With Al now reduced to actually using his legs he did his best to keep a steady pace behind Dom, his feet silent on the cobbled road as they finally entered Aquacorde. They got a few looks, as a new trainer leading a line of pokemon into town might receive. It was still mid-day, people were out and about going about their day, it was to be expected. Still though.. Dom didn't like the attention, and Al could tell. He chittered empathetically in the direction of his trainer before he turned his attention to his two 'tasks'.
"You're going to teach us a few things," Mercury stated rather than asked, he'd listened in on the two's conversation, unintentionally of course, so he got the gist of what was going to happen. Al leered at the nosy fox before ultimately nodding his head, confirming what he'd heard. "You two need training," he said simply, his eyes flickering instinctively flickering towards the tall grass. "The way you two are now is of no use to any of us." There was no spite in his voice, only the plain truth; they were the weakest two on the team, considering that they were fresh out of the lab, however, it was... tolerable. But it wouldn't stay that way for long. "We'll move onto something else once you've gotten stronger."
"O-okay..." Mercury found himself responding uncertainly. That was sort of a given, wasn't it? Although he wasn't the biggest fan of battling, even he knew how important it was to level up and get stronger, how else would he be able to stand his own against the gym leaders they would eventually face. Bell took the advice with a chipper attitude than her company and eagerly saluted the Aipom before them. "Will do! I look forward to battling!"

Reading through the entry on his PokéDex, Aston learned the Meleeon was a newly discovered evolution of Eevee. That was interesting. Did that mean he caught a Pokémon his prince knew nothing about then?...Why did that give him an unmistakable feeling of prideful pleasure? Putting the device back in his bag, he stumbled a bit when the Meleeon jumped from out of nowhere and stood on his head, perfectly balanced. Jeez....Was it like this because it was daytime? He read they were aggressive at night. Well, he'd find out.

Aston wasn't having the bst luck thinking of a name for Meleeon. Maybe it was for the best. He'd wait until he knew what his nighttime behavior was like before deciding on a name. While Al helped Mercury and Bell plan out a training regiment Dom transferred his attention solely on Zora, pulling his team off the main road and to the side that he could perform a check-up. Zora, understanding what was happening, stood still as he was grasped firmly before he sneezed, causing one of Dom's hand to yank back. He frowned deeply and looked at the snot and saliva that now dripped from his right hand; and it wasn't as if he could just wipe this on his shirt, that would leave a stain that would eventually crust over, and that was something he didn't need. So instead he did his best to shake the gunk off, and the rest he wiped onto the nearest building.
...Right, now where was he? Dom shook his head to himself, but kept, quiet as he turned Zora over this way and that, to the side, and even upside down, but just like before he couldn't find a single injury on him. "Huh," he huffed out of puzzlement and released the pokemon. He had no physical ailments, no injuries... so what was with this unremitting sneezing? It was concerning, he didn't need a potentially sick pokemon to infect the rest of his team, and it wasn't as if he had the Skrelp's medical history. He'd been a bit of a 'going away' present from Team Aqua, that he'd just so happened to pick out himself... without the organization's permission or prior knowledge.
Zora was actually the reason he'd chosen the Kalos region, he hadn't had any true inkling to which region he'd book it to, none of them had really stood out to him; he had just known he needed to get out of Hoenn. So after he'd nabbed Zora, and a few other items, he'd decided on the pokemon's home region. Because why not?
Pulling himself out of his memories Dom absently patted the seahorse's head, receiving a squeak and another sneeze in response. If he remembered correctly one of the lower grunts had actually stolen him off of some unlucky, and particularly weak, trainer. So he had actually been stolen twice, in the same week in fact, but... he hadn't shown any signs that might hint to agitation or even sadness, it'd hadn't been long enough for Stockholm Syndrome to set in... had it? "Let's get going," Dom recalled Zora, done with his check-up and with no other need to have him back, and started back on his slow amble into the forest. He'd get the Skrelp checked out in the next pokecenter, though he'd release him if he ever needed him to take on another pokemon.
Before he could take another step he felt a weight land on his back and quickly move up to his shoulder as Al returned to him, his tail draping itself over his shoulder as usual. Dom simply scratched the top of his head, showing him a bit of affection, and began walking.

