Dimitri smiled a little and watched Aiko manipulate the shadows. She had continued to impress him time and time again. Well, they had just met a few hours before and he was interested in seeing what else she could do. "It is quite perfect for my tastes. Normally, it takes a long time to manipulate the shadows like you. You are quite the special one." Within an instant, a torch burst into shadow flames. "I prefer shadow fire. It is quite beautiful to see. Shadow flames are an art, but nothing compared to what you can do." He chuckled a little and stood up. "You just fascinate me Aiko."

Aiko smiled. She looked over to the shadow fire. It was quite pretty."And you continue to impress me as well. Manipulating the shadows wasn't easy at first, but I looked up to my father before he passed away. I wanted to be like him, always. I guess you could say, the way he controlled the shadows is what drove me."She shifted and molded the shadows to resemble a man. He looked quite gruff, but you could tell he had a soft spot for his little girl underneath all the rough edges."But he was hard on me as well. He wanted to make sure I was ready and trained to protect my mother should the need arise."Aiko looked over to Dimitri.

Dimitri sat back down and watched as Aiko manipulated the shadows once more. "I didn't have anyone like that. You could say that I was on my own. The shadows saw my potential and gave me their power. Everything I can do, I figured out for myself. It's easy when you have so many targets to practice on." He smiled and laid back on the bed. "I was never one for such trivial things."

Aiko sighed and sat next to him."I used to hate my father when I was younger. I was up before the sun was to train. It was like that until he died. If he wasn't training me, it was one of his squad that did it. It wasn't until I was 16 that I started appreciating the training."She shrugged."Some of the trivial things makes you stronger. But they aren't needed."Aiko dismissed the shadows and leaned her elbow on one knee."But in my upbringing I had no friends. I didn't need them though. I started making shadow animals and they became my friends. I guess all that self training while doing the art is what advanced me so fast."

Dimitri smiled and put his hands behind his head. "My family is long gone. They couldn't handle the power of the darkness. It completely destroyed them. Being alone made it easier to control. No one dared to mess with me back then." He wasn't about to go into any details about his childhood, but he would give Aiko a little back story. "My other shadow abilities and my memory alteration came later. Shadow Fire was my main focus."

Aiko listened to him and glanced back to him."You never cease to amaze me."She smiled."When I was 18, the emperor approached me on taking my father's place. I had one task, get the twins. Been chasing them for a year now. I was so close....and then they ran into this world. I can't wait to get my hands on them."Aiko then thought about when she did capture the twins. Would she be able to leave and not long to come back? She felt more at home here than she did in her own home back in Niflheim. But there was one thing that she would miss here though, the like minded Dimitri.

Dimitri chuckled a little and allowed the flames to fade away. "There's still a lot that I need to learn. Take the torches I just lit. I'm unable to sustain the flames within them. Leaving them ignited makes me weaker. Luckily it's only with them. Then again, there is always something to learn." He listened to her story and nodded. "And what will do afterwards? Do you plan on staying in your world?" It wasn't as if he cared, but he was a little curious. Could he handle losing the perfect ally?

Aiko watched as the flames went out. She smiled."All you need is a focus for it to last. Then again, you probably don't use it often to light torches and just use it in combat."When she was asked where she would go afterwards she shrugged."Honestly, I will more than likely stay there. Of course things could change, but it's looking to be like I will stay there."What was she saying? She didn't want to go, but could she abandon all that she knew to stay here?

Most don't make it past Shadira." Listening to her answer, he closed his eyes. "You could always come back here. We do make perfect allies."

Aiko shrugged again."That is true but what reason would I have to stay, besides allies. Allies come and go and return, but I need more convincing to stay. Besides, I still have a duty to my emperor. I can't just leave him without a word, or someone to take my place."She crossed her legs and leaned her elbow on them, resting her chin on her resting hand."So Shadira. Besides being the boy's mother, what else does she do?"She tried to change the subject. Talking about where she would stay was starting to get to her. She needed to know that she was wanted, not just as an ally but as a partner. As an equal. But how could she tell her mother this was the path she wanted to take?

When asked about Shadira, Dimitri sat up. "She is quite skilled when it comes to controlling people. That is, as long as they wear her special crystals. Shadira starts by making them fear her. Her methods are a little unrefined, but they work. Torture is not really something I care for, but to each their own." Unlike Shadira, he didn't need to use torture. All he really had to do was weaken someone and manipulate their memories.

Aiko listened to Dimitri. Shadira was brash, that is for sure. She had bore witness to that when she dealt with her son."So I am assuming that her own son is controlled by one of these crystals? And what of you? You control her or she her own entity?"She glanced back to Dimirtri. There was that feeling again that she couldn't shake. He intrigued her more than he should. She studied him, took every detail into memory.

Dimitri chuckled a little and stood up. "Shadira does exactly what I tell her to do. Rayne actually has three crystals in his choker. They were meant to help him control his magic. All Shadira had to do was use her amulet to turn them against him. However, only Rayne can break free from her control." He paused for a little while, turning back to Aiko. "Rayne is the only one with the power to return the crystals back to normal. For each one, it will become more difficult to break."
