 Horus let out a sigh of relief that it had been rather easy to wake the Grimm and no swinging was involved. Even better was they had their own water canteen. Still when they started looking around Horus pointed towards one of the rare trees that produced shade. " there is some shade over there. You should sit there for a while and drink some more water. It's also a good place to still see the tori. I do admit, they are quite cute" Horus replied. It had been a spot he had used earlier in the day.

Odessa gave a brief smile toward the junior. She would offer to let the junior pet it later, she didn't want to ruin their chances of getting a tortie of their own by distracting them. It did seem sad that this part of the tour was almost over. She wasn't sure what to expect when it finally concluded.

Kiessi put their camera down, taking a long last look toward the land the torties were coming from. It was starting to get late and they had no desire to turn on the flash and scare some of them away. So they just stood there, watching the little torties playing with each other. It reminded them a lot of their siblings back home.

Cass put his hands on a railing, his eyes moving to track a tortie that was moving quickly between the brush. It was a pretty color, though he couldn't be too sure exactly what they looked like with them moving so quickly. He smiled, taking a last look before the call to move on was made. He hoped everyone could get a tortie, but he knew there were some who wouldn't be so lucky, it was just the way things worked.

 She started thinking about what she could name the turtle. She could name it after a star... or maybe it would be better to name it after a mineral? Yeah, she could totally call the poor thing Lepidocrosite. That would likely go over well.

 "Is that weird? I... I don't mean it to be weird. It's just your feathers look really soft, so I've wanted to touch them, but I thought just doing so would be rude..." But Leto gave him permission. Vega's face practically lit up, and he touched Leto's wings gently. But then... something Leto said clicked. "Courting gifts? What are those?" It couldn't be something you bring to a court when you're in trouble, that's a bribe...

 Ok he couldn't stand it any more. Nicolae began preening his feathers, carefully ruffling them and shaking out all the sand that he could. He couldn't wait to take a shower when they returned to the lodge. "I don't understand how kids could play in the dirt so much..." He murmured to himself.

 Thomas watched some of the familiars emerging and becoming friendly with the visitors, causing him to smile lightly. It was an oddly wholesome activity to him, and he was surprised he wasn't bored by it all. Listening to Iron's question, Tom quickly realised he'd darkened the mood. Looking up to grin at him, he shook his tail lightly. "Sure, more people to cook for! You have no idea how dull it gets to cook the same desert stews day after day," He said with a mock-whine."Never realised there was so much beauty to see in my home," He added softly.

To everyone else who didn't win a Tort, you are welcome to pick up one of these per character you have entered in the Meta who did not receiv a tort! (i.e., if you only have one character in the Meta, pick only one Tort for them. If you have three, take one each.
If you have three but only one won a tort, pick only two.)
This is if you participated in the meta AT ALL! You did not have to have posted in this thread to claim one of these torts.

At the end of the long day of learning about the Torti and collecting them, the kids all piled back up into the bus for the long ride home. It had been a fun trip, with ruins and exploration, familiars and trinkets about. Everyone who went returned home with their hands - and their hearts - much fuller than they had arrived.