She introduced herself as Cheria Barnes, and he gave a courteous nod. "Vince, and it's fine. You're at no fault." He didn't really think running into someone warranted an introduction. Most people just apologized and moved on with their lives, but now that they would be walking together into the next town or so, he supposed introductions were in order. "To answer your earlier comment... Lupup are just wary by nature. There's a lore that in short, states that the first lupup was the offspring of a dragon and fairy pokemon. The dragon mother hated humans for hunting her kind, but the fairy father saw the goodness in their hearts. Both parents were killed off by an attack from humans however, and so the lupup species has been taught to be wary of humans, it is a lesson passed down from their ancestor. There is much more to it than that, but it's a rather long story..." He explained briefly, not wanting to drone on and on unless she showed more interest.
Meanwhile, Xiu Feng continued to argue with the other lupup, glad that at least the frogadier was sensible. ('Jeez it's not like I bit her or anything. I didn't like how fast she was moving, so I growled. Big whoop. It doesn't matter how much smaller she is, she could have had a weapon, or bumped into him because she was trying to steal from his pockets.') Xiu huffed. ('If you'll notice, after I realized the situation, and saw you with her, I stopped growling because she had my approval after that. Though now I'm starting to question your judgement...') She added with a grumble, though she knew how easily her kind could hold a grudge, so she figured she should stop wasting her breath. ('Anyways, what's a tank...?') Xiu asked Sheena curiously, padding along by Vince's feet as they entered the next town. Vince's charmander was busy looking around at all the new sights, sounds, and smells of the Kalos region to really be engaged in their conversation. Not that she would have much to add. She didn't know much about Vince, or lupups, or Xiu Feng, so she was perfectly content to let her mind and eyes wander as she followed along.

Cheria listened to Vince's story on the Lupup species, frowning softly. Well, that story was all kinds of messed up. First of all, Cheria didn't approve of hunting Pokémon, so the slaughter of the mother and father was wrong. But, how did they know the mother's kind weren't hostile or troublesome towards humans? They could have been hunted or killed as defense. Which was, of code, understandable and acceptable. Of course, these were humans. Humans had never been a...peaceful or reasonable species. But, there were parts of the story that were either unknown or ignored. Cheria couldn't really bring herself to feel completely sorry, but she did feel sad for the first Lupup. Poor thing. "I feel sorry for the Lupup. And, for the father, too, I suppose. He believed so strongly in humans only to be killed by them. I wonder how the species would have turned out if the parents had lived full lives." Cheria looked down at Xiu Feng, smiling a bit. Things seemed tense between her and Lupup. "Are you being rude, Lupup? You should be nicer to her. Okay?"
"Pup." Was Cheria kidding? He was barely even nice to Sheena and the others. And, they were all friends. Well, friends with Cheria. Shaking his head, Lupup decided to just drop it, but if she growled at or threatened Cheria again, he'd never forget it. "...Now that she mentions it, I want to know what a tank is, too." Sheena sweatdropped a bit. How was she supposed to know? She grew up in a lab. "I...just heard one of Sycamore's assistants describe a really muscular trainer with the word. I assume it's used as a replacement for big or...strong?" She would make it a mental note to ask a Psychic what a tank was. If she'd known she had to play teacher, she'd have kept her mouth shut.

