At first, Hades was a little more concerned with trying to free the piece of thread that had been caught around his little tusk than listen to Dante's "advice", but after a few moments, he seemed to become rapt with attention, clapping his tiny hands in excitement. He wasn't entirely sure what the pretty-lady-man was talking about, but he definitely wanted to be his trainer's favourite. He glanced up as his teammate expelled a rather terrifying-amount of fire at the blue and red bird sent out by the other boy - wait, wasn't that pretty birdy on his team, too? The young Pokemon flailed about wildly in Dante's arms as he tried to wrap his young mind around the situation, apparently too young to grasp the concept of 'more than one'.
Keegan, meanwhile, was blissfully ignorant of Dante's subtle attempts at undermining his authority as he was too busy being enamored by Helios' perfectly beautiful Fire Blast. The redhead's eyes were practically sparkling with wonder as he contemplated just how grown up the once-runty little Vulpix had become. Randall, looking the exact opposite of impressed, called fearfully for his Swellow to dodge; voice drowned out by the roar of flames. Keegan was no stranger to just how speedy Swellow were (and he was quite grateful that it was not his Artemis on the receiving end of that), but this bird wasn't quite fast enough, screeching out in absolute agony as the Fire Blast ran it down. The bird's smoldering form hit the wooden floor with a thud before being recalled by its trainer. Randall glanced wordlessly from Keegan to Helios, then back to Keegan again.
"That was fast," the redhead remarked, rubbing his hands together. "Speed Room - such a perfectly fitting name. Can we go?" he asked, prompting a hurried nod from Randall which was quickly followed by a hasty retreat through the door they'd entered in. Keegan, meanwhile, looked forward and frowned when he saw a pair of doors not unlike the ones they'd encountered in the main room. "This gym is weird," he grumbled, deciding to go for the one that was dead ahead of them and he only just saw the words "Defense Room" written on the sign posted above. "C'mon, Dante. It's the speed room, remember?" he called mockingly over his shoulder as he opened the door and stepped into the next room. "Step it up a little, would you?" ===== "My... friends?" Miharu repeated, looking back over at the impressive, red-roofed building. While it was true that she was sure that she couldn't have made it through all of this without Damien and Karrigan helping her, she wasn't quite comfortable calling them friends as of yet. It was also true that she did not want to return home to Johto just now either, as seeing all the familiar towns and places she'd been with her Pokemon would bring back too many painful memories. At the very least, however, she knew she'd have to call home at some point and get in contact with her father. After all, he deserved to know that she was no longer in Johto, at the very least. "I think... I think that would be okay," she said finally, looking up at the professor. Perhaps she could find a way to help out around Juniper's place so she didn't feel like some kind of invader or mooch or something like that. "Thank you, Professor Juniper. You're very kind," the small girl said, giving a slight bow.
Juniper smiled warmly. "It's no trouble at all, Miharu. I will gladly help you in any way I can. However, I don't mean to rush you, but I must return to Nuvema Town as soon as possible. I'm to meet with a pair of new trainers tomorrow morning so that they may pick out their first Pokemon and give them their PokeDexes. Perhaps an experienced trainer such as yourself can offer some advice." She had been expecting the uncomfortable expression that appeared on Miharu's face as she spoke, but she did wouldn't relent. Yes, what she'd been through was horrible, but Juniper wasn't allowed to let the poor girl and her talents for handling Pokemon go to waste, and she was sure that someday, the perpetrator responsible for the girl's attack would be brought to justice. "Shall we?" she asked, already starting to walk back toward the Pokemon Center.
Miharu nodded meekly, quashing down the defiance she felt in the pit of her stomach. She knew that the professor had only good intentions, but that didn't mean she wasn't hesitant. Not usually a clumsy girl, her sandal caught on a slightly-raised plank and she fell quite ungracefully, the sound of tearing fabric causing her to wince. Juniper looked back as the girl pulled herself to her feet, having to hold back a laugh as they both took in the state of Miharu's already-tattered jeans. "Not to impose or anything, but would it be possible to make a side trip to a clothing store before we leave for Nuvema Town?" she asked, having nearly almost laughed herself. It was a start!

Gilgamesh easily dodged the attack as the Nidoran tried to keep up with the speedy water type. However, Kressen knew enough about Nidoran to know using Vice Grip would be a bad idea. The poisons barbs on the pokemon could easily afflict his Krabby with poison losing the match for them. That only left bubble for his offensive move. "Alright then Gilgamesh use Bubble!"
From several meters away the Krabby blasted forth a small flurry of bubbles that zoomed towards the Nidoran. The attack was met by Nidoran charging through them with his horn, popping them before the bubbles impacted his body. Thus the bubble was rendered ineffective much to Kressen's dismay and the student's glee. "It looks like you're going to have to risk getting poisoned if you want to win! Nidoran use peck!"
The Nidoran charged forth once more only to be dodged once again by the Krabby. The kid's right. I'll have to risk it if I want to win. This is going to be a bigger pain than I imagined. Gilgamesh didn't seem as worried though. The king of Krabby simply clicked his claws eagerly awaiting an order from its trainer.

