To what must have been a surprise to Nina, the boy did not move out of the way of the churning ball of fire that ripped through the air towards him. He merely held his arms out to the side and let it come at him. With a mighty roar the fire rushed over him, incinerating his shirt. Oddly enough (once again, to Nina), the boy remained completely unmarred by the scorching heat; no burn marks, no burnt hair. A low chuckle pushed its way out before he took in a deep breath and expelled a stream of fire from his mouth. He felt a little dizzy, but shook it off, throwing another fireball at he girl's legs in hopes to throw her off guard.
Make sure you block high!
Block and burn to a crisp!
Burn to ashes. Burn to ashes. Burn to ashes. Burn to ashes.

Hmm... I should have foreseen that, Nina thought, watching as the fire washed over Mike, the boy brushing it off as if it were nothing. If what Anna said is true, and Mike does somehow have the fire of Moltres in him, then his own fire attacks wouldn't harm him. It's not like he has those gloves anymore that could hurt anyone; no. This fire is inside of him, as blood is inside of me. This means I can't hurt him... so I'll have to keep myself defended.
As she processed those thoughts, more fire was expelled in her direction; a stream from Mike's mouth, and a fireball that was directed to her legs. Without even giving a second thought-- or, a first thought, truthfully-- Nina quickly dove and rolled out of the way of the attacks. She landed on her left hand in a rather uncomfortable position, but she quickly rose to her feet, ignoring the dull soreness that was developing, muttering an obscenity in the process. She kept a watchful eye on Mike; How can I debilitate him? she thought. What can I... Cutting herself off mid-thought, she devised a plan, one that she might regret. She took a very deep breath, bracing herself for the headaches that were certain to come, and she locked eyes with her friend.
My, my. It's rather crowded in here, isn't it? Nina thought-spoke to Mike, getting back inside of his mind.
Oh well, I don't mind cramped quarters. I'll find a nice little place in here all for myself. Won't you like that, Mike? Won't you like me here? I'll be your best friend forever.

"All right, its down to you two." Tony stared looking down at both Robin and Luffy. The two of them were going to be trouble and he had to split them up. "I know you are going to want to spend time watching your pokemon train but it is important that we train you as well Robin. You see pokemon are only as strong as their trainer and if they are with a trainer who is strong in mind, body, and spirit then they will be a hundred times better. So I am going to have your Ambipom train with my Lucario. Your pokemon seems pretty strong but he needs a lot of practice and he needs to learn how to control his wild energy."
Robin wasn't to sure about what he was saying about Luffy, you couldn't really train him, you just had to try to take control of the situations he flung you into. Robin didn't really mind even if it did get her into a lot of trouble at times ie. the cruise ship. "I dunno, I like Luffy the way he is."
'Hmm, maybe he was approaching this from the wrong angle. Robin clearly loved her Ambipom and didn't seem to mind him getting into all sorts of trouble. The pokemon had a good heart and really didn't do any of the things he did to be mean. Maybe they should train in a different way. "All right, Luffy seems to get you into a lot of trouble from what I heard over dinner. I was hoping that you would want to fix that a little but if you are happy then that's fine. So how about this, Lucario is going to teach Luffy to be strong enough to protect his friends from all the trouble he might get you all in."
Luffy liked that idea and it seemed pretty good to Robin. "All right, what good is strength if you have nothing to do with it right? Protecting our friends is the best thing I can think of." Robin grinned and patted Luffy on the back shoving him forward. "Get on going and get strong so you can protect all of us!" Luffy nodded and hopped over to the side where he grinned up at Tony as he released his Lucario.
The Aura pokemon looked down at the Ambipom before glancing at Tony. It didn't even take any explanation between Tony and the powerful looking Lucario for it to know what to do. The fighting steel type motioned for Luffy to follow him so that they could begin their training.
"That just leaves us. Don't think for a second that you are going to have an easy time with this. I am going to be just as hard on you as my pokemon are going to be on your friends." Tony warned a serious look on his face.