Vince nodded lightly as Cheria mentioned feeling bad for the first lupup and the fairy father, though he briefly wondered why she didn't comment on the mother dragon. "It was a sad state of affairs, or so the story goes." Vince agreed. To think that all of that destruction of life was for the sake of a... Trophy collection. Thinking back to the story reminded Vince why his family continually honored the lupup species. Some atrocities could never be atoned for. Vince grimaced lightly and shook his head, glancing to Cheria as she wondered aloud. "No way to tell. Though I would wager that lupup would likely be more friendly and trusting of their trainers." He suggested with a shrug. Cheria then noticed that the two lupup weren't really getting along, and insisted that her lupup needed to be nicer to Xiu Feng. "I wouldn't be so quick to put him at fault; Xiu Feng can be quite the spitfire. It's entirely likely she offended him in some way." Vince suggested. ('Hey! Who's side are you on?!') Xiu barked indignantly, causing Vince to grin a bit. Xiu gave a playful growl in response, nipping at Vince's heels. ('What's that look supposed to mean?! Grr...') She tugged at his pant leg a bit to vent her frustrations, which Vince mostly ignored.
She didn't keep at it for very long though, since she was distracted by asking Sheena what a tank was. It seemed her counterpart wanted to know as well, but even Sheena wasn't really sure, suggesting that she had just heard the word used to describe a big muscular trainer. ('Oh! Well in that case, Vinny here is definitely a tank.') Xiu agreed with a happy bark. ('He's really big and strong, and has lots of muscles... I think.') She looked thoughtful about that last bit, though when they passed by one of the buildings, Xiu Feng slowed and began sniffing the air.('Mmmmm.... What's that smell?') She wondered aloud, turning and running off to follow her nose. "He--! Sto--! Xiu Feng!" Vince called, having trouble spitting out the right words over his surprise and irritation. Grumbling, he gave chase to the lupup towards a food stand, where the lupup was standing on her hind legs and pawing at the wall between her and the delicious smell of food. Vince scooped the little pup up in his arms with a sigh. "Oh my, it seems your pokemon is quite hungry." An old lady commented with a chuckle from behind the counter. "Would you care for something to eat?""Hm... Well I suppose if she is that hungry, it would be cruel to keep her that way. Though I would prefer she not run off next time." He insisted disapprovingly. Xiu Feng didn't pay it any notice however, tail wagging happily at the idea of getting to eat whatever smelled so good. "What are you cooking now?" Vince asked, since that seemed to be the thing Xiu Feng was so intent on having. "Magret de Canard~ It is my special recipe." Vince had no idea what that was, he didn't speak french and he hadn't really traveled around Kalos before, but it smelled good and looked like some kind of meat dish, so Xiu Feng was bound to love it. "Three orders of that then, and do you have any salads or fish available?" He asked. "Yes actually, here, have a look at our menu." Vince took the laminated paper he was given and asked for a small order of baked basculin and a turnip and spinach salad before offering the menu to Cheria just in case she wanted anything. If not he could just give it back to the kind lady.
After his order was finished, he let out the rest of his team; the three Magret de Canard meals had been for Xiu Feng, the charmander, and himself, but the salad was for Lin Hua, his mega sceptile, and the baked basculin was for Li Yu, since he knew she liked fish. "Lunch time." He explained to Lin Hua, who was giving him a curious look as he offered her the salad and took a bite of his own meal. It looked and smelled good at least, so she certainly wasn't complaining while she began to nibble away at the plants. Vince was actually rather impressed with the old woman's cooking as well, though he supposed this was Kalos, so he shouldn't be too surprised.

Cheria blinked. "Really?...Lupup warmed up to me pretty fast, though. Then again, he had been following me around for...who knows how long before he actually showed himself." After Vince's statement on Xiu Feng's possible involvement towards Lupup's mood, Cheria couldn't help but smile. It was cute how well the two got along. Even if Xiu Feng was upset, she didn't actually hurt Vince and he was so accustomed to her that it didn't bother him at all. "Though, I'm nowhere near as close to him as you are with her. I'm kind of jealous." All of a sudden, Xiu Feng darted off and Vince, in a state of surprise, stuttered as he tried to get her to stop. That was...surprisingly attractive. Here was this intimidating man who seemed indifferent to everything and in control of his situation spitting out half words and names. Why was that so amusing and cute to Cheria? Maybe because it wasn't expected. It was just one of those things she supposed.
Following Vince and Xiu Feng, though we didn't have to, she spotted the food cart that caught the Lupup's attention. She must've been hungry then. Vince ordered...quite a bit of food before handing her the menu. Looking through it, she caught sight of Sheena and Lupup staring up at her expectantly. Giving a sigh, Cheria ordered the canard, too, before giving the menu back. Once she had her dish, she joined Vince and his team. "Alright. I get it." Lupup and Sheena were now practically hounding her. Letting out Aaron, Ariel, and Davis, Cheria dug into her bag and got out the Poképuff container. She gave each of her Pokémon one and then looked at Vince and his team. "Would your Pokémon like one? I have plenty." And, she could make more once she was home in Lumiose.

