I almost feel like the only one here who only plays one Sax. (I play Alto) I would love to learn how to play another, but I'm not sure if I can.

all saxaphones are the same except for a few fundamental differences: all have the same fingerings. differences: different keys a little bit harder to hit low notes on bari and vice-versa for saprano playing different saxaphones isnt really learning a new instrument, its varying your "style" or the way you play slightly to better suit the saxaphone in question.

xX-S t a r r y-Xx I almost feel like the only one here who only plays one Sax. (I play Alto) I would love to learn how to play another, but I'm not sure if I can. I only play alto, too. whee And sure you can! The fingerings are the same for all saxes and the Bari sax is even in Eb like the alto (soprano and tenor are in Bb). It's just a matter of getting your hands on another sax, which I haven't... I could switch at school, but I like being section leader of one of the bigger sections in the band. Plus, the alto sax gets a lot of the solos in jazz band. biggrin And to that ghosty guy above me: unless you're in England, you spell saxophone with an o, not an a. rolleyes

i play alto sax and clarinet. i love band and almost everyone in band thinks that is strange. most of the people there are only there cause they dont have to do a whole lot. so how many people actually like to be in band? I dont think i would be able to live if i didnt have band choir and math.. lol smile

I also play only one Sax.... but i live with a Bari sax and a tenor sax. so i can easily learn. My mom plays Bari in a community band, and she started on tenor there but found out they didn't have a bari, so she soon fixed that. She bought a REALLY nice, just rebuilt Bari sax for $2500. It was Buescher 400. oh god is it nice! That was last year.