This is bad, Jaeshan thought, wracking his brain for some sort of way to counter the biker's Spiritomb. With Gust as his only option, Sigilyph was likely to fall, and fast, especially with that Ominous Wind, which seemed not only creepy to a fault, but strong, too. The spiky blond glanced over at his partner as her Shinx took out the Stunky and he smiled to himself; this was no time to lose his head. Again he caught sight of the pretty girl with the wavy blue hair, but it helped that she was trying to get his attention. She appeared to be trying to say something to him, but he couldn't quite make out what it was she was trying to get across, especially when Jade's opponent sent out a little hippo-like Pokemon and it summoned a vicious Sandstorm. He shrugged and gave his head a light shake, causing the blue-haired girl to roll her eyes and sigh in frustration. SWITCH OUT she mouthed, pulling a Pokeball from her belt and switching it to another, repeating the process until Jae's wonderfully sluggish brain was able to catch up and figure out what she meant.
"Oh!" he cried, snapping his fingers like he'd just solved a complex equation. The girl was right; Sigilyph couldn't really hurt Spiritomb, so why leave it out here to get smacked around by the strange Pokemon? He did notice that while Spiritomb and Cirrus both seemed to be affected by the Sandstorm, Sigilyph was not; his whole body glowing with a faint shimmer that seemed to keep the sand from even touching him. Gotta look that up, Jaeshan thought as he held up Sigilyph's Pokeball. "Return, Sigilyph! That's enough for now!"
"Oh no you don't!" the biker yelled, pointing at the Avianoid Pokemon. "Spiritomb, Pursuit!" Before the red beam could streak out and envelop Sigilyph, however, a sinister blackness had shot out from the Forbidden Pokemon and struck the Psychic/Flying-type, inflicting heavy damage and causing Sigilyph to fall to the ground, unable to continue battling.
A rare, explicit word passed Jaeshan's lips as he finished recalling his fainted Pokemon, but he didn't appear to be all that embarrassed by his cussing this time as he unhooked Grotle's Pokeball from his belt and hurled it. "Grotle, use Bite!" he commanded, his normally goofy and aloof tone replaced by one that was much edgier and almost scary-sounding in comparison. Grotle, while not immune to the effects of the Sandstorm like his teammate was, shrugged it off and charged full-tilt at his relatively-stationary opponent, opening his mouth wide before he chomped down on the Ghost/Dark-type, causing it to howl out in pain.
=-=-=-=-= Karrigan had been watching Damien as he went through his PokeDex, no doubt looking up the proper item he'd need to evolve his Feebas. He can't possibly be thinking about evolving her already, can he? the redhead mused as they headed outside, and the Snowpoint City native winced under the nearly crushing, muggy heat of Castelia City. She knew that she couldn't tell him what to do with his own Pokemon, though, and for the most part, Damien seemed like a decent-enough trainer; he had earned a gym badge and she hadn't, after all.
"You'll just have to wait and see," the redhead replied with a rare smirk. She didn't have a problem with evolving Aegeus, her Onix, as she and the Rock Snake Pokemon had made that decision a long time ago - before they'd left Sinnoh for the Kanto region, at that. Karrigan also knew that Ikouma was willing (if not quite eager) to evolve as well, but she didn't know about some of her later additions, namely Lennier, Amber and Naga. Her PokeDex had told her quite quickly that Calliope the Tropius would not evolve. After turning the corner from the Pokemon Center, they turned right and started up the street. The piers were to the south and Karrigan could see several ships docked in the harbors. She idly wondered where Miharu had gone as they turned up a street that seemed to be lined with all sorts of shops, including an ice cream shop that must have been very popular judging by the long line of customers. "Casteliacone," she read from the sign out front. "Unova's famous soft-serve ice cream." She looked over at Damien and smiled. "Maybe later, when the line's not so long."
=-=-=-=-= Electrike's squeal of pain echoed throughout the entire gym and Surge frowned, knowing that his Pokemon probably couldn't take too many more hits and that Hitmontop was proving to be a stronger opponent than he'd initially assumed, paralysis and all. Electrike darted back, shaking off the ache in his head and he snarled at Lee, a wave of static electricity rippling across his fur. He threw back his head and loosed a bone-chilling howl, the static on his body flaring up brightly. Surge hooted with laughter and clapped his hands as the little Electric-type then proceeded to more than double in size. The newly-evolved Manectric pawed the ground and snarled at the Hitmontop; he was raring to go even if the hits he'd already taken had weakened him drastically, and both he and Surge knew it wouldn't take much to finish him off. They weren't about to share this information with their challenger, however, and Surge quickly decided on his next command. "Flamethrower!" he shouted, more than certain this move would be unexpected and catch Amy off guard; it wasn't often you saw an Electric-type unleash a Fire-type attack. Manectric took a step forward as his mouth gaped open, expelling a powerful stream of flames at the Hitmontop, hoping to score a little payback for that kick to the head he'd taken.

