I suggest just post what you have and add the other one when you get it.

Why is my computer going so incredibly slow at the moment?? I've only got this one window open, and I'm not running any virus scans or updating or installing anything. It's irritating me...

Ah yah. Tabby said she was grounded from the computer for a few weeks. So she may not be able to turn it in. I'll PM this to Lorrieta just in case you don't see this.

Aight. Listen up, people. After looking at the Entrance Hall, I realize we should consider making changes to the format. Why? Because of:

A.
Graduates. This guild can't only be about Hogwarts anymore (especially if we plan to make new subforums for Hogsmeade and other wizarding world places). ...also, I have no idea where we were going with that blank graduates post. Seriously, what were we gonna do with that, mods? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Chief? McCloud?

B.
Repeat Info. Each subforum has an announcement detailing the rules & guidelines of that area. Which means some of the Entrance Hall info is redundant. I feel shady telling members they can't make repeat threads when we mods are breaking our own rules. redface

C.
Guild Positions. There are many guild positions available/taken in this guild that are never mentioned up front, like Librarians and School Nurses, shopkeepers or other various non-student non-teacher positions. The Entrance Hall might be a good place to put this. ...or maybe the RP subforums. Something to think about.

Anyway, here's my first brainstorm for updating the Entrance Hall. Each number signifies an Entrance Hall Post, and whatever info is under it will be added to said post. Any info moved out of the current EH posts have been listed next:

Quote:
1. Table of Contents
2. Rules
- Read the Announcement in each subforum for rules.
+Elaborate on Banning Process

3. *Guild Ranks
- Summary of positions
+ House Elf
+ Student
+ Junior Prefect
+ Prefect
+ Deputy Head (Head Boy/Girl)
+ Head of House
+ Teacher
+ Graduates: Opportunities?

6. Wizarding World Population (formerly Student lists: will have house-elves, students, and graduates?)

7. Event Calendar
- Re-Open Calendar thread for questions and ideas

8. F.A.Q. (may need cleaning up)

--------------

Moving:

Special Positions (Trophy Room [To Be Made])
Crew Duties (Care-Taker's Office)
House-Elf Info (Giggling Pear! Duh, cause it should be there already.)
Teacher Info (Halls of Learning. Duh, for the same reason.)
House Points (Care-Taker's Office? No idea.)

What does everyone think of this? What do you think should change? What should remain the same?

I support everything you have said in A. Graduates.

Not so much in post B. Repeat Info. Rules need to be reinforced, it is much more convenient to have a set of rules in each topic then have to click back to the main page then click to the page in that topic and so on.

Hum… interesting point for C. Guild Positions. Maybe a topic in the Role Playing section of the guild should be made so discussion or direct questions may be posted there. *thumbs up*

Um… I’m a bit daft today so work with me… but I really don’t understand the overall of the Entrance Hall… are we making a sub-forum topic for the Entrance Hall or is it staying where it is…?

I think Crew Duties should be kept in the Chamber of Secrets other then that everything else seems good.

Entrance Hall stays where it is. This discussion is about how we will update said Hall.

Wait I'm confused... are you all for repeating info in the EH or against it? (Example: We have a detailed description of teachers and how to become one in the Teachers section of the EH. But this info is also in the Halls of Learning announcement. So do we keep this info in the EH, Halls of Learning, or both?)

...also, I'm very sorry if any of my rambling doesn't make sense, I'll clarify if you guys need me to. sweatdrop

quick question. I already ran this by miss love but she said i should ask some other mods to make sure soo.... Sould i make a new topic for the finished HM so that no one other than me posts there? also i would like to make the topic so that i have the power to change the title to whatever i need it to say (ex. April issue!!!)

also it may take a while to get everything up there so i need to know as soon as posible!!!
PostPosted: Fri Apr 03, 2009 7:51 pm

I'm not a mod, but I think it would be a good idea to start a new topic for it, so you can post it in the order you would like and change the title. Also the other Hogwarts monthly that has been made recently could just be used for when people have questions, like an office area every one can gather and work on the paper. Then having a different topic to post the paper for everyone to see.

I agree with Love and the_cereal_queen. I have no problem with you posting a new topic for the HM.

That's pretty much how it was done with the old one. The other HM thread you already have could act like the old editor's office.

ok the paper is done and posted!! Enjoy!

Juni, This is probably not what your saying, but...
Are you saying that we should keep rules and guidelines in the subforms. But get rid of things such as the detailed description of teachers in the Halls of Learning , because its in the EH and its already enforced there.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 04, 2009 8:01 pm

I didn't give much of an opinion. I was throwing in the idea to discuss. I want other people's thoughts on the issue.

Should info be displayed in the EH AND the subforum announcements? Or should they be separated? And if separated, is it better off in the subforums or the EH?

Opinion on A. : Errr...yeah I've been meaning to ask what that post was about. I think either Icee or Angil left it there for a reason, but that reason was never relayed to us. But what could provide information about what happens after you graduate Hogwarts. Something like a "Congratulations! You've Graduated Hogwarts...now what?" kind of guide. It would help to keep these members informed and not feel the need to abandon the guild after they've passed 7th year.

Opinion on B : I have to agree with theRestless here. Its convenient for the mods if the rules are repeated in the Entrance Hall for the reasons that we ensure that new members are informed of the rules and that the mods do not get excessive PMs regarding rules already stated in the EH.

Opinion on C : The other guild positions should be posted in the EH. Maybe make a short section on post # 7 of the House Elves and Special Positions in the EH for the other positions?

Ah... I just looked what Juni's alternative of the EH. I agree with 1 & 2. FAQ should definitely be pushed to the bottom of the EH and in need of a serious face-lift. House Points and How to Earn them should be mentioned somewhere in the EH...maybe as a link to the actual info?
>Crew Duties, should go with Guild Ranks.
>Sorting Hat info should be in a link, maybe have a post that says "Links of Interest"? We could add to that post the links to House Points, Teacher Info, House Elf Info...etc.
>I kind of like the Idea to change Student Lists to WWP.

That's all I could think of.
