"And I suppose I wont hold your awful eating habits against you," he said on the way out. It felt like a childish thing to say though, because honestly, what was the difference between eating food made by the estate's cooks and eating food made by restaurant chefs?
"If there's a fridge in the basement, you can open it first." Maybe he could let out peafoul and somehow have her mess with Christian. Maybe get her to stink up a ticket for the other guy to pick up... Nah, that would just be petty. And he didn't want to use the little chick like that. "I'm just too scared to do it myself," he deadpanned.
There had been a sign over the basement stairs when they walked in, advertising it as the entrance to Frankenstein's lab. Even though that was probably the highlight of the house to explore, compared to whatever was upstairs, Jun was interested in heading there next.

Chickpea gasped, clearly conveying his surprise. So, most ‘Dunes’ were yellow then? “Oh wow! That makes you special then!” How cool! He closed his eyes, then scrunched up his face as he tried to imagine what Dune would look like yellow. It was hard to do so, admittedly. "I think I like your colors the way they are," he admitted, eyes still shut.
His eyes flashed back open, and they returned right to the furniture and other interesting things to look at. "Aww, alright. I guess it'd be bad if anything happened because we touched something we weren't supposed to." Even if such things were super interesting, and looked like fun to touch. "What do you think we'll do after this?" Chickpea questioned his friend, curious of his opinion. They'd done so much already, and all within a short span of time too!

Christian scoffed. "I'll have you know, that some of the places we ate at were of the healthy variety," he defended, but the bemused smirk he gave Jun over his shoulder told a different story. "Granted, we didn't order from those types of restaurants often. But!" He patted his stomach, and proudly, then flexed his left bicep for good measure. "Clearly, my diet hasn't had any effects on my body."
He slowed down, giving Jun the chance to catch up to him and allow the two to walk side-by-side. It also gave him the chance to extend his hand to the male, with him being able to see it. "If you need me to, I can hold your hand. That way you won't be as scared." Christian could barely keep his laughter from bubbling up, and maintain nothing more than a, positive, neutral expression.

Following Jun's direction/interest, Christian climbed the stairs up to the second floor; even if the main attraction was in the basement (as all, highly illegal, experiments were conducted), it was clear that it wasn't all the house had to offer. And Christian was certainly interested enough to investigate as much as he could.
Besides the occasional creak of the stairs, there was nothing exciting about the stairs, and a disappointed Christian stepped up onto the second floor's landing before he walked over to interior railing to lean against it and get an aerial view of the parlor. "In the spirit of the haunted house: what is one of your fears?" Christian looked to Jun. "For me, I'd have to say it's mimes. I don't think I'd run screaming from them, but I definitely don't want them around me."

[ "Th-thanks Chick-pea. I kind of wish I wasn't so different. But thanks." ] It would be nice to not stand out. Not have big wings bad people wanted, or be colored wrong, or have trouble talking. But... well, Chickpea didn't know what was normal for a dunsparce or not, right? Well uh except for what Dune was telling him right now. But what Dune was thinking was more like... Chickpea was so different, and Ledian was so different, and it felt like being different was more okay. And Chickpea said he liked Dune's colors, and his wings.

Jun squinted at Christian's arm. "Right. The lunch you picked out says something else." Of course it wasn't like there were really any healthy options around. "I think we'll know that if I get you out swinging a sword around." He looked a bit closer and Christian, running a trained eye down his arm to the shoulder. That can't just be from tying knots. He almost made himself laugh with how ridiculous that was.
Christian slowed down, and Jun raised a questioning eyebrow. He glanced down at the proffered hand and then, without thinking, smoothly slid his hand around the inside of Christian's arm and up, gripping the bicep and bringing his other hand in to hold at the elbow, like a girl on a date. "My hero," he stated, drawing on every ounce of self control to keep a straight face and an even voice.

The stairs were, unfortunately, too difficult and narrow to navigate arm in arm. Jun was tempted to hand on just to mess with Christian, but settled for giving his arm a light squeeze before pulling away. It had the added bonus of giving him a better idea of Christian's build.
There must be something he isn't telling me, he thought. Had he been too quick to trust? Jun looked sideways at Christian as he leaned over the banister. What he saw was enough to relax him- he hadn't even realized he'd tensed up.
"Mimes, huh? So how do you feel about Mr.Mimes?" Jun admitted, those things could be unnerving. He didn't see why a human mime would spook anyone out, though.
Answering the question was... tough. His immediate thought was the same fear that had caused him to tense up- being found and 'disappeared' by Team Rocket, once they did whatever it is they do to traitors to him. Not something he should mention. His next thought was just a memory of bare hands sinking into ice and snow, a flash of white in his mind's eye before he shoved the memory far away. "I guess running out of food? Good food," he added. His hands itched.

