But Hoshi, you see, the Katana was made for slashing, where a rapier could be used to slash or thrust, with equal power.
a swordsman skilled in use of a rapier, would in most cases kill a samurai while he was in mid swing.

"Every scar is a lesson...With a sword, power isn't needed. It takes about a pound of pressure to cut skin with a sword. That is almost nothing.
Therefore, your best bet would be the fastest: A rapier. Zoom in, slash the jugular or throat. Or a stab between the ribcage. It would be over before the opponent knew what hit them. ...Every battle a test of what you have learned."

Hoshioni but you guys otta read the book of 5 rings written by historys greatest swordsmanThat is also a debatable point. Who says that one man is the best swordsman of all time, when in his era, the other sword wielding greats have already passed on?

HermanIII Hey snaps I'm back. Sorry about battling and then dissapearing. The key is to think about how you are being attacked and then planning ahead. I used to play the random battles on Pokemon Battle Revolution and I was beat up regularly. A good portion of my pokemon are the result of me thinking up counters to what I fought. Also try to find ways of turning your opponents strengths against them, if what your opponent is going to do next is obvious don't be afraid to switch. Kind of something Tentae taught me was to cover my weaknesses with moves that can cause super effective damage against the enemy. Like, I taught my Alakazam Focus Blast to protect it from dark types (Using that move I took down a steelix in one hit). I replace substitue with Attract on my Raichu.

Also, my senior year in high school, my senior project was to learn the various types of sword play, and sword forging techniques. So, in my experience, along with the rapier's long blade base, lighter weight, and faster swing speed with minimal effort, Rapier > Katana.
