Henry looked over at the male elf, raising his eyebrows curiously. "Nothing to be sorry for, sir. We're all on edge here. I don't mean to be as crass as I sound." He smiled bitterly at the two, giving another shrug of his shoulders. "In times like these, all we have is our ability to be ruthless. The fear doesn't take us so quickly that way." He continued down the hill, not bothering to see if the others were following him. They would come, or they would die.

"It's not so much that you forgot, it's more like we didn't have time to be chummy with the near-death and all." Alex returned to her post next to Lina, looking at her carefully. She suddenly seemed very less her bubbly self, and it was troubling the Italian. "You're lucky to be able to do that. Seems a lot of people I know are following those footsteps - being a doctor."

…the rest of the living scientists? Sable raised his eyebrows. Hopefully, they weren’t as…worked up as the one the rest of the group had the deal with. Wait? Did he say weren’t so lucky? What else could be happening to these guys? He sighed, falling silent as he struggled to keep up with the pair of chatting girls. Sable pushed his glasses up again, glancing over at RhuZhi. Hmm. He was looking at his brother. It seemed like everyone was moving now. Sable decided, for the time being, it might be best for him to keep quiet, at least until they get to the ‘safer’ place. Wherever that was.

(( Sorry we hadn't posted, we were waiting til there was someone in the area for our boys to run into XDD ))

Still walking along ... though he was more beside Far now than behind him. At some point, they'd started holding hands as they walked along ... and per usual, Farlest was keeping up a near-constant conversation, no matter how much Ka was or wasn't responding.

With a faint smile, Ka glanced up to check the position of the sun, blinking slightly. "Hey Far ... you are sure this is the right direction, yea?"

That stopped the chatter, and the smaller of the two young men raised a hand to shade his eyes, blinking for a moment before he nodded. "Mmmhmm...this is." He stated with more than a little confidence. "In fact...I think I can hear something...see the hills up there?" He stood up on tip-toe, "I think that's where we're headed." It was the only landmark out here.

Now...Farlest hadn't considered that traveling through this area on their own might be dangerous...and in fact they'd probably been fortunate that nothing had happened to them, but that was the way that Farlest was...he was used to doing things primarily on his own. Well...he had Ka now, for which he was grateful, but...they weren't adults yet, not that the adults had been able to cope with things perfectly either.

Ka looked over to where Far was pointing and nodded then, looking a bit relieved. He did trust Far not to get them lost but ... well. Best-laid plans and all that. Nothing was ever really certain, after all. But he did see the hills Far was talking about and if he concentrated, there was a bit more noise coming from over that way. Not much ... they were still too far away to make anything out ... but a little.

Squeezing the other's hand slightly, he murmured, "I just hope they don't freak out or something at seeing us." Because well. He knew that students weren't reeeeally supposed to be here. Except for maybe the Chinese students. Definitely not ... everyone.

Farlest's smile was warm as he turned it onto his friend. Yes...he'd been afraid that he would get them lost...that he would mislead them...that something terrible would happen to them all alone out here...but nothing had, and it seemed that they would be safe. Ah, but wasn't this more the beginning of their adventure...than the end? It was but a few more steps...and he could see them...not that he knew many of them, though he recognized a teacher or two. Strange...not all of the students seemed to be chinese.

"I think it'll be all right, Ka..." He assured softly, pulling that hand in close for a moment...before he was off and dragging again. He waved a hand, hoping that they didn't get in too much trouble for this. "Hullo all!" Nope...not a shy bone in his body....none at all...Farlest didn't seem to be afraid of much, his fears hidden away quite securely from prying eyes.

Ka could see the others as well, as they came over that hill. And he blinked, turning around to stare at Far for a second. Uhm ... great, let's announce ourselves. Not that he minded, really. Since it seemed they weren't the only "unauthorized" visitors ... not by far. But still ... well. It was just how Farlest was. Ka offered a faint smile of his own and joined the other boy in waving.

Dante nodded. "Mmm," was the only agreement or dissent he gave.

Always the vocal one, that one was.

Lina nodded. "'I want to do SOMEthing to help people. I don't want to live my whole life ********, things were starting to look appetizing. She went into her duffel bag, tore out another box of Pocky and started eating two sticks at a time to try and quell the fact that most of the vegetation here was starting to look...edible.....

Irame followed Henry and her brother down the hill. She looked over at Dante, glad that he hadn’t said anything to the man, and also simply worry about him as well. Then again she was worried about everyone really, and she knew that Dante was one of the ones that she should worry least about. It just hit close to home she supposed.

Well I don’t think that they’ve messed this up. They’re not zombies, although I suppose that they could be something else. I’ll have to look.” She said quietly in elven to Dante. “I hope that they are something undead, then this can all be over soon. I just really do not think that they are.” She smiled. “May luck and the blessings of maya be with us then, hmm Dante?

