He didn't make any mention of the boy's appearance because he frankly didn't care. It wasn't uncommon for shinobi to change their appearance drastically whether because they were in hiding, or they wanted a fresh start. Gage was too young and inexperienced to be hiding from someone, so Luo already knew what the change was for and accepted it for what it was.

Gage listened to the Mizukage's stern rebuke, if you wished to call it that. It was more along the lines of amusing such a request that Gage now knew wouldn't be obtainable right now. 'Again I'm powerless...' He mused inwardly as the Mizukage told him exactly who had seen the card and who will eventually see the card.

"Yes sir... I understand now..." Gage managed to mumble as he averted the Mizukage's knowing gaze. 'If he only knew the truth...' He thought to himself as he looked towards Matsuya. 'He'll figure it out... I know Matsuya can...'

It took Gage a moment to gather his thoughts before speaking up. "Since it is beyond my power to have the card destroyed, I would like Matsuya to have a copy of the card." He said nodding towards the direction of Matsuya, who was sitting down at this point.

"Thank you for your time, sirs. I will be off." And with that he left, stopping only momentarily to steal a look at Matsuya's face, then walked on to the front desk knowing it wouldn't be long before the man visited him again...

Within a minute, Gage was downstairs. The secretary was screaming and made him apologize for barging in like he did before she let him sign the papers. Finally she gave him the papers to sign and he did so quickly. Just as he finished the woman snatched the papers out of his hand and dropped a Mist Headband in it's place. "Now be gone..." She told Gage as she began to work on whatever else she was working on.

"Thank you ma'am..." Gage said quietly as he turned around and walked out of the door into the foggy mist outside. Once standing outside the door, he looked down at his new headband and sighed to himself. He gripped in tightly in his right hand before reaching over with his left and stretching it it's full length. He wrapped the headband around his neck lightly and let it hang there.

'Now what?' He wondered to himself as he waited to begin his new adventure once again as a Shinobi.

It was also just nice to be able to stay on his feet, the long limping journey to the hospital yesterday was horribly unpleasant. He was even able to ignore his mourning over the past self, who would never dream of going to a hospital concious. It would of course return, but for now he was doing great. Until, he reached the lobby of the tower and found himself staring at the troublemaker who started it all. Masaki couldnt place a name to the face, but it was definitely him, and it brought back every thought he had during the fight. Why couldnt I join? He stood staring at the boy, unsure what to do until his mouth started moving on it's own. "Hey braindead" he called out as he stepped towards the boy. His voice wasnt filled with anger, or scorn, but a small level of approval. His words may have been harsh, but hopefully the boy would see that they werent meant that way. "Good to see you made it out of the hospital alive." As he said this he became keenly aware of the bandage on his right arm, which he scratched. The other bruises across his body hadn't been bandaged, since that was next to useless, and they had turned a sickly dark shade of purple. He reached out his swollen hand to shake the boys. "I dont remember your name. I'm Masaki".

A gentle breeze picked up as Gage stood in front of the office. He smiled to himself as the wind caught the headband that hung from his neck and beat it softly against his chest. Somehow, he hoped he would shut out the memories of his past, all if his failures and cowardice acts. It was time to restart his life in the Village of the Mist...

The smile that plagued Gage's face grew wider as he looked up into the sky. The endless drops off soft rain on his face felt refreshing for once and Gage actually felt like there was hope for tomorrow...

"Hey Braindead."

It came from left and the smile on Gage's face subsided. He turned to meet the voice with an angry look, but when he saw who it was, a grin reappeared. "Oh it's just you..." He said with a slight shiver, trying his best not to remember the battle that had landed him in the hospital. The young boy then mentioned that it was good to see Gage up and about. "Haha, yeah... It took awhile, but I'm back on my feet. I did loose a lot of blood the nurses told me, but apparently the Mizukage showed me favor and took care of everything, including the bill. I was called here as soon as I woke up..." He told the kid, unsure why he even bothered. It was then that Gage noticed how sickly the boy looked. 'He's been training... Hard...' He thought to himself as he looked the boy over. At a glance the boy looked fine, but after looking again Gage knew the poor guy was in some serious pain. Then the boy did something most peculiar. Instead of insult Gage, he simply stretched out his hand and introduced himself. 'I did the same thing when I was that young...' He thought to himself as he reached out his hand and placed his palm on the boys. He chose not to grip it because it was swollen and wished not to harm the boy, but when the boy squeezed he shook lightly. "It's nice to finally get your name, Masaki. I'm Gage Urashimi of the Village Hidden in the Ro-- I mean Mist. Sorry it's gonna take awhile to get used to the new title." He said with a short chuckle. "So, what brings you here?" He asked Masaki, starting up a bit of conversation.
