Amber gave a wry smile when Sub asked where she'd come from. "Did you forget I phased out when we started running?" she asked, starting to catch her breath as they got further from the Galarian Moltres. "I'm part Ghost-type; I've been following everyone undetected this whole time." She spent some time recovering from the energy sapping, meditating as much as possible on the back of a moving steel snake. It took a few minutes for her to recenter herself, regaining some energy. When Sub asked how she was doing, she opened her eyes and gave a nod. "I'm better than I was," she said, and indeed, she looked like she was doing better. "I can do whatever you need done. If necessary, I can send out some of my ghosts to cause a diversion if SWIPE shows up."

It seemed at this point where we would catch at least a break, but it almost felt like it was far too late. As the lot of us were carried off by the Steelix, I couldn’t help but to look back behind us making sure that everyone was hanging on as the massive mega evolved iron snake carried us off on this detour. I would then look down at Freth who was in my arms still out from her fight. But what worried me more was that cut down diagonally across her torso. I don’t know if this was Kess was trying have some sort of restraint or trying to make a point, but whatever the case, I really wanted to kill that woman now. A line crossed too far. I was absolutely livid right at the moment. And once again, feeling powerless to do anything about it.

Tristen, further up on the Steelix, nearby Sub, listened to the Snagem leader. Tristen would nod. “Thanks, Sub.” Tristen said. “I’m already ahead of you. I am really going to need to figure out what this thing is actually about. I mean…it was wanting to heal that really big guy and all…and…didn’t seem to know a whole lot. Ion Deluge seemed to messed it up real badly where it just only could use X-Scissor…just what is this thing?” Tristen asked.

“Sub!” I’d call out from down the snake. “I hope whatever you got planned here is going to work out in the end, because we cannot get into another fight like what we all were just in. Freth’s not doing hot at all and I’m not sure if she’s going to make it with that massive slash that Kess gave her! Kess messed her up something fierce and without medical attention, we’re hosed here! What about the rest of you?” I then asked the others. Tristen couldn’t help but to grimace a little, looking back at the Snagem leader, hoping that he did have some sort of answer. A lot of futures were at stake.

Aile would turn to Sub, eyebrows furrowed as she thought out loud for a moment. “Kuat started with one Automize, plus using Magnet Rise, then shed even more steel as we fled to push himself faster…” She paused as she heard Blizz call out, then looked down. “Kuat.” The trainer would turn her attention to the Mega Steelix, who looked back up at his trainer for a moment before turning his gaze forward once again. “Think you can get one final Automize going? You’ve already ground off a bunch of steel already, how do you feel about it?” He seemed to think about it, before nodding and doing his best to shed even more weight, leaving the excess steel behind them this time. “Kuat, you’re awesome. I’ll make sure when we get a chance, you’ll get yourself an all you can eat buffet of rocks and iron. Now, let’s go this way.” She’d put pressure on her right hand, directing the Steelix to turn east as the plowed on even faster. She would tell that this was straining Kuat at this point, but there wasn't much of a choice, unless they took time to create some sort of carrier for Freth. Time, something they were all in precious short supply of right now. Taking a look back again at everyone else, the woman sighed, then looked down at Kuat again. There had to be something else she could do, anything…

Aile’s gaze would shift over slightly to her left arm. Her nearly hidden in sight artifact, unless you knew her for the month or so where she had lost her arm and her staff was in pieces. If she remembered right from her studies, channeling was something formed from a bond between Pokémon and trainer, and then to use their abilities, a channeller borrowed power from their partner. However… what would happen if power went the other way? Would it even be possible? I have to try. Kuat could use all the help he can get. Closing her eyes, she would try to focus on Kuat and her artifact, doing her damnedest to try and give the Mega Steelix any of her own energy to help keep him moving, keep this form going until they got to Mauville. She’d have to deal with any repercussions later if it worked, but they needed to keep this up. Kuat was their way to safety right now, and she wanted to keep him going for as long as possible.