The Gym trainer may have already realized that Ben's Pokemon were stronger than his, but Falkner had told him not to give up without a good fight. So, gathering himself as much as he could, he called out his next attack. "Pidgey, use Tackle!" As his tiny bird scratched its claws on the floor, getting ready to charge, Ben also called out his move. "Pidgey, you Tackle, too!" Both birds squawking, they took off at a run toward each other, meeting in the middle with a collision that sent the younger Pidgey skidding back a few feet. Ben grinned and nodded. "Good job, Pidgey! Finish it off with another Tackle!" The Gym Trainer looked horrified as Ben's Pidgey charged again, slamming into the weaker bird so that it gave out a weak cry, the other trainer waving his arm emphatically. "Okay, stop! This guy's done," he said quietly, calling back his fallen Pidgey with an almost angered glint in his eyes.
"You may have beaten one of my Pokemon, but let's see you do it again!" he said as he tossed his second Pokemon. Waiting to see what he would be faced with, Ben's expression grew amusedly exasperated at the sight of yet another Pidgey. It seemed like this battle would end up going the same way, from the looks of it. He was a bit surprised at himself for the way he had ruthlessly handled the previous match. That wasn't the way he usually battled, was it? He was a nice guy, really.. But his desire to win was so strong right now, being in a Gym, that he might be letting his strength go to his head. He'd have to be careful about that. He was sure that the Gym Leader wouldn't be beaten so easily.

Amy flinched at the sound of the howl, resisting the urge to shrink back from it. Despite its stature, the Electrike was quite intimidating now; the feeling of dread in the pit of her stomach only worsened when the electricity flared up around it and it began to glow. "Oh no," she breathed, witnessing the Electrike evolve into something larger and certainly scarier. Her large, imposing opponent clapped his hands, grinning widely at his newly evolved... whatever it was. Her Pokedex helpfully informed her that Lee's enemy was now a Manetric. Before she could react appropriately, Surge was ordering his next attack: Flamethrower. "W-what?" the bespectacled girl asked, and then it clicked in her brain. "Lee, get out of there!" But the poor Hitmontop found his muscles locking up once again and the flames were upon him. All Amy could hear was his cry of pain.
She felt herself freezing up, tears springing to her eyes. She shouldn't have done this to him; she wasn't ready yet. The girl wrung her hands in those few seconds, knuckles whitening. Her first instinct was to leave, to immediately quit and take Lee to the Pokecenter. But she was tired of running. She was tired of losing. The girl grit her teeth as the Flamethrower began to die down. "Revenge!" Amy said, raising her voice. "We're not through yet, right, Lee!?" As if to answer her question, the flame-shrouded Pokemon slowly began to spin. The last of the flames were diverted to either side as he approached Manetric, gaining speed and momentum. But before the Electric-type could back away from what seemed to be a straight-forward assault, the Fighting-type volleyed himself into the air. As smoke drifted off his singed body, he arced toward the Discharge Pokemon, eyes promising a world of pain as he swung his leg toward it with as much force as the fatigued, paralyzed Pokemon could muster. From her side of the battlefield, Amy watched with rapt attention. They would finish this battle, one way or another!

