"I trust your judgment, but," but what? 'don't trust your decision'? That just sounded petulant. He was an Elder, not a kit.
"I won't try to stop you from becoming mates with her. I only hope you know what you're doing."
The gears in Ari's mind were starting to turn, though. He had never really gotten through to Anjafey--they were both too hostile to one another for that--but perhaps Nato could? Had Nato done so already? Ari didn't exactly relish the idea of having a madfox running around his tribe, but if Nato had managed to bring some sense to her...Well. Ari wouldn't complain about that.
"You say she's changed?" Ari asked, not sure if he should bother getting his hopes up or not.

Of course he knew what he was doing. Anja was a wonderful vixen and Nato felt no shame in choosing her to be his mate. But it seemed almost impossible to fix the relationship between Ari and Anja. Nato repressed a defeated sigh and was about to dismiss himself when Ari's question brought him from his thoughts.
Something about the tone of Ari's question gave him hope.
"She has. She has calmed down a lot from when we were younger. Many of the younger foxes of the tribe look to her as their second mother. I have watched her raise my grandkits and one of my great grandkits. I know she is stable, Ari." Nato almost smiled as the remembered watching Anja interact with his grandkits. She had be a firm carer, but a loving one. He trusted her fully.

That gave Ari pause. Anjafey had never been restored to her carer duties, shouldn't have been allowed to help raise kits.
But these were Nato's kits. Nato, who had also lost his first mate, and might have simply asked his new mate for help with the kits, and...
Trying to figure out what he thought about the situation was giving Ari a headache.
The point was, Nato was vouching for Anjafey. Claiming she had changed. Ari couldn't even challenge Nato on that--he had seen some of the change himself, that one time with the crazy fox, when Anjafey, against his expectations, didn't try to attack the crazy fox, and simply tried to get away.
"Ask me again in a few nights," Ari finally said. "I'll think oven what you've said, and give you my blessing--or not--then." He watched Nato, waited to see if his friend had anything else to say, before he started his business around the tribe.

Shinya's ears twitched at the sound of two voice's she had not yet come to recognize. Her body was unwilling to get itself up.It still wasn't used to the change seeing as Bamboo was more of a day time tribe. It yelled at her No NO NO. While her mind said get up and find out who the voices are.
After a few minutes she had finally convinced her stubborn body to get its lazy self up. Stretching and yawning Shinya looked around. Her eyes instantly found the tribe leader and another member who she had yet to get the name off or meet. Mentally she scolled herself ~Bad Shinya it's rude not to introduce your self.~ She sat there for what seemed like awhile as they talked but in reality was more than likely five minutes before going to great the elder. "Hello and Good evening,"She said in a soft voice with a bow respecting her elders like she was taught as a cute little kit.

Shai had been with Nuishan, the two exchanging information about there most recent trip. Recently, they had left to attend a family reunion to show Rendo to the family, and had just returned. That had been there last trip for awhile, both deciding they would stay and assist the tribe as much as possible for a good time. Anyway, Shai needed to help bring more kill into the tribe, and Nuishan needed to see Ari to ask about her job being changed.
Shai spotted his beautiful mate rising, approaching Ari. She had yet to introduce himself. Shai had heard of Ari's mates death, his eyes scanning the now single and alone elder. What was he to do? Tell the male he wished him luck? Well, Shinya would need backup being there.
Shai padded over to the small group, nodding towards Nato with a small but friendly smirk. He remembered when he first joined, when Nato had been kind to him.
"Ari, Nato, good evening. I wanted to speak to you about something, Ari. It concerns my mate, Shinya." He jerked his head towards Shinya, smiling fondly at her.

