Stryphe
It came out as a whine, more than a complaint, "My shoulder hurts like a b***h, Mr.!" gonk crying

That... was something she knew she could do.

"I'm so sorry," Sey said, as she stood on her feet with the help of Alcyone and dried her tears. Her shoulders were shaking with ever intake of breath, but Sey still took Icarus' hand in hers and closed her eyes, holding the back of his hands to her lips and praying that his hurts would be healed. The spirits floated back to her at her beckoning and pushing energy into her body, Sey healed the boy with a mere kiss and stood up; hiding her face from Alcyone or anyone else in the crowd.

"Teshigahara-san," Sey said quietly, keeping her eyes on her hands at her stomach, "Please... Please take me back."

"Oi! Oi! OI!"

Once. Twice. Thrice.

The heavily bandaged 'stick' rapped upon the wooden floor, loud and clear, to go with the familiar voice that all patrons of the tavern had come to know. And disdain. When the owner of the voice was drunk anyway. Which is what Vahn had come back in to do- having seen that mysterious, beauty of lady enter here, after tying up her horse. He was standing directly near the entrance, the looming framework of the large doorways overshadowing him only slightly.

His eyes were staring and resting upon once unruly group in particular. They had just up and gotten way too much Bezelle liquid in them for today, from the way they sorta half swayed, and the half brained looks in their eyes. One of them stared point blankly, and was dim-witted enough to merely laugh at him, before stomaching a rising burp.

Vahn merely stared...a bead of sweat running down his cheek. He was garbed in the Academy's standard uniform, except he had of course tailored the shirt, into a vest, and wore his hair, as usual, in an unruly manner. But it was still plain as day, that he was a Knight-in-training.

"Put the lad down, before I have to get all unruly on yer arses." He said with annoyance, his fingers curling tightly upon the wrapped object that balanced him now. "And beleive me, I do not want to get kicked out of here before I've had me ale. As bad as it is."

The red haired man , looked Vahn up and down, while looking at the scruffy boy he held in his arm who was still trying to kick and scratch him, looking sorely tempted to bite him except afraid of what diseases she might catch. "Let me down you bully" not paying any attention to Vahn but the man holding her was, he was angry and looking for a fight himself "why should I, he is just a runt who needs to watch where he is going anyways"

The man briought a knife up to the boy's neck, drawing a line of blood down his neck, still unaware of the feminine nature of his hostage before growing bored with his game and throwing Kadoria straight behind him as one would a piece of refuse, her only saving grace was being able to twist so the lute was uninjured but she herself was knocked out cold.

The man had found far more interesting prey in Vahn, a knight in training were easy picking he believed, he would have fun with this cocksure young boy, tossing his knife from side to side as he creep towards Vahn like a cat about to play with it's food. "come on little man, show me what the academy has taught you"

Slowly she came to with the help of one of the patrons, who slapped her awake and she ran like the very devil was on her heels, past the fighters and into the streets once more running back to the Temple .Four times in one day she had been tossed aside like refuse! Kadoria crossed her arms and held onto the package, intent on giving lady Seyumi her package back, once she showed back up. She leaned back, the package wrapped in her arms and just waited, hoping she would at least be able to apologize for trying to help the young girl.

Several moments later, a burly drunkard was tossed out the side window, crumpling into the ground, a bottle of ale sticking out of his arse.

Himmley was suprised to see the little girl run up to Icarus had he not taken notice sooner he would of drawn his blade. He was glad he didn't he would never forgive himself for attacking a young person out of nervousness, but still the nagging reminder that he was reacting to slow to things was creeping back into his mind.

Himmley was confused by the the girls actions and was about to ask her to stop, that the boys arms was injured when she grabbed it and kissed the back of Icarus's hand. Himmley was amazed he had heard of magic and that spirits helped mages cast it, but he never before thought that children could do it. He always beelived it took the years and years of training.

His eyes moved up to the woman the little girl was talking to. He recognized something a bout this women but he wasn't quite sure what it was. His mind went back trying to recall any moment he might have seen her but came up with nothing. He looked back to the man that was offering to help Icarus he still hadn't moved moved in any way. Hs mind went back to the woman. Why did he feel like recognized her?

