Woodwinds by far. I live for the smooth, jazzy bass tones of woodwind instruments.

Yeah, when I say, or anyone says, that like brass or whatever ROCKS everyone else sucks! Well, one doesn't REALLY mean it like that, I mean, without any of the other instruments music would be so extremely boring.
I mean, it really pisses me off when my clarinet friend, who hates the oboe, says she hates the sound of it, and the bassoon. Like, I really like the bassoon and whatever, but that's not the point. She won't admit that brass are so awesome either. It just makes me really mad... I don't know. The oboe and bassoon have their songs and times when they're essential. You can't say that you hate hte sound of it and they're useless.
It makes me cry... crying ... whee I just don't like when people discriminate scream . Clarinets aren't the greatest thing since sliced bread! [Okay don't reply to that comment! sweatdrop ]
... I'm done.

Durza the Shade Woodwinds! I originally wanted to play trumpet, but as it turned out, I couldn't buzz my lips worth squat, so I went with clarinet, my second choice. I'm glad now I did, I'd much rather hang out with a bunch of girls (I'm the only male woodwind, besides the saxophones) than some of those brass guys. *shudders* Hah! same here! i wanted to play trumpet..cept my mom said it made her think of the army in the mornings ya know when they wake em up? well my mom and i compromised to clarinet! WOODWINDS RULE! yea there are only 3 guy clarinets... there was another...but that guy suked...so he dropped out blaugh

Brass baby I am a full fledged Trumpet Player. I love brass... though that may just be my trumpet ego talking.
Don't get me wrong, I like woodwinds also its just that the woodwinds in my band aren't really good so.... I like woodwinds that can play!!

im a trumpet player, so of course i think brass is better. but i think part of the reason i dont like woodwinds is because our entire section (with the exception of maybe 4 players) completely stinks.

To the topic of what saxes count as: Whenever my director says "woodwinds" he never means sax. In the beginning of the year, we got in trouble for playing with the flutes and clarinets a couple of times. Now, he'll specifically say saxes. It's usually "Horns and saxes" but sometimes "winds and saxes".

wood winds add the frosting, and brass is the big juicy steak inside.

BOTH! I'm one of those rare individuals that play woodwinds and brass. My main instrument is clarinet, and bass clarinet and I play Sax and Bassoon too, but I marched Baritone and played horn and euphonium in various ensembles at my college. It's a tough call.
