Ourania had been reaching for Basape, an exasperated speech about personal space on her lips, when Jonas' question made her turn back to look at Fiore. The summoner frowned, retracting her hands from the problematic familiar to try and grasp the hand that Fiore was offering out into a blank space.

The pale young woman gasped, falling back when the beams of light flickered like a supernova over the cafe, surprisingly warm but thankfully not enough to burn. When she dared to open her eyes again, Fiore was gone.

"... Oh dear..." She mumbled faintly, though a series of more colorful words were running marathon in her mind.

Basape hopped off Jonas' shoulder, giving a low whine as he pawed at the place where his Elysian had been but a moment before.

--

Fiore winced at the initial pull, intrigued by the similarity of this trip and the time that she had been summoned. The Elysian patiently waited for the journey to be over, trying to send fleeting thoughts of calm, soothing emotion to her agitated familiar.

She wondered now at her choice, but knew it to be much too late in this odd game to pull back and demand explanation.

Jonas, much relieved to have the familiar off his shoulder, let out a sigh of relief. Then promptly snapped his mouth shut, realizing it was probably a bad time. Quickly his pencil came down, scribbling out all he saw, even a little sketch of the light show and Fiore disappearing. It wasn't a work of art, not in the least despite the beauty of the sight, more like a techincal diagram.

"Hmm... perhaps, you just need to summon it forth again..." Jonas offered the woman, "Most extraplanar beings, do not stick around for too long before they are called back to their home. Perhaps that is what happened here, and you merely need to cast the ritual to bring her forth again."

"No... Fiore would have said something, or at least informed Basape." The summoner glanced at the miserable familiar, picking him up gently and stroking his ears. "I'm afraid I'll have to leave you for now, I need to go to the Temple and speak with the other summoners... or maybe the Guardian. Hopefully someone will know what has happened."

Fear was pumping in her veins, almost sickening as she struggled to understand what had just passed. Why hadn't the Elysian spoken to her? Given her some sort of warning as to what was happening?

She grabbed her coat and tossed it over her shoulders, still cradling the moomba in one arm. The summoner gave one final, distracted: "Excuse me." before rushing out the door toward Barton.

The summoner stopped in mid-step once outside, remembering that she had promised to meet her group in Durem. Ourania was stuck, she couldn't leave without informing someone but she desperately needed to know where her Elysian was.

Therin was a swift mount and it wasnt long before Quinn and Vash arrived at the aforementioned cafe, the rest of her mates following behind. She left Therin in the street with instructions not to wander far and entered the cafe in search of Oura.

She was pleased to see she had arrived safely, but the worried look on her face and the sickly looking Baspe caused shivers of fear to cascade down her spine. Glancing about quickly, her eyes returned to her striken friend and she whispered, "Where's Fiore?"

James shook his head slowly, as he came in after Quinn at the appropriate rendezvous. His head hung low, his shoulders slumped, though the half ogre muscle behind him appeared perfectly fit and not the least bit winded. Slowly he looked up, and the question "Where's Fiore?" rattled his bones. A scowl came to hism beneath his helm, as he gave what he thought was a knowing stare at Quinn, "Can't keep track of your own 'friends'... this is going REAL well..."

Junkan frowned, scowling at the two women there as he listened to the exchange. Slowly he lumbered towards Quinn, leaning close, and sniffing at her, he did the same to Vash, and Ourania, his frown deepening when he finally finished, a low growl coming from his throat.

Odilen followed, mounted atop Kez, with BoCo on her head - they made quite a stack, really. "Fiore...?" She quickly took note of Ouriana's expression and frowned - but at the same time reached subtly for another bit of paper. More dramatic events were afoot, it seemed... and while she wasn't happy about them, it was her self-ordained duty to record them.