"I get that. I wouldn't have it any other way. My pokemon are training so that they can be their best its only fair if I do the same thing." Robin nodded crossing her arms over her chest.
"All right then! First thing you need to do then is go change into some training clothes." Tony grinned and unslung the backpack that Robin hadn't noticed before. Pulling out a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt with a strange sort of logo on the back. "All right, here is your uniform. From today onward you are a member of the Tony Tony Training School! Now go change."
"Yes sir!" Robin grinned as she saluted once before grabbing the clothes and heading off towards the bathroom.

Kasiya looked over at Mitsu and smiled. "Yeah, you're right. We should do that." Her mind had begun to race when Mitsu mentioned that Kilik had run off to go play hero and train, and though she wasn't much for the heroics she could understand the need to train. After all, that little Chimchar he'd picked up had a lot of work ahead of him if he wanted to be on par with Kilik's other Pokemon, like Aggron or even Cable. "Don't worry, Mitsu," she said reassuringly. "You know how boys are. They all seem to think they've got something to prove. But, sooner or later, they'll come around and realize what's important - us." She winked at her friend and looked over at Sirrus, who by now had almost completely buried himself in the sand. Only the end of his fan-like tail was visible now, and Kasiya suspected that the Flygon was sleeping. With a giggle she called him back to his Pokeball. "Perhaps we should go to the Pokemon Center at some point too, that way I can figure out what to do with this guy. I can't have seven Pokemon with me."
=-=-=-=-= It was plain to see that neither Blaziken nor Shelgon had any issues with training against each other, and within no time at all they'd squared off with each other. It wasn't the first time the two Pokemon had a training match, but it was the first time that the two would be somewhat on par with each other. The last time they'd sparred, Blaziken was still a Combusken, and quite a ways behind the dragon. Shelgon chose to lead off with her Dragon Dance, as always, and Blaziken began with Focus Energy. Their eyes met as they psyched themselves up, both knowing this was going to be good.
At first, Jaeshan had intended to instruct both the Pokemon, but he decided against it, and instead told them to have at it themselves. He knew he could trust the two Pokemon to not kill each other, but he wasn't sure either of them would know when to give up so he made a mental note to keep an eye on them as he gave the two larger Pokemon some space. He soon found another area close by that would be good for battling, and he released both Squirtle and Beedrill. The two junior Pokemon on his team looked at him before looking at the two larger Pokemon that had started to battle, and then at each other. Both knew what was gonna happen now, and they each took up a position - Beedrill offensive, and Squirtle defensive.
Beedrill was given the command for a Fury Attack, but Squirtle didn't receive an order. The turtle Pokemon's eyes went wide as the bee Pokemon was suddenly speeding towards him, and he did the first thing that came to mind, which was withdrawing into his hard shell. He felt the impact of Beedrill slamming into him and he went bouncing along the ground. Beedrill, meanwhile had been a bit rattled after his attack had failed, but there was no way he was giving up so soon.

Junko's eyes became wide when the boy quickly flashed the badge at her. "Wow! An officer?!" she exclaimed, "But you don't look like a normal policeman. Are you undercover?!" The girl realized that her voice was a bit booming and she quieted herself by quickly covering her mouth with her hands. "But you look too young..." she continued, assuming that he wasn't even more than a year older than herself from the way he looked.
"I am a trainer, but I just started earlier today." a helpless rock found its way into her line of vision and the purple haired girl propelled it across the side walk with the Converse covering her right foot. It made a few ping sounds as it bounced off the side of a nearby fence. "I did manage to catch a Tentacool already." she announced proudly. Suddenly her chin began to hurt again as the girl recalled the events of the day. Junko brought her hand to the bandage to assure that it was still doing its duty of protecting her wound.
