I got two ideas...that come to mind, I'd be happy to continue either of them and would be even happier to chuck em out and rethink them. Lol whatever. They're pretty generic, but RPs can't get too complicated.
Also if it's a bit scrambled and not too coherient, it's fine I think it lets there be more questions asked etc, apologies if it's all totally un-intelligible though.
Anyway, feedback please, I'd like to get RPing soon ^__^
With a Republic struggling to regain order and a galaxy licking it's wounds, chaos has broken loose. It has been many years since the last galactic struggle and with the decline of government the decline of order follows closely at it's heels.
Outlaws, fraud, mercenaries all have broken loose flooding the galaxy in a struggle to fill the power vacuum left by the lost republic.
Now several prominant factions have emerged.
The New Republic Forces - A group made up of loyal republic soldiers and people, this faction is dedicated to restoring the Galactic Republic back, though many other factions view the Galactic Republic as insufficient and outdated. Most noted members include older jedi and "higher class". They occupy the bulk of the Inner Rim
Jedi Alliance - The bulk of the Jedi have joined this orginization in interests of restoring peace to the chaotic galaxy. The Jedi can see the value of all the Factions and get along well with the Republic, and are primarily diplomatic their only 'enemies' are the rebel Jedi/dark jedi factions. The Jedi alliance is well spread throughout the galaxy with high influence in the inner rim and middle rim terretories.
Sith Empire - The Sith Empire is composed of Sith and outlaws alike, promising great things The Sith empire Claims most of the outer rim terretories. The Sith Empire has declared open war with the New Republic and fights them for control of Middle Rim Teretories.
--Neutral or smaller factions---
Children of Mandalore - and organization of neo-mandalorians bent on galactic control. Their organization is reputable for powerfull and brutal tactics, disturbingly true to the Mandalorian name.
United Outlaws - A group of criminals and outlaws, ranging from Jawas to Fallen Jedi, any and all Dissenters and abandoners are welcome here. Their interests are centered soley around profit, often scoffing at the political agendas of larger factions.
Fallen/Dark Jedi - A group of largely independant force users who have banded together, established by rebel Jedi who viewed the current order to be outdated these rebels are a small but powerfull force. The New Jedi order seeks these rebels down efficiantly, however the Sith Empire often will be seen attempting to convert these.
It will be the player's mission to develope this large scale galactic struggle. And may fight for whichever side they see fit, climbing the ranks etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Idea 2
The Galaxy remains in a delicate state, the outer Rim colonies have been all but lost due to a mysterious yet persistant preasence intruding upon the Galaxy. Only rumors have been able to reach the inner and mid rim colonies thus far, tales of dark warriors enveloping whole planets in their preasence, The outer rim colonies fight these presistant invaders with all of their might The Galactic Senate refuses to admit to the tales of ghost warriors, of returned Sith or of apocalyptic retribution, it is all but a myth to them. HOwever the Senate cannot deny the facts, many outer rim worlds have gone off the technological radar, no communication from them, or ships, any ships sent to investigate rarely return, and those that do return different, touched by something not meant to be seen. The mysterious force has been dubbed "The Dark" and their motives remain mysterious but a definate threat to the well being of the Galaxy.
Meanwhile a deadly force of Sith skeem to take over the galactic republic, hidden in the shadows a powerfull new lord of the Sith waits and lurks, collecting a following of usurpers.
The Jedi respond to this ominous move by the Sith, setting forth an order of Jedi, tasked with tracking down these rising Sith lords and bringing them to no doubt rightly deserved justice. How will the presence of the new mysterious enemy impact the Jedi and Sith groups?
It will be the player's job, their struggle to uncover the mystery of these Attackers, of The Dark, and stop them for the interests of peace and freedom, or perhaps they will try and take hold of the galaxy at war for the interests of the Sith, or rebel imperials for galactic control. Perhaps the player will attempt to join the new foes who seem bent on consuming the Galaxy.
The possibilities for motives are endless in this struggling galaxy, but the threat and the mystery all remain the same. The Dark are coming, and wether it's in a blaze of blaster fire, the glow of a swinging lightsaber, or to the booming noise of a personal battle fleet is up to you.
But the fact remains, they are coming.
-oooh dramatic- This'd require quite a bit of involvement with the mods/ Temporary story crew. It is focused more on plot and suolving the great mystery and all that. This'd mean that the heads of each orginization (republic/Sith/Jedi/Other) Would have to be informed on the overral mystery and will be able to reveal dependant amounts. Judging from what the players have seen.
It could be interesting. It's totally plot driven, while as the first would be Character driven, and anyone could be a faction leader, it'd be a bit more flexible, whatever.
All those names of factions and stuff was just random and rather boring names that have occured to me...so they're all subject to change, for the better. Annnd yeah, work with this stuff, if it interests any of you.