Vince nodded as Cheria mentioned that her lupup seemed to have warmed up to her quickly, but had been following her. "That sounds about right. Though wary, lupup are also naturally curious. Following at a distance to investigate sounds like something they would do." Vince agreed, though he shifted a bit uncomfortably when Cheria pointed out his bond with Xiu Feng. "Ah.... Don't be. Ours is a... Special case." He had to debate a bit how exactly to word it. Special case seemed to put it lightly but it would do. Of course in mentioning their bond, Xiu Feng took the opportunity to run off towards the prospect of food, an aggravated Vince in tow. Once he had ordered all of his pokemon some food, he offered Cheria the menu so she could place her own order. Afterwards they all sat down to eat, though Vince noticed that all of Cheria's pokemon were far more keen on eating her pokepuffs. Vince looked on with mild intrigue, mostly noting all of her pokemon. She must have noticed, because she soon offered to share with his pokemon as well. "Thank you, but I must decline. I try to avoid giving my pokemon treats unless I am rewarding good behavior, and even then... Only if that is the type of training they require." Vince insisted with a sigh, folding his hands behind his head and leaning back in his chair. Frankly even then, he didn't really like to give out treats.
Not that he was criticizing Cheria for giving her pokemon the puffs. She was free to train and treat her pokemon the way she saw fit, but for Vince, the results of hard work should be rewarding enough, in his opinion, and if they weren't, then you hadn't worked hard enough for a reward. He knew he did things differently than most, and accepted that he would often be the only one with his personal views instead of trying to push them onto others. In spite of Vince's declining of Cheria's offer, Xiu Feng still looked longingly at the puffs Cheria was handing out. ('Aww.... But... They smell so good....') She grumbled, in spite of not having touched the food she had practically begged Vince for already. ('Xiu Feng, you should be happy with what you were given, lest you spend all of your time complaining about that which you cannot have, and end up losing both.') Lin suggested sagely, continuing to eat her salad. Xiu grumbled a bit but wasn't about to argue with the grass type. She was so patient and slow and methodical in literally everything she did that Xiu Feng couldn't argue with the sceptile for the sake of her own sanity. Lin seemed to be the only one with enough self discipline not to be eyeing the puffs however, because Li Yu was eyeing them as well with a tempted churr, but was perfectly happy with the yummy meal Vince had given her. His charmander too, was quite tempted to indulge in the treat, and ignore Vince entirely, but... Prove me wrong. Vince's words still burned, and she wasn't going to back down from his challenge. She dug into her food with vigor and decided to go look for a battle once she was finished. If she was going to meet his standards then she was going to need to get stronger to face the challenges ahead.
The charmander's initiative did not go unnoticed. Vince caught her eye and gave a small nod of approval. If she wanted to train, he certainly wasn't going to stop her. As long as she remained in line of sight, she was free to move about as she wanted to. She made her way into the nearby grass and managed to find a caterpie hiding there. With one swift swipe of her claws it had been knocked out, leaving the charmander frustrated. She was starting to see what Vince had meant. That caterpie had not been a worthy opponent, training against weaker pokemon wasn't going to garner her any experience. Frankly she probably shouldn't have even tried to attack it; it did neither of them any good, but it wasn't like she could access how strong a pokemon was without attacking it. Frustrated, she returned to Vince as he and the others had finished eating. Vince looked over her expression and gave a bit of an understanding smile. "...So you understand now." Vince commented, shifting his position to lean over his knees and gaze at the small fire type. ".....Char." She agreed, albeit reluctantly. Suddenly she felt a hand on her head and glanced up in surprise as Vince pat her scales soothingly. "There is a forest ahead, the pokemon there should prove more challenging." He insisted, standing up from his seat soon after. The charmander was still a bit taken aback however by Vince's actions, considering this was the same man who, not too long ago, had insisted that he wasn't there to be her friend. It was strange, but she felt... Happy to have seemingly gained his approval for the time being, and followed after him and he took a step or two, glancing to Cheria. "Shall we continue?"

