Weather change! The storm that had been threatening now comes on in full; rain spatters hard against the grasslands, soaking everything. Lightning flashes, followed by thunder. The daytime grows dark, almost as if it were night. Wind picks up, blowing in the faces of the poor souls that may be outdoors.

Yellow eyes glared upward as dark streaks of Taka's mane started to stick to his face. "Somewhere, I'm being laughed at," he growled, soaked to the bone before he could even finish the thought. It wasn't even worth the effort of getting up just yet, seeing as how any attempt to avoid the rain was moot at this point.

He could feel the rivulets of rain streaking past him, coursing along the rocks as they made their way down along the face towards the ground below. It was a good rain, he had to admit. One that would make the Pridelands flourish with foliage and then with game.

The pride would eat well this season.

A slow smirk came across his lips then, a sneer hidden by the damp mane that covered his namesake scar. The pride would eat well... and perhaps with the changing of the seasons, another change would be due as well. Now was not the time... the young cub Simba was too young yet to be away from his mother. He was guarded too well for anything to 'interfere' just yet. However, cubs were known to get rambunctious and wander as they got older. That would be the perfect time for accidents to happen.

Suddenly, Taka found himself laughing in the face of the rain, rolling onto his back for a moment as the cool water coursed over him. To any observing, he likely seemed insane. To his own mind, however, he was perfectly livid... and the pieces were starting to fall into place.

Eyeing Dama in her hot pursuit of liquid, a tiny flicker of a smile made it's way across Kitwana's maw, though the effect was quickly diminished by the rational thought that perhaps now she wouldn't be so sluggish in their escape.
Gaze tempered by a large droplet landing on his nose, the slave turned his eyes to the sky, watching the fat drips of water fall. He could not remember the last time he felt rain on his fur, the cool bliss of the liquid flowing through the caked dirt and blood over his body, refreshing the form of a lion whose majesty had died along with his freedom.
Gradually soaked, the bones of the scrawny adolescent stood out more than ever, cavernous ribcage heaving in the shock of the chill setting through him.

A lone shrug Kitwana's response to Dama's enthusiasm, the young lion made his way to the glistening pool, now covered in sparkling rings as it accepted new additions from the sky, he took a meagre amount, fearful of taking too much, lest the creatures in this land were as savage as his former masters.
Glancing at Dama to ensure her renewed vigour, the adolescent set off once more, pace quick.

Sarafina smiled, leaning down and gently nuzzling her cub. "And where have you been?" She asked while giving her daughter an inquisitive glance and eyebrow raise. "Or more importantly, what have you been up to?"

The lioness' maw turned to a frown, her eyes quickly darting towards the sound of rumbling thunder. As the sky darkened and the rhythmic pounding of the raindrops became even stronger, Sarafina's expression became a sullen reflection of the bleak weather.

She sighed deeply before turning her eyes back to Nala. "I think.." She paused, her mood brightening as her lips curled into a playful grin. "I think someone needs a bath."

the wind blew hard across the grassland, black clouds covered the sky where the thunder roars..Azizi picked up her steps back to the pride rock where she had left to explore the surroundings.
"thup...thup...thup..."
The rain spattered hard against the earth,Azizi shaked off the soaking rain water of her body when she reached the warm, cozzy cave where most of the pride members had gathered there. She walked up to one of the pride's members,Sarafina and curled beside to be warmed while licking at her soaky paws..

Wingu slinks under a broad slab of rock as the rain knocks against her once golden pelt. As of now, it is damp and matted, not at all what the lioness is used to. She lay down, exhausted. It has been a while since she has seen her homeland...

((If anyone wants to reply to this, go ahead. I'm just posting a bit as to keep poor Wingu alive! I haven't been around much.))

Nala looked up into her mothers face and smiled widely, "I.. I havent been up to anything.. actually.." which was the truth, but with her "reputation" even honesty could be a bit hard to believe. "I'm not always getting into trouble!" she giggled, crouching low and playfully pawing a the ground.

Following her mothers glance, Nala too looked out to the dark sky. She stared, hypnotized, by the crisp streaks of lightning that cut through the clouds. Until a certain word snapped her back to attention.

"Bath?!" she stammered, once again looking up at her mother, although this time the giant grin vanished from her face.. Looking around for help, she spotted the soaking wet Azizi coming towards them. "Oh, mama, but- um.. Azizi and I were- we were just going to go play! Werent we, Azizi?" Nala added quickly, with a pleading expression to the other cub who had just laid down beside them..

"Oh really?" Sarafina smirked, laying her paw on Nala's head. She raised a brow and moved her nose close to her daughter's, her eyes gleaming. "That's hard to believe!"

The lioness jerked her head up, giving a startled expression and letting out an odd twitch as the dripping wet Azizi snuggled against her. "Hello to you too, Azizi!" She laughed, looking down at the cub, before turning her gaze back to Nala.

"Exploring? Now?" Sarafina frowned, eyeing her cub, and then the rain pouring outside. "I don't think so!" She grinned wickedly, quickly stretching her front paws around Nala, pulling her close and commencing the licking-fest, er, bath.

