Mike snapped his fingers loudly. "That's what I'm talkin' about!" he cheered, recalling his Pokemon. "I promise you're going to get some major usage soon!" He smiled, placing the Pokeball in his pocket. He watched as Nina sent out her Dragonair. "Hm..." Mike thought. "It's a long shot, but let's see how you fare!" The boy tossed out another Pokemon, releasing the environmentally appropriate Magmar out into the midst. "Alright Napalm, let's show Nina that new move you got! Fire Punch!"
Napalm broke out into a run, charging at the serpentine Pokemon. He reared back a flaming fist and jumped into the air, swinging down towards the side of the Pokemon. It was a small target, but he was pretty confident of his aim.

As the sun fell down toward the opposite side of the Earth, and the Moon sparkled her radiant beams across the land, there was a sort of calm... A sort of soft, lulling buzz. The chirps of Caterpie... The luminous glow of a gathering of Umbreon. The soft spray of running water, the rumbling of a small river... near the edge of which sat Nero and his Meowth.
"... Ugh... Listen, Clooney. You have to be more careful." Nero complained, as he patched the Meowth's wounds. "You know, I told you that Houndoom was too darn strong. But NO... You never seem to listen to me." He said, and finished his work. "Alright.. all better now." he said, looking at Clooney, who was stretching and clawing on a stump. "Maaoo... Rrrr..." Nero hit his forehead with his palm in exasperation, for the third time today... "Hey, you weren't even LISTENING... were you..?" Nero asked, packing the supplies up, and grabbing a cola out of the side pocket.
"Now... into the wild again..." he sighed, recalling Clooney back into his Pokeball.
He walked around, for a minute searching for something to battle to make his team just that much stronger...

Out of the shadows of the hall a faintly blue orb began to form in front of Boss Macabre. It was a Gastly! But not just any Gastly, but a mass of light blue gas, almost as if it were made of ice.
"B-boss!" The Grunt stammered. "Don't worry, I'll take care of that-"
"-Feraligatr!" Macabre shouted as he quickly distanced himself from the strange intruder. The blue lizard deftly moved across the room as a dark black energy began to glow from its mouth-a lethal Crunch attack no doubt. "You two, restrain the girl!" Macabre instructed the two newcomer guards.
They rushed over to Claire who instantly drew her sword and backed to a corner. "Nice try girlie, but we've got Pokemon to deal with this kind of thing." One of the grunts muttered as he released a menacing Tangela.
Over on the opposite side of the room, Gastly was not to be trifled with! No, he had had enough of these intruders messing with his home. That blonde girl had the right idea and it was time to rebel! This was not the moment to be taken down by a mere lizard. He lead the Feraligatr on and as soon as it looked like he was backed into a corner the beast lunged! Too bad for him, he was dealing with a ghost and nothing could pen Gastly in. With a cheshire grin he phased through the wall to hear a loud crash from the other side.
While the beast was still stunned Gastly quickly phased back into the room and surrounded the Big Jaw Pokemon's rather large head in hopes of suffocating it with his poisonous body. Although surprised the gator remained relatively calm and began to gather shadowy energy once more, but this time, in his long claws.
Meanwhile, Claire had been slashing at the vines of the Tangela to pretty much no avail. If that ghost could just manage to take down the gator, she might stand a chance of escape but until then, she had to hold on. The Tangela was visibly annoyed that it had been chopped up so much but it suddenly had a devious plan. Readying another vine it, slashed straight at Claire who managed to block and thus severed the vine.
But this was no ordinary vine, as the cut was made an explosion of blue powder shot into the air. "Crap," Claire coughed, "a Sleep Powder." Suddenly the powerful effect of the spores made the girl drop to her knees, sword stabbed into the floor. After a few more seconds she fell to the floor entirely. The two grunts quickly ran over picking up Claire as the Tangela whipped the sword from the ground and out of reach.
The guards lifted the girl and turned to where their boss and his Pokemon battled the ghost. "Gastly, watch out!" Claire whispered as she began to lose consciousness. But sadly the ghost was too preoccupied with maintaining his body mass over the beast's head. The Feraligatr quickly reached with his new Night Slash powered claws and ripped the poor ghost in two, viciously slamming it into the ground in triumph. The blue ghost was in utter shock, although losing a few particles of gas wasn't such a big deal since it could always generate more later, the attack was too much for the young ghost and it lay still where it had been thrown.
"These insolent ghosts. We had the hardest time getting rid of the initial ones. Looks like that was the last of them though, seeing as none of its comrades have come to bother us. But this was a blessing in disguise, it seems I have yet another prize for the boss." He tossed a Pokeball to the floor and the blue mass was easily enveloped. After a few shakes and the trademarked ding, the boss picked up the ball and tossed it to the guards that were restraining/supporting Claire. The four Rockets then made their way outside as a black helicopter landed into the wide courtyard of Sprout Tower.