Content with Ari's final answer, for tonight anyway, Nato nodded to his elder. It was a much better answer than he had expected. Hopefully, Nato could find a way to patch things up between Ari and his mate, Anjafey, and things wouldn't be so tense anymore. The dark male gave a half smile to his friend before turning to leave.
As Nato got up to leave he spotted Shai approaching with the vixen he had seen around the tribe, but not yet met. "Good evening, Shai, Shinya." He said in reply and nodded to them both. "I'm Nato, the oldest Shaman of the tribe." He introduced himself to Shinya directly. "I'll leave you all to your business." Nato nodded once again to all of them and then began making his way towards the caves to tell Anja and the rest of his family that there was hope.
((Era and Eon in the next post. I'm going to let Ari deal with Shinya and Shai first so that he'll have time to freak out when they arrive XD ))

After awhile the tension was driving Anja crazy. Unable to sit around in the caves and keep waiting, the oldest vixen in Lunarie left to wait for her mate halfway between tribe headquarters an their shelter. She couldn't handle Ari right now; she wanted to be happy, and even when she tried to be he always found a way to make her seem insane and dangerous. It was an old and tired game, and one that she didn't seem to be able to end herself anymore.
Besides, she had much bigger things to worry about right now. like telling Nato...
After what seemed like ages of pacing, Anja caught her mate's scent again. At least Ari hadn't killed him to 'save him from his insanity' or something. Shaking away all thoughts of her stubborn Elder, Anjafey trotted out of the shelter of some trees to greet Nato with a small smile.
"It's about time you showed back up," she teased quietly. "How'd it go?" She knew better than to get her hopes up at this point.

Shinya bowed her head to the male "It's a pleasure to meet you Nato,"She smiled sweetly"I'm sure your a terrific shaman and glad to know your one of the oldest. Puts my mind to easy."She said quickly feeling a bit nervous and could tell he was on his way some where and didn't want to keep him. She sat next to Shai and watched as Nato left than turned her attention back to Shai and Ari. A confused look fluttered a crossed Shinya's face like a small bird. Shai had something to say to the elder that concerned her? She was a little worried that she had done something wrong and not known it. Whispering softly to Shai she asked, "What's going on Shai?"

Nato couldn't help but smile when he saw Anjafey emerge from the shelter and greet him. "There is hope." He replied to her question. "He is hesitant but he did not flat out deny us and he is taking a few nights to think it over." Even if Ari didn't give them his blessing, the fact that he thought about it instead of a straight out no was a small victory for Nato and it filled him to the brim with happiness. Nato believed Ari had reached a milestone tonight in reviving their tribe and that made tonight a wonderful night.
The dark male nuzzled his mate and licked her cheek softly. Before he had a chance to tell her anything else, the hoard that was his family was upon them.
"That's wonderful new, Dad!" Mitora exclaimed as she nuzzled her fathers side. At times, Mitora felt like Anjafey had been her mother or motherly to her far more than her actual mother was. Anjafey had been her career and at times she felt the older vixen knew her better than she did. When her father announced that he had chosen to re-mate with Anja, Mitora couldn't have been more thrilled. It would be nice to have a mother again. Even if she was an adult now with children and grandchildren of her own, it would still be nice to have a mom.
"That is so totally a yes! He just has to give you his blessing!" Victoria said as put her front paws on Anjafey's back. Tori never did understand why Ari was such a meany fox towards Anja. Grandpa Nato had tried to explain it to them once but it still didn't make sense to her. All that Tori really knew or cared about was that adding Anja to the family would make both Grandpa Nato and Momma happy and that's what mattered.
Arty decided to copy her mother and nuzzled Grandpa Nato's other side. "I just knew he'd consider." She said quietly. Some of the others in her family had doubted that Ari would even give Grandpa Nato a chance to finish talking after he said Anjafey's name. But she knew. She trusted her Elder to make the right choice and he would. It was the Elders job to do what was best for the tribe, and how could this not be fore the best? Arty smiled as she thought of their tribe coming back to life and being happy.
Veto wanted a part of the family hug/nuzzle too! The young male found his place at Anjafey's side, the one Aunty Tori wasn't occupying, and buried himself in her fur. Elder Ari had only given them a maybe and the whole family was in the highest spirits he had seen them in. He tired to imagine what his family would be like once Great Gramps Nato and Great Grammy Anja got a yes. The thought make him smile and nuzzle into Anja's fur more.

