Bella shifted her weight to her other foot, and now that she was more relaxed, it became apparent how incredibly short she was. Not that at this point it mattered. She could probably kill all three of them before they could count to five. But, it would go against her nature to unleash her full fury without warning or reason like that. She kept compleatly scilent for a few breif moments that seemed to drag on for hours, then she spoke up, a light smile curling up hthe corner of her lips as a set of pure white fangs glistened int the soft light of the forest. "It seems to me like the three of you needed to talk peacefully to me. If that ends up being what you need, I would be more than happy to medeate. Be lucky you found one of the few truly peacful vampires int he world." her voice broke for a second at the word 'vampire'. It was what she was, true. And she hadn't ever any choice in the matter, but she was ashamed of the way she lived at times. She truly was a gentle creature at heart. But, there was a wicked side to little Bella that was dying to free itself. And the last time it had, well... let's just leave it at the USA was short a few hundred humans. That side was always in the back of her mind, taunting her with what it had done almost 40 years ago. Bella sighed at the memory. She wasn't going to let Aly have to live with innocent life on her hands like she did. No one needed that guilt hanging over their heads like a knife dangling by a hair, the slightest breeze could mean certain death.

* Maya was as relieved as she could be under the circumstances. But now that everything was settled, now that Aly was back to normal and everyone knew the twisted story, there were bigger issues at hand. She could still feel the Dark Presence. Aly and Spirit already knew about them, but how could this be explained to Bella? Maya didn't want to just start fighting without Bella being fully aware of the situation, nor did she want the Dark to get to Bella before she could. "As far as peaceful vampires go, I don't have much experience. Does that title include peace keeping? We might need some help soon. If you are willing, that is." Maya turned to Aly then. "Well, Aly, you seem to be yourself again, but-" She closed her eyes briefly, trying to concentrate on the strength of the Dark Presence. It was not very strong but it lingered undyingly. She opened her eyes suddenly to stare straight at Aly. Maya's eyes bore penetratingly into Aly's; she had to be sure that Aly's answer to her next question would not be a lie. "Aly, is there anything you want to tell us about?"

* Aly listened to Bella and nodded thoughtfully. Indeed, it relaxed her more that she was here for if it had been just Spirit, Maya and herself, she was positive it would not have gone as peaceful. Thoughts swarmed in Aly’s mind of what might have happened, and she grimaced. It was Maya’s question that brought her back to reality. Don’t tell her! The voice hissed. Surprise flitted across Aly’s face as the voice returned, this time with much more force. For the first time in her life, she felt complied to listen to a voice that registered evil. Was it her choice? Aly didn’t know. She felt the struggle deep within to tell Maya and the new presence that silenced her. Exasperated, she turned her focus to Spirit, Maya and Bella. “What do you think?” She answered, barely above a whisper. “Not here. What is one place where we can go that we will not be interrupted?” Aly knew that Maya would know what was going on, and she hoped that she would suggest a place that was suitable for all. *

* Maya took Aly's hint. She would have to lead them all back to the protected area of the forest where the Dark could not follow them. It worried her that Aly seemed to be the target of evil. First, she lost her own control, and now the Dark were after her. Why her? Why just her? Why not Maya (okay, never mind, Maya knew the answer to that one), or Spirit or Bella? Maybe they were going after Aly because she was currently the most vulnerable. After all, she had been through a lot. She was tired, still a bit scared, maybe confused. She would make an easy victim for them. That had to be the reason why. The Dark would attack all of them eventually. Right now, they were just biding their time. "I don't mean to be rude or pushy, but everyone follow me, right now. Run fast," Maya said, then darting away, hoping the others would follow her before more of the Dark could join the already too-strong-for-comfort presence.

Bella watched Maya run off, fast for a human, but as far as Bella was concerned, slow. She waited for her to get a little ways ahead so she could see exactly where Maya was headed, then she leasurely pulled back her blonde hair into a ponytail and took of after her. In just a matter of second, Bella was right at Maya's side, "Do you mind my asking why we are running? Not to be rude, but we could move a lot faster if I carried you all." True as it was that Bella was a maximum of five feet tall, she was still plenty strong enough to carry all three of them and it still not affect her running speed. Though she was a bit agitated that they couldn't run as fast as she, she understood that they couldn't help it. Not everyone could easily outrun bullets. On the plus side, she would be an exellent asset should they find theselves in a fight. Which, if things were going the way Bella thought they were, shouldn't be to far off. The only question in her mind was who would be fighting who?