Kasiya let out a happy little squeal when Blaine finally gave in, and she restrained herself from throwing her arms around the gym leader and took a few deep breaths to regain her composure. When Keegan called her name, she looked over at him, nodding to show she'd heard him. She wasn't sure why he was going outside (other than to continue his filthy habit, at the very least) and normally she would have followed him, but this time she decided to give him some space. After all, she knew that he didn't understand or approve her relationship with Mike, and once again she heard the awful things he'd said to her at Slateport ringing through her mind. He never had been fully able to understand that Mike was her best friend, and that she'd do anything to help him, especially now. Of course, she still didn't know the extent of the former friendship that Keegan and Mike and Flannery had back when they were younger, but even if she did it probably wouldn't have made a difference.
She closed her eyes and tried to remember why she'd come back to the Pokemon Center in the first place, and she snapped her fingers as she spied the PCs lined up along the wall. Only one was free and she ran over to it, quickly entering her trainer ID and password. For some reason, she had a strange, almost nervous feeling in her stomach as she turned the Flygon's Pokeball over in her hands, somehow knowing that her initial thoughts of needing Sirrus in the near future were right on the money. She decided then that she needed to drastically rearrange her party, and she lined up Alphonse, Nova, Rosemary and Twilight's Pokeballs for exchange, watching somewhat sadly as they all were sent to Professor Oak's one by one. She'd decided that Levi and Ada were staying with her, as was Sirrus, and that left room for three spots in her party. She sent a request for the professor to send her Ariel, Hiro and Seto, though she was surprised when after a moment, only the latter two of the spheres had arrived, as well as a message on her PokeNav.
It seemed that Oak had been unable to convince Ariel to return to her Pokeball and had nearly been turned into a frozen Professor-cicle as a result of a well-aimed Ice Beam from the Vaporeon. Not having time to get the full story, Kasiya asked for Casimir instead, sending the Professor a quick apology message and hoping that everything was all right with Ariel. She logged off and turned back to her friends as she clipped the Ultra Ball that held her Absol onto her belt, very much ready to get this show on the road.
=-=-=-=-= Jaeshan was having a difficult time keeping his attention focused on only one pair of his sparring Pokemon, and he quickly realized that there would be no easy way for him to do so. For the most part he knew that Blaziken and Shelgon would be all right if left to their own devices, and that the two younger Pokemon, being Beedrill and Squirtle, would be in more need of coaching. This was most certainly the case as he looked over in time to see Beedrill swing at Squirtle (who was still busy hiding in his shell) like a Major League slugger trying for a grand slam. The blonde trainer winced as the Squirtle shell bounced heavily along the ground before coming to a stop, but before he could issue a command it had begun to spin rapidly and soon vanished into a hole in the earth.
Maybe they're better than I'm giving them credit for, he thought, watching as Beedrill gave chase only to be met with a hole in the ground and a mound of soil. He buzzed angrily around the opening, jabbing the air as he waited for the turtle's return. "Beedrill, get out of there! You're gonna get attacked!" Jaeshan warned, but the hotheaded bee ignored him, unaware of the shifting soil behind him. A split second later, the still-spinning shell burst from the ground and smashed into the bee from behind, sending them both to the ground. Jaeshan couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of them - he was sure impressed with the young Squirtle.
Blaziken, in the mean time, definitely wasn't impressed with Shelgon, even though the dragon wasn't doing anything more than defending. Her Slash hadn't been very effective, and she figured that if she went in for another Blaze Kick Shelgon would just use Protect again. The Blaze Pokemon looked over at her trainer, but he was currently watching Beedrill and Squirtle. Fine, as much as she adored her trainer, she knew she could do this without him! She ran forward, her right leg bursting into flames, looking very much like she intended to strike out with a Blaze Kick as she jumped high into the air. Seeing this, Shelgon quickly sent up her Protect barrier, just like Blaziken anticipated. The Blaze Pokemon smirked as she soared over top of the green barrier, the flames dissipating from her foot as she landed behind Shelgon, who'd lost sight of her as she passed over the glowing green shield. Blaziken was ready the moment Shelgon dropped the barrier, flames already spilling from her beak as she unleashed a powerful Flamethrower at point-blank range to the Shelgon's back.

As Kilik ran down the hallways hidden beneath Celadon City, he could hear Grunts yelling to get him. Of these, their leader was Wily. He skidded to a halt when he reached a dead end and turned on his heel, gulping. His Koffing was floating beside him, looking more determined than he would ever look in his evolved form. Wily was closing in, with two other Grunts. Kilik commanded for an attack, but no words came out. Yet Koffing rushed forward with a Smokescreen and the boy ran through it, tackling the other men to the ground. The coast was clear, and he headed down the closest staircase he could find. Clapping filled his ears.