"I hope so too, Blizz." Sub said in response to Blizzard, letting out a sigh as he thought about everyone who had been injured, especially Freth. "If we get to Laverne quick enough she should be able to get us help for Freth. If we can meet up with the other group soon though that would help, I believe Terashi has his Gardevoir and Brian has his Lucario, both of them should be able to at least give Freth a Heal Pulse and help stabilize her." Sub continued, watching as tree after tree broke under the force of Kuat. A strange feeling would needle at him causing him to look down at the Steelix and then back at Aile, realizing what she was doing, giving her Steelix some of her own energy. "Be careful, Aile." Sub thought to himself, not wanting to say anything to Aile, knowing it would do no good to try and dissuade her.

They would travel for several minutes more until Kuat finally plowed through one more tree and revealed a section of the woods that was far more open than the rest. While not completely clear it was filled with numerous stumps but no fallen trees. The land here was also covered in shrubs, stunted saplings and other weeds as the removal of the towering trees opened up the canopy just enough to let some light in but the competition among the place was so fierce that nothing really took off here. Unfortunately the darkness that was setting in now made it hard to see all that much. Seeing this clearing Sub called out to Aile. "Hey! Have Kuat stop!" He implored her.

Once Kuat did Sub would slid off the Steelix and glance around the area, taking his SNAG out and using its flashlight, right now that's all it was good for. Sub took a few steps forward before stepping on something smooth but solid. Looking down and brushing some plants away he could see an old rusty saw on the ground beneath his foot and realized what this was. "Huh, a logging camp...but why here?" He said aloud. He'd then look to their south and noticed a large rock formation covered in vines and other plants. "Is that the outside of Rusturf Tunnel?" He asked no one in particular.

Looking towards the Ogre of Oni Mountain Sub got an idea for how they could maybe slow down SWIPE if they pursued them in this direction, at least anyone on the ground. "Ogerpon, think you could leave a few obstacles behind us?" He asked the Pokemon as he pointed at the clear path the Mega Steelix was leaving as it knocked down and pushed trees out of the way. "Maybe pull some trees down yourself or something?" Sure, SWIPE could send more helicopters or flying Pokemon at them, follow the path of destruction on the ground, but now they knew Sub had a flying legend of his own that can take them out of the sky so they'd likely send more ground forces than airborne. "They don't know where we're going but they'll figure it out soon enough, we just need to slow them down." He said to Ogerpon before addressing the others. "If anyone else has an idea to disrupt our trail be my guest."

Ogerpon was having trouble bringing herself to a calm complete stop, the smell of Freth's blood certainly not helping, but she takes a deep breath behind her mask, the familiarity of the Teal Mask's contours helping to keep her calm. It was her one true possession, the singular mask that she had possessed up until recently, and despite the emotions she was struggling with his presence in the carven wood always helped to cool her off a little bit.

Thinking strategically, she conjures a Spiky Shield around her arm and begins plucking the large barbs out of it one at a time, scattering them behind the Steelix as they crash through the countryside as a form of Caltrops, and the source of her Spikes. Any SWIPE members that took after them on foot or even in some non-reinforced vehicles would have a rude awakening. For good measure she wraps some vines around the trees, pulling them down between the sets of Spikes to obscure them from vision, making the little path behind them even more treacherous.

They pull up to the logging camp and Ogerpon hovers over Freth nervously, the mask switching from Teal green to Wellspring blue. "Poooon...." She moans sadly, gemstone teardrops reflecting her inner turmoil as she had been helpless to prevent the injury to her team member. Teamwork wasn't completely foreign to the legendary but outside of Darts it wasn't the default, and she was blaming herself for the Galarian Articuno hybrid's injuries.

The others would see Crystal tense up for a moment as she closed her eyes, though her shoulders would drop quickly with a small sigh. Then, from her hand, a line of light would emerge, branching out at various points to form a sort of tight scaffolding, going out just a bit further than where the Snagems were gathered, taking in a just in case scenario and just making sure that no one would have to worry about a cave in on them. Opening her eyes to see her handiwork, the hybrid couldn’t help but give a small smile for a moment. “Well. I guess WHITE’s currently nonfunctional. Your move, Darts. Unless you want me to also smash it open?”