Despite all of the sand being blown around stinging her eye, Jade noticed that Jake had begun to switch out his Pokemon before that biker chick had taken out Sigilyph right as it was being returned to its Pokeball. What kinda move is that? she wondered, glancing back to her own battle, where Cirrus waited anxiously for the Hippopotas to return. She wasn't stupid; she knew how Dig worked, but it was impossible to tell when or where the Pokemon would return.
"Keep moving," she instructed the Flash Pokemon, and he actually listened, pacing and pouncing around in an attempt to remain elusive. She didn't plan on using Cirrus for this part of the battle, actually, but she wanted that damn hippo in sight before she brought out her next choice. A few feet away from where Cirrus had just jumped, the ground cracked and both trainer and Pokemon stared intently at it. Clay chuckled, a faint sound that was barely heard over the sandstorm. The raven-haired girl's eyes widened and she looked towards Cirrus, about to yell out when the ground beneath him erupted, leaving him to fall into the maw of the Hippo Pokemon. It crunched down, making the Electric-type cry out sharply. Hippopotas shook Cirrus around a few times before tossing him aside, knocked out. They had fallen right into Clay's trap. "Damn it." She recalled her Shinx before grabbing another Pokeball. "You won't catch us like that again," Jade warned, releasing her next Pokemon. Aquarius stood there, greeted by sandstorms and mean-looking bikers and their large, mean-looking Pokemon. The Water-type whined, holding his head. Couldn't they have just gone on another stroll and fallen into another stream? Surely that would be more fun than this.
"Ya think yer cute little ducky is gonna beat... my... Hippopotas..." Clay trailed off, watching as Jade's "cute little ducky" began to glow, squeezing his eyes shut, and the sandstorm began to subside. Jade was equally surprised, having never seen Aquarius' Cloud Nine ability before, but did her best to look triumphant. "I don't know what the hell ya did, but I'm puttin' a stop to it, girl! Hippopotas, take a big chunk outta that duck!" And the large hippo turned back towards said duck, eyes narrowing and large mouth opening as he charged right for the immobile Aquarius. Despite Jade's calls for him to get out of the way, the duck stood there, eyes still shut, wagging his head back and forth. When they snapped open, they were blue and a small orb of water materialized in front of him. It rocketed for the Ground-type, who continued charging with his mouth wide open. As chance would have it, that's where the orb found itself, and as soon as it hit, it exploded in a large burst of water, knocking the very-much surprised Hippopotas back. Jade blinked in surprise. It seemed Aquarius was full of surprises today, chief among them being his newly-learned Water Pulse attack.

"Lucky me!" Bugsy cheered when he saw Aerosmith show the telltale signs of becoming envenomed. He honestly wasn't expecting it to happen so fast, but then again, this particular Beedrill was always a bit of a go-getter. However, Jett countered with quite an impressive looking attack of his own. It did indeed show the Poison Bee. Despite being quick in the air, the species was very much a fair weather flier, and did not fare well in adverse conditions. Tucking in his wings to avoid any permanent damage, the Beedrill was tossed helplessly through the air and hit the ground with more force than the trainer or Pokemon wanted.
"Get back up and show that Beautifly your Rage face!" It was just an expression of course, Beedrill couldn't emote aside from their oddly luminescent eyes. Regardless, the Pokemon either understood the figurative intent, or just didn't care, and righted himself. His aforementioned eyes glowing blood red, the bee shot into the air and with a high, frenzied buzz, thrust his stinger forward at the pesky butterfly.
------
Mike had stared death in the face twice at this point. Once with a quiet acceptance, and the second with wild, hysterical laughter. Neither of those emotions were present in the boy as he shuddered underneath his umbrella. He tried very hard not to cry out for Kasi's help every few seconds, but in his current state, his bravery faltered more than once. Surrounding him were a crowd of phantoms, who tried in vain to keep the rain away, swiping at it with their intangible, shadowy claws. The chatter between all of them was so loud and cacophonous he didn't make out Kasi's orders to Shocker before the Raichu was released. The flash of light made him yelp, as he thought lightning had just blasted a hole in the ground near him. His guess didn't seem to be too far from the truth considering the Pokemon released. As happy as he was to see the mouse and her protective field, seeing Kasiya run off made his heart sink. "Kasi!" he cried, impulsively reaching out for her. A drop made it through the screen and splashed on his hand. "Agh!" he shrieked. "She hasn't left me! She hasn't left me!" he repeated, his body glowing brighter as his heart picked up speed. "I trust her!" he yelled over the chatter of his phantoms, which now were all screaming in confusion and pain.
The mere minutes that passed where Kasiya was gone felt far longer than any collection of seconds he had ever experienced. Each lightning strike made him quiver, and even though Shocker's Light Screen kept the majority of the rain at bay, some scattered drops did manage to find their way through, along with the mist that accompanied most light rain, and that was all but unavoidable as it wafted through the air. The pain was like thousands of tiny microscopic Silkoon and Cascoon were rolling across his skin.
Suddenly, in what may very well have been hallucinatory wishful thinking on the part of his psyche, the clouds dispersed and the previously warming afternoon sun returned with a vengence: which is an emotion Mike could both respect and admire.
Are we safe? a phantom asked. "I'm not sure." Mike replied, blinking at the sky. He had been tricked by his eyes and mind before, but upon surveying the scene and spotting Kasiya's Meganium, he knew it was no mental illusion.
Of course. Sunny Day. That move that Nitro has. Why didn't we think of that? Pure, frenzied terror toward the situation at hand?
"I t-told you she wouldn't abandon us." Mike stammered. "She always comes though! Always!" Still very shaken up by the whole event, Mike slowly dipped the umbrella down to not get any lingering drops on him and rose to his his feet: albeit weakly. Rosemary was here, but where was Kasi? Leaning to the side, he saw his girlfriend face face down on the ground and immediately rushed over. He fidgeted in place as a wave of emotions rushed through his mind.
The danger is gone, so help her up. Don't be stupid, look at her she's drenched! Who cares? Wrap you shirt around your sleeve. Then what will she wear when she washes her clothes? ...nothing? I fail to see the proble- You're not helping!
"Hey. Thank you, thank you!" he rambled. "I love you, you're the best, and I swear I would help you up and hug you for literally an hour if I could right now but we seem to be in-what can only be described as-an amusing role reversal." His brush with danger hastened his words, which came out mostly jumbled as he tried (and, of course, failed) to make light of the situation and sound coherent at the same time. "You know, where now you're the one rushing into a situation to save the day and end up with a messy wardrobe and I can't touch you because you'll hurt me." His reflection in a nearby puddle caught his attention. The rain, while painful, had blemished his skin in such a manner that it looked like he had freckles. Considering all of the trans-formative effects his new abilities had on his body as of late, this one wasn't so bad. They looked strikingly similar to the kind that Kasiya had, honestly. "All to save your ephelis-coated love." he chuckled at the situation, but the laughter was so pleasant and infectious that he soon lost himself to a fit of giggles.
The people walking by, who saw the situation entirely out of context, must have found Mike to be a tremendous and complete a*****e as he stood over a rain-soaked girl laughing his a** off.
"Shocker, could you please give us a hand?" Mike asked, between giggles.