The boy turned to see a man, clad in an orange suit, a pipe clenched in his teeth. He pulled the pipe out and tapped it on the table, ashes falling out all over the floor. When he opened his mouth to speak, the ashes flared up on the ground and fire swirled all around the two of them. Kilik fell on the ground, coughing. When he looked up, he was in the Silph Co's President's office. He stood up, and looked at the floor. A pistol, its barrel steaming, was at his feet. The boy clenched his fists and pounded them against his head.
Kilik opened his eyes and looked to the Treecko that was laying on his stomach. She was sound asleep, and so was the Chimchar beside him. The boy sat up and picked up the gecko, careful not to stir her. When he was sure Drifloon, Treecko, and Chimchar were still asleep, he stood up, walking over to Aggron. "Hey," he put his hand on the behemoth's side. Aggron let out a low growl and swung his tail over, curling it around Kilik. "You've come a long way, Aggron," he said, resting his head on the beast to listen to his breathing, "When you were a Lairon, all you did was destroy. After evolving, you became even more wild and hard to handle. But now..." Kilik laughed, "You're controllable. You have your moments, and I promise you and I will find a place that you can just tear to shreds. How does that sound, buddy?" He looked up to see Aggron was looking at him, nodding affirmatively. No other trainer could do for him what Kilik has done. And he knew that the boy always delivered on his promises. He couldn't wait.

Giovanni received a call while flying over Cherrygrove City, stating that the mission at Sprout Tower had been a interrupted. They had some slight disturbance due to some girl, but the matter had been handled. He told the Boss Macabre that he would meet him in Ecruteak and would take control of the situation from there. When the boss told him that he had captured a rare Pokemon for him, a smile spread on Giovanni's face. It wasn't as if he didn't already have countless rare Pokemon for his own use, but one more couldn't hurt.
He looked out the window to see Goldenrod City, the people down below looking like ants. Yet that's what people always were to Giovanni - insects to be crushed. Team Rocket had become one of the most powerful forces in the world, even forcing the Hoenn Region's own Team Aqua and Team Magma to cower when confronted by Giovanni. He did have ties with both organizations, and was close to Maxie and Archie. After hearing that the Team Aqua base in Lilycove was infiltrated by none other than Mike and Kilik, Giovanni sent multiple donations to Archie to help him get back on his feet. He wasn't quite sure what the man was doing now, nor did he have a clue what Maxie was cooking up in that volcano lair of his.
These thoughts all left his mind when the helicopter touched down in Ecruteak, and Giovanni stepped out. His Persian followed, who had apparently jumped into the vehicle at the last moment. "Spread out!" he barked at the grunts. "Nobody goes into the Tower, except for me and my Admins. Proton," he pointed to a man with blue hair that jutted out from his black hat, "Go inside and get the Grunts back out here. And you, Petrel," he commanded a purple haired man with a goatee that matched, "Stay out here and make sure they don't do anything...stupid. When Boss Macabre arrives, order him into the Tower."
After Proton had made it back with the four Grunts that were inside, Giovanni cleared his throat. "Proton, Leo. You're coming in with me." And with that, the man stepped into the charred fossil of a building.

Mitsu nodded when Blaine had agreed to take them. "Thank you," was all she could manage to utter through the waves of emotions that were crashing around inside her. This wasn't how she wanted to deal with the feeling of loss and sorrow and fear she always felt when she thought of Mike. Actually, she didn't want to deal with it at all. That's why the emotions were placed back in the farthest and darkest recesses of her mind. The place where all her problems inevitably were trapped, far from light and far from her consciousness. But once in a while, like right now, one of her problems were be wretched from the hidden parts of her mind and thrown into the open. She'd writhe and shake, not knowing how to deal with the feelings.
She hardly noticed Keegan exit the Pokemon Center or Kasiya floating to the PC. But she followed suit after the blond had returned to their small group. "I promise we'll train soon Haku," Mitsu whispered, her hand shaking as she placed the Pokeball into the machine. She quickly selected Nightmare's Pokeball and swiftly pocketed the sphere into her bag. She would need him. She knew it.
The purple haired trainer returned to the group, trying her best to keep her composure. She was doing a rather decent job, if she could say so herself. Eying the trainers and then Blaine, she nodded once more, ready to go.

The stretches weren't terribly hard, that is if you were flexible, which Robin wasn't really. Robin blew her bangs out of her face and groaned as she picked herself up from the ground, she had fallen like five times all ready, she had a lot of practice to do! Still she wasn't giving up no matter if she fell one hundred times! Growling she pushed herself back up and got back into position finishing up the stretch under Tony's watchful gaze.
