Patrick Lockheart ~ Entering The Jolly Tavern and Inn ~
"A very good morning to you as well, Sir," not exactly knowing the male by name, Patrick fell back on politeness, waving back as Kayne acknowledged him in a friendly manner, "Unfortunately the weather has caught me unawares, I sort of stumbled in here looking for shelter," he was honest - that couldn't be helped, but it was perhaps a stroke of luck that he'd chosen such a location to step into - especially having not really considered breakfast that morning, "I must admit though, the second I walked in... What on Eoana are you cooking? It smells so delightful!"
Had he his White-Feathered companion in tow, Branwen may very well have taken wing from his shoulder and flown off to investigate for herself - not that Rick would have been able to stop her either, but at this moment in time, he thanked his lucky stars that she had decided to remain inside his room in the dry.
"I have coin," Although much of it was still intended to go as a donation to a good cause, he would reach for the pouch on his belt, ready to show what he had, "But if it's not enough for a serving of whatever you might have cooking, I might also offer my services," he would motion to the violin case he had placed upon the stood beside him, but was also not unaccustomed to a little 'washing up' if that was more preferential.

Kayne chuckled, liking the polite demeanor from the young man himself. "Sausages. Part of the breakfast menu with eggs. Though still, the restocking cart with the crates will be there after a while. Gotta feed the crowd, you know?" he replied to the question about what he was cooking. "Hot chocolate will also be available as the beverage. Something simple and sweet." There was no major leap yet in terms of the menu, at least through the suggestions provided by the clients. Some food best suited for the occasions, like the cake for example, would best to performed by the finest chefs in Eoana, and Kayne was nowhere near the level reserved by the royal cooks for the kingdoms... yet.
When the pouch containing the coins was presented to him, Kayne accepted it, taking a closer look at the contents. Most of the coins inside were crafted out of gold, though there were some silver pieces included in the mix. Definitely enough to last for a meal or two in the tavern and inn. "That's enough for two meals here in the tavern. If you want a room to stay, your performance better be dazzling for the patrons," Kayne grinned; he had a hunch that the young man's talent would be a good one, but he had to see it first-hand first. "How about I'll give you a sampling of my cooking, which is one meal as part of your payment, and then you can do a little show to show me what you are capable of. Is that a fair deal?"

"Hot Chocolate?" The sound of eggs and sausages was delightfully appealing - especially as he'd not yet eaten - but such a thing as Hot Chocolate was but a luxury to the Diviner - only dug out on those rare occasions when his Family were celebrating something or when he was having such a bad day that his Grandmother would sneak him a mug to help make him feel better. - He wondered if the male was perhaps celebrating their recent renovations? Quite unaware that such a drink was readily available outside of special occasions as well.
"Performance...? Oh!" Rick's eyes had been on the coins at the time and as the male spoke he would lift his gaze, blinking as he suddenly realised what Kayne was proposing, "That certainly sounds like a plan!" he would nod, grinning - his eyes now glancing towards his violin case, "I am a student at the Academy, so there shouldn't be any need for a room to stay, but I would be more than happy to perform for your patrons if you feel I meet your requirements?"
He knew they would both need a few minutes to prepare, but he had only one further question for the male and that would be of course, what type of music he was partial to? "My skill is both Vocal and Instrumental, so I was wondering if you had a particular preference?" Flipping the latch on his case, he would lift the lid before glancing back towards the male,

Another morning at the Jolly Tavern and Inn. Philia certainly did like the place. Simple, well looked after and absolutely full of information. Since her arrival she had been renting rooms here, although she had yet to properly look around the Tavern itself, she'd been so busy. "It would be far more efficient I suppose." The woman figured it better to converse with the locals within. But who... While word of mouth is a great source of information, she would not get much out of a drunkard. She would have to narrow down people worth conversing with.
After getting herself cleaned up and dressed, Philia left her room, deciding to leave the coat for today. It would likely grow too warm if she wore it. She stepped out into the Tavern itself and approached the bar where she would stand and wait patiently for a member of staff. In the mean time she looked carefully at her surroundings... Even though it's still rather early, there were already one or two drinking away. The smell was... Well, she would make note to avoid them.
Her ears were awoke by the sound of some kind of lock or latch clicking, causing her gaze to fall upon a ginger male. ...He was at the Market yesterday... It seemed almost like a coincidence that he was also at the inn, though it was more than likely just that. It's far more possible the boy plays to earn funding to stay here. Either way until she had some kind of distraction Philia rested her elbow on the bar counter, chin on hand while watching the musician closely. Last she recalled he actually played rather well yesterday... From what little she heard during her brief time there.

