((The two doors to the large mausoleum are not trapped, and they are slightly ajar, with scratch marks from what seems to be digging equipment, perhaps crowbars. You both see this))

Dwayna DragonFire ((I'm looking at the small one so...)) Search: 1d20 + 11 Result= 13 + 11 = 24((You see on the door, in faint writing, the name Chahir, written in ancient Thorass script. If you have Knowledge Local you can attempt a check to see if you remember anything about the name. You also notice the door to the mausoleum is plastered shut.))

Finally finishes his ritual, Dimitri joins up with everyone else. Watching some of them searching for something around the smaller mausoleum , while others stare intently at the larger one Dimitri decides to join in. They all seem to be rushing....oh well, I guess I'll just take my time on both. More to look at in the large one...guess I'll start with that first. Starting with the larger of the two, Dimitri focuses his eyes and studies ever last inch of it.
((Takes 20 on spot))

Mostly because taking 20 means you can keep trying until you succeed. Spotting is usually to see something without trying. If you're activly looking for something, you're searching, which is something you can keep doing and therefore take 20. But, in the case of spotting, I'm not sure that you can. It probably depends on the situation, and I am not sure what exactly the need for a spot check was for in this case. I'm just chiming in my opinion, so I hope it doesn't bother you or the DM, but to focus your eyes and study the door seems more like "searching" than "spoting" to me.))

((Actually, the name Chahir does not ring any bells with you.
Spot is something you can only really take ten, because it's a pass/fail type thing, like disabling a trap. Search however, you can study something and take a twenty, since there really isn't anything to pass/fail at, it's just a question of time.))

somewhat disappointed, I turn back towards everyone "well, from the looks of it, these crypts have been invaded. It is doubtful there is much inside, most likely it was simply graverobbers, but it is possible that the Drow are in here. What have you discovered over there?"

Velris the Blade ((unless you have points in Knowledge (Local), the highest DC you can succeed on is DC 10 )) unless... you have jack of all trades as a feat like me... I treat all trained only skill as if I had a rank... but i don't get the bonus of that rank... and technicly you can't make untrained knowledge checks unless the dm house rules it in/ some other rule i do not have in my books...