Tsuki the Lunar Wind
He stayed close behind, eyeing cautiously upwards for in case the earth above them started to crack. Better to be NEAR the ground type who might be able to Dig him out than six feet away and not under her protection is at least what he figured.

Once Crystal opens up the way with her scaffolding, Darts shakes his head as Tsuki steps forward with his Flygon to dig into the soft malleable dirt behind the rock, now supported with the Solgaleo's light constructs. "Thank Arceus..." the jacketed Snagem murmurs, glancing back over his shoulder into the looming darkness. "And Solgaleo, I guess." He adds with a grin at Crystal. "Let's get out of this gosh dang tunnel." Following Reno's lead and Tsuki's carven path, the group would finally hit another barrier of rock that would daunt Flygon's digging prowess, hitting the outside of the tunnel with a sharp click. "Alright... now's the time for the smashing..." The Giratina hybrid motions Flygon out of the way before utilizing another of his rapidly decreasing Outrage stores to put some oomph behind his strike, cracking and shattering the outer rock formation to release everyone into the world. As Darts shielded his red eyes it looked like they wound up just outside of what looked like an old logging camp. A logging camp that was home to a Steelix. And an Ogerpon?

"Heeey!" The gambler hails the group on the Steelix, having no idea of Freth's condition as the tunnel snakes approach their steel snake counterparts. "What's with the long faces?" He asks, seeing how somber Ogerpon was behind its crying mask as their group joins back up with the team proper. Then he sees Freth, clinging to the side of the Steelix and covered in her own blood. "Oh, oh god. What happened?" He asks Blizz, looking to him for some kind of explanation.

Monique was awakened by the arrival of one very large Steelix conveyance. She blearily arose and realized that there was not going to be room for her to board without Snagging this Tauros. She shuffled through her bag and pulled out a Poké Ball, going through the now-familiar motion of Snagging a Pokémon. Of course, this now put her in violation of the time-honored commandment that "thou shalt only carry six beasts at a time", but there was nothing she could do about it right now. The computer system that would allow her to offload her Toxicroak or Alcremie or whoever was simply out of service. And besides, at this point, what's another charge in the long list of criminal fabrications that SWIPE was sure to produce? She fell asleep again, tired enough not to notice where she was being stowed.

With Moltres no longer out, the sheriff of New Po felt a lot less sapped, though still a fair bit tired, as the massive Iron Snake Pokémon rumbled through the mountains. She couldn't see where she was going, however, as she was in the equivalent of an exceedingly dark cavern, one with rock and steel teeth that doubled as the mouth. Every time its Trainer commanded it to Autotomize, it felt like a vibration. Monique didn't know it, but every time, it was shedding metal.

In the darkness and rockiness of Kuat's mouth, Monique had time to think. Everything had been a blur, a puzzle that clearly came without all its pieces fitting together out of the box only to be tossed like in a massive stir-fry. The accusations. The sudden hostility. The claims that fit with nothing she'd ever experienced of Snagem as an organization. And the smell, ooh that smell, of something rotten yet commanding in the presence of SWIPE.

There would still be shocks to come, of course. But they would come when Kuat's mouth opened and the light of the hostile world shone upon her again.

Sub would release Cera to her in the middle of complaining to herself, back turned as she continued. "...mew! Mewmew mew mew..." All at once, her complaints trailed off when she realized she wasn't in the ball anymore and wasn't even that far away, let alone that others could hear her now. "Er..." She spun to look Sub in the eye, ready to ask what the hell was up with recalling her like he did before getting an answer immediately along with an apology. And she might've still lodged some kind of complaint until the remark of a Dark-type Moltres made her go pale.

Instead, there were more questions and thoughts that needed to be shelved for now. "You're... i-it's fine," she said. "There's no telling how it'd affect me. Though, what happened after that, Buzzwole's ball isn't back there is it? And is that...?" She'd make a point to get onto Kuat, getting a really good sight of the sorry state the avian hybrids were in. Especially Freth, currently bleeding out as it was. She could still sense something out of her, so she (probably) wasn't dead yet, but it was very faint at best. Nor could she really pick up on Eris in there either.

"Freth! Don't tell me she's-"

"She isn't yet..." Sol said, looking away. "Kess wrecked the lot of us... we didn't stand a chance."