While she prided herself on many things, being a morning person was not one of them. Yawing deeply, Emma arose from bed, rubbing her eyes and stretching as she tried to gain some motivation toward starting the day. The previous night had been much busier than she’d expected. The re-opening of the Inn and been heavily anticipated by their regulars and as such, the anticipation had been contagious. The dining area had quickly filled up as soon as the doors opened and thus, it had been a very busy night – a good night, but a busy one. Emma’s feet still ached a little, but it was a good feeling, mainly because of all the tips she’d been able to earn!
Smiling at the thought, Emma headed to the washrooms to freshen up before dressing for the day and heading down stairs. She wasn’t surprised to see Kayne already working, but she was pleasantly surprised to see two patrons already in the dining area, one of which was renting the room down the hall from her own, but whom she had yet to meet officially. It seemed that Larina had yet to rise, but it was still early.
Emma smiled at the patrons and headed behind the bar toward the kitchen. “Good morning, everyone.” She said with a little smile and a wave before greeting the cook as well. Plopping down on one of the seats in the back, she stifled another yawn and waited for breakfast to be made.
Upon hearing that the young male was actually a student in the Academy, that was when Kayne grinned. "How delightful. I'm also one of the elective professors. Obviously, I am in charge of the cooking elective. Gotta teach the kids on how to survive through eating what they have. As long as they are good to be edible, of course." There were cases on which the animal meats and plants may suffice when walking through the forest, to unknown territories, but not all of them would be safe right off the bat. There were poisonous plants and animals that would induce itching to the skin, vomiting when ingested, or even certain death. Proper food preparation would be also included, like removing the dangerous parts of the ingredients and washing them off in such a way that the hazards would be lessened, if not totally removed.
"I don't actually have a preference, but what matters is the emotions that are instilled into the performance. Just make sure that they are clear and true, more so when the intention is to make people feel happy," Kayne responded to the question about the choices for the upcoming show. There were a lot of instruments used, but unlike Lerato who was technically skilled, Kayne was no pro on the musical department. His crimson eyes then darted to the lady who was watching them, a client named Phylia who had rented one of the rooms earlier, and smiled. "Hello there, also up for the meal? It will be up after ten minutes."
Finally, Emma showed up as well, though she was feeling sleepy. "Good morning to you as well," he greeted her. That was it, he had to cook the meals for three people today. He made a pleasant work on the sausages, having to fry them up with the sunny-side up eggs that would soon be restocked. He had a carton left in stock before the delivery would come around later. After they were put on the plates, the huge loaf of bread was cut up into manageable slices, two pieces at a time for one dish. The breakfast was finished after around nine minutes, and he served the plates onto the counter that the other three occupying. "Here you go, meal is served. Shall I serve you all the hot chocolate? There's also tea in case you need the alternative."

Patrick Lockheart ~ Entering The Jolly Tavern and Inn ~
"Good Morning!" He would greet Emma as she entered with a friendly grin, recalling briefly passing her once or twice as she served the party-goers back at the Gala before turning his gaze towards another who he had somehow missed upon his own entrance. Rick had seen the latter female more recently in the Marketplace, but had been so focussed with entertaining the masses that it was difficult to truly pay attention to anything else. He would smile in the Enhancer's direction before looking up as Kayne explained that he was infact one of the Professors there before continuing on with a brief insight to his profession. "What a small world," he chuckled, nodding to himself as he recalled having learnt from his Grandparents how important it was to understand what could be edible and what could prove dangerous if eaten...
Rick didn't need ten minutes to set up, but decided it best to make use of the time offered by tuning his violin. The Tavern would maintain its expected morning atmosphere as he plucked quietly at the strings - ensuring each one sounded correct before setting the instrument back into its case as Kayne showed up with food - It wouldn't be fair to let something specially cooked up to go cold and with his violin sounding fine, the Diviner would eat quickly - not so quick that he appeared uncouth or made himself choke, but quickly enough that he didn't leave the male waiting too long to witness his end of the deal.
Once again, when offered the option to have Hot Chocolate, Rick would hesitate - it still felt like a reward for him, so he didn't necessarily want to accept it without reason, "Allow me to play first, then if I have successfully impressed you, then I shall gladly accept," It was perhaps best to have it afterwards anyways as the warm drink would help relax his voice after singing, so hoping that would be alright, Rick would take up his violin, drawing his bow from the case before allowing the others to get comfortable.
Patrick had a choice of several songs he could have performed, but after playing quite a few in the Market District recently, it felt perhaps best to perform something the audience may not have heard him sing before. If he was honest, some of the lyrics seemed appropriate for his current setting anyway, but that wasn't necessarily important - If anything it was a fun song and although it would perhaps be rather difficult for him to keep still, it was one of those that inspired his enthusiasm and got him moving. When they were all settled, he would begin to play.

