Woo-wee...
Looking at the Eclipse-Class Star Dreadnought, Palps clone build them during his rising to power.
They not only packed a wallop, but a superlaser too. Damn. Make a bloody assault if they complimented that laser with its GWP's. Leave the rest of whatevers left to its 58 squadrons of TIEs.

Could be a one man short range fighter. Basically a cockpit with a laser cannon glue onto the nose and thrusters smacked on its bottom.

Could it operate in vacuum or would it be atmospheric?
Maybe strap a bigger engine on it, call it a Wasp. Its the Interceptor killer.

Wasps kill spiders and beetles.
Wasps= Tank killers.
You cant fight wasps effectively with other wasps.

The name was due to its Waspinesstic design.
It could be an effective atmospheric fighter to pick off personnel on the battle field. Looks like it'd be fairly cheap the build.

Well she's so small that I don't think she'll be shielded, and one laser cannon isn't much armament. I think she'd be space only, Planetary fighters have a tendency to be bigger then starfighters for some reason, maybe cause they have lift surfaces.
Gnat would be a much better description.