Being among the more able people in the situation, Cera would help the trees along in Ogerpon's pulling, glancing at the others every so often. Her thoughts kept going back to Ein even as they got to the logging cap and, even through everything he did, losing Clare and being so perilously close to a second casualty hit the Mew in a way that she thought only that madman could. She couldn't hide the fear in her eyes, keeping silent the whole time.

---

Amaranth kept with the rest in the tunnel as Darts proceeded to strike through the rocks, seeing the other end finally open up. She and Swift would see the logging camp first, followed by the massive Mega Steelix and the others on top of him. "You all made it! Oh, I'm..." She couldn't help trailing off with how the others looked and the general lowness shared amongst them, and she'd notice Freth immediately after, then the blood. Oh god the blood. "Wha- what happened!?" She looked at the other group in hopes they'd have some sort of explanation, but Cera couldn't bring herself to say anything and the earlier fight had well and truly caught up to Sol. Breathing was proving more painful than he wanted to admit.

"...how far are we from Mauville?" She asked after a moment, trying not to think about too much apart from getting to safety. She couldn't afford to let her mind dwell on anything else, not now.

“Laverne?” I spoke up. Well, at least that it was good to know that we still have allies somewhere. But then it left me to wonder who she would be able to get us to for medical attention and recovery. Our main go-to was Doc Owl, and he was stuck back at the headquarters, given his whole jack of all fields position that he ended up developing as long as he has helped us all out in Snagem. He’d know everyone best. “Hopefully…” I would then end up conceding to Sub. I’d then look back for a moment, seeing Ogerpon lament about Freth. Was Ogerpon…feeling regretful? Then overhearing Cera with Sol, I shook my head. “No, Sol, we had the chance. We blew it. Though with all that said…did you honestly at one point complain to Kess that she kicked you in the ribs?” I then asked Sol in rather disbelief at that.

I looked up towards the skies then shook my head for a moment. “At any rate…Ogerpon, as for you, no one is blaming you for any of this. I saw you trying to help; it was all we could ask for. Really, if anyone should be blaming anyone, I’m blaming myself right now…”

“Probably not for the reasons you’re probably thinking.” Tristen then spoke up.

“What do you mean?” I said, looking back at Tristen.

“Blizz, think about it. You, Sol, and Freth all went in on Kess. And out of all of you, you were sandbagging.” Tristen said. “You always do.”

“Well, its not like I’m out to kill anyone.” I said. “And for that matter, I don’t think I need to explain to you about collateral damage.”

“And Kess has no such restraint.” Tristen said back. “So, say you held power back to just enough to be only a bit over Kess, only so much to not cause out right collateral damage or something like that. And it was her and you three. She still put you all at a stalemate; in fact, it was probably the reason why she right now is not back to hunting us down already and it’s just the smaller SWIPE guys for the moment.” Tristen said. “Its no different than what you had me doing before I went off to school.”

“She practiced skill. Power came secondary.” I said. I couldn’t really argue it; Tristen actually had me on that one.

“That’s not to mention, you mentioned it yourself, you were trying to reach higher and higher levels of power as a deterrent so anyone that went after you or anyone you cared about would remain safe. Blizz, no one cares!” Tristen said. “Certainly not Kess! Never mind the rest of SWIPE! They came after everyone here knowing good and well what they were up against! They banked on you holding back!”

“Now, hold on!” I started to speak up. “Where are you going with that!?”

“You know good and well, Blizz. Even if that fight couldn’t have been avoided, it would have had a lot different outcome if you didn’t hold back like you did. I know you did. I didn’t jump in the fight with Kess because I would have thought that fight would have been over sooner than later with the three of you. But here you are on a Steelix back lamenting while Freth is right there close to dying in your arms right now!” That one, I couldn’t even begin to justify. Not because I couldn’t, but I rather would not say something that would make things worse in this situation. Though not going to lie, that honestly rubbed me the wrong way. Badly. And given that we were all in this situation together and still on the run, all I could do was stay silent…and slowly simmer in my irritation to just let this pass.