*Aly bit her bottom lip nervously, keeping her face low to the ground. She was surprised that Maya even wanted to help her, after their most recent experiences. She threw a quick glance at Spirit and then took off after Maya and Bella. Maya was quite fast, and Bella, well she was a vampire. Aly wasn't a runner, but she could move at a decent pace. Thoughts flitted across her mind, and she doubted that she was the only one to think them. Why was she being targeted? Why now? Aly sighed as she trudged forward. Where are you going? The voice demanded, irritation etched in with every word. Aly tried desperately to ignore the voice in her head. Hoping that by some miracle, it would vanish if she tried hard enough. She had enough to cope with as is, and with every new danger that lurked, she feared she would lose herself once again. However, she promised herself that she wouldn't stop. She would keep pushing herself until Maya led her to the place where she was safe. Somewhere that she would be able to tell the truth, and ask for help. She pushed the voice further away, and allowed her legs to carry her the rest of the way. *

*Spirit kept up with the group easily, she was use to running on the uneven ground, she didn’t even have to pay attention to where she was going; her feet just knew where to go. As the ran she stayed close to Aly, even though she seemed to be back to normal for the most part she had broken the trust between them and Spirit didn’t agree with that. Maya might have been able to forgive Aly right away but Spirit thought if Aly had really wanted her friendship then she wouldn’t have broken it in the first place. Besides Aly Spirit was also watching Bella closely, she had said that she was a peaceful vampire but that really didn’t tell her anything, words were easily said. So far she hadn’t done anything to seem untrustworthy but Spirit continued to keep her guard up anyways. “Maya I have to agree with Bella partly, not that I would ever need to be carried by anyone, but why are we running? Are these guys so bad that we could never possibly take them?” Spirit asked. Maya made them seem so awful and it was probably true but would she always run from them? Spirit thought back to the time, which wasn’t that long ago, when she had tried to go face the Dark clan by herself and she wondered if Maya or even Aly remembered, it hadn’t really ended well. She shook the thought from her head, that was a different situation and she wasn’t even sure anymore if she wanted her fear back, after the memory from her past maybe it was best to keep her fear locked away forever.*

* Maya slowed to a walk as they entered the protected area. It would have been faster if Bella had carried them, given that she was a vampire, but Maya would have felt bad asking. Besides, the entire run hadn't taken very long, at least not to her. It had given her time to think. "We're here," she announced. Everyone pretty much came in at the same time. "The reason we are running," she began to answer Bella and Spirit's question, "is because we need to talk. Privately, if you know what I mean." She looked around at them, sighed and sat down on the grass. "Spirit, we do not want to fight them unless it is absolutely necessary. The Dark presence we were feeling before wasn't very strong, so there probably was only one of them. But that one could easily call thousands of others to its side within a fraction of a second. We would soon be...overwhelmed." She looked up again at the others. This bunch wouldn't scare easily, or at least not Spirit and Bella. They both probably thought that they were invincible. They could fight armies of evil without any harm coming to them at all because they were that strong. But there were things which Bella could not tear through with her teeth, or crush with her brute strength. True, her strength and speed might be useful, but not for long, not with many of the Dark attacking. Maya didn't know what powers Spirit held in her book; she was very secretive. But Maya had never heard of a lone demon being able to vanquish the Dark. Maya was anxious to see their reactions when she told them that the fiercest battle would be in their minds. "There are a few things you all need to understand," she told them. "If you want to fight, stay and listen. If you don't, leave now. It is best if this information remains undisclosed to those who will not be involved."

Bella closed her eyes and listened carefully to all that Maya was saying. Her sensitive ears drank in every word with uncanny perception. While Bella didn't think she was invincible, she did know what she was capable of. A fight wasn't what she was looking for when she came strolling through the forest, but if it meant protecting this innocent children (for in her sight, they were all mere infants) then she would gladly put herself in the line of fire. These 'dark' might not be able to tell that she was a vampire right off, but if they couldn't, then they could definitely use that as a weapon. Physically, she wasn't threatening. A mere five feet in height, and looking to be only 16, Bella might be ignored and could toss herself in when it was to late for the Dark to do anything about it. "I'm not eager for a fight, but if that's what it takes to keep you girls safe, then I'll help in any way I can." her smile was pleasant, warm, and comforting. She was like a little sister who wanted to protect an older sibling. It seemed a little backwards, but she seemed so loving.

