Where is Nefar? Where is that less than a mouthful ball of feathers? I must concentrate, I do not want to get lost. Must make it back with this flower. Very careful I must be with it. If no others have had luck this may be our only chance to save the bird...

Chael thought he saw a shadow pass over the ground. Looking up, he saw nothing. But it made him realise that they had to watch the sky as well as the soggy ground.
"Have you got that pulpit well hidden, Keelin? I couldn't stand it if it got snatched away from us now."
Looking around Chael realised they really were out in the open here. He hoped the shadow didn't come back because there was nowhere to take shelter from any aerial attacks. The bright side of this being that there was nowhere for mudges to hide in ambush.

"GAAH! Dusta this is a fine mess you got yourself into..." She widdled and twiddled and pulled and poked the vines in her own randomn method. There was never any order to her actions, none at all it seemed. "Gahh hold still, joo are not helpin', not helpin' one bit!" She resisted the urge to just take her hands and pull them loose but if she did, she would be stuck. In her freenzy the pulpit fell back to the ground without her awareness. She didn't seem to notice it at all.
"Almost done I hope." The stick strayed and poked the owl very hard... an accident you think... hopefully. "SORRY!" She stopped and blushed.

Keelin nodded at Chael's question. "yes yes very well hidden." She continued walking and looked up at what Chael was looking at. "What's that? What are you looking at?"

Keelin shook her head. "Er... no.... But we best be careful if we wish to remain safe." She clinged to the bag the pulpit was in.

"Not much further and we'll be out of this marsh. I'll feel like I can at least breathe then. Between looking up at the sky, down at my hooves and all around for mudges and who knows what else, I'm not quite sure what I'm...." Chael ducked his head as a shadow went over again.

Keelin saw it this time too. "What is it?!" She looked around on guard and staying near the unicorn, very very close. "I was hoping the mud was all we would of had in our way... I geuss not."

With the end of the marsh in sight and not wanting to hang around to find out what was flying over them, Chael looked at Keelin and shouted "Jump up! I think we need to get out of here fast. The ground is firmer now, we can make a dash for it."

Keelin looked surprised. She never rode a horse before, let alone a unicorn. Quick thoughts about the myth of having to be a virgin swirled her head. Yes, unfortunately... she was. "Alright...." Good thing she was acrobatic. She leaped up and landed backwards on Chael. Pook clinged to her shoulder, almost falling off.
"Bwud dor jooo crabbi dryind do bwake bleee keellld!!" He yelled in a high pitch jumbled manner.

"Hang on!" urged Chael, not realising Keelin was facing the wrong way. As a large shadow passed over once more, appearing even larger than before, Chael took off at high speed. Being on the outskirts of the marsh, the ground was less sludgy, but it was muddy nonetheless. Chael's big fluffy hooves kicked up mud clods as he galloped on towards the end of the marsh.

"GAH I am TRYING!!" Keelin gripped on Chael's tail, the closest thing she could, with her hooves wrapped around Chael's neck. She was pretty much laying on her belly. "GAAHH!! THIS IS CRAZY!" She sounded both excited and frightened at the same time.

With the end of the marsh within sight, Chael galloped on, dodging rotten vegetation and willing Keelin to hang on just a bit longer.
As they shot out of the marsh and onto the path, Chael almost thought he felt something brush over his head.

Keelin was still grasping on despite how hard it was to ride a unicorn backwards. With all the galloping and holding on she two felt something.
"UH! Chael!!" She said loudly, "What was THAT? Is that normal?!" She looked a little scared.
Pook took to the wild ride fast. Yes, just a second ago he was screaming for his life but now he was having a blast. "bwonci bwonci bwonci!" He sang as he held his slimy paws to Keelin's dress. "Bwun Bwund Bwund!" he seemed oblivious to the danger but with Pook... you never know.

Racing onto the path, Chael slowed his pace and with a deal of effort managed to bring himself to a halt. He could still feel the weight of Keelin and Pook and called back to them asking if they were ok.