It was eventually we managed to rendezvous with the other half of the team finally and perhaps not a moment too soon. The ones that made it into the tunnel saw the condition of all of those who were on the back of Aile’s Steelix, Darts being the more prominent one who noticed we were all manner of messed up. “Kess ended up catching up to a couple of us and we ended up having to stand our ground. It didn’t turn out as hoped. As for the others…well, they had their own issues.” I said to Darts, irritation present still from Tristen’s scathing assessment. Though frankly, in Darts’s position, it probably could be dismissed to the aforementioned brawl with the Zapdos hybrid mercenary. Hearing then Amaranth asking about how far it was to Mauville, I shook my head. “We’re about half way there now at this point. And considering that it took us all afternoon and on into the evening to get here? Yea, it was probably going to take us until morning to get there with what we got going on now.” I told her.

Requiem of Whyspers

Fashionable Shapeshifter

PostPosted: Mon Jun 16, 2025 7:22 pm

Lykas watched, quietly, as Reno took charge and set those who could on the task of finding a way out of Rusturf Tunnel that wouldn’t put them all directly into SWIPE’s disgusting claws again. As Deo and Aile searched for alternate paths and, flinching as she did, Aria attempted to locate anything that could be found via echolocation, the Jellicent hybrid tried to think of there was anything more that he could contribute that wouldn’t blow up in his face. So far, everything he'd tried to do today had been a stupid, impulsive decision that had done nothing useful for anyone. He was thankful for Ulla’s bubble, finding the sound muffled and momentarily left in solitary confinement.

Odd watched the various pops of color around him move, identifying those souls he knew as Snagems and keeping tabs on them as they worked on a way out. As much as he wanted to offer assistance, the lack of true vision left him feeling like a liability at the moment more than anything else. What could a blind man offer as far as seeing a way out of a sticky situation, after all?

As Odd turned and looked around the tunnel, seeing the many small souls of Whismur milling about, he walked forward a few paces, releasing A’Capella once again, having recalled her when he let out Musette, and returned the Stantler in question to her own ball. Before A’Capella could even register where she was, Odd crashed into the wall of the tunnel, backing up a few paces and rubbing his nose. “Ow…” He’d take a moment to stop the admittedly minor pain, most of it to his pride for the moment, and listen to the others as they worked on finding a way out. The Channeler jumped as Aria had her Noivern use Boomburst, hands shooting to cover his ears even as they began to ring. He gasped, unheard under the cacophony of Boomburst followed by the countless crying Whismur set off by the explosion of sound in their typically quiet home. Ulla’s bubble helped but the man’s ears had learned to pick up more sound since his vision had been damaged so the racket was still somewhat painful.

Once the din had quieted once more and the assault on his eardrums had finally ceased, his clenched eyes opened again and he felt like he could speak. “It sounds like you found something…” He noted. “I was going to say I see a lot of living things moving around in that direction but I can’t tell exactly where they’re moving.” He announced calmly, pointing roughly in the direction of the wall segment that was being focused on. “I can’t tell which direction you guys are working in but hopefully what I can see is a good indicator it’s the right direction.”

Lykas sighed as even Odd seemed to have something useful to contribute despite his disability, crossing his arms and standing back for now. He didn’t want to screw things up even more for everyone but if, for some reason, there was any trouble trying to break through the wall, he could see if Palaeo or Chinami could help. He had no plans on trying to get further involved for the moment, though. Not after the absolute fiasco that trying to use the Red Gen had turned this into.

Odd perked up at that point, beginning to pick up something not too far off. “I think I can see the others outside! It looks like they got away from SWIPE!” He announced to the others, happily. It was good to see that, at least for the moment, he didn’t see any of those aggressive souls closing in on them. “They look pretty worn out, though… That’s a bit concerning. The soul doesn’t usually show physical weakness like that.”

“What the hell happened out there!?” Lykas asked, even more angry at himself after that follow-up comment.

It was about that point that Crystal, Darts and Tsuki’s Flygon managed to get them a path to the outside opened up. Odd would follow A’Capella’s lead, choosing not to risk running into anymore walls for the moment, once he heard the crack of solid stone and the sound of crumbling rock as the tunnel found itself with a new opening. He heard several of the others confirm what he had sensed: He did sense the others. Worse, though, was that it wasn’t all of them that he felt. As he got closer, following the pops of color, he spoke up quietly. “Where’s Freth? She was with you guys, right?”

