But at band camp this year I played a grade 7 piece that was really hard. Gah! Anyways pm meh sometime! I was under the impression that grades only went to six for music. o.O;; And that six was like symphony level. That's what our BD taught us, anyway. I spent the night at my friend's house the other night and all we talked about was how band starts in under a month. XD We're such geeks. But we're EXCITED geeks. 3nodding It's my last year, though! ;_; But I have four band classes, so I'm good. ^^ Dunno if I'm gonna do flute for concert season - I really SHOULD, I suppose, but it depends. On a) whether or not I hate the flute section again this year, and b) whether or not we get music with decent flute parts like we did when I was a sophomore. Plus, I have to work up the will to get away from the sax players and our lovely, fun sectionals (and, y'know, that tenor player I'm in love with). Haha.

I remember last year when we warmed up on our scales, we flutes would be so shrill that the BD kind of staggers backwards and tells us to play softer. xD For some reason, I like it when he does that. o0; It amuses me.

I just got my schedule today, and I can't believe it - I'm going back and forth between the band room and my other classes literally all day. Look:
0 - Jazz Band 1 - Wind Ensemble 2 - English 12 3 - Steel Drums 4 - Contemporary Living 5 - Concert Band 6 - 20th Century History
That's going to be a PAIN... especially since ALL my in-between classes are on the opposite side of the school. >.< Hahaha.
Only three more weeks until band. ^^ I'm so excited. Even though I won't be playing my flute for about a month, if I decide to play it....

It is SO fun to play the uber-high notes on piccolo. Just amuses me so when the people around me hold their ears when I do that... I guess... I'm just used to it... >.>

I hate it when people play those super high notes on piccolo! I sat next to a piccolo player last year and it was painful. @__@;; I had to bear with it for a couple months. Tee-hee, but I can do the same to some on flute...but it's much more effective on piccolo.

The players or just the flutes? I think some of the players are. But trombones are better.

I am 100% a band geek. Someone told me a while ago that a guy with a flute is sexier then a guy with a guitar. o.O It was weird. To bad it was a girl XP *is queer* Yeah I play flute. It is fun o mess with the director when we are playing out high notes.

Man...it's fun when no one has ever seen one before, let alone heard one too. They just be like.."O_O OOOOOOOOOOOH!!" It's a good way to get people to shut the hell up too! Pissing people off with it rarely happens with me... crying Grr...

And you're right, a guy with a flute is sexier than a guy with a guitar, or any other instrument for that matter.

Oh, piccolo talk! I <3 my piccolo. I need a new one.. Anyway, I can't get uber high notes out of the damn thing. The highest I can achieve is two B flats above the staff, but I don't know how I can. I think my bottom lip's a bit too big.. I'm getting uber good with keeping it in tune, so I'm starting to play the songs as written instead of an octave lower when I can.

It's so amusing to see flute players who switch off to the piccolo during a song... they have the flute on their lap with the piccolo next to it; it makes you think your flute just gave birth or something... XD (Especially since most people I know attach piccolo case to the flute case. XD)
Plus, when our BD made him own band arrangement of Spongebob Squarepants, the ending notes were split, made for a flute, but he wanted the piccolos to play it (Which sucks, they were an awesome set of ending notes) so when he let them... the sound that the harmony of the divisi part was so horrible, the two players spent hours trying to get it to sound nice. We never played it for a concert, but hearing them pklay those horrid ending notes was just plain funny. XD
