When Piper said she didn't do riddles, she didn't do riddles. So while Lock went off to follow after Broody McBrooderston, Piper hung back, grabbed one of the handy dandy runes left lying around for her souvenir and effort towards their escape, and scooted on closer to the intimidating but intrepid fashionista that was one Boogeyman and Teacher of legend.
"I'll keep that warm for ya if you feel like sharing, professor," the reaper offered somewhat hopefully. She had no idea why anyone would throw themselves in willingly or why they would snub some Lord of the Mountains or whatever, but that was the sort of sass she wanted to cozy up to right now. Way better than working.

She was taken aback by the swarm of bats that flew out, quickly leaning backwards to avoid them. The rest of the cave was full of other students wandering about, interacting with the various elements (sometimes quite violently). She watched a couple of them trying to solve a puzzle with mild curiosity, noting each time the crystals lit up with a certain combination. Perhaps they would be able to solve the puzzle and let them out of here...
Her attention was drawn to the loud voice that boomed through the room, catching her off guard. Even more disturbing was the large slitted eye she barely caught a glimpse of. So far, she could only think of the sand whale that was probably that large. And perhaps the 100 foot long snake. They weren't going to get eaten here now were they...
Edel's concerns were somewhat allayed by the arrival of a certain professor, though it wasn't certain that they would be completely out of danger now that she was here. In the three years she had known the gym instructor... well, disaster and danger tended to surround her. The ghoul eyed the boogeyman skeptically, wondering if she had come to observe how they well were doing, or, as the voice had said, if she was here to stir up more of her typical funny business.
The ghoul furrowed her brows at the voice who spoke back. Lord of the mountain...Ancients? No, greater than the Ancients, it claimed. She had known that something was a little off about this town the moment she arrived, but the knowledge that they could possibly be dealing with something that was of the magnitude of an Ancient was worrying indeed.
At least Professor Red was still enjoying the show with some popcorn, which meant that the situation wasn't exactly dire yet. Edel decided that she would hang back and observe for now.

"Very well," boomed the voice, despite Red not having said anything, "I am impatient; it is my mid-mid-late-evening Hunter snack; I leave you with a riddle; may it heed useful:
The answer is simple as long as you are able To get the five numbers, and solve the table It was crafted from veterans of numbers and math They carved a hole in it for simple finger baths Next patience is the key, wait and see, A clue will appear, in the shape you should heed, Next is a thread winding simple and old, A guide will show the way, in the resources told, Lastly you should see the lines dots connect (Truth to be told, I forgot what comes next.) Lastly after the tenth there is one more riddle to solve What does a table with five people involve One faces against, the rest face towards Five numbers required none more straightforward It is a gamble, it is a risk, it is the emblem etched What is another term for a dark pumpkin sketched?"

After walking around the room excitedly, Rei deduced from the booming sound's clue that the 'answer' for the puzzle was supposedly an 5-rune combination that should be placed at the slate.
He already gathered that each runes corresponds to a number from 0 to 12, so it can't be letters. Also, after glimpsing over the shoulders of the people around him, he also noticed there's still some missing numbers from the row.
So for now, Rei walked down to where the Runes lies, and tried to gather whatever left from the pile. He took a blank one.
Also, after reading the jumbled letters and reading the numbers '314' on the unearthed slate...
"These symbols...Pi...R...u?"
Pi;3,14. R; the distance between the center of a circle and its edge. U...
Maybe there's some thing about this slab that will help them answering. Rei tried to take some water from the pool and pouring it into the small circle on the slab.
remi picked up a blank rune and put it next to the zero rune.

As much fun as math was, for a given value of fun, Aymet was now bored with the tile swapping and was looking for something more exciting to do, that still required the same minimal amount of physical labor. Like a different kind of tile swapping.
Seeing as half the people puzzling in the room had managed to find blank runes to carry around, Aymet followed them back to the pile and picked one up, quickly replacing it in the machine instead of one of his runes.

"Oo donn kno whuff oour miffin!" Red said at last with her mouth full, shaking the popcorn bag in the direction of the voice (or rather what she assumed was its direction). "An' you better watch it, thems fightin' words. Don't make me go --"
She stopped as students approached and/or interrupted her. First, Hollandaise. "Winters? Nah. I'm here on Boogey work. Or I was." The teacher shrugged, adding, "You guys kind of showed up out of the fog and upended everything, just so you know."
Next, Dekana. She eyed him warily. "What'll you give me for some? This happens to be a village specialty." Red picked up a popcorn piece and waggled it under Dekana's nose. It was black in color, complete with a smoking purple mist that oozed off of it. The bag the popcorn came out of wasn't marked, either.
Finally, Piper. "No. Go find your own."
As the voice boomed and rambled a riddle, Red rolled her eyes. "Really? Really? Is that the best you can do? And you totally had your chance." Red emphasized what she was talking about by dramatically reaching in and pulling out more popcorn, which she then tossed in her mouth. "Too bad you're going to have to suffer while I eat this in front of you. Om nom nom."
Remi, taking a break finally over at scrabble runes 101, approached his mentor with a audible sigh. He then flopped right next to her and eyed the popcorn bag. "Spare a bite?" He shouldnt be surprised if she denied him too though. He was there after all for bogeyman training and ended up getting caught up in the loc happenings.

Booo, she couldn't take the slab OR a piece of crystal. And blood/dirt wasn't exactly what Maddie wanted to take as a souvenir. So she followed suit, and picked up a blank rune just like everyone else. This would come in handy, right?
Also, after digging in the ground, she got her sleeves dirty, so maybe it was time to wash them. Making her way over to the body of water, Maddie started to wash her sweater, but when she caught sight of something etched in the bottom,
Taking a deep breath, she plunged her head under the water, and tried to claw out the runes

Wrath had no idea what in death was going on. Like everyone else, he woke up in a strange place, his limbs coming to life just as slowly as his brain. As soon as he had been able, he got to his feet, standing up tall and having a look around at his surroundings.
The voice, whoever it belonged to, was given raised eyebrows. What was this? A puzzle of some kind? Wrath was reminded of the time he had been in a dungeon, as a knight (that wasn't actually him but he still remembered it like it was). He had not been able to contribute much, then, and he did not think he would be able to contribute very much now.
Heaving a sigh that brought massive shoulders up and then down again, he crossed his arms over his chest and began to pace around, watching as everyone went about investigating the room, piecing together their clues.
Posted: Fri Aug 14, 2015 9:29 pm
After much meandering and becoming more and more confused as he went, Wrath walked up to the pile of blank runes that were located in one part of the room. Everyone else seemed to have the idea of picking one up, and, not wanting to look like a total idiot, he did the same, stooping down low to swipe one up in a leather and metal clad hand.
And then he just sort of went back to looking at what everyone else was doing, making little noises of approval here and there and nodding his head as if he totally understood what was going on.
Red pointed an accusatory talon at Remi. "No, on the account of you ditched me." The talon was lowered into the bag, whereupon she skewered a popcorn kernel with it in order to chomp down on it viciously. "Go get your own."