Nala felt the weight of her mothers paw on her head. "Ur mussing meh het." she mumbled out of the side of her mouth. Putting her head down, she shuffled her way back out from under the gaint paw. Fixing her fur, she looked up in mock indignation at her mother, which soon broke into a grin.

Nala glanced cautiously at Azizi, "Sure! I mean, this is perfect weather to go on an adventure in.." realizing that confident could help, she quickly added in, "Yes! Great weather, ind- Ah!" before being scooped up...

Sarafina continued licking her cub contentedly. "Nala," she spoke between licks, "It's too.. Dangerous.. Out there.. During such.. A storm."

Lick lick lick. "You could.. Get hurt." She paused, looking down at the young cub. "I don't know what I'd do if that happened," she said as she smiled gently at Nala, nuzzling her.

Large paws padded along the rock, claws gripping tightly as he moved in a mockery of the thoughts which coursed through the dark lion's mind. Taka's head lifted, streams of water sliding down his face from the tangled locks of his mane that hung down limply. He looked towards the tip of Pride Rock, the spot where Mufasa so often sat and surveyed his kingdom.

Mine...

The thought came unbidden, and accompanied the snarl that formed on his face. It should be MINE. An ear-piercing scrape of claws against stone followed as his paws tightened reflexively, the yellow eyes fixed on the place that was HIS birthright, not his upstart brother's.

One would probably tell him that it wasn't healthy to have this kind of vengeance in his heart constantly. Taka didn't care. From the moment he'd set foot in the Pridelands again and had seen his brother taking HIS place... it had been only natural for him to fuel this hatred even more.

One day, he would make that walk to the tip of Pride Rock... as his father had done, and his father before him. It was his right, and he'd been watching it slip through his paws for far too long. With the birth of this Prince, a new plan was forming in his head. Perhaps this was the key to getting what he wanted, after all... if the cub was half as adventurous as Mufasa had been, it would be no trouble to get him out and in a dangerous area. Then it would be up to Mufasa to come and get him.

Grinning wickedly, Taka let his gaze turn to the Northeast and the shadowed crevice that marked the Forbidden Lands. Those were the hunting grounds of the Hyenas, the sworn enemies of the lions. Perhaps they would be willing to help... one outcast to another, after all. He'd approached them some time before, but he'd had no concrete plans then, only groundwork being laid.

Perhaps it was time for him to pay them another visit now that circumstances had changed.

"Mah, yer smussin my 'ead!" Nala managed to mumble out of the side of her mouth. "Mrf, and anyway.. I wouldnt want to go outside right now.. The rain might mess up my perfect coat!" she added before squirming her way out of her mothers paws to strike a rather awkward pose, showing off her now disheveled fur that stuck out in clumps from the bath. "I'm goregeous, arent I Mama?" she said grinning..

Thunder rumbled through the savannah. It was deafening, and seemed to shake the earth its self. A crack of lightning shot through the sky and everything was momentarily lit up. A lion cub wandered lost, and alone. He was drenched to the bone, and very cold. Big blue eyes tried to piece through the heavy rain to find some sort of shelter but Badiri couldn't even see his own paws. Lightning streaked across the sky again, and in the light, the cub saw it. Brush! It was covered in thorns and didn't seem to be very good shelter, but what else could he do..? Badiri stumbled towards the bush and crawled under it, winching as a thorn scrap between his shoulder blades. It seemed hopeless.. Curling up as tight as he could, he shivered and let out a little mew..

Dama shivered as the rain soaked her body, chilling her to the bone. The cool water she'd drank didn't help that matter any either. She watched Kitwana as he took a drink, she noticed he was a little more conservative than she had been, and she felt kind of guilty. She took another drink, glancing at herself in the mirror that the pool made, before catching sight of Kitwana heading off again. Scampering after him, she cringed at the flashes of light, followed by the crashing boom of thunder.

"Kitwana, shouldn't we try to find shelter? Its getting a little scary here...." She hated to say that, but it was kind of scary. She didn't remember ever seeing much like this before... it was unfamiliar and caused her heart to quicken, and her knees to shake each time there was a flash, her head ducking down in anticipation of the rumble that would follow. Surely they needed to find a way to get out of the weather before anything happened. They could go looking for the other pride later, now wasn't the time to be out in the middle of unfamiliar territory. Instinct told her they needed to find something high, and preferably dry. A quick glance about showed a rather large formation of rocks in the distance, but that would take forever to reach....wasn't there anything closer?

"Kitwana, please?" The grey lioness pleaded without having allowed for her companion to answer the first time.

Glancing back at the juvenile as she spoke, Kitwana again raised his eyes to the open heavens, catching a flash of lightning streaking across the sky, quickly met by her brother, thunder.
Shrugging, the scrawny lion eyed their dark surroundings. The most likely spot seemed to be a tiny outcrop of rocks near a large baobab. It looked tiny, but most likely the two half-starved figures of the slaves could fit in tightly.

Angling a nod towards it, the adolescent eyed his companion, wary of her state. If she did not soon eat she'd be a hindrance, and he could not hunt in the enclosing darkness.
"We'll sleep there, kid, but no whinging about cold."
