Whatever Alex's reaction to the new tidbit was, positive wasn't it. His eyes widened the tiniest mote as his lips pressed together in concern - he had no care and no stomach for violence, either the sight or thought of it. Not mere queasiness, but a deep philosophical aversion. "But--this is a public... we're causing a scene..." the small, breathless excuses wound into silence as he looked up to find some authority figure, some cause for interruption of the growing brawl - only to find that while they'd gained a couple spectators, most of whom appeared not a little bit incredulous, not one of the crowd had made a move to put an end to the fight.
This was doing nothing for his nerves.
There were a variety of options here. It had become knife-edgedly sharp that he was on his own here, either because Ambrose was amused or because Ambrose felt Peregrine had no right to claim employment if he couldn't take care of himself. Which the angel found infuriatingly ridiculous, either way. However, his opinion wasn't going to help him get rid of the brutal little pest - or--oof.
Knocked off balance, Peregrine seized Skittles under the arms and threw the both of them out the door and into the street, once more pulling himself to his feet, hopefully for the last time. As long as they were off the property of M'lady's, he couldn't be punished for whatever he ended up doing to the child. No. Not a child. PEST.

Vain eyes went flat as it suddenly went out the door. "Public is good Alex for multiple reasons; witness means both will behave and no one will be hurt." He glaze settled on angel. "I'll break them apart..though the p***k deserves it," he muttered voice low as he drifted out the door and down the steps in a slow motion.
The fox's eyes went wide as his arm was seized and suddenly thrown out the door. He broke apart with a whirl, hand rubbing his arm. "That hurt.." he said softly, fingers rubbing at the forming bruise on his delicate pale skin. His eyes lost their playful cast becoming a deep red. "That wasn't nice."
His eyes flickered to the others neck, a hungry cast appearing in them. "You smell good, like a gooey cookie..I haven't had a cookie in a while." He smiled sharp little teeth showing. "Still want to play cookie?" He voice husked taking a low and sultry tone. "Or will you give me the feather?"
Great..Skittles was hunting now. His eyes roamed onto the others face. "I suggest you go back inside Peregrine." He said walking slowly towards them. Quick movements would just attract the predator instincts rising to the surface. What had caused this change in behavior? His eyes fell on the fox and he gave a little hiss at the bruise; Skittles skin was delicate a by-product from the DNA engineering.

All right. Point. But still... violence. It bothered him.
Arms crossed firmly across his chest, shoulders drawn up ever so slightly, Alex realized only belatedly that the tussle had rolled - almost literally - outside. Following quickly, he searched for a means of breaking it up - bucket of water was traditional, right? Better to be proactive than a useless worrywart...
He'd been hoping to tackle the pest again, grab him - fly up, over a few rooftops and drop him in a lake or something. But if Skittles' charge was finally going to take control, so much the better.
Only he rather liked the idea of doing something to the little creep that wouldn't be forgotten. A lesson of searing magnitude.
...He could handle that latter. Brushing dirt off his sleeves, Peregrine looked at Vain with an expression that was both baleful and imperious, "Have you considered putting him down? Red eyes and jumbled speech are both likely indicative of rabies." Not waiting for a response, Peregrine moved quickly back towards the door. He wasn't stupid - those comments wouldn't do the creature's mood any good. Assuming it had understood him.
Okay... So what was up with Skittles?