"Ok I think your body is as stretched as its gunna get. Your gunna have to work on those every day, but each time you do it you will get better and better. Soon you might not even fall on your face!" Tony laughed at Robin making her frown a little before stopping. "All right, you don't have a lot of time with me, Ampersand will be taking care of the bulk of your training. So what I am going to teach you is something that will help tame that wild energy of yours. You are going to learn tai chi."
"Tai chi? That's the really slow one right?" Robin wasn't to sure, she had heard of it but never seen it before.
"It can be slow or it can be fast. Speed though isn't what you are learning it for. Your energy is everywhere Robin and you need to learn how to focus it. If you train everyday then you can learn to focus your energy and be a better trainer." There was a serious look on Tony's face, like he was trying to make a point to the goofy girl in front of him.
Robin herself wasn't to sure on this, harness her energy? Well she wasn't to sure what he was talking about but he knew better then her probably. "Hmm, well ok. Your the expert not me!"
"All right lets get started."
Oh this was just impossible! Raz had never given up on anything in his life before but right now it was really testing him! Ok he needed to calm down, he couldn't do this if he was angry. Doing his best to calm himself down Raz eyed the Weavile wearily, now how was he supposed to do this? Wait! Didn't Tony mention something about using Psychic? Maybe he should combine his Psychic with his Double Team?
All right! He was almost there! Brook swiftly dodged another one of vines just in time to get smacked in the face with another one. Oh so close! Brook winced as he picked himself up again and stared at the whirling cyclone of vines. Gah this was gunna be a problem. Still if this was a real battle those vines would be hurting a lot more and he wouldn't get this many chances. Gritting his teeth Brook picked himself up and charged forward again, he had to start paying attention to the vines movements, look for a pattern of some sort.
The newly evolved Monferno was having a bit of a better time then when he was a Chimchar at avoiding the damn bees. Growling slightly Ace waved his flaming tail around trying to get the bee's to fly away. Ok, well that kinda worked but he was stuck here not being able to move. Ace watched the swarms of bee's flying around protecting the Vespiqueen. The bee's didn't really like the fire to much, maybe he could do something with that. Tony said something about evading while countering at the same time? He had to combine his flames with his movements somehow, maybe his new evolution could help.
Espeon backed up away from the Slowpoke, she had spent a lot of time in the others mind and she was sure she had it now! All she had to do was test it out, and what a better way to test it then to test it in a battle. Tossing her head back the Espeon sent a wave of Confusion at the Slowpoke. Expecting the attack to go through Espeon was pleasantly surprised when her Confusion was countered at the last moment by the Slowpokes own Confusion.
Urg! This pokemon was so strong! Luffy winced as he was hit back by the Lucarios Counter ability. He had never faced an opponant like this before, if this is what they would be facing from now on then there was no way he was strong enough. Growling Luffy felt determination wash through him. He had to get stronger! He had to be strong enough to protect his friends and strong enough to stand up to all these new pokemon. Pushing himself off once again Luffy continued his attacks not relenting no matter how much he was hit back.

Junko covered her mouth again, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to be so loud." She could feel her face turn red when the boy leaned in close and whispered in her ear. It wasn't like she had never been called cute before and she agreed that she was adorable. She hadn't really spent much time alone with another boy though. Jomei was always there, making sure to position himself in between any potential admirers of his sister. "Isn't Carvanha like a shark or something?" she questioned him. She had never seen one in person but she knew that she had at least read about it once, and that it was a water type and maybe another type too. She continued to walk with Maz, unaware that her Pokemon was up to some mischief.
As the poor fellow, who had made the off handed comment as he was passing by, was turning to escape from Banette's onslaught of frightening images, he came face to face with the Requiem Pokemon. Hades had his ghostly hands covering his skull face when the man turned in his direction, quickly removing them and pushing a giant red tongue out from under his face as if he were playing peek-a-boo. His single crimson eye bounced back and forth inside his skull like ping pong ball and he let an earsplitting shriek escape from his assumed mouth. The man jumped at the sound of the scream, but other than that didn't seem to afraid of the ghost. He quickly got to his feet and glanced behind himself to see if the other specter was still occupying the space. Upon seeing the Banette again he ran as fast as he could back into the park. Hades looked to his new friend. How was that?
~~~~ "I'm not really lost..." the beautiful young girl answered, studying the ground. "I'm looking for something, but I can't seem to find it." The girl snapped her head up and looked into Jomei's eyes with her sparkling baby blues. "Maybe... Maybe you could help me find it?" she grabbed a hold of his free hand with both of hers, she was almost on the verge of tears.
