((sorry for the long delay...studies...killing me...))

They miscalculated how Areno was able to get to the ground so quickly, but they already had an answer...Not being flame clones, the other Shunketsu charged at Areno as the ball was still rising from the ground, with the two from before, who had created the flame clones, already getting rather close, getting ready with kunais to go slash-crazy on Areno...
However, this frontal assault was all meant to distract Areno from the poof of smoke that had occured behind him...Kuchiyose no Jutsu: Kazangan...From within the smoke shot out a ball of what seemed like lava...still very hot and coming at a pretty good speed...dodge this, and the diamond ball is hit and melted...get hit by this, and you melt...Where the ball of lava emanated from would be the mouth of a horse-length, half horse-height salamander...its mere presence seemed to cause the room temperature to skyrocket...but the heat of this wouldn't reach Areno as quickly as that lavaball...

One: Lava does not melt diamonds, especially not on the surface. Areno may or may not know this. Secondly, heat didn't bother him, to be honest... nor did the kunai-swinging Shunketsus, if they managed to stab him, jolly good for them - physical wounds shifted and disappeared on and in Areno's flesh. It was also likely that performing a complicated Kuchiyose takes longer than an action akin to a transmutation, in either case, lava or no lava, the laser goes off in under a second from hand clap to cutting. Now that there's a salamander head, it gets turned on that, too, after the Shunketsus.

Areno wouldn't need to finish off the remaining Shunketsu...the salamander did that for him...slamming Shunketsu against the ground...and then used his tail to shatter the spine...you know something is up when a summon turns on his summoner...
As for what used to be Shunketsus...they were now just...Shunketsu pieces...upon closer inspection, the body's physical attributes were as if they were the real thing, including scars, hair length and style, fingerprints if they cared to continue looking...something wasn't right...There couldn't be any possible means of having so many identical Shunketsus, all with real bodies, could there?
A hidden camera captured footage of the fight...for what purpose? scouting...of course...
Anywhos, for the time being, their path was clear...well, it was littered with body parts, but clear nonetheless...up until they met something Shuten would find familiar, if he were there...by this time, the corridor was rather undamaged...full lighting, blinking panels with shiny buttons...the works...
Several hundred tiny metal balls stayed suspended in midair, blocking the path...it's not like they formed a solid wall, there was at least 6 inches between each one...if touched, the balls seemed to just sway a bit...eventually returning to its original position...it seemed easy enough to just push one's way through the balls, but the balls continued down the hall for at least 20 feet...there was no sign of anybody controlling the balls however...

::hinata stayed close to Kotai, her fingers flexing slightly now and again, as if they itched to call a weapon to her. But she didn't, not yet, not wanting to set off the trap. But her milky white eyes scanned over the area, searching...::
(where is Dox anyway? razz did he disappear like I did?)

Kotai, with Hinata, moved inwards. "Breach Team, follow the Sand Defender, provide backup, and keep yourselves spaced to maintain contact. Half of the main force will stay behind inside of the entrance with us, and the other half will remain outside the entrance, in command of Tekikaku, who will relay his orders through the mic-sets." He gave his orders, and saw to it that they were carried out.

Kazangan, the salamander who "Shunketsu" had summoned just rested somewhere for the moment...up against the side as to not block anyone's way...he seemed pissed...whether anyone figured Kazangan to be able to speak was anyone's guess...but he was capable...not like he wanted to talk at the moment...
arrow Base Depths
Around the corner, several normally-buff-armored soldiers came into view from behind the area infested by floating balls...while most of them got ready and positioned themselves in a mini-phalanx...one of them was messing with some kind of control panel...
And before you knew it, the balls seemed to all move out of the way, going up against the walls...leaving a path open...through which bolts of flame and electricity came through at Areno's group...

[[ -smacks again- All ninjas can teleport. Kawarimi and Shunshin are the mainstay teleportation jutsu/abilities, and are the basis for all others. And sure you can, you just don't try hard enough. But, Busou Renkin pleases me, continue. ]]

Kotai peered over the salamander. "Fire demon, I've seen you with Shunketsu before. What's going on here? Are you capable of speech?" If not, he was going to look really silly. He motioned a couple of ninjutsu specialists over, in any case.

