IronDeath Teh Lost Soul I have three but actually one of them is the School's... I'm pathetic.. One's a pocket The other is a cornet- It was in a flood and it smells really bad... The other ones the schools wich is all old and horrible looking... at least I know which one is mine xd So does anyone want to give me tips to help teach my friend how to play because she just got her braces and started... I want to help because She's last chair... I'm only a chair above her... I was last chair until she joined... She can almost hit low C.... Any advice is greatly appreciated. if u cant hit the low notes then your pathetic and theres nothing any1 can do 4 u.sorry but thats the truth dude...no dont say that. Its not cool. just because you cant hit low notes just means that you need to practice more is all.

blooddragon-ninja12 I'm a noob when it comes to playing the trumpet. But if I do say so myself I can play pretty well. But I hvae a question to ask of you guys. How is it the best way to get rid of the gitters befor a concert and to stay calm while playing a song? Thanks! I just take deep breathes....and it kinda helps...if you like try out or play in front of ppl alot. I mean for godsakes...here at my high school we have to play in front of a recording machine...and were all still nervous as hell when we go to play. but what i do is take deep breathes to calm down some...XD

I own two trumpets. A used yamaha and some crappy chinese on that started coming apart at the welds. About the whole mouthpiece size thing I really would'nt know. All I ever use are 7c's.

ok a question about mouthpieces i've been playing trumpet for just over a year, but i've been in band since 4th grade (im in 10th now, and i used to play clarinet) my trumpet came with a mouthpiece, but i have no idea what size it is, there isnt any marking on it and its pretty beat up, b/c its a used trumpet (holton collegiate - made in 1947) i can play from a low g (below staff) to a high c (above staff) what size mouthpiece should i use??? any help would be greatly appreciated! biggrin

another mouthpiece question: does the mouthpiece need to be the same brand as the trumpet ie: could a yamaha mouthpiece be used on a jupiter trumpet?

I've been playing the trumpet for seven years. I have two trumpets, a Bach Strad.. and some other crappy horn that doesnt work. It really sucks, the valve doesnt fit in the casing, so its really airy and crappy. I'm probably getting a new horn soon, though. I'm first chair in the 2nd highest band at my school, out of five bands.

x-laurencha-x another mouthpiece question: does the mouthpiece need to be the same brand as the trumpet ie: could a yamaha mouthpiece be used on a jupiter trumpet? Ohh. it makes no difference. I have this crazy expensive some-brand-ive-never-heard-of jazz mouthpiece that I use on my Bach all the time.

It really depends on what feels the best for you. I'm a personal fan of the 3-C.. But a lot of people use 5-C's. They're both pretty great.

x-laurencha-x another mouthpiece question: does the mouthpiece need to be the same brand as the trumpet ie: could a yamaha mouthpiece be used on a jupiter trumpet? Yamaha makes really good mouthpieces'. My band director recommended that i get a yamaha 14B4G...its pretty nice. it has a gold lining around the cup. ^^ and it makes it easier to play high notes...but its a sacrifice for your low notes. ^^ but i can still play just as low as i did with my 7c. XD lol.

run a tub of water...dip it in...dry it with a towel...then polishing cloth....now for the valves and things i use q-tips to get that gunk out. But usually a snake works for the lead pipe and things of that nature. thats basically what i do...but eh...whatever.

Ridley45 what do you guys recommend? ive been using 3c like forever im thinking about going 1 and a half c or whatever it is (my friend told me) oh dear lord, never ever use any c cup mouthpiece smaller than 3, it really depends on what your playing, for concerts i'd stick to a c or d between 3-5 for jazz, definitely a b cup probably a 5, and for marching use an a or a c, i know thats an odd jump, but a's give you that real sharp brassy sound for big band shows(swing swing swing, in the stone ,etc.), and c's are just a nice all around fairly mellow tone for slower shows(Oh Danny Boy, Flight of Valor etc.) I use a 5B in my cornet, and a 5C in my trumpet, i don't like the tone i get with 3's.
