Enaella

PostPosted: Tue Jul 24, 2007 6:38 pm

((Bumpity bump bump bump? mad d))

Still panting heavily, Enaella blinked tears out of her eyes, trying to focus on her surroundings even as they blurred her eagle vision. She winced at the sting of the bullet still buried in the soft flesh of her arm, and struggled to stand to her feet. Summoning as much strength as possible, the petite female rose, swaying as she did so, and wiped her eyes with the back of her left hand.

Trembling violently, she shook her head, trying to focus on her surroundings, the scents, the sights—anything but the sting of pain in her arm. Enaella gritted her teeth stubbornly, wanting nothing more than for all of this to end—to just end... Everything just hurt so much... her limbs, her chest, her head, her arm...

"Quit pitying yourself," she whispered softly to herself, drawing breath rapidly to her burning lungs. She repeated it several times, like it was a mantra, and paused to look into the distance, spotting the refugee camp with her acute, sharp eyes. It looked like an illusion—something triggered by her desperate desire for aid—and it probably was.

But she decided to get a closer look anyway.

Inhaling deeply once more, Enaella prepared to run and blur into nothingness to get to this supposed illusion... when her keen ears picked up the sound of movement at a location a little further from where she was. Peeking nervously from around the debris she was hiding behind, Enaella caught sight of a group of people who looked like humans… but something told her that they weren’t exactly humans. Still, she was better off safe than sorry. Definitely.

Crouching into a ready position to run—ignoring the scarlet flood of blood that trickled down the length of her arm and sleeve—Enaella drew one more breath and then lunged to the side, blurring into invisibility because of her swift speed. Guiding herself around the group as quietly as possible, the teenager-like female felt her hopes rise that she would remain unnoticed when—

Fwwooooosh.

Halting herself in her tracks to stop herself from crashing dead-on into another piece of debris that she had failed to realize in her excitement, Enaella slid to a stop, accidentally kicking up a large cloud of dust into the air. The grains of sand irritated her nose and eyes, causing her to sneeze and her eyes to water. And now, it was beginning to pain her bullet wound, rubbing at it like salt.

Biting back a cry as best as she could, but still releasing a loud yelp from her parted lips, the auburn-haired girl coughed, choking on the dust, and shook her head, gripping her wounded arm like it was a lifeline.

And then she prepared to run again despite her aching, horrible fatigue, knowing that it was likely she had been seen after this commotion.

Iris smiled, turning slowly towards the girl. She had known of this girl's presence from the scent of her blood, which had tipped off the eagle in this girl's blood.

"Oh, you poor thing!" she said walking towards the girl. she raised her hands, showing their lack of claws, weapons, or anything frightening in the least. she then sat the girl down.

"We need to get that bullet out, and you'l need tetnis and regular antibodies. it's not infected, and barely inflamed- you're very lucky. now, first thing's first. i've got to remove the bullet. sorry if it's painful, but i've run out of poppy and thyamine's harmful to predatory birds... i'm not sure how it will react with you." she reached into her bag, taking out a white-enameled case with burnished silver bands. she took a pair of lethal looking tweezers, and carefully set about removing the bullet. to distract her, she prattled on about certain types if fish and fowl that were relatively tasty, ignoring the girl's shakes as the bullet was extracted from it's fleshy sheathe.

" good, now i just have to disinfect it and seal it up. Oh, and give you that tetnis shot." she talked about her little brother and sisters as she did such, ignoring the girl's protests and holding her firmly when she tried to turn away.

" there." she said, wrapping her arm in a bandage. " better?"