Hades hadn't really been paying attention to the two humans as they chit chatted, he wasn't even sure what it was they were talking about anymore. The specter began to take notice of the happenings around him. People all over were keeping a great distance from the trainers and their two ghosts. Some gasping and darting off when the Pokemon came into their sight, a few little kids started to cry and hide behind their mothers, he could even swear he heard some guy mutter, 'should keep those things in their balls' as he hurried by, giving the oblivious trainers the evil eye. Alone, the Duskull didn't really frighten people much. He wasn't very big and didn't really go out of his way to scare people. It probably also didn't help that he resided in Ecruteak, where the Gym Leader was a Ghost Type trainer, so people were pretty used to specters and the such hanging around. This Banette however, Hades could tell that he was a seasoned terrorizer. The puppet didn't even have to lift a finger to get people to turn tail and run, people were frightened just seeing him walk down the street. The Requiem Pokemon chuckled to himself as that silly red tongue hung from under his mask. He really enjoyed the company of this guy. Maz's Banette wasn't anything like the one he grew up around. Jupiter, on the contrast, was very friendly and like to help the people around him. The Pokemon did his best to look as non-threatening as possible, as much as a Banette could. This of course was much to Junko's mother's dismay as she prided herself on being such a small and delicate, perfectly harmless looking young woman-she was only thirty-two, and even then often got mistaken as the twins' older sister-who trained the most sinister and frightening Pokemon out there.
~~~~ Jomei, Pizza, and the egg continued their trek though the woods as they headed toward the city. He could tell they were becoming close as the sounds of civilization began to resonate off the trees in the distance. Places he had passed earlier in his trip, when he was going the opposite direction, started to become more and more familiar. He sighed in relief as he recognized the sights around him. The boy took in a deep breath of fresh air, as he knew the substance would be hard to come by after crossing over the threshold into the city. Jomei looked to his partner and revealed that he was quite hungry, seemingly forgetting the time they dined in the city right before leaving. Food, however, was one of his favorite things and he couldn't go too long without it. The boy appreciated that his metabolism was so high. Although, it wasn't like he was lazy or anything. He was quite an active person actually, as he and Pizza used to run laps around the gym in his hometown. Not inside the gym, mind you, but the outside. Falling through floors was not something the young boy and his cyndaquil were very fond of.
"First thing we're doing when we get to Goldenrod is finding something to eat." he told the Fire Type following next to him. "Man, I love Pizza" he began, "Pizza is my most favorite thing in the world."
The Cyndaquil scowled when he realized that the boy was actually referring to the food and not his partner. He watched his trainer stare blankly into nothingness as he recalled the greasy item in his mind. He sighed. The Fire Mouse could let it slide this time, as he was quite hungry and quite fond of Pizza himself.
"......."
Jomei stopped suddenly when he thought he heard a noise in the distance.
"H..o ...co.....d ....hel...."
Not just a noise, but a voice! And not just any voice, he was pretty certain it was that of a female's! The purple haired boy whipped his body around as fast as he could to face the heavenly melody. "Hello?!" he called in response, cupping one free hand around his mouth. The dot in the distance began to form into a cute young girl. She had mid-length brown hair, and wore a cute orange sun dress. The boy's jaw dropped as the adorable figure came closer. Beautiful girls were just coming out of the woodworks today! Literally.
"Hello there!" she spoke again finally when she was sure that the boy could fully hear her. She raised her right hand above her head and waved to him. He raised his one free hand in return, still clutching the egg tightly.
"Um, hi..." Jomei began, blushing at the sight of the girl as she came close enough to for him to be able to admire all of her beautiful features. Her eyes were the most gorgeous shade of baby blue, and her hair was in perfect place as it shimmered in the scarce light that found its way though the cluster of trees above them. And when she smiled-it was like heaven itself was shining a cosmic ray of light that was meant to only lay upon him. The woman who had bestowed the unborn upon him before instantly evaporated from his mind. What was her name even again? Eve or something? Who knows. She wasn't this celestial being that stood before him now. "Do you need help? Are you lost?!"
