//It always amuses me in regards to how people join up and just vanish... *Raises a brow.*
[Dune]
Pursing her lips, the woman continued to observe the half-ogre before her for a long while as she tried to make sense of his answer (this turned out to be a futile attempt). She shook her head however and rid herself of the thoughts continuing to run through her mind, instead offering a smile as he enquired as to the exact reason for which she was here.
"I was invited Junkan." She replied calmly, folding her arms across her chest as she continued to watch him. Oddly enough she was always the one to associate with creatures like this but there was never a day when it didn't make her stomach churn...always so strange.
"And yourself?"
[Onion Knight, The Squire and his Loyal Steed]
Onion Knight drew himself up to his full height (which wasn't actually that impressive) and took her hand in his, that then done he began to back onto the dance floor amongst all the dancing couples - the large grin still plastered to his lips. It was true that he had the ability to dance but with one so big there were going to be some difficulties, evidently she was going to have to balance on her crouched toes instead!
Nevertheless Onion Knight began to sway from side to side in time with the music and brought her hand with him until Behebuncle proceeded to roll about on the floor in silent laughter and Roan was forced to clear his throat repeatedly in order to prevent a laugh that so desperately wanted to escape from his lips...

"Well fine." Quinn stuck out her lower lip in a mock pout. "What do you want to do then? We could glide around and make fun of all the uppity nobles... or we could... oooo, we could sneek around and play pranks on people! That would be FUN!" Huggling Oura in delight, she squeeled, "Don't you think so?"

Ourania repressed a snicker; Quinn was always plotting something or other. "Certainly, if you want to, I'll aid you. Let's just try not to get kicked out, okay?" She patted her friend's back as she was crushed in her embrace.

((It's been a very busy week for me, Epee, and I have to wait on responses from others ^^;; ))
Hearing a voice call out "shiney", Zayn looked around for someone else close by but couldn't see anyone. Shaking his head, he turned back to the others. A frown lingered on his face. Did the pouch at his waist seem lighter...?
((No idea if Ghost's shiney-love extends to pilfering, like Zayn, so I'll leave that up to her...))

Catching his eye were two women a short distance from the group, and though he wore no mask that could be seen by one's eyes, he put on a distinctly subtle smile as if a noble who would not allow themselves to be drawn in too far into the festivities. "Did I hear someone say 'prank'?" Curiousity on his face before giving a bow to the pair. "My appologies, my name is Kale. I don't believe I have had the pleasure of getting to know either of you as of yet..."

Mirror sighed heavily. He had lost Zayn and Fire in the gigantic mass of the crowd and it didn''t seem to be that they noticed him at all. Bouncing a bit on his heels, the Al Sylian peered above the crowd and attempted to look for either of his friends again. Where could they have gone? He was about to turn and make a beeline for the tables when he stumbled headlong into Zayn. He looked down, surprised at his luck, "Zayn? There you are."

[Junkan- I feel bad for James getting no love.]
Junkan shrugged, his face showing confusion as he did so. "There food, already killt," he told her simply. After all, why else would he go here? Junkan let out a big yawn, as the music inflitrated his ear, "Sleeepy..." he muttered, his eyes blinking slowly as he shook his head, trying to fight off the hypnotic evil force that was taking him over.
"Why you look... not same?" Junkan asked Dune, his eyes squinting as he looked at the ballroom dress she was clad in. After all, last time she was less... poofy. More hard line, looked strong. She looked wierd, and frail now. Like a rabbit.

Niva smiled wanly, as she let the music wash over her, taking her away from this place, and the crowded ballroom, the people, the sounds, the smells. Her mind drifted off, to a place of her own creation, where everything was this music, shaped by this music, chosen by it. It was a simple place, of simple bliss.
The smile widened on her face, as she continued to listen, blocking out the strange brutish moron, or the others with their strange talk. Slowly she started rocking back and forth with the music, though she didn't realize it.

NivaReikan Niva smiled wanly, as she let the music wash over her, taking her away from this place, and the crowded ballroom, the people, the sounds, the smells. Slowly she started rocking back and forth with the music, though she didn't realize it. ((My character is trying to talk to your...so I guess either you missed the post, or he's the strange brutish moron. No matter, he'll try again.)) The lovely woman seemed in a world of her own, a dreamy smile plastered onto her lips. Beneath his impractical golden mask, Merrick smiled as well. So peaceful was she that it seemed a shame to bring her out of whatever trance she had fallen under...but still, he could not resist asking the lady for a dance. Her daydreaming nature made her only more attractive in his eyes. Gently, he reached a gloved hand out and lightly brushed his fingers against her shoulder. Standing right in front of her was obviously not enough to gain her attention. "I see you are enthralled in this music...it is lovelier than anything I have ever heard. In fact, it is so lovely that it seems a shame more people aren't dancing to it...my lady, would you do me the honor?" It seemed a clumsy way to ask, even for him, and Merrick fully expected to be turned down.