His mind wentback to his training with his father for some reason. It brought back a moment in time in wich his father disguised himself and hid in a town square. Himmley was suppose to spot and capture him, it was one of the funner training sessions he had with his father. He always found his father in a way he couldn't explain as if he sensed him after he got a good look at him in his disguise. His father had told him that 'one's who walk in the shadow see others of the shadow' he never understood its full meaing but he always thought of it as the same way a mother tells a twins apart.

Himmley glanced to Icarus hand so not to seem rude if he was thought of as staring. The girl must have been very important, to have someone like that around her. Maybe she had a special magical gift that was rare in mage's. He was about to smile glad he had found his adventure but rember that the man hadn't left yet and Icuras hadn't spoken yet. he turned to look at the man once more and waited for icarus'answer.

*Yuri rose late in the morning. He slipped out of bed, put on his outer clothing, and began to proceed to wander the streets, looking for excitement and inspiration. The roads were covered with people, though nothing about anyone seemed to pique his interest. He passed through crowded marketplaces, busy streets, and empty alleys. His feet made no sound on the cobblestones, and his movements received no acknowledgement of his existence. His hair rustled a bit, and he heard a small whistling sound. He looked back and saw Sabatini, his battle staff, had shifted, and the wind blowing through it created several tones of great color and beauty. He would never bore of hearing its whistling.

Finally, he found himself lost in his own thoughts, and not conscious of his position. The thought of losing his way in Laburnum was quite scary, considering how unfamiliar he was and how vast it was. He swallowed the lump in his throat, and began to proceed with a quickened step to find a place where he could get his bearings.*

The girl who was shinier than everyone else had come to his aide once again, reacting before the older, kind man could. He only stared as she healed him. He hadn't seen many white mages in his short lifetime, let alone been healed by one. He wanted to know her name. She must belong to a rich family...

...and he needed a bath. But after she healed him and his shoulder was magically set back in place, she'd asked her guardian to go home. Obviously Icarus' fate was of no consqeuence to them- then again, they knew not of his plight. And he wouldn't bring himself to beg.

"Thank you," He whispered to the girl who'd healed him, who seemed to be eager to get away.

Icarus stood up on his own, then smiled a giant smile at the sight of Himmley.

"Him! Long time no see!" He laughed, feeling better. Then the thought of the accident he just caused came to him and he put his hands in his pockets and looked around, trying to find a way out of here. Someone would be here to punish him soon enough, surely. "Um... I think this old man is a nice guy, though. You should calm down."

Then he looked to the old man with hopeful eyes.

Nyman took in all that had happened. Magic was all about today; the spirits must have been feeling jovial.
But as for the other boy, Nyman now had another item to add to his long list of "bizarre reactions to kindness."

The girl was oddly familiar though, so was the whole entourage. They had to be high up in society, Nyman only remembered customers if they asked him to do a huge presentation. Party because those shows were enjoyable to do, but mostly because they kept him eating for a while after.

"This commotion still hasn't died down. Most of these merchants are looking for someone to blame." Nyman looked at both of the boys, "Leave on your own or come with me. My work is over, I'm going to eat and rest. Both of you can chose your own paths, that’s what you have a brain for."

Nyman began to walk towards his cart, but he wanted to do one more thing. He glanced over his shoulder towards the Girl and her protector.

"Your kindness is appreciated, but this place is not safe for anyone right now. You should listen to the ones who care about your well-being. " Nyman had slipped back into the language of his eastern roots. His accent lacked the many years of refining as the Kaikou's speech. His tongue was as rough as the mountains he had grown up on, yet it was still imbued with the comfort of the very same small village.

But his cart was still waiting.

Himmley smiled instead of laughing a long with Icarus, not sure why he couldn't bring himself to laugh. "Well if you guess it's alright.." He turned to look to the man something was unsettling about him. Icarus had just use magic with haste all because he was afraid of something and this man didn't seem to worry about it. Maybe he was trying to be nice and Himmley was thinking to far into it. Then again his father had acted mutch nicer around Himmley when he discovered Himmley's throwing talent. He would tag along for as long as he could, he didn't want other people to suffer the same past he had.

"..." Sey didn't know what to say. She nearly hurt her brother because of her own lack of self control, lost a 10,100 gold kimono, got Lao in trouble and all she could do was sit there and cry. It was best to just stay silent.