Shai eyed Nato and Anjafey, glancing over to see his sister glumly looking away. She looked lonely without her mate. Rendo hardly ever walked about the lands anymore, and she surely was suffering. Shai wished he could talk some sense to her, tell her to leave her mate, but she never would listen.
Shai had other things to worry about, glancing at Shinya and pausing. He should have asked her, first, actually. The male smiled at her. He didn't want anyone else, or so he hoped not. Shinya made him happy, and while he had to admit he had once been a player, she settled him. He wanted kits and a family. With her. Only ever with her.
"I wanted to ask if you would be my lifemate, but I should have questioned you about it." He wondered if Shinya would realize the deal about lifemates. No matter, Shinya would be his, and Shai would be hers.

Shinya had been completely off guard by the words that had floated out of Shai's mouth. She blinked at him a couple times in shock. Had he just said life mate? That was what it had sounded like she was sure of it. As it sunk in she became embarrassed by such a sweet gesture. She looked at the ground blushing and pawing at the ground speaking in a soft tone, "Oh." She continued to play with her paw on the ground knocking a rock or two around. She than smiled up at him and gave him a kiss "I would love to be your life-mate."She looked up at him. "So we have to ask Ari right?"she asked double checking.

"Hope is better than nothing," Anja agreed, nosing Nato quickly before his--no, their family descended upon her. Consideration was more than she had expected, and her hope was for more than just her and Nato now; she hoped Ari could move on from the past and Kazuki and find happiness himself. No one deserved to be lonely.
Turning away from the thought, she focused her attention back on the large family surrounding her. She smiled to herself; no matter what Ari thought of her, she had been built to raise, take care of and be in a large family. The new situation brought on by becoming Nato's mate suited her perfectly.
Now if only she could find time to tell him in private that they were soon going to be adding new additions to that family...
"Even if he doesn't say yes, it doesn't change things," Anja reassured the group before smiling at Nato. "We're in the same tribe, he cannot forbid our relationship." No matter what he said, Anja would stay with her mate and new family.
Before she could say more, she felt Veto burrowing into her fur. Chuckling softly at the current youngest member of the family, Anja leaned down and nipped his ear affectionately. "Hello to you too, Veto."

Usually Nato let out a sigh and rolled his eyes as his family dogpiled on him, but not tonight. He was far to happy with his family to even think about rolling his eyes at them. The older male nodded to Anja's statement. "Very true." Nato said before nuzzling his daughter and granddaughter. Ari could not forbid their relationship, but having Ari's approval would make things less tense for him.
At hearing his name and feeling a light n** on his ear, Veto looked up and smiled at Great Grammy Anja. The young male was about to ask her a question when the rumble of his stomach caught him off guard. It was time for breakfast. Veto turned to his mother and gave her a light headbutt that he usually used to indicate he was hungry.
Arty turned as she felt a familiar bump on her leg. "All right, Ve, we'll go get breakfast." She said with a smile as she licked her sons forehead. She then turned to the rest of her family "Anyone else care to join us?"
"Your sister and I will." Mitora said smiling at her father and step mother. They had just received wonderful news and she was sure they needed to discuss it without her and her children present. "We'll catch up with you two later." 'Tora said as she dragged Tori off to follow Arty and Veto to breakfast.

He shook his head. "Maybe, though does it matter? I was mistaken, can he really stop us from being life-mates?" He questioned her gently, nuzzling her. Though, he did not want to anger Ari. In the end, the Elder did not have a say, did he? They were of the same tribe, Shinya had not been turned away yet. The fox noted Nuishan and Rendo had not needed to ask, then again they were not life-mates, much to his sisters dismay.
"If he did reject you, if he did say we could not, Shinya I'd..." He turned his head, shaking it before he uttered the words. He loved his tribe, he loved Shinya, it was hard to choose, but easy as well. "I'd leave this tribe for you." He whispered quietly, shaking his head.
He would leave Nuishan, this tribe, Ari, the foxes he called his family, all for one vixen? Yes. All for his beloved, dark beauty. She had won his heart, she was his everything.

Shinya was struck by pure bewilderment. Would he really leave his family to be with her? "Wha...What?" She asked again not sure if she heard right. Keeping her-self pressed close she looked up at him. "You don't have to Shai. I know they mean a lot to you. I could come visit a lot that way you don't have to pick."she spoke quickly. She really didn't want to make him pick over her or his family. He touched her heart when he said he would leave but she didn't want to make him do so. It would be cruel and heartless over her.
