When she finally makes her way over to Kaiya, she moved once more to lean back against the wall. She was much more intent on the fight. Keeping her focus on each movement, each sword-stroke. She just had to pinpoint that singular weakspot every fighter seemed to have.
She flashed a smile at the other young woman, nodding her head. "S'nice to be 'round someone y'know." As casual as ever, she's never bothered with formality. Never a lot of that in Kusajishi.

Rui yawned at the current spar and stood up. He grabed his sword and slid it in it's propper place. Glancing at the fight again he shook his head. It was too boring for him... He could learn to do more that has more time to spend with him.
"I'm out..."
He says as he walks out and heads into the inner city.

The old man slashes downward and breaks the student's attack by simplying breaking the young one's stance. He flips the blade over striking him with the blunt end of the sword and smashes him to the ground.
"Guess you fail..."
The old man cocked an eye brow and looks down at him.
"Go back to your seat... NEXT!"
The old man said aloud. It was unfortunate, he didn't even get a single hit in... in fact that he could break his stance with a single attack proved, that he was too weak to pass...

Seeing her opportunity arisen, Ran steps forward, her hands resting on her dual blades, shoulders shrugging softly as she stretched under the haori.
"I'll go."
Both blades find their way from their sheaths, held somewhat loosely at her sides. She has no discernable stance, no specific pattern to the way she's holding her blades. In fact, its more like the way someone would hold a pair of sticks they'd just been given.
Not looking very promising.

"Sigh, there are only two people left, me and those two girls," he stared at Mai and Kaiya. "And I still don't see any large openings that could be used to defeat him" he thought as he watched the next match closely.
"Maybe feinting would be put to use in this fight," he wondered as he continued to watch, crouched down with his zampakuto next to him. The girl going up looked pretty confident, she obviously looked like a student who was here for some time, a senior even maybe?

James walked back to his seat and sat down sheathing his sword. Great i bloody failed with one attack how annoying. He thought to himself as he sat back down in his seat to watch the next fight.

Mai looked at the man who had just failed. "Poor guy, failing after only one attack" she murmured as she watch one of the girls in the crowd step forward to try. "Finally a girl is going forward" she smiles as she pays close attention.

"Oh, two weapons?... I guess I should try to make things even"
The old man pulls out the wooden sheath and holds it in front of him. His sword in his right hand held back and his left hand holding his sheath directed towards her.
"Lets see if you can do any better than your predecessor."
The old man lets out a small smile... the only problem is... his smile is slightly sadistic... tightning the grip on his weapons he focuses on the task at hand.

The young woman in the haori steps forward, her blades immediately shifting in her grasp, though she still has no discernable stance to her positioning, when she does move forward, she immediately brings her first blade upwards in a diagonal stroke meant to parry the blade and sheath from in front of him, to leave some type of opening.
With the second blade, she makes a sharp thrust forward, planting the balls of her feet as she does so. There is a certain fluidity to the way she fights, her movements almost dance-like, as she seems to pivot, the smile in her eyes gone, replaced by a glint of determination. She doesn't seem like she'll be quite as apt to lose.
(I'll be rolling three d20. One for attack one, another for attack two, third for any potential dodges. I'll go that way for the whole fight, for the time being.)

Megumi looks somewhat disenchanted as he enters the classroom. A delicate, decorated hand comes up to brush the hair from his feminine, beautiful face, if only briefly. The womanly looking man, normally in the elegant robes of his Family, is currently garbed in the standard academy garb. He makes a face. How very, very drab. The shading was off..the tone was all wrong..it wasn't flattering, and really, it had a sort of..mmm. It was unpleasant as far as he was concerned. Still, he was here to train, and not for pleasure..but all life should be a pleasure. He smiles his most beautiful smile, the lipstick adorning his lips making it even prettier.
Raising the eyeshadowed eyes to the ensuing melee, Megumi sighs a soft, whispery sigh. Willowy limbs shift and move in a liquid fashion as the sway of his hips rythmically matches his quiet steps. To anyone watching, and smelling, as he is wearing a very soft, subtle, but detectable perfume..it would seem another girl had entered the class. A flat chested girl, though..he might be given away if someone looked close enough, but at casual glance, and with the way he moves, mistaking him for a woman was very easy.

Kaiya nodded in response to Ran's comment. Before she could add anything else, the boy fighting the teacher had lost. Ran immediately volunteered, and -- intrigued -- she decided to pay close attention to this fight. She knew that Ran hadn't any formal training and was interested in how she would progress against someone who was obviously her superior. As Ran goes on the offensive, Kaiya notices immediately her grace as she fights. Very impressive. Kaiya finds herself nodding, pleased. She might not be the best swordsman, having been only female and not very old at that when she died; but she had lived in a time when the very best swordsman flourished. She had dined and lived with the best samurai that Japan had to offer at that time. She recognized natural talent when she saw it. She liked to believe that she had a bit of it herself. Her father, when she was younger and before the war, had been a hard taskmaster. He hadn't accepted that she was merely a girl. He expected the same amount of effort from her as he would have from a full grown son. As he would have from Yukio...

Megumi gazes over at the other young woman in the class with a sidelong look..then smiles, watching the young strawberry-loving girl go at her sensei with all guns blazing. What a magnificent, if somewhat unpolished attack. There was spark behind that set of movements, and there was grace..though it was untrained. Still, this was no time to be impolite. Megumi turns to the woman who is also watching Ran, and gives a bow..a feminine styled one. He even bows like a woman. It is obvious that he..she..? is of a good family here. Though the uniform is for the most part the same as anyone's, there is a soft and proud bearing in this person..

Catching movement from the corner of her eye, Kaiya glances over to see someone bowing to her. It appears to be a young woman of obvious breeding. Kaiya smiles kindly and bows in return. She really was quite pretty. In a bit of a mood, she wonders why the girl is here. She certainly doesn't look like a fighter. But then, neither do alot of the shinigamis. Some of the most unlikely souls become the strongest. Because in the Soul Society, size and age don't matter. It's an entirely different set of characteristics that are used to judge power. Not the least of which is willpower.