Cheria tilted her head a bit and gave an apology as she put the lid back on the container. She wouldn't say his methods were cruel. After all, that was how people trained dogs and it was kind of like the allowance system parents had with their kids. Rewards for good behavior or accomplishments were common. Cheria, of course, wouldn't ever have that system with hr own team, but Vince was allowed to train his as he saw fit. Sheena and the others were constantly working. There was training, gym battles, and even keeping her safe. So, a treat every now and then was okay. "Well, if you ever do want to reward them with a treat, just ask. I'm happy to share or even make your own supply for you." Lupup actually felt kind of sorry for the other team. Cheria's puffs were amazing. Maybe he'd sneak one to Xiu Feng sometime. Xiu Feng, or one of the others that showed interest. The Dratini or Charmander. Who had...wandered off.
Charmander returned soon, however, and Vince was ready to leave. Everyone had finished their food, so Cheria quickly cleaned up and put the container of puffs back into her bag. After that, she followed the other almost as of she was on a mission. It was just great to not be traveling alone anymore. "Off to the forest~." Cheria remembered her team was still out when Aaron tugged her shirt, and the blonde blushed as she clumsily returned all of them but Sheena and Lupup. If her entire team was out and about while in the forest, it'd be madness. Well, most of her team. There was Isica, but she was too big to let out in Aquacorde. Cheria would wait until Lumiose, where there was more space for her.

As Olivia paraded her team through Route 1 she couldn't help but to admire the bit of nature they came across through the shortened path, there were vague memories that bubbled forth to the front of her mind as they continued forth, flashes of trips through Kalos to visit her father's family. She'd only been in the region a handful of times, family gatherings and vacations ultimately held in Kanto. What with her mother's round-the-clock schedule, it'd clashed with many potential family vacations.
She was still reminiscing over the past when the group came across a Bunnelby, a rabbit-like pokemon who straightened up at the sight of the strangers before it shifted into a fighting position, obviously eager for battle. Olivia stopped in her tracks and motioned for her pokemon to do the same, her pokedex in her hand a second later. "Bunnelby, the Digging Pokemon," the digital encyclopedia reported, electronic voice breaking through the air. "It creates its den by digging in the ground with its large, shovel-shaped ears. They are strong enough to chop right through thick tree roots."
"Huh," Olivia huffed, obviously impressed by the entry, and turned her attention back to the Bunnelby, a new appreciation in her eyes. She ought to catch at least one Kalos resident, right? She gave the pokedex one last glance over, reading over Bunnelby's move and ability before she gave a firm nod. Yup, it was decided! "Cay, go ahead and take this pokemon on," she instructed, getting a pokeball out for the ready.

With one toss of the pokeball the Bunnelby was sucked inside, the capsule rocking three times before it gave a ping, announcing to the world that the capture was successful. Olivia gave a nod, satisfied, but allowed Licorice to collect the ball while she attended to Cayenne. "You took quite the beating, huh?" she asked as she crouched down, gently running a hand over her body. The Cyndaquil gave a weary squeak and leaned into the touch, her body going slack when the woman picked her up into her arms. "Alright, let's head to the Pokecenter," she spoke aloud, opening her hand to accept the pokeball Licorice handed her.
Locating the Poke Center was easy enough, its bright red roof visible the moment one stepped into the town. She figured that there was no need to give Cayenne a potion when she planned to have her newly caught Bunnelby healed. She opted not to take Blue out with her, given what she'd learned from brother, which meant that Licorice had to stay outside with him. The two were in perfect health either way, so a visit to Nurse Joy wasn't needed.
Once inside she returned Cayenne for the simple procedure of healing, and handed both her and Bunnelby's pokeball to the nurse. The woman took them both, but not before giving Olivia an inquisitive look. "...Have we met before?" she asked, but only after she'd started up the healing process-- the job did come first, after all. "Hm?" The other woman tilted her head to the side, humming thoughtfully before she shook her head. "I don't think so," she dismissed the notion of familiarity with a soft shrug of her shoulders. Sure, it was possible that she might have met the woman, what with the whole family reunion--she had to suppress the urge to shudder at the very memory--but it was nearly impossible to tell. Not to mention she was incognito, so in the end it was best to deny.
Her pokemon were returned to her, though Nurse Joy's trademark smile was replaced with a curious purse of the lips. Before she could continue with her questions, however, Olivia dismissed the woman with a polite wave and made her way out. "Have a good day!"