Her vision was blurry. Her brown eyes glanced about wildly at each sound, every voice, trying to make sense of what was going on around her. Tiel knew the swimming colors above her had to be Francis's face, but beyond that, the world was uncertain.

The girl shivered as she was set down on something hard. Wood? Cold, flat, smooth....the surface ended at the joint behind her knees, leaving the ends of her legs to dangle over it. If Tiel could move enough to do so, she would have curled into a little ball atop it. As it was, though, her legs felt like so much wood - a useless weight that happened to be attached to her.

She managed to roll onto her side, and make a pillow of her hands. With a small whimper, Tiel closed her eyes, hoping her vision would return to her when she opened them again.

Francis laid his master's daughter down on a small table nobody had wanted. The business hours were over; the oil that was spilling all over the market floor had scared most of the customers the way, shutting down the market as surely as the sunset marked the end of the day. Most of the vendors were already shutting down and going home. With the oil everywhere, it was dangerous to leave wooden furniture here much longer...even more dangerous to leave Master Brooks' daughter here in such a state. So, accomplishing as much as he possibly could in one trip, Francis picked up the table and began a slow, careful walk towards the master's house.

*Yuri slumped against the side of a building in an abandoned alley. The sun was setting, and he still hadn't found his way back to the inn. How was he supposed to write if he doesn't have any parchment, and where would he sleep? He sighed as if his body had no breath left, and his thoughts were cluttered with worry. "Is there anyone around?" He thought sadly. He didn't want to die alone, lost in the vast city. Then he woke himself. "Stop it with the melodramatics, Yuri," He told himself. He was so wrapped up in his self pity that he didn't think that he should just keep looking for his inn, or die trying. He laughed, realizing that his sarcasm made it all the easier to allay his fears, and figured that if he just continued to be optimistic, he would eventually find it.*

Unfortunately, running wildly through a crowded street with something held in your arms - causing you to lose the balance usually gained by swinging your arms - did tend to make one trip. As Kadoria found out.

As she run through the street, a bluish pole snaked out from a crowd of people and tangled up her feet, causing the disguished young woman to go sailing through the air. And, if not for the hand that lightly grasped her arm, she would have crashed straight into the flank of an oncoming horsey.

Coming to the rescue of the bard whom he had just tripped, came Oliver Squalle. As she fell he swiftly, yet lightly, grasped her arm and pulled her back up - pulling her back to him while spinning her to play out the momentum she had gained from her run. At the end of the little ordeal, they came out in a 'hug': his spear, and her package and arms smushed between them, and his strong arms wrapped around her. Rather than the obligatory, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Oliver just quirked his head to the side and raised an eyebrow, his sea-green eyes barely visible from beneath the brim of his hat.

" 'ey...s'you."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 05, 2004 7:45 pm

She fell forward as she was tripped, catching a glimpse of the blue tinted pole arm. She had paid close enough attention to know who it was but at the moment her concern was not falling into the street. Lucikly her attacker was also her savior and spun them both as he grasped her arms, leading them back up so he was hugging her frame.

And then he had the gall to simple say 'ey...s'you.' Of the nerve, her jade green eyes looked up into his and she had to blink in astonishment, the clarity and hue of his eyes tweaked her interest even as she blushed. Looking back over her shoulder to make sure she wasn't being followed by the bully from the tavern. She glanced back just in time to see him fly through the window and into the street with a bottle stuck in his arse. She quickly turned her head to look back at Ollie, grinning a bit "Aye it's me"

The sweaty wisps laying against her face as she looked up at him, her own eyebrow arched as her eyes took him in, he was bigger than her, she would either have to wait till he released her or she got in a better position. "You can let me go now?"

"Right-o..."

Oliver stepped back as he released her, leaving one foot where it had previously been. That foot became the recepticle of the package and the spear, both of which were promptly flicked back up into the air with a jerk of the Squalle's foot. As Ollie caught his spear and spun it back to its typical place on his shoulders, his opposite, free hand darted out and caught the wrapped up clothes.

Turning the package over in his hands a few times, Oliver bounces it up and down to judge it's weight and texture. Finally, after sufficently sizing it up, he looks at her with a smooth smile and asks,

" 'n the 'ell is this?"

...he kind of expected her to say, "Mine."