Lucky you, indeed. The boy said nothing, eyes narrowing at the sight of Aerosmith's dangerously purple hue even as the butterfly executed a Gust attack that hit the Beedrill dead on. Aside from his initial, instinctive worry regarding the poisoning, he was not as distressed as he probably should have been. In fact, Jett looked nigh-stoic as he watched the Butterfly Pokemon's movements, deep in thought. And then his smile returned.
"You know, at the risk of sounding arrogant, I'm really glad this happened, Bugsy," the dark-haired boy said, his voice still polite, the words slipping out without him even thinking. "I wouldn't want this to be too easy of a battle." He redirected his attentions toward the airborne bugs, calling out to Aerosmith in a clear voice. "Dodge. Use Flash!" Aerosmith swerved out of the way of those needles, though remaining close to the Poison Bee, feeling the sting of poison as he moved. And then his entire body glowed, brighter and brighter until the entire arena was filled with wondrous light, making Jett shield his eyes. Even afterward, he was blinking away those annoying spots, but at the very least he didn't have to fly around in this state. What a nuisance that would be.

It wasn't surprising to find that the next room was virtually identical to the last, though instead of Randall, Keegan found himself looking at a girl. She shifted somewhat nervously on her feet but tried to keep a neutral expression, her gaze flickering from the redheaded boy to the Ninetales at his side and then back to the redhead again. "Welcome to the Defense Room," she said, giving a slight nod. "If you want to continue, you'll have to get past me - Alexia!" She looked a little more determined as she released her first Pokemon - Keegan could see a second sphere hanging from her belt. A medium-sized Pokemon appeared in front of her, pink in colour and sporting a pair of long, rabbit-like ears.
Wigglytuff, Keegan thought, resisting the urge to roll his eyes and laugh and instead gave the nod to Helios again. The fox saw nothing amusing about his opponent and quickly stepped up to face the Balloon Pokemon, upper lip curled back in a rare snarl. "Let's make this room a 'Speed Room' too," the redhead chuckled, pointing at the opposing Pokemon. "Helios, Heat Wave." His magnificent tails all seemed to move with minds of their own as he summoned the power for what was easily his trademark move. As the Ninetales exhaled a widespread, scorching hot blast of air, Keegan idly wondered if he'd seen Helios use this move since his evolution or not. Regardless, it was immensely more powerful than it had been when he was a Vulpix and he and the fox tried (with little success) not to smirk like a pair of jackasses as they hoped their pink opponent would be dropped with one attack, just like the last.
As the blistering heat faded, however, the pink Pokemon would prove to be a bit of a nuisance as its green safety barrier faded - a quick use of Protect. Alexia's grin matched the one Keegan had previously been wearing, and she leaned back on her heel. "What, you think it was going to be easy?" she called in a taunting voice. "Wigglytuff, Disable!" The Balloon Pokemon hopped forward, its large blue eyes shining as it stared down Helios. All the Ninetales could do was stare back in confusion, completely unaware of the fact that he could no longer remember how to use his favourite attack. Keegan only shrugged; Helios had plenty of other fire attacks at his disposal. ===== While most people probably would have been amused by Karrigan's response, Damien narrowed his eyes and frowned in annoyance, making it somewhat unclear as to if he didn't quite get it or just didn't appreciate the comment in general. PokeDex still in hand, he silently looked the item up and quickly learned that there were only two Pokemon that could evolve with its use - Onix into Steelix and Scyther into Scizor. Karrigan hadn't mentioned an Onix, but if she'd had a Scyther, it was likely she would have sent it out during their training when they were back on the ship, as for obvious reasons, Onix were not allowed outside of their PokeBalls. Feeling as though he'd solved the mystery (knowing that it would be one of two Pokemon, at the very least) Damien closed the device and returned it to his pocket, looking over as Karrigan pointed out the Casteliacone stand. He didn't return her smile nor did he answer her about coming back later; if the ice cream was 'famous' it was probably horrendously overpriced.