Whoa! This poor young girl, Jomei thought, I have to help her find what ever it is she's lost. He closed he closed his eyes and gripped her hands with now both of his, positioning the egg under his left arm. It's my duty as a trainer to help her-Nay, as a man. He looked deep into her eyes and spoke, "Ma'am, what ever it is that you're looking for I'll help you find it." He inhaled a deep breath and paused for dramatic effect, "I SWEAR IT TO YOU!"
The girl blinked a bit and removed her hands from his grasp. "Th-thank you." she said. She started to look around herself at the forest, then she turned back to the boy. "What I'm looking for... Is a Hoothoot." she whispered as if mentioning its name would scare them all away.
The boy's expression changed almost immediately when hearing the word Hoothoot. "Oh..." he said blankly, "Well, I mean they're kind of common here. I don't really think you need my help to catch one. Just wait around till dark and I'm sure one'll come out." he assured her, waving his fingers back and forth. "Like, I just caught one too, and it's not even night out."
"BUT THEY'RE MY FAVORITE!" she yelped suddenly in his face, "I WANT ONE NOW!" The boy was a tad taken aback at her sudden outburst and almost fell over. "Maybe... If you don't mind..." the girl returned to her quiet tone, "would you trade the Hoothoot you just caught? I'll give you a really nice Pokemon in return!" she snickered. "You can only find it in a place called Sinnoh!"
Jomei pondered her offer for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck. "Umm, I dunno" he began, "I've never traded a Pokemon before. I don't know if i should..." he trailed off.
"Oh, you gotta trade! Everybody should trade! Let's start trading!" the young girl insisted, holding her fists in clenches close to her face.
Blaine let out a sigh as he saw the kids disperse and (more importantly) quiet down when he agreed to take them back to his Gym. The old man ran a hand over his bald head, wondering how he got himself into this mess. Sorry Mike... he said to himself, as if the boy could hear him. So much for keeping the poor boy's secret. He wanted just to run to the door and have Ronald fly him out of here, but those kids would just follow him no matter what. Stupid kids, he thought. They think they're helping, but what's to say the boy doesn't have another meltdown while they're all there? Blaine sighed again, and noticed that the girl in pink had not stopped staring at him since the whole thing started.
Sasha remained on watch as her friend's went to go grab a breath of fresh air or change their teams. She frowned when she realized just how outclassed she was. She didn't even have more than six Pokemon, and one of them was a newborn. The girl broke eye contact for a moment and leaned against the counter. "I know you don't want to do z'his." Sasha said after a long pause. "But it's what he would have done. Mike z'hat iz. He always rushes into things without s'hinking, but it's what makes h'eem such a good friend. Without a second thought, re rushed off to save Kass when she was captured by Team Rocket, and him and Kilik tore the Team Aqua base apart to look for me." Sasha lowered her head, looking down on the floor. A teardrop made its way from her eye, splashing on the plain, beige tile below.
"No matter what he's done in the past, he saved my life. I cannot stand to s'hink the boy who has done so much for all of us is all alone, s'hinking all his friends have left him." Sasha looked back up to Blaine, wiping a tear from her eye. "You have to understand."
Blaine said nothing, but nodded in agreement. When Mitsu and Kasiya returned, he nodded to them as well. "Where is the boy? The ruffian-looking type? Is he coming along with us?"
Nina raised an eyebrow; "Well now, Napalm! That's another Pokemon I haven't seen in quite some time," she commented. I wonder why Mike sent him out? Hmm... The girl smiled a little bit, cocking her head as she watched the Magmar running, and then jumping towards Krystal, ready to attack her. "Mm... wait for the right moment, my darling," she said to her Dragonair, a bit of a dreamy tone to her voice.
Krystal understood what Nina was getting at. She allowed her opponent to strike her; all things considered, the damage wasn't terribly substantial, but it still hurt nonetheless. Taking advantage of Napalm's close proximity to her, the end of Krystal's tail began to glow a dark blue, preparing for an Aqua Tail attack. In one quick motion, she viciously lashed it towards her opposition.
Riza had decided against recalling Diemia into her poke ball for now, as lately she hadn't seen a whole lot of action and she still seemed to be looking pretty good after that last battle. The Corphish walked along beside her trainer, glaring up at every person they passed along the road in hopes of provoking a battle, but either people just didn't notice or they weren't trainers. Before long, the duo could see Saffron City rising up in front of them, and though Riza had been hoping to run into a few wild Pokemon for Diemia to battle.
