"Alright!" Mayu called from over her shoulder, already disappearing into the dimness of the hallway. She trotted down the corridor until she reached the left hallway, making a turn. First room, alright.
She wondered if this room would be guarded as well, though it seemed a bit unlikely that they would guard such a room. The door didn't even look strong, unlike the others she had passed on the way.
Peering into the room, Mayu looked about -- she was right, no guards. The dagger was sitting in the corner, amongst stacks of armor and weapons. Picking it up, she returned to the hall and waited for the boy to come.

Demare watched as Mayu disappeared into the hallway, then turned to look at the man with a smile. There was something different about him, however. There was a mischevious glint in the child's white eye, a hint of evil somehow.
"Actually, you are," he told him in a bit of a sing song voice. "You won't be bothering us anymore."
The halfling lifted his left hand into the air, a small ball of light forming in the palm of his hand.
"What are you doing?" Dante demanded to know, struggling against the shadows still. His eyes widened a little bit as he noticed the light getting brighter.
The child looked to the woman for a moment.
"You guys rely on your eyes to see, don't you? You can't follow us if you can't see."
With that, the light continued to grow brighter, Demare's right eye closing as the left watched. The light began to grow larger, intensifying the brightness. He merely listened as he could hear at least the man cry out while he squirmed.
He then tossed the light into the room and closed the door, allowing the ball to simply grow and get brighter. Eventually, the two would become blind, as eyelids wouldn't be able to shut the light out forever.
He started down the hallway, a bit surprised that he didn't hear Mordanath's screeching. If Mayu had gotten him by now, surely he would have done so. Unless... the dagger had somehow taken a liking to her.

"AUGH!" Lillian cried out as the light filled the room. She was suited to darkness, and rarely ventured out into the open. And on the occasions when she had to, she had always stayed in the shadows to keep a minimal amount of light from ever reaching her.
To sum it up, she did not like light, at all. Squeezing her eyes shut, she prepared herself for the worst as the light grew brighter and brighter.
Mayu sat cross legged, dagger placed to the side. She was wondering when Demare would show up, so they could leave the stupid building already. Stifling a yawn, she rocked back and forth as she waited for the boy.

Demare rounded the corner only a moment later. He smiled, holding a hand out to Mayu to help her up if she wanted it.
"Ready to go?" he asked as a bit of a joke, relieved to finally, hopefully, get out of this place. It was probably getting a bit late, and he didn't want to make anyone worry.

Mayu got up by herself, handing the dagger to Demare.
She nodded, glancing up at the dim lights once more. She couldn't wait to get out of the building, the sterile feel of the place giving her the chills. "Alright, which way should we go?" she asked, stretching.

"Since the last time we'd gone right, perhaps we should take the left?" he suggested, taking some of the bandage from his right arm and wrapping it around his waist so Mordanath could rest by his side again.
It didn't take the two long to find their way out of the building, running into a dead end only once on the way. It was actually a bit strange; the moment the door closed behind them, the place they were in was no longer in sight. All that was around them was the forest, the children right back where it all had started: at the barren cherry tree Demare had wanted to show Mayu.
"It's been... quite the day," he breathed, turning his eyes toward the sky. There still seemed to be some time left in the day, but it was hard to tell exactly how much.

"Sounds good," Mayu nodded, and followed suit. She winced as they exited the building, the natural light being significantly brighter than the dim lighting inside the halls.
"Sure has," the Legend agreed, glancing towards the sky. "It's getting late, maybe we should go back?" she suggested with a shrug. The sun was hanging low in the sky, and the clouds were beginning to turn a warm orange.

Demare still felt responsible for all that had happened, but felt a bit of relief that everything seemed to be over. Thinking for a moment, he lifted his arm a little bit in case Mayu wanted to be escorted again, starting down the trail to head back to the park.
"Was there anything else you'd like to do before we go?" he asked curiously. "I know we've had quite an adventure, but... no harm in asking, right?"

Mayu linked arms with Demare again, still gazing up at the sky. She would remember to ask Kimiko to take her to this park again, it really was a nice place.
"Nope, nothing that I can remember," she replied, after thinking through all of the events that had happened. "What about you?"

"Well..." He gave it a little thought. It was late enough now, and there probably wouldn't be too many people left in the park. "There's a little pond not too far from the trail, and a fountain near the playground. We could see those another day, though, if you'd rather go home."

Mayu thought about it for a moment, then shook her head. "It's getting close to sunset, we'll visit them another time."
Assuming there would be another time -- if Kimiko found out about the kidnapping and all, she would be fuming. She had been spying on them earlier as well, which proved that she didn't trust the boy.

Demare nodded, peering around for a moment as they exited the forest.
"Shall I walk you home?" he asked.

Mayu nodded. "Yeah, that would be nice."
She remained relatively quiet for the duration of the walk back to Neko's house, seeing that the large crowds of people had pretty much dispersed by sunset. One thing different from Durem, she supposed.
"Oh, they're back." Kimiko looked up as the children approached the house. She was quite skilled at seeing things out of the corner of her eye. "Took them long enough. It's been, what, 7 hours now? What can a boy and a girl do at the park, anyway?"
She stopped to think on her last statement, groaning. "On second thought, don't answer that question.

As they approached the driveway, Demare stopped for a moment. The day was finally coming to an end... Mayu would go home, and that would be that. He looked down at her, and he found it hard to smile right then.
"I'm... sorry about today," he apologized. "You seemed to get hurt because of me, so perhaps I'm not much better than Demian. I'll understand if you don't want to see me again."
He reached into his pants pocket, pulling out one of the white flowers they had seen earlier. Somehow, he'd managed to protect it, the flower being hardly damaged save for a little bit of the stem. He'd picked it while she wasn't looking, having been able to reach just far enough to grab one of them.
"I, uh... I got this for you..." the halfling got out, holding it out to the girl. "Perhaps if we do see each other again, the next time will be better."
"Are you sure?" Neko teased, peering out from the kitchen. "I could answer it. It wouldn't be plausible, given they're still just kids, but it's an answer!"

"Hmm? I'm perfectly fine." Mayu gave Demare a confused look, then smiled. She thought for a moment, then reached into her pocket, pulling out a small notepad and a pen. Scribbling a few numbers on the pink paper, she tore the page out and handed it to him.
"That's my phone number. Call me sometime, okay?" she grinned, placing the note pad back into her seemingly endless pocket. She blushed as she accepted the flower, sticking it behind her ear as she had seen people do on television and in movies. Standing on tiptoes, as hard as that may be in platform sandals, Mayu hugged the boy tightly and gave him a small peck on the cheek.
"Thank you!"
"Fine, I'll humor you. Answer my question." Kimiko laughed, turning her back to the window.