Aggron's tail went up and crashed into the dirt behind him, forming a tail-shaped crater. It was nice to finally get out and show off his power, despite the fact he couldn't actually hurt his opponents. Wasting no time, he went after Chimchar with a Dragon Claw attack, yet the result was the same: just his fist down in the dirt. Chimchar gulped and ran over to one of the sand dunes, jumping inside to hide and figure out a strategy. Kilik wasn't calling for any orders it seemed, and he was going to have to figure this out all by himself. He couldn't even begin to figure out an attack that would even scratch that big brute! He snapped his little fingers then jumped out of the sand dune, running towards the giant before jumping into the air. As he came back down with his foot foward, he initiated a Blaze Kick! "Chiiii--CHAAAAA!" he foot slammed into Aggron's cheek and a surge of pain went through the small ape's body
Kilik winced. That attack hurt Chimchar more than Aggron. It seemed to him that Aggron didn't even feel it. Kilik laughed and scratched the back of his head. Perhaps sending Chimchar out to battle alone wasn't such a good idea. "Hey Chimchar!" Kilik called out, "Use Brick Break! It's the strongest move you have against Aggron." Then again, being the strongest move on a Level 7 Chimchar against such a powerful opponent was like using a flamethrower in a swimming pool - it'd be pointless. Chimchar landed back on the ground but he wasn't there long. In the blink of an eye, he was back in the air, swinging his fist up to slam a Brick Break attack directly to the Aggron's chin. Bulls-eye! Aggron stomped back, rubbing his chin. That may have been an extremely effective attack, but it barely did anything to him. Coming from a higher level Pokemon, he might've actually been afraid to be hit by it. That Chimchar did show promise, though. Deep in his primitive brain, something was turning. He was getting bored fighting such weak opponents to just train with Kilik. When was an actual foe going to show up? Kilik let out a low whistle. At least Chimchar had impressive form. The chimp put as much power behind that strike as he could, too.
He sat down on the grass and watched as Aggron and Chimchar continued to battle. Rather, watch Chimchar hop around and continue to attack with Brick Break while Aggron stomped and roared as he truly had nothing better to do. He wondered what it would be like if he could take his younger Pokemon to Koga to train with the ninja master. It probably would have been another three days of 'Be one with your Pokemon', which Kilik had down to an art. At least he thought he did. There were still a few things he didn't quite understand about what Koga was teaching him, but he figured that these things would come to light when the time was right. He looked up at Drifloon, who was aimlessly playing with his tassles. The balloon hovered over to Kilik's shoulder and wrapped its strings around Treecko and lifted her up into the air. She let out a squeak and began to flail around, grabbing onto Kilik's sleeve to keep herself from leaving. "Whoa, hey!" Kilik laughed, pulling her free from Drifloon's grip. "Don't steal your teammates Drifloon." An idea then clicked in his head.
"Why take turns with Aggron?" He stood up, "Treecko, you and Drifloon are gonna battle! I'll issue both of you commands. Chimchar! Aggron!" he turned his attention to the two battling off a few feet away, "Keep doin' what you're doin'!" Kilik clenched his fists. Training was gonna fly by!
-*-
Mazarin chuckled when Junko was so absolutely amazed by his badge. As they turned a street corner, headed towards the Pokemon Center, he cleared his throat. "You could say," he replied, "Our whole organization acts undercover. Heck, even that guy!" He pointed to a random schmoe on the street, "Or her!" Another elderly woman that jumped slightly when Maz pointed at her. "Anyone you meet could be part of us. Buuuuut," he rolled his head and shrugged, "I probably said too much and I could likely jeopardize my cover." He leaned in and whispered to her, "But you're cute, so maybe they'll let it slide."
He listened to her talk about her day, nodding attentively. "A Tentacool, huh? Those things are aaaall over Hoenn. One almost got in the way when I was catching my Carvanha." He could remember the day quite clearly - there he was, near Mauville, fishing to find a new Pokemon to take with him. As soon as he pulled up Carvanah and began to battle it with his then-Nuzleaf, a Tentacool popped out of the water and began to hassle him. Well, being as rough and tough as he was, Carvanah wouldn't have any of it! He knocked that Tentacool out and nearly beat Nuzleaf. But the combo was too much for him and he was eventually captured, evolving into the Sharpedo everyone knew and loathed today. "I bet yours will grow up big and strong and tentacly!"