"Indeed,"
said Dante, still disquieted but less panicky than before. "Let's hope it's something that WE can handle...although I fear the worst." He paused. "...Irame, if it's NOT undead I want you to take the group and run. Run wherever you can. Undead or Human, they're susceptible to flame, and that's my area of expertise."

Henry suddenly stopped at the base of one of the hills. "Stay here, please," he requested firmly, before disappearing around the other side. There was a strange sound of metal clanging before Henry walked briskly back around the hill. "Quickly." With that one word of command, he moved around the hill once more.

On the other side of the hill are two large metal doors with a surprisingly tight security system, complete with locks and hissing hydraulics. The strange part about this door is that it's set directly into the hill! There are a few other bedraggled looking men just inside the gaping metal maw, who Henry greets and reassures them, "It's okay. They're from Shinkami." The men give him a strange type of nod before waiting for the group to enter...

It's a facility, although rather run down. There's a few beds and rugs in the corner where a few men are sleeping on their off shift with a fridge near by as well as a two doors that indicate bathrooms. The rest of the room is somewhat small, although more than enough room to fit the people within it. There are a few scattered desks and chairs, some research materials placed haphazardly around the area and a panel with a few switches - presumably for the door. Near the back is an area that has been seperated by some dark sheets and broken cubicle walls. "Home sweet home," Henry remarked with a darkly sarcastic smile as he joined the rest of the group. "This is all that's left."

When the others had left the area together all in a massive group Audun had followed them without a word, actually staying a bit to the back and out of general view. It wasn't that he was afraid of the people that where around since his little run-in with Lina earlier and it wasn't that he wasn't sure of what to do...it's just he didn't feel like honestly walking in with them and chatting away like friends.

He had heard most of what was going on through the conversations he could catch when it switched from language to language, and it played over in mind the whole situation he'd pulled himself into. It did justify the anger Lina had shown, and it did justify all the precautions and unease the people had prepared about themselves.

"....."

What he had really gotten himself into out of mere curiosity almost made him regret ever having the thought, but for the moment he kept it all inside his head and simply sighed softly at the whole situation. If he managed to find Lina again, or anyone else for that matter that he may have offended in his short time, he'd apologize. Majorly.

Dante blinked, simply taking stock of the area a moment.

"....My God."

Lina drew in a sharp breath, hiding her head in her hands. "No, no, no," she said to herself. "Not again. Not again."

Anything but something like this. PLEASE....

"Child!" Dante's voice was sharp and it drew Lina's head from her hands, the first vestiges of tears beginning to show. "Now is not the time for emotional breakdowns. Save that for our deathbed or when we're on our way out of here--preferably the latter"

"...I understand. I apologize, Master Arake--ArQu--"

"No need to mutilate my name any further, child. Just call me Dante."

"...All right." The girl wiped her tears away. Tried to.

...God, her stomach was killing her.

Alex peered at Lina, a frown starting to show. "Are you all right? You've been...eating a lot of sweets, and--" She cut herself short, looking at her friend in shock and confusion as she buried her head in her hands. Her eyes snapped between the male elf and Lina as something unspoken passed between them, soothing her troubled friend.

"Maledizione! Lina?" Alex frowned deeply, starting to lapse into her work habits of being stand offish and something of a brute, swearing in her mother tongue. "Che diavolo!" Her mistrusting gaze turned to the elf. He'd been hiding something, too, but she was trying to be good for RuiZhi's sake. It would do neither of them any good if she made his life...no, she wouldn't let him suffer, even if the elf wasn't exactly cordial to humans. The thought of her little brother's face made her glance over her shoulder to him, his innocent smile melting some of the tension on her face.

The woman pursed her lips, counting backwards from ten, her eyes returning to their dull luster of her mask. "Lina, what's wrong?"

Was she impressed by the shelter? No. It was no different than that place, and as long as it wasn't glowing, she'd deal with it.

Ah, so she'd caught on.

Dante's face remained impassive even as Alex looked between the two of them. The exchange was not as she thought; he was merely trying to calm Lina down. Granted, he knew the reasons behind her actions...but to confront her at a time like this....

"Child." Dante rubbed his temples, then reached down and took Lina's shoulders. "Why don't you go and take a rest. You appear to need it."

"I....yeah. That's a good idea," the girl said, and smiled weakly.

"Doctor Henry, please escort her to any place where she can rest." The voice was direct and firm, unlike the coddling gentle tone Lina had used earlier, brooking no argument.

He turned his head, and for a moment his eyes met Alex's. Then he turned and began to walk towards the back of the shelter, a bit slower. As though he were waiting for someone to catch up.