Looking past the redhead, however, he saw the smiling worker dishing out cones to a happy-looking young couple. Nothing about that seemed out of the ordinary, at least until he noticed the grizzled old woman standing behind her. Damien knew almost instantly that she was not of the earthly variety, as not a single person so much as glanced in her direction. Damien pretended not to see her as well, once again cursing his "gift" as they passed by the ice cream shop altogether. They were definitely in the right part of town though, as storefronts lined the busy street seemingly from end to end. It seemed like a wide range of shops had set up business here, as there were cafes and clothing stores as well as stores for trainers and just about anything one could imagine. They even walked by a seemingly random and out-of-place XXX store and Damien was sure to shoot the most judgmental glare he could manage at the shady man exiting with a brown paper bag in hand.
"This sounds promising," the dark-haired youth commented tiredly as he and Karrigan stopped outside of a little shop cleverly dubbed "Evolution Corner". Conveniently enough it was even located on a corner, if one could wrap their minds around that one. Without waiting for an answer from his redheaded companion, Damien entered the shop, glaring up at the tiny brass bell that jingled to signal their entrance into the little store. "Let's make this fast," he grumbled to Karrigan, motioning for them to split up so that they may find their required items faster. ===== After managing to get off the piers without further spills, Miharu followed the rather geographically-minded professor back in the direction of the Pokemon Center, as she seemed to know exactly where to go. Essentially, they unknowingly followed in Karrigan and Damien's footsteps as they turned down the exact same street as the pair of trainers had only a few moments ago. Miharu was a lot less eager to take in the sights of the busy street, as the hustle and bustle of all the people around her was basically an anxiety attack waiting to happen. She walked as close to Juniper as she could without it being super creepy, trying very hard not to think the absolute worst of every person that passed within five feet of her. It also didn't help that the bandage on her head stood out plain as day, and naturally the eyes of every person they passed by stared at it like it were some sort of abomination.
They didn't travel too far up the street before the professor stopped, gesturing with her hand to a rather trendy-looking clothing shop quite obviously aimed for teenagers. "Will this do?" Juniper asked, and Miharu nodded; not necessarily because she agreed with the choice of shops but more because she wanted to get off the street and away from all of those people. The atmosphere inside the store was almost immediately relaxing for Miharu, and though she really didn't need permission, Juniper gave her the go-ahead and the green-haired girl began to browse the aisles.

Train rolled over as she began to wake up, and was surprised when she hit a solid object. A muffled noise of surprise (barely) came out of her, and she cracked her eyes open to see Pikachu curled up on her pillow. She blinked sleepily and stared into his yellow fur for a moment before sitting up, feeling rather decent until the memory of her loss again Misty came back into her mind. She groaned, causing Pikachu to stir. The girl turned her head a little and reached a hand over to pet the electric mouse, who stretched beneath her fingers.
Train raised both arms above her head and stretched, shaking out her shoulders and neck a little before letting her head droop and sighing a little. Pikachu stirred again beside her, now almost fully awake himself.
The dirty-blonde trainer slid out of bed and trudged to the bathroom, grabbing her bag along the way so she could actually do something this time. When she returned, she plopped the bag on the bed and went to pet Pikachu again, but this time (now that he was awake) he moved away from her, giving her a sort of "hmph!" look. Train was slightly surprised at first, but quickly realised why her Pokémon was being a little pouty-face. "Aw, I'm sorry I didn't let you out of your PokéBall last night. But you do seem pretty capable of doing it yourself." Pikachu turned away from her, pointing his tail up in the air, and the girl almost laughed.
"Come on, don't you want breakfast or something?"