Philia gave a brief wave in the Bar Maids direction when she showed up, one person the woman could tell would be good to go to for information, or just a generally comfortable chat. Although before Philia could go to speak to her, the Chef approached to inform Philia about breakfasts being prepared... Thing is, she hadn't really planned to eat just yet. But seems Philia wont be able to object as he was already away and preparing. Guess it wont hurt. The Enhancer continued observing the male with the violin for the next few minutes, not like there's anything else going on.
Later on the Chef turned up again with plates, one of which was placed on the bar where Philia stood. With the slight change of plan, Philia placed some coins on the bar before moving with the breakfast to a table not far from where she stood, as well as retrieving some utensils. Thus she took her seat, brushed her bangs aside, tucking the ends behind her ear so it didn't get in the way. After a few seconds of fiddling she took some pieces of sausage and some egg, careful to place the bits on the bread in a neat fashion. Save the little sandwich she just made for last she'd pick at the leftover pieces. Just to be safe, I shouldn't get too into these. Philia would rather avoid having breakfast too often to manage her weight, it would allow her to eat in the afternoons without much concern. But... No harm in the odd treat one could say.
Philia occasionally glanced over to the Bar Maid, as if signalling her curiosity. Hopefully the woman would be able to do something productive today, even if she didn't plan to go anywhere.

While Kayne cooked, Emma took the time to brew herself a nice cup of tea. She added honey and a touch of cream, stirring the liquid slowly before taking a sip and humming happily at the flavor. In no time, Kayne had whipped up breakfast for all of them. “Thank you, Kayne.” She said with a smile, glad that she had such a kind employer. Taking her plate, she took a seat at the end of the bar. While she could still converse with the patrons, she was also set apart.
Taking a bite of the food, she hummed happily. “Delicious as always, Kayne.” She said giving him a little wink as she sipped more of her tea. Eating mostly in silence, Emma was aware of the eyes that were upon her. The patron renting the room down the hall from hers seemed to be looking her way, a curious glint in her eyes.
Emma made it a point to make eye contact with the woman. Giving her a little smile, she nodded, as if to say, ‘good morning’. Turning her attention back to breakfast, Emma was quick to finish her food and her tea. Arising from her stool, she gathered the dishes and walked back into the kitchen to wash and dry them quickly. Wiping her hands off on her apron, Emma headed back out into the dining area.
Walking over to the woman’s table, she gave her a friendly smile. “Can I get you anything? Tea perhaps?” The woman didn’t seem to be finished with her breakfast just yet so Emma refrained from taking the dishes.
Kayne was now wiping his hands with a towel; they had gotten a bit slippery from the work with cooking with the meal. As the others were enjoying the meal, accepting the compliment from Emma with a nod and a raised thumb upwards, the young man heard the song to see if he did well enough to impress the chef. It didn't take long before the song ended, and Kayne was contemplating on the performance before speaking out. "Hmmm... That's a nice start. Potential is definitely there. The crowd may be impressed indeed once the full show starts later tonight." As much as Kayne wanted to see the full show now, that would wait till several hours later. But also, he took a glance at Phylia who was eating the meal daintily. Mainly, it might be to maintain enough calories, as the sausage was actually a bit too oily. Emma was the one approaching the female, asking for the choice of beverage.
"Oh yeah, young lad. You haven't mentioned the name to me yet," Kayne was so focused on the tasks that he had almost forgotten the introductory phase, especially between the two males. Oh well, better late than never, more so to get the show on the road.

Rick's heart was pounding as he caught his breath following the song - as always, it gave him such a boost just to entertain and although the reaction hadn't been exactly what he was used to, they seemed to have enjoyed it all the same.
"Full show...?" he had started putting away his Violin as Kayne mentioned about the crowd perhaps being impressed with such a performance later on that night - he would tilt his head for a moment as the man's words sunk in, then his grin would return, "You mean you want me play again?" he was surprised, but it put another feather in his cap for his confidence and he would swoop in to shake the cook's hand, "That's wonderful!" he beamed, "I won't let you down, Sir!"
It seemed they had both neglected their introductions as Patrick was also quite oblivious to the man's name, "Oh, and it's Lockheart, Patrick Lockheart," he would finally relinquish Kayne's hand before glancing away a little embarrassed as he awaited the cook's own introduction.