And which met with Areno's sand shield harmlessly. However, the electricity was quite welcome. The surface of the shield exploded into miniature needles, which tri-sectioned. "Suna Raishin no jutsu!" The soldiers found their own electricity flying back at them, magnified.

((planned to use this guy later on, but since Komm is into Busou Renkin at the moment and all...and I never really thought of Kawarimi and Shunshin as teleportation but rather very rapid body movement...so, I guess there's the flaw in my train of thought))

The front row of floating balls along the walls started to glow and attracted the electricity towards them...but what needed to be done was now done...the sand wall would create a nice little barrier between the two groups, hiding what was about to happen next from sight...
The commander took this chance to come out from around the corner and basically flew forward....his weapon? a really really big spear with some kind of shiny cloth wrapped around it...and this shiny cloth released a lot of concentrated energy, with the spear focusing that energy to enable to fly forward faster and impact harder...A shield of sand can stop a lot of things...but can it stop the Sunlight Crusher?
While this was happening, another guy stepped out from around the corner...

::wearily Hinata eyes the large Salamander. She really didn't know what to expect at the moment. Her eyes darted between Kotai, the Salamander and the areas in which the teams had split up. Out of pure habit she stayed near Kotai, white eyes darting about, reading things here and there and waiting for the order to move further on::
::Kira, who had been left with the Medical nins was beginning to become a problem as she regained most of her energy. She refused to stay put, insisting on going out and finding Shuten. Muttering the entire time that if anyone was going to get rid of him it was going to be her::

The salamander gave a cold stare to the group, but didn't show any signs of ill-intent...eventually, after several seconds to allow Komm to feel silly for a bit, it spoke...
"I do not really know what the situation is. All I know is that only Shunketsu and Shunketsu alone is able to summon me specifically. However, the one I just killed and the ones you just killed are not Shunketsu. I'm positive of it. They share his blood. They share his skills. But they do not share his mind..."

Then there is yet a chance that our dear friend did not betray us entirely.
::ever hopeful wasn't she? She didn't want to have to battle someone that she had fought alongside. However, there were still some tricks up her sleeve that she could use in case they had to. Ones she never thought to use on a friend::

Areno could see just fine, actually. The sand from two blocks on his weights always formed Daisan no Me when called out. He lowered his sand shield for a moment to let the flying jouster inside, but not before stepping off just to the right beforehand. As the spearman flew by, a hand shot out of his shoulder and grabbed the spear's shaft just behind the man holding it, and before the energy expelled behind it.
Two more hands reached out of that hand and grasped hold, yanking back the opposite direction. The sudden halt of motion should jolt the man forward and off the spear, with his momentum.

Kotai nodded. "Alright. Fire demon, since you seem to be best at this, I need you to accompany the main force once the Breach Team has cleared a path, we'll look for Shunketsu while we take this place down." Absently as he spoke, his hand found Hinata's, and he gave it a little reassuring squeeze.

::Absently she returned the squeeze, looking at the Salamandar, unsure that he would be able to help them at the moment, since supposedly he was in some way tied to Shun. But since Shun has not actually called him, it seemed odd for him to be here in the first place::
::Gently she let go of Kotai, walking to the wall, placing one hand on it to guide her as she moved a few steps away, milky eyes examining the area around them. Something did not feel right::

Kazangan(Salamander): "Tch...just tell me when...but don't expect me to follow orders. Once I find Shunketsu, I'm done."
As for Hinata's suspicions, there wasn't anything actually "wrong" going on. They cleared that particular part of any obstacles. The walls still held them in, and it would take some effort to penetrate the walls completely, but other than that, nothing was out of place. Kazangan seemed to cooperate as well.
arrow Base Depths
Weapon Energy Overload. That basically summed up the main idea. Getting a weapon to penetrate the enemy's front defense and then overload and explode to damage whatever stood behind it, shieldbearer and allies alike. This happened as soon as the spearman let go of the spear, but he was pulled back to his group for a string of metal beads seemed to have been tied around his ankle. Apparently, the metal spheres here served as extra ammo, able to be manipulated by any commanding officer in the area, which allowed each commander to not only wield a hand-held weapon, but also be able to support that with the spheres.