“Odd…” Lykas muttered, walking up behind him, eyes wide as the lilac orbs passed over Kuat and his collection of passengers. “She’s hurt… Bad.” Was all he told the Channeler.

“She’s here?!” Odd exclaimed, frantically looking around, trying to find that familiar glow of the Galarian Articuno hybrid's soul and not seeing it. Finally, after entirely too long searching, he found it. Freth’s soul was there, extremely weak, so much so it was overshadowed by Blizzard’s, who Odd could only assume was trying to watch over his partner. “Giratina’s Wings…” He heard part of Blizzard’s explanation of what happened and felt the spike of hatred in Lykas as the hybrid realized cutting off their escape route had likely contributed in large part to how that fight had ended. Odd assumed that was directed at Kess. He would be very wrong.

Hearing what had happened, Lykas’ self-worth plummeted. The hybrid began to blame himself, feeling certain Freth would be the next casualty of these SWIPE bastards and it would be his fault for ever trying to use that gods forsaken rock.

All of Aile’s attention would be put into helping Kuat keep this form, but Kuat would still listen to Sub, slowing down to a stop in a way that wouldn't just throw everyone off. Aile would notice this finally, opening her eyes and frowning, until Sub jumped off at least. Her gaze would follow him, tilting her head when he bent down and tried to dust something off. And then the rock wall would bust down, revealing Darts and the other Snagems that had actually made it into the tunnel before the entrance collapsed. “Well. That’s a sight for sore eyes.”

Kuat would look up at his trainer while they were stalled, lowering his head to allow his maw passenger out if she wanted. No one else seemed to have left yet, so he wasn’t about ready to shake his trainer off, but he was concerned for her as well. He could tell she was trying to help him keep this state, and this couldn’t be good for her. He’d wait for a point when everyone would get off, and then he’d force Aile off, for her own good. This would just depend on what everyone else did, though.

Crystal would wait until everyone else was out, then head out through their new entrance as well, deciding not to put any more energy into maintaining it. It could last longer than usual without her trying to focus on it, but at the end of the day, it was still subject to the limitations of Reflect and Light Screen. Eventually, it would fade, and well… If it was unstable from that, hopefully there wasn’t anyone following them when it collapsed. The hybrid would bring a hand to her mouth when she saw the ragged state of everyone, especially Freth. Her ears dropped when she heard the explanation of what had happened to them, looking down at her hands once more. “Perspective,” she muttered under her breath, now thinking that her issue was extremely minor comparatively. Crystal hoped Freth could make it through, but she looked down at her Pokéball belt. Apolla, Demon Wing, Kairos, Hepa, Cassidy, and Donne. None of them capable of healing anyone else. “Hey, does anyone have Pokémon on their person capable of at least stymying that wound,” she’d ask, looking around to the others. “None of mine are capable of helping, but does someone else here?”

While anyone else might go up to help Freth, Crystal looked up at the starry night sky, sighing. She needed to get better. All she was was a one trick Ponyta, right now, and probably not a great one. She could go fast on her light boards, even with people, but with it being night, they could easily be tracked. So she still felt fairly gimped, even if she could make them again.

Crystal’s gaze would next fall onto Aile and her Steelix, tilting her head at them. The Mega Steelix was staring at his trainer, and Aile seemed like her attention was elsewhere… Light, she was doing something which concerned the iron snake. Outside of a couple glances elsewhere, his attention was all on her. Hopefully they could rest once they got to this emergency base. …Did she have any malasadas in her bag at the moment? At the very least, maybe Aile and her Steelix could use something to eat. Walking over while digging through her back, she’d look up at the ground channeller. “Oi. Aile. You’re not looking so great yourself, and I’m not meaning attitude.”

“Huh?” Aile’s attention would be brought down to Crystal, who had her hands on her hips. “I’ll be fine, we’re just waiting for the order to move out again.”