Philia found herself simply looking at the makeshift sandwich, a somewhat irritated look on her face... It took a few minutes of unnecessary mind gymnastics but she just settled with leaving what was left. It'll probably be a problem later, a temptation she'd rather avoid. Midway through her own thoughts the Bar Maid had approached. Philia looked up to the woman from her seat and gave a slight grin. "Thank you, but I'll be alright for now. Also..." The Enhancer glanced quickly to her plate. "I believe I'm done eating, I'd be lying if I said I don't feel bad, after your chef works so hard to make such great meals." She sighed.
Before she knew it her curiosity was at its peak again, Philia placed her arms on the table and rested her head on the back of her hands before speaking in the Bar Maids direction again. "I don't suppose you would have some time to chat? I've never mentioned but I only moved here a few days ago and... Well, you certainly seem like somebody that knows her history." Philia forced a friendly smile, if there was one thing she knew, it's that Tavern staff are great sources of information, that's if one can ignore the smell of alcohol and the occasional unhygenic drunkard.
Philia's gaze also fell back upon the ginger boy from earlier. Oh... Hm. Guess I wasn't paying attention. Turned out she missed him play, she was that engrossed in her own thoughts. Perhaps he will continue later on. Philia herself always welcomed the sound of music, good for the mind. An atmosphere that she could always focus no problem within. She would be sure to focus on the Bar Maids response for now though, see what she can learn about Eoana...

The boy’s music was quiet lovely and lively. He sang beautifully, and his playing was very well done. As someone who lived and worked in taverns and Inns all her life, Emma had heard her fair share of musicians and this boy was one of the better ones she had the pleasure of listening to. She gave him a small round of applause to let him know she approved before looking back to the woman she was assisting.
Nodding at her words, she gave a small shrug. “Think nothing of it – he won’t be offended, I promise.”] Kayne wasn’t so sensitive that he’d get upset over a few leftovers on a plate. Some people just had smaller appetites than others. Emma was a bit perplexed by the woman’s new pose however, but who was she to judge? Nodding a little at her words, she looked around, scanning the room. The morning rush hadn’t started yet so she had some time.
“I have some time, but I must warn you, I only moved here a short while ago myself. I’ve been here for about six months.” Taking the seat across from her, Emma held out her hand in greeting. “My name is Emma. If I’m not mistaken, you’re renting one of the rooms down the hall from me. Feel free to ask me anything – if I can answer your questions I will.”
His grin was light at the young man. "Yes, I am sure. Consider this as a start of your blossoming career as a musician." After the handshake was exchanged between the two, the man introduced himself as Patrick Lockheart. He nodded in understanding. "Since you mentioned that you are a student, what type of Knit are you in exactly? There are a bunch of young'ins that are like my children figures, like the princess whose raiment is as hot as the flames firing the ovens." But also, he suddenly remembered about Pepper, whom he hadn't interacted in a long while. Her fate was still unknown up to this day, though he was hoping that she would be return one day.
He then heard the conversation shared between Emma and Philia and joined in once the two were done talking. "Ah, I am having a fair share of people who are the newcomers to this place. Reasons range from short vacations to moving in to study in the academy. I must say that it's a fresh reprieve to see new faces in the tavern from time to time. Makes the business life quite interesting." He then focused his attention to Patrick. "I suppose that you are studying under the wing of my co-worker, Lerato? Quite an eccentric male, if I say so myself." While Kayne was mostly chill with being Lerato's friend, he was hoping that the court mage would take things easy when necessary.

Rick had bowed to Emma's applause, pleased that he'd gained her appreciation - and when Kayne mentioned that he could consider it a part of his blossoming career, he could beam no wider - He'd quite missed performing to the masses when he'd been travelling with his family and to find a niche of admirers here in Eoana quite a travel away from his 'home' couldn't make him happier.
"My Raiment...?" Rick's smile would fade a little at the question, "Well, it's not exactly something I divulge too often but... Well, I'm a Diviner at least," there wasn't much to be uncertain of in that context and in replying, he'd technically answered the man's question, but Patrick would be somewhat reluctant to reveal anything more if Kayne was to enquire further - His Uncle had used the Diviner to 'read' people in their late night performances, speaking with the spirits that walked with them - or at least describing their visions so the guy could make a little more coin on the side...and although that was in the past, it wasn't uncommon to discover that some people still didn't like the idea of knowing someone who could commune with the dead...
It was interesting to hear that the man had experienced his fair share of newcomers however and as Kayne went onto the subject of him studying his arts under Lerato, Rick would nod, feeling a little more confident that the man wasn't necessarily going to ask about his Raiment specifically. "The Music Teacher?" he would nod, his smile returning, "I haven't spoken to him as of late, but he's quite the tutor," he remembered playing his music for the man and although he'd been critical, it was more to aid than suppress his skills.
