Birch thought for a moment before he spoke again. "Are you confident starting alone, young man?" he asked calmly. "If you'd like, I can contact an older friend of mine to give you a hand in learning the ropes of being a trainer. I hear he's quite accomplished these days." he offered, wondering if Jacob would like the guidance or prefer to start on his own.
((Mostly a Post to waste for Personality. Answer doesn't really matter unless you want some help. I'd be glad to come to your aid if you like))

When Jacob saw Treeko, he was a bit scared, since it was his first time seeing one up close. But when the Treeko ran over to him and jumped up to hug him, Jacob's fear soon turned to joy as he laughed happily at his first Pokemon's sign of affection. Before anything else could be said, and while he put Treeko down for a second, he was given a couple of pokeballs and a few potions to start out with. This made him smile more, but Birch started to question his confidence on starting out alone. Instead of being cocky about it, he merely smiled and nodded politely.
"Thanks Professor, but I'm sure I'll be okay. And besides, with an awesome Pokemon like Treeko around, I know I'll be fine! Right buddy?" This made Treeko jump up and down and raise a fist in the air happily. "Treeko~!" It yelled, making Jacob laugh a bit and pick him up, setting him on his shoulders as if he were a little brother as he headed out the door. "Well, we'll be seeing ya Professor! I'll come visit!!" And with that said, he left to start his journey.

"Can I have a Mudkip?" she asked.

"Sure you can," Prof. Birch got up and handed her a pokeball.
"Are you sure you don't want to check out the other pokemon first?"
"I'm sure. I studied at the trainer school for a couple of years. I want a Mudkip," she said confidentially.

Professor Birch nodded with a smile, "Of course," he agreed, handing over a Pokeball, Pokedex, and some empty Pokeballs. The ball from his hand flashed for a moment, as the Torchic appeared. The small fire bird chirped out a pleased, "Tor!" at being freed, before joining alongside its new trainer.  or  Female Lv 5 HP-40 Peck-20 Growl-10 Exp (0/15)

"Of course!" Birch nodded with a smile, retreating to the back of the lab for a moment before retrieving the requested Pokemon. "Here you are," he offered, handing Nexus a Pokeball a short time later. "Here's your new partner," he explained, pressing the release on the Pokeball, as the Mudkip emerged, looking up to Nexus with a smile. "If you have any questions, feel free to ask!"
