Mer laughed. "That it is," he said softly, his voice trailing off as he reached up to tuck the reddish bangs behind the other's ear, his hand lingering there.

Machus blinked once at the gesture, though really didn't try to do anything to stop himself from leaning into the touch as it lingered. After all, he... didn't really mind the gesture, so long as it was Mer.
What the hell am I thinking?!
Not that the thought offered any incentive for Machus to move.

The chickadee colored fox flushed a little bit and removed his hand, snorting as the piece of hair instantly fell back down. "Well, that was futile," he murmured, gazing at Machus.

Chuckling lowly, a grin spread across the auburn fox's features. "Oh, poor Mer. But all that matters is that you tried," he crooned in a mothering tone, clicking his tongue.

Mer scowled at him and then leaped up, pouncing on him and pinning him to the ground. "Yes, I did." He pushed the hair off Machus' forehead, pleased as gravity kept it from his face. "There."

Machus blinked as their positions were suddenly switched and he was again lying on his back. Arching an eyebrow as the other again brushed the hair from his forehead, seemingly satisfied that it no longer fell back, he snickered. "Satisfied now?"

The other fox hesitated for a moment. Who knew when he'd get another chance to leave the pound. "No," he said softly, shaking his head. "Can't say I am..." He lowered his head, his muzzle nearing the other's, his heart pounding.

Arching an eyebrow at the negative reply, Machus began to open his mouth in inquiry. The question never left his lips however, the fox noticing the other drawing nearer. Not that he minded it, oh no. Rather, he supposed it would be a pointless question that, at this point in the game, really didn't need answering.

Mer closed the distance between them, brushing his lips against the other's. He held them there for a moment, then quickly sat back, his white cheeks tinged red. "I'm sorry, that was rather bold of me," he stammered.

Machus licked his lips absently after the other fox pulled back, amused smirk twitching at his lips for a brief moment before he sat up as well. "I'm not necessarily complaining though."

Tilting his head, a chuckle slipped from Machus's lips. Leaning over to brush his lips against Mer's in a quick kiss, he drew back with a smirk. "What's there to apologize for? Now we're even."

Mer eyes widened, then he too laughed. "I guess we are. Unless.." he crouched for a second, "I do this~" and pounced on the other.