They passed through the Saffron gate a short time later, and Riza looked around the large city in wonderment. She'd never been in a city so big before, though she soon realized it would be difficult to locate the pokecenter or other places of interest. As she looked around, she could tell that there would be no shortage of people to ask for directions, especially if she were to confront a boy her age and pour on the charm. Diemia had started to look tired by now and was put back into her poke ball. It didn't take long for Riza to spot a somewhat attractive young man walking along down the street, a Raticate at his side. Riza smoothed out her hair and walked over to him, smiling when she saw he took no time in noticing her. "Hi," he said, his Raticate stopping at his side.
"Hey there," Riza said, glancing down at the Pokemon. "That's a tough looking Pokemon you've got there."
"Oh, yeah," he answered, his gaze never leaving the raven haired girl. "This here is Nibbler, and he is pretty tough."
"Then that must mean you're a tough trainer," Riza replied, prompting a grin from the boy. "I'm new here in town and I'm a bit lost, do you think you could show me the way to the pokecenter?"
"Sure, of course!" he said brightly. "I wouldn't mind at all."
"That's great, thank you," Riza smiled, linking her arm with the boy's. "Lead the way!" * * * * * Katie could see Mount Coronet looming high above her on the horizon, but she had no plans to go that far for her training. Once she found an area not too far from the city itself she let her six energetic Pokemon out of their poke balls, with only Genki and Seraphim being the ones to have not met their two newest team members. All in all they all seemed to be getting along, even Genki and Noa for the time being, and it wasn't long before Katie paired them up. Genki would be training with Miles and Noa would be working with Nell, which left Seraphim and Kord. At first Katie had considered sending the all off to do their own thing but she soon realized that it would be far too difficult for her to keep track of them all, so Genki and Miles were up first (mostly because Genki would likely be the key factor in her upcoming match with Gardenia, and Miles would not).
'This should work out pretty well as long as Genki doesn't use his Thunderpunch,' the girl thought, adjusting one of her long, orange ponytails. "Okay guys, let's see what you can do!" she called, nodding to Miles. "Genki, don't be too rough on him," she added, prompting a nod from the Monferno. "Miles, start off with a Quick Attack!" The Buizel gave a quick nod as well before lowering himself so that he down on all fours. With a flick of his twin tails the sea weasel was on the move, white light trailing behind him as he poured on the speed.
Genki blinked in surprise at the Buizel's speed. He'd battled a few of them before but he'd never seen one this quick! The Monferno crouched down, watching the speeding orange and blue blur carefully before he jumped up and over Miles, landing safely on his feet. He'd turned around to see how the Buizel had reacted, but instead found himself ducking as a Sonic Boom had been sent his way. Miles had been expecting the Monferno to evade so he was prepared to attack with something else. 'Okay so apparently Miles thinks ahead,' Katie thought, smiling. 'That's impressive!'
"Oh, I'll go get him!" Kasiya piped up, grinning up at the bespectacled man, oblivious to just how annoyed he was. She had picked up on his initial reluctance, but the fact that he had agreed to take them to Mike made her believe that Blaine understood just how much Mike needed them right now. She apologized as she nearly knocked an older boy to the ground in her haste to go find Keegan, though the moment she stepped through the sliding doors she caught sight of him, leaning up against the nearby wall. Loki was coiled up around his legs and he was smoking again, which didn't surprise her. He looked strangely sad, and she made her way over to him with slow, quiet steps. "Hey there," she said, being sure to keep one eye on the Arbok. "Blaine's ready to go," she said, looking up at him. "That is, if you're going. I'll understand if you don't want to, because I know you and Mike have never gotten along and all that, but I just thought I should let you know." She sighed and leaned against the wall next to her, still wary of Loki. She never had been good at dealing with fighting, especially when it occurred between her friends.
=-=-=-=-= It was safe to say that Shelgon wasn't expecting a wave of scorching flames to strike her from behind and she let out a loud cry, quickly pivoting on the spot and lashing out with a set of glowing purple claws. Blaziken smirked as she jumped back out of reach of the Dragon Claw, mostly glad that she'd finally been able to outsmart her older teammate. It was too bad Jaeshan hadn't been watching though, but she figured it was best to show him moves like this the next time she was in an actual battle. Blaziken let out a growl as she dug her claws deep into the ground, attempting to fling a clump of dust and dirt into Shelgon's face, but the dragon blocked it with an Ember. Once again Blaziken danced back, not fearful of being hit by such tiny flames, but more so of the powerful Dragon Claw and Zen Headbutt moves the dragon possessed in her arsenal.
Meanwhile, Jaeshan was wondering how much longer these two younger Pokemon could keep it up, though neither seemed to be willing to call it quits as of yet. Having been slammed by Squirtle's Dig attack, Beedrill struggled to recover, and when he did he sped at the turtle for a Twineedle attack. Squirtle saw it just in time and he ducked into his shell, squeezing his eyes shut as the bee passed him by overhead. He poked his head out, and the two Pokemon faced off once again, both quite enjoying this little match.
