Snapping back into reality, she found herself at the edge of the maze, her eyes widening slightly that she had to find herself here. Trembling, she backed away from the structure as if it wanted to kill her, turning on her heel and running towards the rocky hillside by the river where she had sat after returning. When Kenshin....Shaking her head, she choked back a sob and tried to wipe the tears from her stinging face. No...Don't think about him....Just forget, its better for everyone if you do. Namuni tripped and splashed into the waters, slightly stunned from the impact. "Wei shen me? Wo hen bai chi le wei shen me? Ni zhi dao." (Why? Why did I have to be so stupid? You knew.)"
Sitting up now, she let the shadows rise up around her, changing her clothes from the dirty, tear-stained ones she had been wearing. When they faded, her hair was different, the color a pure white, the length shorter. Namuni felt her eyes had darkened from the bright gold they had been, now as if they had been charred. Pulling a flute from the sleeve of her kimono, she began to walk up the hill so she could overlook the mansion, playing a mournful song, her pain and guilt and fears leaking into the tune filling it with such feeling.

She wasn't easy to lose, as her feelings were giving off a strong disposition in the natural atmosphere. He felt her pain in him, and he followed that to his advantage. He followed the rocky path up to the landing and turned before the entrance to the maze. He followed the rocky path to the hill top. Kenshin quickly located her and approached, using caution not to embarrass her any futher than she already had been. "Namuni", he called. "I....I'm sorry... It was my fault. Please understand. Don't leave this place, I still hold a promise to protect you, remember?" His hand touched her shoulder. A breeze carried his long hair into the wind.

(In the not too distant forest) X Arwen X Arwen stepped back as he moved closer, still not fully trusting him. "Kenshin, I…" Arwen stammered, twisting her wedding ring around her finger nervously. "I want to forgive you…but I couldn’t take being hurt again...it would kill me.” She kneeled down in front of him, tears still trickling down her cheeks. "When we married you made a promise...we both made a promise to eachother that no one would come between us...Does that still stand?" Arwen said trying to hold back her tears.
"Now please, dry your tears, do not cry Lady Arwen. You don't want anybody to see you like this." He said, with disregard to his own. He wiped the tears from her cheeks and pressed his lips upon her forehead. "You have my word," Kenshin repeated,"but the lady stays. I made her a promise. She must be protected, for she has suffered the wrath of Hell, and I fear the worst, that it may be my demon father's doing. She needs shelter, and can only afford my help and Chi's, the help of someone who knows how to vanquish that sort of evil. As difficult as it is a time right now to say this, you'll have to trust me." Kenshin had a look of true concern and love behind that stone face but nonetheless, he did his best to act strong.

Arwen closed her eyes and nodded, standing up slowly. She opened her eyes and looked deeply into his. There was a great height difference between the two, Kenshin towering over her at 6'2", and Arwen standing at only 5'6". She stood on her toes and placed her soft hands on his cheeks, wiping away his own tears.

The last note sang out to echo over the land, her hand placing the flute back within the sleeve of her kimono, her head remaining bowed. Namuni was silent for a moment, finally opening her eyes, yet she wouldn't turn. She chuckled ironicly, the tears rushing to her eyes. "It's funny...I would have been wed, yet I killed my fiance before we could be. Now I'm selfish and trying to steal someone elses because I failed my own."
Taking one step forward, she turned finally to him, gently moving his hand from her shoulder. "I never blamed you. I...only blame myself for being foolish. I'm the one who is sorry. And I have been lying about my name. I'm sorry for that too, my real name is Lily." She spoke softly, a small smirk rising to her face as she could hear the deal shatter, freeing her at last. "I don't hold you to your promise of protection anymore because it is no longer necessary. You see, names hold power. I was cursed and couldn't tell anyone my real name until now. Thank you." Wiping away her tears, she cast them aside, watching as tiny lavender blossoms rose and fell away where her tears had hit the ground.
"Tell me, why would you want me to stay?" She questioned, holding out an arm as the wind ruffled her black kimono. There came a cry, a large bird burning bright with irridescent feathers flew down and landed on her arm. Lily stroked the birds neck gently, letting it shift to her shoulder.