Peregrine did not react well to the second bout of violence - though admittedly this one was a tad less threatening. Except that it was keeping him from inside, which was a tad less than safe. People like this... this Skittles, and his watcher... shouldn't be allowed on the streets. Or outside at all. They were the reason people like Peregrine got jobs that attempted to do just that. This brawl wouldn't be the end, oh no...
It would be, though, if he didn't give a little and admit that he wasn't safe antagonizing the two any further. At least not without back up. Making no other indication that he had heard or understood Vain, Peregrine moved aside, watching the demon with an acidic glare. Stupid, arrogant cad looking after a beastial...
Beastial...
"My God," Peregrine murmured darkly, under his breath, staring at the unfolding confrontation before him with a sudden interest. This was... terribly familiar. Only the creatures were in broad daylight... which befuddled his logic somewhat. But Gaia was a strange place...
"Uh..." said Marks in primal eloquence, "So?" Okay... apparently Vain had gotten the impression that he cared.
Goody.
Be fun to disillusion him of that little fantasy later. Or now. Whichever. "You don't carry tranqs for these little outbursts, do ya? I mean, how often does he go all... whatever," he made a vague gesture towards Skittles, quite aware that the situation was no time for idle chitchat and having an absolute ball doing nothing in the name of a solution.
He wouldn't care to what? Oh God... What exactly did Vain have in mind? At least Peregrine wasn't in any further danger of death--wait, what? Since when had Peregrine's safety been a concern? Since he'd started getting in trouble...
It was a strange thing... They were the same age, a few bare months apart, but as Alex had been the elder brother's friend, he'd never been able to see Peregrine as anything but far younger. Ah, adolescent arrogance. Until it'd been too late...
To distract himself from the latent instinct to lecture Peregrine about provocation, Alex turned his focus to Marks - who certainly needed looking after, it seemed. It had been a good way to focus, come to think of it... Marks always looked for trouble, thrived on it, reveled in it - and the need to keep him out of it had kept Alex from dwelling on whatever horror he might otherwise have to contend with. "Stop it," he said sharply at Marks' back - "Leave it alone."

Red eyes flickered from their previous focus at the glimpse of movement. They followed to the demon gliding towards him, uncertainly touching the beastial glaze. Fur bristled out, a steady hiss sounding in warning as he puffed up, the blue and green streaks in his hair suddenly trembling moving as if searching.
Vain gave a low chuckle. "That not going to work Kitten. I've seen that trick before." He approached slowly. "I know the nasty man made you angry. He's just a arrogant self righteous p***k not worth it." His warm voice took on a soothing coo. If he could just calm Skittles enough that he did have to resort to violence against him. He did not want his charge to spook; faiths above trying to calm the kit after the pack leader incident had been such a chore.
"Come on Kitten it's all right." The demon stopped eight feet away giving the fox room to maneuver. He rather not chase Skittles down if he bolted; strange still that Skittles became this work up, the change might be to blame and incident with the naga had left Skittles twitchy. Perhaps nerves had finally gotten the better of him, he would just have to keep Skittle under surveillance for a day or two till it was figured.
Skittles shifted from foot to foot, a low whine escape his throat. His ears flickered at the voice but his fur nor hair settled down. His fingers tensed moving slightly at the demon neared.

....Even if they weren't vampires, they were damned upsetting creatures. He wouldn't say a thing just yet, just watch now, to glean any information that might possibly be useful in the future. For Peregrine was dead set on a future meeting with this troublesome pair - under entirely different circumstances, yes. Something a little more to his advantage and a little more deadly and/or permanently disabling to them.
See, he saw all the sense in not making any sudden movements right now... but the thought of Skittles freaking out in this state just made him all warm and fuzzy inside. So... couple of options here. Fire a shot into the air... but that'd waste bullets and be instantly incriminating. Shove Kingsley's brother closer, see what came of that... but that'd take all the satisfaction out of doing things to the a** himself. Or he could have Rob do it for him.
Ha.
"Hunh," Marks muttered, crossing his arms, eyes narrowed at the deadly, stunted dance. "That can't be good."
Alex, more than a little distressed and now specifically because Marks had... kind of listened to him but not really, fell right into it, "What?" quick, frantic voice.
"Nothin'," Marks shook his head slightly, still making a show of focusing on Skittles movements, "Just getting the impression tranqs woulda been a real good idea..." he trailed off, something he was not normally wont to do. "I think he's gonna gut him."
There was a tone unique to those who infrequently say what they really mean - something that sounds only halfway serious, and for that reason tends to carry deadly weight. Alex was no stranger to hearing that tone from Marks, and the whisper of it now...
No... This wasn't... it couldn't be allowed to... escalation... hurt... unintentional disaster... As Vain approached and Skittles failed to calm, the frenetic of the worry inside Alex built to an inescapable boil, "Don't!" he shouted, involuntarily moving forward two steps, wings spreading sharply, instinctively. Realizing what'd he done - damnably late, as ever, the bird froze and clapped a hand over his mouth.
Damn.