Every time a head turned in her direction Riza felt a little better, even if it was the shallow kind but right now she was willing to take anything she could. She avoided the elevator and took the stairs to the floor that sold TMs and just like she expected, the selection here at the Celadon department store was a lot more impressive. She really had only two moves in mind, and she was able to find them quite easily, Attract for Selena and Thunderbolt for Faustus to complete his fire/ice/lighting triad of attacks. That and she knew it would make the Dragonair quite versatile in both contests and battles. Deciding then that she'd spent enough money for one day she pocketed her purchases and headed out.
Riza headed right back to the pokecenter, going inside long enough to get herself a room for the night and drop off all of her things except for her pokedex, poke balls and new tms. She went right back outside to the battle area where she'd previously met with Crenu's team and let all of her Pokemon out of their poke balls. She gave Thunderbolt to Faustus and Attract to Selena before starting the whole team, Diemia and Eris included, in working on new contest moves and combinations she'd been thinking of. She may not have known when the next contest was or where it would be, but that didn't mean that she wouldn't be ready for it when she found out. 'That second ribbon is as good as mine,' she thought as she watched Diemia use Protect to shield herself from Faustus' newly learned Thunderbolt. It seemed that her temporary goal of winning the first Kanto region badge in Pewter City was long forgotten, at least for now. * * * * * Autumn had been kind enough to heal up Katie's three fainted Pokemon before the orange haired girl continued on her way to Veilstone City, and they all had a good, late lunch as well. The owner of the milk cafe had told her that if she hurried, Katie had a slight chance of it there by nightfall. Though she'd really rather not spend the night camping out, Katie decided that rushing probably wasn't her best option. She had her Pokemon, after all, so she'd be just fine regardless of how far they made it.
'It'll be so much easier once we've been everywhere and we can just fly from place to place,' Katie thought, patting Noa's poke ball fondly as she walked along. She'd never doubt that her Staravia would want to go on and evolve to the next stage, especially so long as she had Genki to spur their rivalry. The two Pokemon would do anything to one-up the other, and Katie sure evolving into Staraptor and Infernape just to try to get the better of the other wasn't too far off for either of the Pokemon.
Thinking of her first Pokemon and friend, Katie released the ever energetic and playful Monferno. "Keep me company, okay Genki?" she asked and the fire-type nodded eagerly as the two started to make their way through Route 215. Katie could see that this route was going to be interesting, filled with ledges and hills and....were those tiny bridges connecting some of the steeper hills? "This'll be... interesting," Katie mumbled, her pace slowing a bit. Genki wasn't at all daunted by the obstacles before them and he ran ahead, jumping up a ledge and scampering up the hill until he had perched himself on the center of the bridge. "Show off," the girl laughed, running to catch up with her playful Pokemon.

Ben didn't want to hurt the other Trainer's Pokemon, but he also wanted to hurry up and get to Falkner. So, trying to end it as fast as possible, he called out his first move. "Pidgey, Tackle!" The bird flew up and hovered a moment before swooping into a full body tackle, the foe's Pidgey squawking and being knocked back a bit before regaining its footing. "Pidgey, you use Tackle, too!" the Gym Trainer called out, Ben watching as the other bird scratched the floor with its claws and ran forward with surprising speed before tumbling into Ben's Pokemon. 'This Pidgey is a lot like the last one,' Ben thought, observing his opponent quietly. 'But it's a little faster.' He'd have to try and avoid that.

"Use your Gust Attack!" Pidgey stood back to start flapping his wings powerfully, sending a strong gust of wind out at the foe trainer and Pokemon. Ben watched as the Pidgey hunkered down against the wind, and wasn't tossed up like the last bird had been. Maybe it was smarter? Just then, the trainer was calling out for another Tackle, and the bird was charging again, so Ben leapt into quick action. "Pidgey, fly up and dodge it, then Tackle!" He watched with confidence as his Pidgey quickly flapped his wings and left the running Pidgey in the dust before quickly veering down and slamming into it. The Gym Trainer was looking kind of peeved. "Pidgey, you try doing that! Get up in the air!" The younger Pidgey looked at its trainer a bit skeptically before flapping its wings and teetering into the air, trying to propel itself forward to tackle Ben's bird in the sky. It was kind of amusing to watch since the Pidgey's wings hadn't acquired the same strength as Ben's, who had already mastered his Gust Attack. "Tackle it out of the air!" Ben called, his Pidgey chirping and diving in toward his foe again, slamming into it and sending it falling to the ground, too weak to continue.
"Darn it!" the Trainer yelled as he reluctantly withdrew his Pokemon and sighed. "I guess you are good enough to face Falkner.." Smiling, Ben walked forward and gripped the boy's shoulder reassuringly. "It's okay, I had fun. It was a good match." Once he'd left the boy, there was only one more place to go - and his sights were set on the blue haired Gym Leader who was standing right in front of him.

Bugsy raised an eyebrow as Jett started talking, wondering why he would wish an ailment on his Pokemon willingly. Oh, he was being cocky. "Oh we wouldn't want that, now would we?" he replied, playfully. If there was one thing the gym leader knew all about, it was disappointing battles. Once again he had to fight the urge (fueled more by pure competitive desire than any soured feelings towards his challenger) to send out his prize Heracross and have him suplex this Beautifly into the dirt. But that would have to wait. Maybe he could swing over to Unova and stomp some trainers in the World Tournament later in the day.
Jett's order for a Flash came as a bit of a surprise, honestly. Bugsy wasn't sure why he was stalling when his Pokemon was already poisoned. More than likely he had a stronger Pokemon waiting after this Beautifly. The gym leader threw his arm up over his eyes to shield himself, but sadly his Pokemon was not so well-equipped. The Beedrill tried to do a similar gesture, but his spear-like hands were too long and thin to cover his large, compound eyes. After the light went off, the now blinded bee flew around wildly, swinging at whatever he felt was making enough sound to be the flapping wings of his opponent. He did a decent job of trimming the nearby treeline, but that was it. Normally, Bugsy would recall such a debilitated Pokemon, but with Aerosmith being poisoned and already weakened, he figured he would let his frothing Beedrill fly around a bit more.