*Aly felt the evil lurking within her mind leave her, and for the first time in a long time, she took a deep breath. Her body instantly relaxed and Aly leaned against a tree, folding her arms against her chest. While she was tuned into what Maya was explaining, she still allowed her brain to wander for a few seconds. Aly truly wondered if the evil had left her for good or if it was just lurking outside the protected area. It was Maya's voice informing them that if they did not want to stay to hear the explanation that they should leave that brought her back to reality. Aly stared longingly at the exit and for a second, she thought about leaving. She wanted to run as far as she could and never come back. She wanted to lock herself away in a cottage on the beach and pretend she was normal. She could start over. Pretend to be someone different. But she knew that if she left, she would be forever haunted by her decision. She sighed and returned her attention back to Maya. She was in it for better or for worse. * "I'm staying." Aly said firmly. "And you should also know that the Dark has been contacting me. I have no idea why but they wished for me to join them. At least, that's what I think. You're the expert though Maya, what do you think?" *

*Spirit looked around her, somewhere out there was a group of evil people but when see looked out at the trees and plants the surrounded them it was hard to believe that something so evil actually excited. Of course she knew there was evil everywhere, hidden in places where you couldn’t see, there was probably evil within every one of them, it just was really good at not being seen. Spirit wanted to help Maya, she had to, how could she just stand around when people hurt others? “I’ll stay, a fight would help get some stress off my shoulders anyway,” Spirit said as she plopped herself down on the ground. Although it was true that after all this sitting around a fight would clear her mind but at the same time she was still concerned about the flash from the past she had. She still didn’t understand why it had come back to her like that and she hoped it didn’t mean that is up coming fight would lead her to lose control of herself like before. Spirit shook her head of the thought, no; she would not let that happen, no matter what. She cleared her head and then turned her attention to Aly and what she was saying, that must have been why Spirit had felt the presence of evil earlier. “Well, no wonder that wanted you to join them, “Spirit said without looking at Aly, “you went into world domination mode not to long ago, and if I’m not mistaken I think that is that kind of people they are after.”*

*Aly felt like she had just been slapped. It was true, she had been crazed with power and she lost control. The important thing was that she had stopped herself before anything serious happened. Aly adverted her eyes to the ground and let out an audible sigh. It was going to be a long time before anyone ever trusted her again- if they ever did. "Yes, I did make a mistake. I lost control and allowed my emotions get the best of me," Aly said coldly. She brought herself to look at them all, her eyes fierce. "Tell me now, and let's say this truthfully. We are protected within this barrier, and anything you wish to tell will remain a secret. The Dark is pursuing me and I am not sure why. If Spirit's accusation is true, if it is because of my evil, than why am I still allowed within this protected area? It is my knowledge, and perhaps Maya would be so kind as to correct me if I am wrong, that any evil is not allowed within this barrier. Please tell me this, have you all not done something that you are not proud of? That anytime you think about it, you might cringe with regret? I will regret this for the rest of my life, and if you wish to continue to persecute me for it than do so. But I do believe that you would only have the right if you are perfect and have never committed a sin!" *

*Maya felt bad for Aly, and she was already starting to forgive her, but Spirit did have a point. Then again, so did Aly. Maya was sure that everyone had done something that tormented them for a long time afterwards, whether they had a reason to do it or not. "It's true, I've done something horrible. I told you already; I killed the only friend I ever had in self defense when the Dark possessed her. That's why I want you all to stay on my side, and follow the precautions I will give you. I do not want to have to kill you, because it's either that or losing you to the Dark. In my Clan, we cannot let anyone who is possessed by the Dark live. Do I think that is wrong? Yes, because it is not really the person doing the dark deeds; the real person is still somewhere deep down there. The Dark are working through them, but so far we have not yet found a way to expel the Dark from the bodies, nor have we encountered any person strong enough to fight back while they were being possessed. The are dormant in their own bodies. Do you see why this is so dangerous? It would be one thing to physically harm the body, but they try to take total control. And once they take control it is nearly impossible to get it back." Maya paused to take a breath. "Aly, I do not think that you are taking this the right way. Evil is not forbidden from entering this area. Many evil sorcerers have come and gone in this area. It is the Dark that cannot enter here. That is not to say that you are evil. I'm just informing you. Any questions before I continue?"

*Spirit looked over at Aly, her face giving off no emotion, “I wasn’t saying you were evil Aly, all I was trying to get through is the Dark is going after you because of your latest actions. They are probably thinking that you are a good person to go after this you don’t seem that stable and you are full of a lot of hatred emotions.” Spirit kept her eyes locked on Aly’s for a while longer before she dropped her gaze and turned to Maya, “I do got one question, how do we kill these Dark members? I mean can they be cut by weapons or does only magic work, stuff like that.” Spirit asked.*

* Maya thought that Spirit had a good point, although she was not about to say so out loud. Maya sighed. "Well, Spirit, that depends on who you are dealing with. If it is one of the Dark in their true form, then they can only be killed with certain types of magic. My magic seems like it would be just another physical trait, but the magic instilled in the power to move things with my mind can slay them. So if I were to hurl a weapon at them using my mind, it would work. If anyone else not of my Clan were to hurl a weapon at them, it would not work. You see? But, if they are possessing something else, depending on what it is, they can be killed with weapons. They use it's body as a shell, and if it dies, so does the Dark one possessing it. Do you understand?"