“And you won’t be any good to us knocked out from exhaustion.” Crystal would toss up a wrapped malasada to Aile, unwrapping another to give to Kuat whenever his jaw was available again. “And you shouldn’t be pushing your Pokémon so hard either.”

The woman frowned as she caught the pastry, sighing. “Maybe if we weren’t running for our lives and freedom.”

“What good is doing this if you burn out your Pokémon?” Crystal shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose. “This is pushing both you and your Steelix to your limits, probably past them. If you get some sort of permanent injury from this, what are you going to do? Yeah, you got a lot of us out, but then you’re dead weight as well.”

The human shook her head. “Mauville. Once we get to Mauville, I’ll recall Kuat and let him rest, and bring Dagobah back out. That’s-”

“Are you trying to prove something? Aile, we have one member dead, another on death’s door! We don’t need a third to join that rank!”

Prove something?! At last check, Aile wasn’t the one sulking around and running off on small missions to make herself feel better after ruining the festival at Kitakami! Ooooh, that was rich. “I’m not the one trying to prove s**t with a mangled ego! I’ve seen how many of the Shadow Pokémon missions you’ve offered to go on before my training kept me away from HQ for longer! You’re trying to prove that you’re actually worth the weight you slam onto the ground every time you take a step!"

“But I’m not the one trying to kill herself and her Pokémon by extending a form well past its prime,” Crystal snarled back. Taking a deep breath, she was starting to see how this was possibly going and needed to take a figurative step back, trying not to cause a scene this time. “Your Steelix looks exhausted, you look exhausted,” she continued, much calmer this time. “Yeah, sure, I’m probably the figurative dead weight overall.” Almost certainly, she thought, but she wasn’t going to admit that out loud right now. “But I can still move and function. Someone burning herself at both ends is going to become literal dead weight fast, though.”

Aile scoffed and looked away, shaking her head. Dammit, the galactic furball was right. But, how many of them were able to move quickly? “...Mauville.” She wasn’t going to budge, she couldn’t. This would leave Crystal to just shake her head, annoyed about how stubborn Aile was being.

Brian and Rachel followed along with their group, neither really doing anything to help because there wasn't anything they could do. Anything that could be done was already being done, so there was no point in adding to the mix. As they walked, Brian's mind wandered to Amber, hoping she was safe. Rachel was thinking about the rest of the group, wondering how many of them had managed to get away from SWIPE. Brian heard Crystal's question, and as he looked at the others, he saw that while Amber was fine, Blizzard, Sol, and... Shite, Freth was in bad shape, from what he could see. "I've got Lu and Chase that can help out," he said, taking two Pokeballs and releasing his Lucario and Kirlia, respectively. "Freth's in bad shape. I need the two of ye to use Heal Pulse on her to try and stabilize her." The two gave a nod and moved onto Kuat's back so they were on either side of Freth, then started sending healing energy toward her, hoping to try and give her some energy back. Rachel didn't have any Pokemon that could use healing moves, and when she realized this, she decided she would have to rectify that soon.

When I overheard that Freth was close to death, Samurai broke out of his ball and appeared beneath me, popping the bubble Ulla had me in and causing me to land butt-first on his back. This was a bit of a cause for concern - Samurai was still livid from what I could tell, as my ability to sense emotion was greatly dulled due to me leaving Rala with Yuna and Serena back at HQ, and I never really took the time to teach him how to carry me on his back, or any riding skills. That said, if Ulla's attention needed to go to anyone right now, it was Freth.

"Ulla, focus your energy on Freth. Keiko and I will be okay, now," I told her. Keiko relaxed her hold on her ears, and couldn't hear any more screeching, so she looked to Ulla. "Papa's right, sweetie, Freth needs your help."

Reno would follow along behind the tunnel breakers, hand resting on one of his Pokeballs as he looked around the slowly built up light constructs courtesy of Crystal. He had been guessing that whatever WHITE had hit her with worked over distance, but if even she was surprised over everything working again, that couldn't be right. So was WHITE out of commission for the time being? There would be time to figure exactly how that had been accomplished and what else the behemoth could do later. Right now, they needed to get clear and find everyone else.