Quinn scowled at the sarcastic remark from James and flinched as Junkan began sniffing her. Cowering a little as he began to growl, she looked tenatively at James, issuing a squeeky, "Um... why is he growling?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 26, 2005 11:44 pm

James shrugged, his armor not allowing him to give the gesture properly, but still it was visable enough, "Who knows, he's a fool, a stupid pile of muscle good for little else than bashing and eating... I'd guess the growling, has to do with one or the other..." he told the cowering Quinn, watching with amusement as Junkan moved through the group, finishing up with Ourania and the growl. It was perfect, perfect.

Finally, the ogre straightened up, it really was an inspiring sight, never before had he stood straight and tall. Doing so, right in the middle of the group, made him look like some titan, standing among mere mortals. His eyes were shifted downwards, pointing towards Ourania, and her little familiar, before they swept again over the group. Finally he turned, walking away from them, stopping a few strides away, about 12 feet from them before he turned, and sat in the street.

There seemed something suspicious, moving, crawling over him. It was fast, little more than a red streak, barely glimpse before it dived behind a shoulder again, or behind a leg. Finally, one small, grey eye popped out from behind his neck, a tuft of red orange fur also showing. The eye blinked, then disappeared behind his neck again.

BoCo suddenly let out an irritated "WARK!" in Junkan's direction, startling Odilen and making her stab the pen through the paper. "BoCo! Stop that," she hissed.

"Wark! Wark!" The diminutive chocobo half-fluttered, half-fell off of his perch atop her head and waddled importantly over to the ogre. "Kweh?" he added, tilting his head to one side, looking suspiciously for the orangey thing.

The half ogre's eyes narrowed, and slowly his arm reached out towards BoCo, his hand opened, palm out towards him. The palm of his hand was almost the size of BoCo's entire body, and it seemed as though he could just close his fist and make the bird like creature disappear, should he so wish. However, his hand just waited, inches from BoCo.

Soon, it was discovered why, as the orange, red streak appeared from behind his neck, running down the arm. It moved quickly, launching off the arm, and tackling at the important, loud, questioning chocobo familiar.

"WARK!" BoCo squealed, tumbling backwards as whatever-it-was hit him. Odilen let out an involuntary gasp of surprise and moved forward quickly, then stopped as the tiny chocobo recovered with a squeak and a mighty full-body feather fluff.

"Kweh?" BoCo asked, demandingly. Something was about, and he either wanted to make friends with it or peck it soundly.

And now that BoCo was down, the blur was still, and revealed itself as the small moomba, the color of fire, it had it's back arched, and pawed at the air before it, showing the dangerous skills of the cute little creature. It almost seemed to have a cocky smile on its face, as it approached BoCo...

"Lilith..." it said, it's voice a soft whisper, as it backed up, and hid behind the half ogre's hand again.

"Kweh," BoCo declared, then screwed up his beak in an attempt to say something beyond normal chocobo sounds. How jealous he was already that this orange thing could speak!

"Oh, you have a familiar too? This is, er, BoCo," Odilen told Junkan and the little Moomba. "Lillith, huh? With fur like a little flame... ooh, that's good." She quickly wrote down the phrase on her notes.

Junkan glared, somewhat offended, it seemed, from the anger and annoyance that rolled off his eyes, at this strange creature, and then at BoCo. He rustled slightly, unsettled by this turn of events, so it seemed. His eyes constantly shifting between the woman, and the bird, a low growl building in his throat.

Lilith for her part, peeked out from behind the hand, well, was revealed, actually, when Junkan shifted, but she puffed up, proud, looking like she ment for her hiding place to disappear. She padded over towards BoCo again, closing slowly, before giving the bird a playful swat to the beak.

Odilen stepped back involuntarily, then made herself stand still. Surely the ogre wouldn't harm her directly for just talking to him, otherwise he'd be too dangerous to have in polite company... right?

BoCo squeaked, then fluffed his wings and jumped over the moomba, letting out a chorus of happy playful noises. Playtime was something he could get behind! "Kweh!"