=-=-=-=-= Leo said nothing and looked back at the handful of grunts he'd brought along with him, the members of his Silver Squadron all wearing the same silver-coloured jackets, though his was longer. He motioned for them to remain where they were as he followed Giovanni into the burned husk of a tower, not entirely sure what his boss expected to find here. They'd stumbled across the information pertaining to the Kanto relic purely by accident, though Mai had done a good job of recovering it quickly and efficiently. He hoped that if the Johto relic really was here, they'd be able to retrieve it with the same ease.
The helicopter had taken off and all the men on board were nervously awaiting their arrival at the Burned Tower. Boss Macabre began to polish his glasses for the sixth time. Straightening his black shirt collar and making sure his red "R" pin was perfectly placed. He glanced into the back of the chopper where Claire was tied up, and still sedated by the sleep powder with a sly grin.
"Well, this'll give us just the chance we need to do the final test of our latest invention. Our work from back during our Slowpoke Well incident has not been in vain. Certainly I was a lowly grunt at the time, but as you all can see, great things can come to those that prosper in Team Rocket." The boss rubbed his hand casually through his short brown hair. "Ready the device."
The two grunts keeping guard over their captive knelt down and placed a strange helmet onto the top of Claire's head. After connecting a few wires, the lights on the device began to glow. "Sir," one of the grunts remarked, "We only have enough power on the copter for a temporary charge. I'd say it'd be only a few hours at best before we'd need to do another blast."
"That's plenty of time. Do it." Macabre nodded. All the tests on the monks proved that the device worked, but they had yet to achieve total control of the subjects. The grunt pushed the button on a control box connected to the device and a soft hum was heard. Meanwhile, Claire began to abruptly flinch. After a few seconds, the procedure was over and Claire slumped back down, breathing heavily.
"How much longer until the powder wears off?" Macabre requested as Ecruteak city loomed in the distance, growing steadily closer. But the boss's question was soon to be answered as Claire began to stir once more.
What's going on? And why does my head ache... Claire slowly opened her eyes, but everything was fuzzy. He eyes wildly began to focus and soon the inside of the helicopter was once again in view. The girl slowly gazed through the cabin as moving quickly was instantly met with a spike in the dull pain she currently felt.
"Good to see you again my dear. It seems you had a nasty run in back there, but we managed to pull you out in just the nick of time." Macabre stated smoothly. "Oh my! Gentlemen, how could we forget to take our top agent's bindings off?" Macabre added, noticing the curious look Claire was giving to her bindings. The two grunts looked to one another and shrugged before they began to untie the ropes. "Do you remember your name?"
"It's Claire... I think, my memory is hazy, I can't seem to..." Claire trailed off and clutched her head. Suddenly a vision of a young girl with long blonde hair, playing in the shade of a large tower came into her mind. LIke a tape of fast forward, the girl appeared again, but this time swinging a wooden sword through the air to a beat tapped out from a distant source. But as soon as this vision appeared, it blurred and was replaced by the same girl, a little older, sitting at a low table. Again the images began to change, but instead of a new one forming the dull ache peaked to a terrible peak forcing Claire to grunt in pain and brace herself on the floor while beads of sweat began to form on her body.
"Oh dear, it seems those terrible officers that grabbed you must have done something to you. It seems like they might have altered your memory even. But don't worry C, we'll do all we can to get them back. You can count on us here at Team Rocket." Macabre placed his hand on her shoulder. "Now, let me bring you up to speed on the situation."
"The police had a... misunderstanding about our group, and they kidnapped you along with one of our test subjects. We just managed to pull you out of there and escape. Now we're going off to meet the leader of our Team, to Giovanni, to return the stolen Pokemon that those foolish officers stole from us."
"Why would they take it, the Pokemon?" Claire asked.
"Oh, it was a rare blue Gastly. You had the pokeball held tightly to your breast when we found you unconscious." Macabre pulled the red and white sphere out of his pocket and handed it to the girl. "I'll let you have the honor of returning it to him. With this, we can continue our research into the mysteries of these, commonly called, 'Shiny' Pokemon."
"We're landing in two minutes." The pilot barked back to the crew.
"Excellent. Well, I'll leave you to your thoughts. Oh, and we'll see about the treatment options we have available for your amnesia after we meet with the boss. We actually just started our own research into memories that should prove very helpful for your... ordeal." And with that Macabre went up to the pilots segment of the copter and closed the door. He would need to relay this test information to Giovanni if his plan were to work smoothly. "Open a line to Petrel, he should be the one on guard duty." Macabre instructed.