While Olivia was inside having her pokemon healed Licorice stood outside, waiting for her trainer to return while also looking after Blue. He wasn't a difficult charge, only giving a low, barely audible growl whenever a human passed by them. She couldn't quite understand why he was so hostile to them, but as long as he didn't outright attack them she figured it was fine. "Hohoho." While doing a random sweep of the town her eyes fell across a rather shiny item and, being the curious being that she was, she instantly scrambled towards it, holding it up to the light between her claws. "What'd you find, mom?" Blue asked, trotting up beside her with his tail now wagging.
"Dunno," she replied with a shrug, allowing him to sniff the curious item before she pulled it closer for inspection. Trying to get a better hold of it she tightened her grip, only to have the heart-shaped item crumble in her hands. Licorice huffed, disappointed, before she shrugged her shoulders and ambled back towards the Pokecenter, just in time for Olivia to step back outside. She waved at her human, a cautionary hand falling onto Blue's side when she heard him begin to growl. "Now Blue, what'd I tell you?" The pup whined softly, his ears falling back as he dropped his head down. "...That she's a good human," he muttered, left paw pushing at the ground. "That's right! Which meaaaaaans?" she extended the last word, indicating for him to answer her. "It means... I don't... growl or bite her?" he replied, unsure. "Exactly!"
Olivia quirked an eyebrow at the exchange between the two pokemon she'd left outside, surmising that they were simply talking about... whatever pokemon talked about. She didn't question it. Instead she let out the rest of her pokemon, newest addition included, Cayenne giving a happy cry in greeting before she shuffled closer to her trainer. Poppy huffed, eying all with an unimpressed look, and crossed her arms over her chest. Bunnelby looked around curiously, his nose twitching, only to stiffen a moment later, a look akin to horror crossing his face.
Oh boy.

Olivia furrowed her brow as she looked at Bunnelby, taking in his frightened expression before she noticed it wasn't directed at a specific person but rather the group entirely. "Uh, you okay there, bud?" she questioned and watched as he whipped his head in her direction, eyes dilated, before he forced himself to calm down. "Bun," he huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, chin tilting out. Unable to make much sense of it, she left it alone, for now, and chalked it up to something akin to stage fright. Switching from wild to domesticated must've been a difficult process, especially when you weren't expecting it.
"Alright guys, introduction time." The officer jerked her thumb out, her pokemon following her motion, to Valerian. "This is Valerian, she's been with me the longest and knows how I run things, you'll be referring to her when it comes time to learn how we operate." The Bisharp nodded, making eye contact with the few pokemon she'd yet to meet. "Up next is Poppy," Olivia pointed towards her Happiny, the pink pokemon jamming a hands onto her hips in a brazen pose. "She's... the child of a family friend?" she summed up, fully aware of her own hesitance and questioning in her voice. She quickly moved onto the next pokemon.
"This is Cayenne, she's one of the newest members." The Cyndaquil let the fire on her back flare out, though she was careful not to set her trainer's pants on fire. "Next up is Licorice, she's--" A hand shot up, causing Olivia to falter. "Yes?" she inclined her heads towards the very pokemon she'd been in the process of introducing, her tone wary. "Have I mentioned how much I dislike my name?" Olivia snorted. "Yes, you have. Several times, yet you never bother to offer any alternatives or stop me from calling you it." The Sableye gave a shrug and began randomly rocking back on her heels, "fair enough."
The woman shook her head good-naturedly before continuing on. "...Anyway, this little guy right here is Blue.""His full name is Blueberry. I know how you are with themes," Licorice interjected, interrupting once more. She slapped both hands over her mouth upon realizing this. "Oops, sorry." A few moments of silence passed through the group, in which Olivia waited to see if her chattiest pokemon had any more comments to add. When she didn't the pinkette continued. "And last but not least, this is Ginseng. This is probably overwhelming for him, so take it easy on him."
With introductions concluded Olivia gave a soft sigh and stretched her arms skyward, rolling her shoulders. "Now that we've all met, let's do our best to get along. We're a team now." The reminder, although for all her pokemon, was mainly directed towards Poppy, who was fully aware of this.