Banette froze in place as the man ran by who mentioned keeping them in their balls. Just because they were ghosts...just because they were scary...They were still Pokemon! Frowning, he turned and grabbed Hades' ghostly hand and pulled him along. I can find Mazzzz very easily, he told him, ssssso don't worry about losing them. He floated along silently behind the man, then turned to Hades. When I sssscare him, he'll likely turn around. Be on the other sssside and ready to make him pee himself. He giggled a muffled giggle, then, using his long appendage that dangled from his head, he tapped the man on the shoulder. As soon as he turned around, Banette unzipped his mouth and a shadow that reflected the man emerged. "Why doooon't you keep them in their baaaalls?" the spectre cried, running a shadowy hand down his namesake's face, "Weeee're Pokemon too and should go as freely as we waaaant." The man changed into another shadow, one without too much detail and screamed at him. The man fell on the ground, gulping and turning around (at which point Banette zipped up his mouth again), coming face to face with Hades. Sssshow me what you got, Hadeeees
"Good job, Squirtle!" Jaeshan cheered after witnessing Squirtle's well-timed Withdraw, and he had to chuckle at Beedrill's annoyance though the Bug and Poison-type was quick to recover, and he spun around, diving at Squirtle with both stingers extended. Hey, I think that's Twineedle, Jaeshan thought as he watched Beedrill's movements, and sure enough, as he got close to Squirtle he struck out with both stingers, twice in a row. Squirtle had poked his head out of his shell to see what was going on and let out a cry as he was knocked back again, landing hard on his belly. The turtle Pokemon recovered quickly, however, and he suddenly shot forward with a powerful blast of water, withdrawing into his shell as it impacted with Beedrill's abdomen. Nice use of Aqua Jet, Jaeshan thought as he looked over at the two more experienced Pokemon.
Neither Blaziken nor Shelgon had moved since using their Focus Energy and Dragon Dance techniques respectively, and the two were currently busy giving each other the stare down. Jaeshan wasn't sure why neither of them were attacking just yet, though he quickly realized they were attempting to psych each other out and goad the other one into making the first move. If I know Blaziken, she'll crack first, the blonde trainer thought, looking over at Squirtle and Beedrill as the latter buzzed out of the way of an oncoming Water Gun - it seemed Squirtle was becoming more comfortable with going on the offensive. Jaeshan's assumption that Blaziken would attack first was right on the money, as suddenly the dual Fire/Fighting-type had sped forward, her right leg wreathed in flames. She jumped up high and did a flip, coming down with her leg for a frightening Blaze Kick, and Jaeshan wondered how Shelgon would deal with this. Even with her speed boosted from a single Dragon Dance, she couldn't outrun Blaziken.
Shelgon had no intention of trying to dodge or move even in the slightest as she watched her younger teammate move in for the attack, and she waited for the perfect opportunity before initiating a Protect. The glowing green barrier shot up and encompassed the Endurance Pokemon completely, and Jaeshan was sure she was laughing as Blaziken's flaming appendage slammed down on the shield and practically bounced right off, though she did recover nicely and land on her feet, and she glared at Shelgon, not at all impressed by the fact that the dragon had made her look foolish.
The boy's laughter stopped abruptly when he was overcome by a wave of new voices. One more was easily identifiable, easily traced, easily removed, but all these? It was too much. He couldn't think! He couldn't breathe! He grabbed the sides of his head and screamed, flames pouring out of his mouth as he cried out in pain.
This doesn't hurt us! the deceitful one cried out. We've dealt with much worse!
It's killing me! How can I deal with this?! the truthful one shrieked.
Unjust pain. Unjust pain. Unjust pain. Unjust pain. Unjust pain. the repeater droned.
Mike threw his hands out as his body contorted and lurched in pain. He screamed, his body radiating a heat so intense it distorted the air around him. "It's tearing my self-my feelings-my reality, don't let me turn out like-what you don't want me to-all I need is just a-HOW CAN I-laugh-WHEN MY WORLD IS-crumbling down upon me like-DOMINOES." Mike threw himself to the floor and convulsed, black smoke rising from his flailing body. Sparks flew from his body as his skin brushed up against the rock. "get-iaout. Get out-OUT-get...my head my head-why must I continue to suff-ER-I just want...be-WITH the one I-love."