Sasha flicked a stray hair back in its place and made her way over to where Isaiah and his squad were standing. Oh man. This was happening! This was really happening! He was finally going to get the hottest girl in the city's number! YES! The complete and utter jubilation that broiled underneath that shining, hairless dome made its way to the surface in the smug, dumb smile plastered across the biker's face.
Paying little attention to the cue ball's unbridled exhilaration, Sasha pulled out a small scrap of paper and scribbled down her ten digits (her real ones, too. He was lucky) and handed it to Isaiah. As he reached for it, she pulled it back, flicking her eyes to the beret still in his hands. "Oh, right, of course!" While it wasn't necessarily a part of the agreement to return the hat to her if she lost, he knew that if he were to pull such a technicality, not only would Sasha refuse to give him her number, but she would probably stick those heeled, extremely sexy boots holy crap, right where the sun don't shine.
"Merci." Sasha said simply, pulling the beret over her head and flicking her bangs to the side. Once the proper look had been reestablished, she returned attention to Isaiah. Her expression relaxed when she saw the look of genuine happiness curling the cue ball's lips. "Surprise me." she said finally, which caused the biker to sputter a bit.
"But-I don't even know what you like to do!" he replied, nervously.
"Looks like you'll find out, oui?" she rang out, turning on her heel and skipping away. What good was this whole situation if she couldn't make him sweat a bit about it? "It's been a pleasure as always. I would love to stay and chat some more, but sadly I have a photo shoot I simply cannot mee's!"
"...can I tag along?" the biker called back cupping his hands to his mouth as the pink-haired girl began to disappear from view.
"Au revoir, Isaiah!"
All in all, Isaiah wasn't such a bad guy at his core. She had definitely given her number to worse people.

Growling Kressen let go of the defensive game plan. They just had to beat it before, the possible poison took effect. Simple enough right? Alright then Gilgamesh use Vice Grip!" Still light on his several feet Gilgamesh rushed forward his claw raised and ready to deliver a crushing blow to the Nidoran.
The student thought differently however. "Use peck to counter!" The Nidoran rushed towards Gilgamesh and the collided. The Nidoran's poisonous horn struck a little to the right of Gilgamesh's mouth, but the Krabby's claw would clamp down just behind its neck. It wasn't ideal, but it would have to do. Gilgamesh looked a little green as it held on tightly to the now struggling Nidoran.
"Now use bubble point blank and don't let go!" The student's eyes widened as Krabby let barrage after barrage of bubbles into the face of the Nidoran. It struggled harder, but the king wouldn't let up his grip and soon the student decided the battle was lost. "Nidoran return...I've never seen anyone try a combo like that. I'll have to write it down in my notes. It was fun though, oh. Can I ask you a favor though, I know you must be tired, but can you battle our friend Sara? She just got her new pokemon the other day, and she doesn't really know how to battle."
Kressen recalled the Krabby and smiled. "Thanks for the battle and sure. I've got time for one more. Bring her here and I'd love to have one last battle before I visit nurse Joy again."

Only after hearing Bugsy's response did he realize how overconfident he was being -- granted, it was justified, he was not worried about the outcome of the battle, but the way he had spoken without thinking slightly troubled him. Thankfully, the gym leader took no offense, but an all-too familiar guilt began to bubble in his chest. Was that an okay thing to say? Some small part of him knew to let it go, or at least leave the question for later. Right now, he had to put all of his focus into the battle. Perhaps that's what he had been doing; his outburst might have been a surge of competitiveness. That was it. He was just egging Bugsy on, was all. He didn't want the Bug-type leader to let up now. He wanted to prove himself.
"Aerosmith, hang in there," he called to the butterfly, who watched in slightly subdued amusement as Beedrill buzzed around, blindly swinging his stingers. The poisoning must be taking a toll -- the damage was now apparent in the Beautifly's labored breathing and his apparent struggle to remain airborne. His time would be up soon, and then it would be Athena's turn. "Use Gust, again." Sticking with what worked (rather, his only effective attack, as Grass-type attacks would be of no use), Aerosmith kicked up another burst of wind, aiming right for the blinded bee. Jett watched eagerly, wondering what his opponent's next Pokemon might be. Would it be a Butterfree, to match his Beedrill? Oh, Aerosmith would just get a real kick out of that one. Or maybe not. He was hard to predict.