By this time, Odilen had squashed herself happily into a corner and was taking eager notes, eyes darting quickly over all the participants, ears perked for any interesting threads of conversation thatmight drift her way. "Isn't this fun?" she asked BoCo, who was now perched atop her head.
The tiny chocobo yawned and closed his eyes.
((Sorry I haven't been around, I have lots of projects in the mix right now. Hence why I'm keeping Odi kind of on the sidelines, so nobody's waiting on her when I might not have time to play intensively. ^^; ))

Paper had distracted herself with a nice, sparkley gold coin that someone had just left lying around in a pouch on their waist. People these days. They should be more careful about such nice objects. Of course it was only a single coin, but it really was quite shiney. The ghost busied herself with a game of flicking the coin into the air and watching it spin until it landed with a *clink!* on the smooth floor where she would snatch it up and start all over again. Classic amusement. At least for the moment.
The familiar and elysian had wandered closer to their summoner, but were still very much engrossed in investigating the food that was laid out. Genesis found her tiny satchel to be lacking in the necessary space to store her research material, so the avian was forced to eat some of her findings. Waltz, however, was less concerned with research and more concerned with further fattening his plump belly with sweets. So far he was making more progress than his companion.

((i'm terribly sorry for having taken so long to post. gonk from now on it should be steadier.))
Kyada didn't recognize the man who'd suddenly raced over in her direction, but it was quite apparent from his overjoyed reaction that the red-eyed man infront of her did.
As the red-eyed man turned to converse with the new arrival Ky did her best not to eavesdrop, but due to their close proximity it was near impossible and she ended up catching snippets here and there. "So, have you seen anyone else?" the other man asked. "No, not yet," the red-eyed man replied. "Maybe I did.... they'd probably feel insulted..."
'How very strange...' Ky thought to herself. Despite having become completely immersed in all that was around her, Ky hadn't forgotten the small print that was on her invitation. [Keep your senses sharp, for it is on this night that you will meet your future companions.] But it wasn't until just now, sitting before these two men, that she'd felt a small tug on the inside. Could these two possibly be her future companions? She'd fully intended to investigate this feeling further, but before she had a chance to, the red-eyed man was turning back around, and introducing himself, a great big smile plastered across his face.
"My name's Zayn. It's no trouble at all, really." He then lifted up his wing, tugged ever so gently on a brilliant scarlet-gold-and-black feather, and promptly held it up for Ky to accept.
Mesmerized, Ky reached a delicate hand out towards the feather, curled her long fingers around it's base, and brought it close so she could fully examine it. "It's stunning. Truly." Ky said, as she gently stroked the feather. She couldn't have hid her infatuation even if she'd wanted to.
"I can't actually fly though," Zayn continued, a rueful tone lingering on his words. "Just glide. I don't think these humanoid bodies are designed for flight, even with wings. But it's fun, I guess." "You guess?" Ky inquired without moving a muscle, she was still enraptured by the feather. "Gliding, flying, it wouldn't matter to me. Just as long as the wings were usable." She was grinning now, looking thoroughly pleased.
Carefully, Ky attached the feather to the side of her mask, then looked up at Zayn, her eyes sparkling. "So, how does it look?"

Was that money being dropped somewhere? Zayn's shoulders hunched a little, adjusting his pouch so it wasn't as easily accessible.
"Ah, thank you," he blushed as the female complimented his plumage. He couldn't help but puff up his feathers a bit in pride, although he knew it wasn't as though he'd done anything - he'd just been born with them.
He watched as she attached his feather, the colours complimenting her. "That looks wonderful," he beamed, happy to have helped. "I'm glad you like it."
Punch sloshed over the sides of Zayn's glass as someone bumped into him. "Zayn? There you are," the person said.
Turning around, Zayn blinked and then smiled. "Mirror, you're back from Gambino! Did you find anything interesting there?"

//S'alright, I was only making an observation.
[Dune]
As brief as the observation might have been, it was enough to make the rogue smile for she had never anticipated that a half-ogre would notice her change in attire. Evidently, he didn't react in quite the same way as the majority of men would have but it did impress her and after a few moments of contemplation she at last replied to his question.
"Well, due to the fact that this is a party...a masquerade no less it is important that we dress up accordingly - for example," She paused and tapped at his nose lightly, "In theory you are supposed to wear a mask." She finished and shook her head lightly, still oblivious to the events unfolding behind her in the shape of a sapphire clad woman that dressed in very similar attire to the rogue's usual garb!

Masa stumbled a little back and forth, trying to hold her balance as she crouched down whilst Onion Knight led her. He certainly was a good dancer, even with Masa as his lumbering dance partner. The constant smile on her face showed that she saw the funny side of it all, although her cheeks were starting to become a little red as she realised quite a few people were watching them. "Where did you learn to dance so well?" She smiled fondly at Onion.