Mitsu laughed. Sure, sure boys were like that. Though, for some reason, she felt like she couldn't really take those words to heart. She always felt like she had to prove that she was as important as Kasiya was making her seem. Or maybe it was just her mixing up her feelings. Maybe it was just that she felt like she had to prove her strength to everyone, especially the boys.
"Then let's go to the Pokemon Center!" Mitsu replied one the blond had brought up the familiar building. She had no real need to go there herself, though she did want to stick around with her friend. It had been far too long since she'd traveled with Kasiya. I miss those days back when we just met and the only Pokemon we had was my Ralts and her Eevee. It was so much simpler back then.
She sung her legs back and forth until she was high in the air. In one swift movement she let go of the chains and flew from the swing at the highest point. In reality she only soared for a few seconds before she landed back in the sand, feet first. "To the Pokemon Center!"
Both Miharu and Eve recalled their fallen Pokemon, neither able to believe they'd knocked each other out. Eve looked especially disappointed seeing as how her Eevee had finally evolved, and she hoped her Umbreon would be able to bring down the Bulbasaur, which was just coming to the end of her time being confused. "Bulbaa!" Lily cried, as one last vine cracked across her forehead and she blinked a few times, suddenly seeing and hearing clearly again. She heard Miharu call for her to use a Leech Seed, and though it sounded like a very good idea, the word 'seed' suddenly seemed to trigger something in the back of her mind. She took a step forward, positioning herself so that her bulb was pointed towards the Umbreon. She fired off three seeds, but these were much larger than her normal Leech Seeds. They arched up in the air before raining down on the Umbreon and exploding on contact.
"What on earth was that?" Eve cried as her Umbreon staggered to its feel, visibly shaken by the exploding seeds. "That was the deadliest Leech Seed I've ever seen!"
"I'm not sure," Miharu answered, just as surprised as Eve. She'd already taken her PokeDex out of her bag, but decided against looking the move up just yet. "Whatever it was, it was awesome!" Lily seemed to agree with her trainer and let out a loud cry as Eve set her Umbreon on the attack again, this time with what looked like a Tackle. The Bulbasaur lowered herself to the ground and growled, the bulb on her back starting to glow as a storm of pink blossoms erupted from the small opening. The glow quickly encompassed the rest of the grass type's body as the green leaves on her back folded down to reveal a gorgeous red flower bud as the rest of her body started to grow as well. The flurry of petals continued even as the light dimmed down, and Miharu let out a squeal of delight when she saw that her little diva had evolved into an Ivysaur, though Lily herself had yet to realize the change had occurred.
"Oui!" the girl replied in agreement, imagining an adorable litter of Vulpix running around. They could stay at the manor, and she could have her father make a special pen, and Helios and Kitsune could stay there together and-Ooh! It was too cute to think about! Sasha pressed her lips together and let out a muffled squeal. She looked over to see if Keegan had noticed her little fit, but he wasn't there.
"Huh?" She turned around to see Keegan and Helios share a cute little moment. It was so unlike the Keegan she first met, and the one that everyone seemed to think he was. "From how you treat your Pokemon, people might get the wrong impression from you." She added a giggle as the Ninetales nuzzled his trainer. "C'est tellement mignon." She gave her own Ninetales a scratch behind the ears as she watched Keegan. There was so much to this boy that intrigued her. She wanted to ask him so many questions.
Sasha waited for the boy to catch up, smiling sweetly when he did. "Et nous voilà partis!" The two headed off into the city towards the Pokemon Center. "So," Sasha began, linking arms with Keegan again. "What was it like growing up in Lavaridge? I only stopped by to grab my badge, but it was so quiet and pretty. I'd love to hear about it."
