The Nightmare:
Jasmine looks at you worriedly. In fact, the whole mead hall is looking at you with various emotions. Most of them with fear.
Chi:
Jean-Paul opens the door the rest of the way and gently embraces you, hardly squeezing at all. You think he was more looking for friendly human contact than an actual farewell.
Everyone except Chi:
One of the maids, a tiny little gnome, looks at The Nightmare with a trembling lip.
"Corruption..." she whispers. "KILL IT WITH FIRE!"
As she says the last word, fire erupts from her tiny hands in a ridiculously long cone of flame that rushes at Misaki, Jade, Ayumu, and The Nightmare.

There is more to purity than light.================================================================ Oddly enough, it seems to take offense to that. Its body takes a single, large stride forward, the blade on its back rising before its tip is plunged into the ground between it and the coursing flames, broad side forward, its massive claw behind it, supporting it from the force of the blow. Nekora raises her hand and shoots a jet of water at the flames. "What are you DOING? He's on our side!" She says to the maid. Fortunately, she was not in the line of fire, so to speak, so she was free to focus on her friends.

I quickly put my shield up to block the fire. "This one is on our side!" I shout.

Yuiin quickly gets up, and without thinking, puts himself between the flaming girl and The Nightmare, arms spread out in a protective way facing the gnome girl.

The Nightmare:
Thankfully, the flames never hit you due to Nekora's water jet.
Nekora:
Your water jet puts out the gnome's flames. She ends up soaked and unhappy.
Everyone except Chi:
The room grows dark as the lights go out and the windows seem to seal up.
"What is the meaning of this?!" a powerful voice demands.
Everyone is quaking in fear, even Jasmine.
Chi:
He smiles and pulls back from you.
"Thank you, Chi," he says. "I hope you have fun on your mission."

I stay on guard, not sure where the voice is coming from. "My friend's power was seen as corruption, and an attack was launched." I say, trying to keep my voice level.

Everyone except Chi:
A magical girl with a long, flowing dress and beautiful blonde hair appears in the air above everyone else. She is glaring angrily at your group, especially The Nightmare.
"You there," she says, pointing at The Nightmare. "What is the meaning of this?"