This may sound... strange, but how about coming up with a conclusion and working our way backwords.
What if we just come up with the end results for the RP, something we all agree on, and everyone throws in an idea? We can take something from Guilyn's story line and merge or follow it up with something Armageddon suggests..
It's... kind of weird and difficult to describe..

First of all, and needlessly cynical, "inner rim" is not a term and is inherently contradictory. Those worlds are referred to as "core worlds."
Good, that's out of the way.
I like the first idea, simply because "mystery" RP's are very difficult, for those not in the know, and I'd like to see some of the less experienced (myself included) have a fair chance to develop their skills without worrying if what they're doing is "right."

Indeed they are, hadn't quite thought it through that far. Aye they are difficult. However the first one is grossly generic, and could use some tunning up.

Geh. I've got an idea. How about we just shut up and roleplay already? We've been at this for months now!

Brainstorm! How about this for a plot, it allows all kinds of different char types and (I hope) a pretty decent story with an open-ended outcome:
The Scenario: This RP branches from canon at the founding of the New Republic. Everything is going fairly well for a few years, until a huge corporation, which has been slowly gaining power from Republic contracts, virtually controls it. (Yes, some of this is going to be borrowed from the late MRP.)
The Factions: The Company: Also known as the Galactic Business Consortium, it is an extremely powerful corporation that has seized control of the Republic. They also control a massive paramilitary consisting of genetically-engineered, and force-empowered, troopers, made possible by research on secretly captured Jedi. More recently, they have assassinated the vast majority of their opposition in the Senate, and begun a war on the Jedi, claiming that they were responsible.
The Jedi: Due to harsh restrictions from the GBC, most Jedi had already left Coruscant for less strict Outer Rim worlds. With the recent events, Coruscant has been evacuated and the few Jedi who made it off the planet have spread the word. A council of the remaining Jedi Masters has been called to decide what should be done about the current situation.
The Dark Jedi: Thought extinguished at the end of the Galactic Civil War, the Dark Jedi have been watching from a distance, steadily gaining power and waiting for the opportune moment to strike at the heart of the Republic and conquer the galaxy for themselves. With the Jedi and The Company turned against each other, this is the moment they have been waiting for to begin their assault.
The Citizens' Front: Begun at the very beginning by an insightful Senator, they have been opposing the GBC's growing power over the Republic. Recent crackdowns have forced them underground, and it was decided that the only way to end The Company's choke-hold on the Republic is by military force. A large number of extremely determined and resourceful citizens have flocked to the Front. (They may ally with the Jedi once they meet, or they could decide against the Jedi gaining power, as well.)
Thoughts?

Good.
I think wild card has the right idea. A lot of the problem is apathy I'd think.
People say what you like and don't like so it can actually happen, no more dawdling. -- I like the overrall plot although it may need to have more of a potential for a future, not that it doesn't, I'm just not getting that feeling.
But then again hell, we may get some great characters.

Tweak it! This is the problem, everyone just says, "No, I don't like it," rather than making suggestions. If you like the framework, let's see if we can't draw it out through a few good plot twists! One good one would be for the Citizens' Front to turn against the Jedi, fearing that the Jedi would just be as oppressive as the GBC.

Some inner power struggles wouldn't hurt within the Dark Jedi either, topple the leader and place instead a new one who decides to go about doing things a different way.
I suggest them because they are more suseptable to that kind of thing.

Sounds good. Any objections to this story with these twists, or any other additions anyone else wants to make?

I've scanned over this thread, and I like where things are (were?) going. I'm going to confer with the mods and other literates to find a way to mash things together-- and to draw in the things I liked best. <3
This thread can't be open forever, and as I see that the same sets of individuals post here, I doubt we'll ever get everyone's two bits.
So wrap it up. Chop chop!

Progress! Exellent!
Okay, one thing I'd like to throw in to the mix though.
I've been in many RPs and RP guilds, there are certan things that will often happen especially with big ones.
So many people are posting and doing things that plot wise, nothing actually gets done.
However I've also been in guilds where the Mods will have a thread called "Storyline" and will update it once it seems things are reaching the end of their rope. It will change the playing field a little bit, perhaps, mix things up.
I don't know how you've all done this in the past, perhaps it's already been ruled out.
Of course in a large guild this may just cause confusion...it all just depends how orginized this all will be and how many RPers there will be.