------
It was a brief, quiet flight over Sinnoh to reach Jubilife. As Ronald had mentioned earlier, his chopper was one of the fastest ways to travel. Blaine had spent the short flight checking up on his email. One particular one caught his eye. "Hm. It appears that the Saffron Gym has had its title removed. I bet that young boy at the Fighting Dojo is happy about that." The man rubbed his head in contemplation. "I wonder whatever happened to that girl that took over. What was her name? Nancy? And whatever happened to Sabrina?" The psychic was always a bit of a lone wolf. The higher-ups were always frustrated by her ability to abscond for weeks at a time with little to no warning, leaving those who wanted to challenge her at the mercy of her non-existent schedule. "Kids." Blaine said with a huff. He had his entire hotel and Gym rigged with cameras to spot potential challengers (or patrons) and tried his best to be as accommodating as possible to his guests. Well, those that were able to solve his riddles that is. He couldn't give out his badges with only a battle! For trainers at that level, they already knew how to fight, but it takes more than a good fighter to make a good Pokemon Trainer.
Ronald touched the helicopter down on the roof of the Pokemon center, making sure to keep a close watch on the warning lights. Should they begin to flash, it would mean that a Pokemon was being flown in, and he'd have to clear out immediately. "I'll call you if I have to bail out, just don't take too long."
"Cream and two sugars?" Blaine asked over the whirling blades.
"Just one today. I'm watching my weight." Ronald patted his stomach, causing Blaine to raise an eyebrow. Ronald was an ex-military man, and in excellent shape. What would one extra-oh forget it.
Damn young people and their lack of logic. The Gym Leader said with a shake of his head as he walked towards the door that lead to the Pokemon Center.
Nina felt the headache beginning to come over her, the sharp pains stabbing at her mind like knives. It was all she could do to try to ignore them. She shut her eyes tightly for a moment. She opened them as a faint noise could be heard in the background.
You know I don't want to hurt you, she thought-spoke.
But this is the only way I can subdue you. Maybe now I can get you to listen to me? Yes, yes. Maybe now you'll listen. Listen to what I have to say. I was told that you had escaped from Saffron's asylum a few days ago. I was concerned for you, which is why I came to see you. That's not good. I also know that you told someone you were planning something big. You said you would need help from friends. I've come to help you. And, the person that told me all of this has come to help you, too. I want you to try to understand something. Don't freak out. Nina's head throbbed with a pain severe enough that she felt as though she could potentially lose consciousness at any given moment. The sound that was in the distance had grown much louder, much closer.
Sabrina... She's alive... And she's... here with me. The elder psychic came into view, standing next to her sister. "It's true, Mike. I'm here."
Mike could only scream in anguish at Nina's telepathic assault. "The voices!" he yelled. "There are so many voices!" He slammed his head to the ground, hoping to force them out, reopening the wound on his forehead that was unknowingly sealed by Napalm's flames earlier. "I can't. I can't...take it anymore." Mike's eyes rolled back into their normal position, and he fell backwards. His hands still clutched his head as he looked up to see Sabrina standing next to his friend. The boy's face practically inverted before he let loose a roaring laugh.
"AH-HAHAHAHAHA!" He pointed a crooked finger at the elder psychic. "Sure! Sabrina's alive! Hahaha! While you're at it, Nina, why don't you bring all the dead from Lilycove! Or my dad! Let's just have one big undead party!" He doubled over in laughter at the thought, even though to anyone else, the statement was anything but. "You-you've got to be kidding me. There's no way that she's alive." He stood up and hobbled over to the Psychic, poking at her face. "I don't know..." With all the hallucinations he'd had, reality and fantasy had begun to blend somewhat. Then again, there was something in Sabrina's eyes, those always narrow, glaring eyes that seemed so real. "I can't..." he grabbed his head once more. "I don't know if I can tell what's real or what's not anymore..." He slammed his eyes shut and dropped his head. "How can I tell that this whole thing isn't just another illusion? Just another trick?" Mike looked up at Sabrina, his eyes filled with tears. Steam rose from his cheeks as he spoke. "You have to promise me that you're real, Sabrina! You have to promise! I can't...I can't take this confusion anymore!" The boy broke down and sobbed, lowering himself to the ground in a tight ball, still holding his head. "You have to promise!" he whimpered, smoke beginning to pour from his mouth as his breathing began to quicken.