Mike didn't know what Aqua Tail was, but he was damn sure he hated it. "Napalm!" he cried out, trying to shout over Nina. "Dodge it!" Unfortunately, it was too late. Napalm's fist slammed into the side of the Dragonair, but almost instantly after, he was slammed into the ground by a tremendous force. "Magm-MPH!" his grunt was cut off as his beak was driven into the floor like a railroad spike.
"s**t!" Mike cursed. This was bad. Really bad! "Pull yourself out and use Psychic!" The Magmar slammed his hands against the ground and pushed. After a moment of struggling, Napalm freed himself from the floor and rolled to the side. His eyes glowed blue as he thrust his hands forward to kinetically throw the Dragonair back.
The boy, named Jason, was more than happy to show Riza the way to the pokecenter, though it did leave plenty of opportunity for him to tell her all about his Pokemon, but Riza didn't mind. After all, he was taking time out of his training to help her. Other than his Raticate, he also had a Weepinbell and a Zubat, though the Raticate was the only one kept out of his poke ball. Nibbler was a very well behaved Pokemon, and he even let Riza pet him at one point too. Jason also showed Riza the two badges he'd won, the Boulder Badge from Pewter City and the Cascade Badge from Cerulean which prompted Riza to showcase the Thunder Badge she'd won for defeating Lt. Surge. All in all she enjoyed the boy's company and was actually a little sad once they reached the pokecenter.
"So where are you heading next?" she asked him as she gave Eris', Diemia and Plua's poke balls to the nurse, though she gave her Akima and Yula's as a second thought, just in case.
"Actually I'm going to Vermilion to challenge Lt. Surge," he said, returning Nibbler to his poke ball so he could get healed as well. "I'd been thinking about it for a while, but it wasn't until I saw your badge that I made the decision to go for it."
"Well, aren't grass-type Pokemon resistant to electric attacks?" Riza offered. "That should help you out a bit in your match."
"Yeah, I think you're right," Jason answered, his eyes shining. "Thanks, Riza! I'm definitely going for it now. Thanks for the inspiration," he said as his Pokemon were returned to him.
"You're welcome. I might just go and challenge Misty before the upcoming contest. I need all the practice I can get." she replied.
"Oh, that's right, you're in training to become a coordinator, right?" he asked, nodding. "Gym battles and contests are very different, but I think you're right. The more battles you participate in, the better your Pokemon get. You can always refine their moves later on, too."
Riza smiled, and nodded. "Yes, that's true, too. I hadn't thought of it. I guess I owe you thanks as well." She took back her own Pokemon and clipped them to her belt. "Well, it was nice talking with you. Good luck in Vermilion!"
"And good luck in Cerulean with both the gym and the contest. I'll be rooting for you!" The two trainers said their goodbyes and exited the pokecenter, Jason heading south while Riza went north, more determined than ever to get to Cerulean City, as she was sure that Crenu was well on his way by now. * * * * * Genki was also impressed by his teammate's quick moves and even quicker thinking, but he wasn't about to tell Miles that. The Buizel was grinning broadly at him and the Monferno smirked back. He liked this new guy, he wasn't like that annoying Staravia and her desperate need to always show him up. Now that he was thinking about him, Genki looked over at Noa perched on the sidelines, Nell sitting quietly next to her. The bird stole a quick glance at her trainer before looking back to the Monferno and she gave an annoyed sounding squawk which caused the monkey to glare at her once again.
This left him wide open to a Water Gun to the side of the face courtesy of Miles, and he uttered what must have been a curse word in Pokemon speak as he looked over at Miles, who shrugged. Genki sighed and shook the water out of his fur. He couldn't blame the Buizel for attacking when he wasn't paying attention, and though he hated water he wasn't too upset that Miles had capitalized on the moment. "Genki," Katie managed between giggles, "try your Mach Punch!" The Playful Pokemon gave a nod and dashed forward, showing off his impressive speed as well. He extended his fist, which had started to glow a bit, though he had no intentions of throwing all his strength into the attack. It was time to see how well Miles could evade!
The Sea Weasel Pokemon narrowed his eyes as the Monferno raced towards him, and he knew he had very little time to think of something. In the wild, he probably would have just used his Quick Attack to escape, but he couldn't exactly just up and flee this time. He needed to think of something. The Buizel's eyes suddenly lit up as an idea hit him. He jumped back and pointed his nose in the air before releasing a large spray of water into the air - a Water Sport. Blue droplets began to cascade down all around them, rendering fire-type attacks weaker than normal and also making for a quick, makeshift rainfall. Genki skidded to a stop as the water began to rain down all around him, and his flaming tail hissed loudly as droplets struck it and evaporated. The Monferno backed away slowly. He didn't like the idea of getting wet, as even lower level Pokemon could still inflict some serious hurt on him with their water-type attacks.