Thankfully, it would appear they were in fact going to find everyone else immediately. But since he was leading the rear of getting through their opening, he could manage to see what exactly had happened with Freth a time after everyone had already gotten to work on making sure she was stabilized. Turning back towards the creative exit from Rustboro Tunnel, he would see Leslie had now unintentionally barricaded the entrance as she was struggling to pull her hammer through the somewhat too small entrance. "Give it a rest, Leslie. And leave it jammed in there. Keeps the tunnel shut in case SWIPE decides to rush down the tunnel immediately to see whats going on." Reno told the Tinkaton hybrid.

"Fine, but I call first dibs to collapse everything the second we can either go or they find us." Leslie shot back, letting the handle of her maul crash into the ground as the vehicle-sized head now blockaded the tunnel exit.

Getting himself over to Sub, Reno would speak again. "Whats the lay of things here? Manage to escape without having to get creative or did you need to break out the trump card already?" Staring towards Freth and her current team of mild triage medics, he felt he knew the answer but wanted to hear it from Sub. "Plan from here? Most who had to come with you aren't doing hot and we'll need the rest of the tunnel group to support them to make any distance. Should we keep everyone together or would it be more beneficial to redirect some SWIPE attention with at least one someone dashing past them and guiding their eye away?" While he hadn't said it outright, Reno hoped the implication that he would be the one to do this distracting dash wouldn't be lost on Sub.

Aria would be walking over to Aile, already seeing the small argument she was having with Crystal before whatever she said made the hybrid just simply give a shake of the head. This couldn't be good. Especially since she knew that Aile had made her Steelix go Mega before even the tunnel had collapsed. "Aile, how much are you forcing this?" She asked, looking towards her once-classmate. "I can try and help you with this if you want but....dragging yourself into absolute self-destruction because you still think you need to prove you belong isn't the play right now."

"I did, and..." A pained grunt came out of Sol before he could get himself to resume. "Tell me, have you fractured a rib before, Blizzard? Because if not... it hurts like hell. Barely want to breathe- ngh- from the pain. But underhanded kicks aside... we blew nothing. That fight was as fair as a 3-on-1 against a Zapdos hybrid could be." He looked like there was more he wanted to say, but when Tristen spoke up and called Blizzard out, he decided not to. No need to poke the frozen hornet nest further.

Cera would be quick to give herself a moment as Brian's Lucario and Kirlia used Heal Pulse, studying and feeling out the energy so she could Mimic it. After another moment, she'd repeat the move herself, trying to aid in stabilizing Freth. She'd avoid saying anything to Blizz, picking up on the mood and overhearing the other conversations anyway. "...look, maybe Crystal isn't the best one to bring it up right now, but she has a point. Mega Evolution's a lot of stress for the Pokemon, and it's not unheard of one to go berserk if they're under it for too long. Especially if they don't have someone to keep them grounded. I know we gotta keep moving, both for Freth's sake and our own." The Mew didn't bother looking towards anyone in particular, apart from Freth on account of the pulses of restorative energy she continued to emit. "Once Freth's stable, I could transform into Dagobah and you can get some rest, too."

Sol continued to listen in relative silence, if only so he didn't overexert himself, but there were more and more thoughts churning in his head after the last while. Without Doc Owl to rely on, situations like this one were going to be much worse for everyone and being so focused on offense wasn't going to cut it after that fight with Kess... he'd let himself go more than he realized after Ein was dealt with. To say nothing of his thoughts over the last year and that encounter with the Ziton when it went after Aden. "...to protect the treasure of life and let its fire burn bright..." He thought to himself, keeping an eye out behind everyone just in case.

"Halfway and it's already getting dark, and Freth..." Amaranth closed her eyes and sighed. Apart from her own mind's turbulence in the moment, she wasn't sure if Freth would survive the trip even with any stabilization. Or if Kuat could keep going long enough, though that was already addressed. "If it was safe, I'd say about letting me run ahead on Swift with Freth and get her to Mauville, but..." Now that she thought about it, she wasn't sure if she knew exactly how to get there from here, even with her Dodrio's speed. Much as she wanted to ask the questions increasingly on her mind, this wasn't the time and she wasn't even sure how much help she'd be right now.