"Treecko! Start off with your Dragonbreath!" Kilik called out, "And Drifloon, try to counter it with your Gust!" Treecko reared her head back and let loose her Dragonbreath, blue fire pouring out of her mouth. She kept her feet planted on the ground to keep her steady, her eyes dead on Drifloon. Drifloon loosened his strings and a gust of air escaped from the bottom of the balloon, forming into a spinning whirlwind. To avoid losing more air, he quickly tightened his strings once more. The Gust attack blew straight through his opponent's Dragonbreath and slammed Treecko hard. She held her ground as best she could, feeling the wind swirl around her. That Gust hurt! It was slightly fueled by the power of her Dragonbreath, as she could feel heat all over her body.
Kilik looked over to Aggron and Chimchar to view their progress. The chimp was hopping all over the place, nimbly avoiding all of Aggron's Dragon Claws and Take Downs. Yet with such power, he had to figure that Aggron was holding back on purpose. Kinda like how Kilik told him to be careful with Treecko, Chimchar felt Aggron was being careful with him too. Perhaps that was best...one strike from him and he'd be out like a light in no time. Chimchar charged forward and slammed his fist into Aggron's stomach, looking up at the behemoth as he did so. Aggron felt nothing more than a tickle from that attack. Bringing down his fist to crush the little monkey into the ground, he went much slower to give him more time to react. Despite the fact he wanted more than anything to crush him, he had to obey Kilik. He watched as the little pest jumped up onto his shoulder and let loose a barrage of kicks and punches. He could barely feel a thing.
When the boy turned back to the actual battle he had been commanding, he noticed that Treecko was now sitting on top of Drifloon, trying her best to use a Pound attack. "Treecko, it won't work! He's a Ghost!" Finally, she jumped off and pouted. Well, it would've been nice to know that before hand, master! Yet she couldn't get mad at him...After all, he was training four Pokemon at once! It had to take a lot of smarts to do that! "Use your Dragonbreath again, Treecko," Kilik said plainly, "And Drifloon, I want you to practice dodging it." She could do that! Jumping into the air with her tail, she aimed down at the balloon Pokemon and let loose a stream of Dragonbreath! The Balloon looked up and sucked in a lot of air, growing to at least three times the size of his normal state. Instead of dodging, he took the attack head on and was barely scathed. "Ha!" Kilik laughed, "Great idea, Drifloon! By expanding your surface area, you increased the zone in which the attack could strike, thus taking less damage! You're pretty smart," he gave one of his tassles a high-five. Things were turning out rather well for Kilik, and he showed no signs of slowing.
There were a million and one things that Nina wanted to say to Mike in his current state, but she couldn't bring herself to say anything. She had since left Mike's mind, but her head was still throbbing in pain, which in turn was rather debilitating to her; she sat down as a result, trying to recuperate. Sabrina spoke for her. "We're sorry that we didn't tell you about this sooner, Mike. I know this isn't much of an excuse, but I didn't even tell Nina straight away, because I wanted to protect her. It's true, I was shot and injured very badly, but I survived. I survived under an assumed identity, while acting as a mole under Maorde and his new band of associates-- oh! That reminds me!" Kneeling down next to Nina, she dug through her sister's backpack, and pulled out the doll of Maorde. Getting to her feet, she showed the doll to Mike.
"Look at what I did to him," she said. "He's never going to bring terror to us again. How else could I do this if I weren't alive?" She returned the doll to Nina's backpack, then looked back to Mike, who had since curled into a ball on the ground; approaching the boy, she knelt down beside him. She gently rested her hand on his head, as a sign of reassurance.
"I promise you that I am real, Mike. I am as real as Portabello. I am as real as Kasiya. I am as real as Nina." She gently petted the boy's head, as if he were a cat.
"I promise you. I promise, I promise, I promise."