"You're welcome!" Chickpea, while not wise enough to think of anything philosophical or uplifting, did notice that Dune wasn't comfortable talking too much about how different he was, at least from others of his kind. "There's nothing wrong with being different! We can't all be the same!" He tried anyway.
Even if his words didn't have any affect, Dune seemed to bounce back anyway; and that was what was most important, right? "Mmm. Yeah, those were really good," Chickpea agreed dreamily, his stomach growling at the thought of more of the sweet food. "D'ya think that they'll let us help next time?"

"Hey, hey, hey." Christian held both hands up in a defensive position. "I was carbo loading, preparing for the rest of the day," he insisted. Jun wasn't giving him enough credit, he could've gone for a much unhealthier option, but he'd abstained. He perked up at the mention of a sword. "I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised at my endurance -- after I've wowed you with my pool noodle skills."
He'd been totally joking when he offered Jun his hand, and he'd certainly never expected him to accept -- hell, he did a bit more than that. Christian stared at their intertwined arms, then looked up at Jun, his ability to hold a poker face was outstanding, before he finally snorted. "That's what I'm here for. To protect tall, sword wielding men." He wasn't going to think too much on it, and while it certainly wasn't cold inside the house, Jun's body warmth did make him aware of the difference in temperature.

After making it up the stairs, sans a clinging Jun, Christian turned around to rest back against the railing; it was stable enough to support his weight, right? "There are... Mr. Mimes?" His eyebrows knitted together at the same time his nose wrinkled, creating a look of utter confusion and slight horror. Why would a pokemon like that ever exist? "I've never seen one," he stated, as if his previous question hadn't been obvious enough. "And now I don't know if I want to."
Jun's fear... Christian couldn't help but to chuckle. "That's a practical fear. It makes sense, for you." It was also a fear that he held, and one he'd have to make sure never became a reality. With a grunt Christian pushed himself off the railing, and jerked his head towards one of the many rooms they'd yet to explore, some of their doors ajar. "What do you want to check out next? The bathroom or the bedroom?"

"Not really." Jun gave Christian his most passive-patronizing smile, very narrowly refraining from giving out a pat on his friend's gold curls. It was... remarkably easier to joke around than with anyone he'd spent time with in the past. Possibly because he wasn't being paid to protect him. Actually, aren't I the one doing the paying right now?
"Tell you what, if a bad Mr.Mime shows up I'll take care of it for you. Or even, god forbid, a Mime Jr.." It was a bit surprising Christian hadn't even heard of Mr.Mime- after all, they may be uncommon pokemon, but in Kanto and Johto they tended to at least show up on TV or at local events at least once in your life.

Jun was strangely amused by Christian's response to his fear. 'Practical' was one word for it... and those he hadn't mentioned aloud. "You think?" If he thought about it, anything he had that could classify as a fear held a genuine chance of killing him. So, yeah. Practical.
"What, bathroom can't have that much in it, can it?" Jun stepped ahead, brushing the door opened wider. It was a small bathroom with a tub-shower combo. A second door led, presumably, to a bedroom. There wasn't much to the place at first glance. It was relatively clean, didn't smell bad at all. Yeah, I bet it hasn't been used as a bathroom, anyways, he thought to himself, lifting a hand to pull the shower curtain open. There might be a fish or something-
"G-griiimer-"
"Nope." Jun let the curtain fall closed. He hardly noticed that there was no foul smell in the room, instead swiftly moving into the bedroom.

"Oh... right!' He had forgotten that Dune didn't have hands. Or, maybe not quite forgotten, it just hadn't been fully recognized. He didn't have any hands either, so he used his vines to grab objects; they sure were useful! Chickpea brightened considerably upon Dune's alternate suggestion, head bobbing vigorously to the point where... he might have gotten a bit woozy. "I think that would be great!" he gushed, toddling unsteadily for a few steps. "We would have the best mashed up ingredients, and win... whatever it is that we'd win!"

"Damn." Christian smacked his lips, and snapped his fingers. "Guess you'll just have to hold onto me longer then," he suggested, with the cheekiest of grins. There was still a great bit of the house that'd yet to be explored, and that translated into more time to try and 'impress' Jun.
His grin downgraded into a soft frown, one of confusion and contemplation. "There's such thing as a... Mime Jr.?" Now what did that look like? And were they ever booked for parties? There were so many questions... "Alright. That sounds like a deal," Christian eventually spoke, recovering from his surprise. "We'll take turns being each other's knights."