Absolutely feral. The putting down bit was looking more and more accurate phrasing-wise.
Absolutely frozen. Inside, all sorts of things shivered, shook to their very foundations, as Alex stood and stared, all sorts of passions and fears he'd thought so dead and abandoned roaring to life. Fear of helplessness, fear of pain - in or around him. Leading to the opposites of those fears, the balms - the belief in trust, in unconditional love, in weakness in the evidence of closeness. Terrified that what he now saw could crumble, not only because it would mean there would be hurt, but because it would suggest the dissolution of something greater than mere instinct.
Silent prayers echoed through him, begging for the moment to turn aright.
Absolutely no fun, whatsoever. He'd just have to try harder next time. At least he'd been able to get the reaction he'd wanted out of Rob - though that could never be difficult, considering their past...
Screw it. If it's gonna play to your advantage, why fight it? Because giving in last time cost everything. Never again.
Marks shrugged a little, a meaningless gesture, crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at the shivering duo. If Skittles didn't really go batshit soon, this was going to get anti-climactic. Great.

Shivering was a good sign, then he would remember, cry and fall asleep in that order. Vain closed his eyes grasping the small wrists together in one hand and ran his wrist swiftly across the sharp points of Skittles sharp tiny nails. The scent of blood blossomed and he felt the fox stiffen and then the feel of a mouth over the offered wound, the full relaxing of Skittles body and relief fell over him in a wave.
He braced himself for the tears, looking down at the feeding fox, eye lashes in the same dark purple as his hair dark against the paleness of his cheeks. Yeah..Marks would pay for that little move. Peregrine as well, the other had his instincts on edge. They need to find somewhere safe..
At the first taste of red ambrosia he had calmed the familiar taste, scent, and smell of companion washing over him, enwrapping him in a tight embrace. He sucked from the small little wounds, teasing it open with his teeth when blood refused to flow.
Ouch...damn those little teeth.

It was good to keep a sliver of doubt. The creature might simply be a total loss to society, a feral monster with the trappings of civilization, one calmed only by the blood.
Or he was a vampire, and that was much simpler to believe. Except that... the sun was still out... Fine, setting, yes, but it was hardly dark enough for the leeches to be up and at it.
Sacrifice. It just kept getting worse, didn't it?
Pessism tested the water and strove to drown hope for reconciliation. If this all fell apart...
...Interesting... If Vain was going to offer up his blood that quickly, it suggested that where they'd come from the bloodbond wasn't nearly so much of a reality. Even a possibility. Something useful to keep in mind with regards to other vampires... "You gonna need a bandaid?" he called out.

The bird started at the address, mind crashing back into the shore of here-and-now. "Ah..." oh yes, absolutely helpful, "I don't--Peregrine?" The other be-winged one had a little more experience with this area - surely he wouldn't deny a request for help?
Although he was concerned by this request for something filled with water in regards to a vampire, that concern did not override his feeling of offense. Looking over each of the four who had managed to cause him so much trouble, Peregrine took in their features, expressions, stance... Descended the steps and walked away.
Marks snorted a little, "Saw a fountain on the way here - c'mon." And he too descended, beckoning over his shoulder to the other three.

Vain lifted Skittles easily, stroking the blonde ears calming the fox down. "We'll find somewhere safe and you can take a long nap," he said following Marks. Hmm seems he had made an enemy today. Peregrine would have to be watched.
Skittles hid his face into Vain's vest, trying to hide the little rosy color tear treks running across his cheeks. He didn't know the meaning of embarrassment nor felt it. Instead he felt a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach, a sort of void that he had created by loosing control. In front of everyone as well.
