Some hairclip/brooches I've been making since I was made redundant from my job. 3nodding I'm sticking a few on etsy, see if I can't kill two birds with one stone - dispell some of the boredness I'm feeling without work and make a few $. XD

Some pictures are better than others, I just recently worked out how to macro with my camera. XD;;

The face is partially referenced from a photo (this photo!) of Zoe Jakes, whom I love.

I am very bad at referencing photos, which is why it doesn't look much alike. I tried to at first, then got frustrated, and just began drawing ignoring the photo and .. you know, deviating from it, etc. The process, while not really a successful reference, still looks better than if I hadn't at all.

Anetra - try looking at muscle construction. It might help you understand poses you're referencing better?

It might help me understand not being a hack, too, yeah. Even besides referencing photos I recognize that that is .. definitely a very good idea.

Specifically about that picture, I wasn't really too worried about the pose, to be honest. When I initially worked from the photo, I was left with something that I really hated and didn't touch for about 2 weeks. When I finally went back to fix what I hated about it, I did so without the photo, and so, without trying to work from it. By this point I hadn't done any of the body. All of the body was, then, drawn away from the photo.

My roommate is quite adamant about that I drew her boobies too small. I am quite adamant about that I am still drawing my noses too long, damnit.
